No Sound Old SlideShows

I made multiple SlideShows in PC CD and PDF formats, from 2003 to 2005, but now the sounds does not play on a number of them.  This problem has happened using XP and Windows 7 and on different PC's.  Any suggestions to resolve the isse or do I have to redo my slideshows?  Thanks for any suggestions or help.

How can they remove such a thing.
A lot of people have ATV JUST for slideshows fron photolibraris.
We should be able to receive our money back as the comercials showed this as a feature
I do not use ATV for anything else
There are a lot of people moaning over this here.
So let us all send it as a bugreport

iphoto crashes when I try to edit existing (old) slideshow. If I create a new one I can edit them ok, it seems to be older slideshows I have the problem with. I am happy to delete slideshow but even if i try to right click I just get whirly wheel of death then need to force quit. Am running Maverick and latest version of iphoto software...

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Making a voiceover sound old

Does anyone know of an easy way to apply an effect to a voiceover to make it sound old? It's an effect I need for a movie sequence. I want the speech to sound as if it had been recorded in the 1930s, with plenty of crackle and a tinny quality to the voice. Nothing in the GarageBand filter collection seems to suit.
    I would appreciate any help.

  • No sound, no slideshow, won't recognize .mov file

    Hi.
I have a whole string of problems that went from bad to worse... I sent an iPhoto slideshow to iDVD.
First, I couldn't get changes in font style and size to stay after leaving one menu for another. Every time I returned to a previous menu the default font would be reinstated.
Next I tried to undo and operation and iDVD disappeared, shut down.
I got an update for iDVD, Quicktime and others (Aperture, Bluetooth, macbook EFI Firmware) and restarted.
Then I tried to resend the slideshow from iPhoto to iDVD and got <Can't Find Audio File. Missing File Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/IDVD7/Audio> Now there is no theme music in the theme menus. MPEG4 icon is there, and menu song title but time reads 00:00 and the volume bar is frozen at min.
After reading some forums I trashed the .com.apple.iDVD.plist in User/Library/Preferences, repaired disc permissions and then restarted and tried again.
Now after sending iPhoto slideshow to iDVD I get <Internal iDVD Error During Last Action. This is not a movie.> If I try and drag the movie into a slideshow or movie box I get <Unsupported File Type: Unknown Format> I get the black and yellow striped broken chain icon and still no sound.
I looked at the console, and found multiples of the following iDVD error messages:
2/17/10 3:06:04 PM iDVD[15168] Looked for URLs on the pasteboard, but found none.

    Henji,
have you used a maintainance application lately, that has cleaned some caches? Then check, if you still have the file "com.apple.xpchelper.cache"  in the System Library in the folder "/System/Library/Caches/".
If this file is missing, that might be the reason that you cannot play or import videos any longer. Then restore it from your backup, if you have a clone of your system.  ALJ posted a link to a copy of this file in another thread: Re: Import video to Aperture library on Mountain Lion

  • If I move iphoto library to separate hard disk will my old slideshows work ?

I need to move my photo library and Movies (Events and Projects) to an external hard disk as my 700gb drive on my iMac is now full (*see note below)
I have brought 2 Samsung External drives (3TB each) which I plan to partition each for Photos and Movies i.e 2 partitions on each drive, and will use one for use with iPhoto and iMovie, and the other drive for a dedicated backup. I will backup the remainder of my iMac hardisk to a seperate disk.
What has just occured to me is that after I have moved the libraries I cannot see how existing iMovie projects and iPhoto Slideshows will work, as each Application will be looking for the source files on the original iMac hardisc (I assume).
I am running Snow Leopard v10.6.8 ( I did not want to upgrade to Mountain Lion as I was told the iPhoto and iMovie changes were a 'backward' step. However I now want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, for security updates reasons mainly, and so need to free up my hard drive.
Can anyone advise on the best way to proceed ?
    * - the iMac hard disk become full very suddenly possibly due to duplicates, as I have noticed duplicate events and clips in my iMovies event library. I have noticed that some events are also now not showing, with message 'No video clips match the current selection' (I have not search criteria set).
    Thanks

I won't talk about iMoive - best to ask on that forum - but yes, everything will be exactly the same after you move the Library because you'll tell iPhoto to look for that library. That's what step 3, below, is all about.
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Old slideshow themes accessible in ilife 11?

Hi, I'm thinking about upgrading & was wondering whether the old iphoto 09 themes were still able to be used in ilife 11.

iPhoto 11 has all the themes that were in iPhoto 09 and several more. So there should be no problem in upgrading.

  • Old Slideshow reappears during burning

My DVD is simulating as I designed it, but when I burn the DVD, an older slideshow (not seen anywhere in the program) appears for the first 3 cards, then corrects and burns the proper slideshow. How can I get rid of this? Help!

    Hi:
Probably you coild be burning using an older build from your hard drive. Look in your hard drive for all the builds (search for VIDEO_TS folders in spotlight) you have, delete them and build your project again.
    Hope that helps !

  • Slideshows not working after transferring from old Mac Book Pro

I recently bought a new Mac Book Pro (10.9.2). I moved over all my photos from my old Mac Book Pro and while all of my photos and albums are intact, none of my slideshows are. The photos play sporadically and the music and Ken Burns effects no longer work. I have no problem creating new slideshows from new or the old photos but I don't want to have to re-do my 40 old slideshows. Am I barking up the wrong tree thinking they should be intact and working? Any suggestion on how tho fix this.

Command (right) - click on the hard drive icon on the Desktop and select Get Info from the contextual menu:
This is how the EHD should be formatted:

  • Encore CS3 crash while building slideshow

Wanted to post the solution to an Encore crash regarding the slideshow build step.
Scaling down the resolution of 66 tiff images that had made up a slideshow
worked around a problem in Encore. The final step of creating an iso
image had been failing after many minutes of processing the slideshow.
Using images scaled down to 720x480, the native resolution of an SD DVD, resolved the problem.
From CS3 Bridge, selected all the images,
then from the Bridge menu Tools -> Photoshop -> Image Processor ...
selected the 'resize to fit' option
and specified 720 for width and 480 for height and saved the images
    to a new directory.
Had to delete the old slideshow timeline and build the new one but
Encore makes that simple enough. Import the images as a timeline,
set the transition, add the music track, set the random pan and zoom,
and linked the new asset to the menu again.
I don't know if another resolution would have been better given the
slight zooming resulting from the random pan and zoom feature but the
    results look fine regardless.

    Andrew,
Though it sounds too late to help with Encore, there are a couple of things to think about. That 80% Transcoding issue throws up a few possibilities to me:
1.) heat buildup in the CPU - Transcoding is very CPU intensive
2.) power supply not up to the task, or going bad
3.) HDD filling up to a critical point - that slowdown and then hang could be a sign of this, as HDD's loose a good deal of their efficiency near the 75% full point, and will shut down, as 100% is approached.
4.) something in the Project at about that point?
    5.) something else entirely
Good luck, and happy authoring, regardless of which program you use.

  • Just bought Photoshop Elements 13...I'm trying to make a slideshow but can't figure out how to alter duration time that the slide is on the screen.  They presently move from one to another way too quickly...also need a different pan and zoom option.  Wher

Just bought Photoshop Elements 13...I'm trying to make a slideshow but can't figure out how to alter duration time that the slide is on the screen.  They presently move from one to another way too quickly...also need a different pan and zoom option.  Where are all the options I had in PS10?  Also...Can I burn this to a DVD?

The changes have brought improvements but also drawbacks compared with the old slideshow editor.
The templates are now fairly fixed but I find the “Classic Dark” gives reasonable results with some panning and you can click the audio button and browse you PC for any track. Unfortunately there are only three speed choices linked to the music track. The improvement for most people is that you can now export to your hard drive at 720p or 1080p and upload to sites like YouTube and Vimeo.

  • IPhoto 9.1.1: slideshow images are zoomed into blurriness

New Mini 2.4, new Acer HD widescreen display, iPhoto 9.1.1 bundled. The mandatory library "update" on startup corrupted my library. Found a fix here to trash the iPhoto plist and reload the app. My old slideshows are gone, and when I select a range of photos and click "slideshow", I get the whole range in mini-thumbnails along the bottom; that's nice, but...when I play the slideshow, the images are so zoomed out that every last one is blurry. It looks like a nice photo in Preview after you hit "zoom in" about 5 times; it starts to pixelate, but this is just plain blurry. I posted another topic today about display size, and I wonder if these two flaws are related. The display puts a ridiculously small snapshot on the display, and full-screen simply puts the same dinky image on a field of black.
The subject images are, admittedly, mostly 1.3mp and 3.5mp. A few I took with my new 18mp Canon behave pretty much like they all used to. I've tried changing the monitor resolution from 1080p down to 720p, but it doesn't make much difference. The older ones looked fine and were zoomable without pixelating on my old Acer 1914 LCD monitor, so I didn't expect such a radical degradation of quality simply by upgrading to an HD monitor. The older photos (99%) of my library, are pretty much useless for slideshows now.

Create a new test library, import some photos and see if the problem persists. If not then your original library is damaged. Backup the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.
    Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Apple TV showing slideshow ( happenings in iPhote)

I still cant resolve the problem that Apple TV not can show my slideshow and also not map the photos as happenings in iPhoto.
Does anyone have a solution to this big problem in the new update. Or is there an easy way to transfer slideshows by export/import to movies. If this is the case, how is this done?
Hope to get some clarification on this subject.

    nate234 wrote:
Winston, this is plain stupid. The old slideshow feature worked well enough for most people, why take it away? It was quick, simple, easy to use, and it basically just worked.
Unfortunately it didn't just work, the transitions applied in iphoto are rendered differently on the tv than they are on a mac, resulting in them taking a different amount of time to display, as a result of which the audio and video would be of different lengths on the tv, which unfortunately in some cases was far from insignificant. I'm far from being particular about how my media displays but this was not particularly acceptable to me and I stopped using slideshows created in iphoto after a few days of use after I got my first tv.
I can't possibly know if this is why the feature was removed but this and the fact that iphoto now uses more complex transitions, suggests to me it was.
Those who are really neurotic about perfect slideshows could always create movies, as you suggest, for the older AppleTV versions.
Well actually they couldn't do this with the ease they now can. iphoto only used to support export of low resolution movies in a format not compatible with the tv.
Also, if AppleTV does not support new features in iPhoto, wouldn't a much better solution be to add support for those features to AppleTV?
Well it might be assuming this is possible, but I have some doubts it is.

  • IDVD Slideshow Question

I exported an iPhoto slideshow to iDVD. I used the Ken Burns effect. I've got around 200 photos and it plays great, no problems but....
heads have been cut off on three slides. Can I edit the individual slides right in iDVD or do I have to go back to iPhoto and then export all over again? That would be very time consuming.
    17 iMac FP 1.25GHz, & PowerPC G3   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   iDVD 5, iPhoto 5

Sorry but you have to go back to iPhoto for edits. If double-clicking a slideshow just plays the slideshow and doesn't bring up the slideshow editor, the slideshow may have been created in iPhoto. Slideshows created in iPhoto are sent to iDVD as QuickTime movies, which means you can't edit them.
If you want to make a change to an iPhoto slideshow, make the changes in iPhoto, send the slideshow to iDVD again, and replace the old slideshow with the new one.
Tip: In map view, slideshows created in iPhoto have a movie icon in the upper-left corner. iDVD slideshows have a slideshow icon.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Problem with Slideshow music:

Recently I had just gotten back from a long trip to Australia. Just the other day I was finishing up a slideshow and finding music to go with it. Right when I had the playlist to use selected under the slideshow's music settings, I accidently clicked the 'sort by name' tab and now my songs are out of order! And I cannot deselect it! I had to go in ITunes and had to manually change ALL the names of the songs to have them play in the right order... It is even the same in all my old slideshows and whenever I create a new one...
Can anyone help me with this problem?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Launch iPhoto, reset its preferences back to what you want, i.e. appearance, etc., and then try the music again. You'll find that the iTunes playlist is back to its original order set in iTunes.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Sharing iPhoto slideshow using iDVD

After spending a painstaking amount of time, getting everything just perfect in my iPhoto slideshow, then using Sharing to export to iDVD, my sound and slideshow no longer line up.The slideshow now ends and the song gets cut off. I have even tried adding extra time to my slideshow and make other adjustments, but having to export takes time and I need it to end up the way I made it. This is only a 57 image, one song (4:08 min), slideshow. It goes off without a hitch in iPhoto. I have adjusted every frame for effects (no prepackaged iPhoto stuff) and duration. Any help here would be appreciated.

Hi all, We recently upgraded Unity 4 to Unity 7 in a-la-carte licensing. As far as my understanding goes the user licensing model in Unity 7 is that all subscribers are UM subscribers and there are no more VM subscribers any longer. Below is a Unity
