No traffic in new maps?

So far love ios 6 besides new maps and lack of you tube app.. I hate the new you tube app.. but whatever.. will get used to it.. Anyway.. So on the new maps.. horrible searches.. nothing is poping up.. however where the **** is traffic. I live in LA, and i see few red lines here and there... In some random areas where there is no need to know traffic. Most of LA area is blank?? What a ****?

Thanks patrick. While I saw that before, you finally got my attention. It is pretty good and very direct.
I also got a bigger point. The iPhone has eaten a ton of markets, from compasses to alarm clocks, to calculators, to daytimers etc. etc. And now I guess it has the potential to eat the entire set of road sensors, collectors, computers, servers, distribution and so on. I have no idea what the huge amount of road sensors cost in LA alone, but I am sure it is more than I my entire family will make in our lifetimes. And soon, it will all be un-needed. I guess as a lazy technologist it is time for me to absorb the concepts and breadth of crowdsourcing, and HOPE APPLE MAKES IT PRETTY!! (in the map format anyway). Thanks again.

Apple is constantly working on improving their new Maps service, but until it reaches the level of finesse necessary to be usable, take a look at some alternatives.
Bing Maps offers a very good maps service with Bird's Eye, a feature similar to Flyover. It's arguably better than Google Maps.

You can still use Google’s maps — on the Web. Visit maps.google.com and accept the offer to create a Home-screen icon for you. You won’t get spoken directions, but you’ll get written directions, public transportation details, live traffic reports and, of course, Google’s far superior maps and data. (In two weeks, you’ll be able to get Street View this way, too, says Google.) And you can install the Google Plus Local app for full access to Google’s more complete database of shops and businesses.
You can also use someone else’s app. Many good ones cost money, but the MapQuest and Waze apps are free and offer spoken directions; Waze also incorporates real-time information about traffic jams, accidents and speed traps, collected by thousands of iPhones and Android phones on the roads.
If you can wait a couple of months, you’ll be able to install Google’s own maps app; Google is busily readying one for the iPhone and iPad.

New Maps are horrible

I bought a data plan for my iPad so I could specifically use maps. The new maps app has incorrect roads, places, and poor traffic info. for my area (Norfolk, Virginia). They are saying that VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) is in downtown Norfolk. It is actually in Richmond, Virginia! I just returned from a trip to Ireland and noticed that there are no towns showing in Ireland (but lots of golf courses?). How is one supposed to get around with this map? Please bring back the old mappnig program. Why would I pay for a data plan when what I am paying for I can not use????

I agree with all, though the mobile version of Google Maps has not been very responsive to me which just may be a network issue.
I have never been so disappointed and surprised. I didn't realized how much I rely on Gmaps- using the many POI's, the directions by foot or transit (I live in Boston) and even preferred to use it over turn by turn directions from 2 other apps I have (Waze, Mapquest and Motion X GPS). My sister, friend and niece all rely heavily on Gmaps. I have tried to use Apple Maps for days, with places I do and do not know... words cannot relay how bad the app performed (or didn't) at so many levels... unbelievable.
Who ever made the executive decision (Cook?) to release this without allowing the "customer" the fall back of Gmaps in the iOS should look back at the decisions that Jobs made. There are a lot of "great" phones out there, Jobs edged Apple products over that threshold to "excellent." That is what make Apple better.
They need to get an update out with Gmaps back in iOS6...that would make all the worldwide complaints from corporations and individuals settle down and ride out this slaughter show.
Sorry to vent... but I converted a few years ago with the 3GS, then left Windows behind for my MacBook, converted my family, got an iPad.... I have been "all in". Now I am actually looking at the Galaxy S3 just in case. I hate that!

Update - read: new maps

I have the latest OVI Maps in my E72 (v.3.04 10wk32 b03 and map version 0.1.25.114.
However, my map of Denmark is both out of date by 3+ years and inaccurate. I have tried sending feedback, but to no avail. I have contacted Navteq through their usual channels.
Denmark got new local authorities on 1. jan 2007 but this is still not properly reflected in Maps. Some towns have the wrong names because somebody has obvious been guessing!
Almost the worst thing I have experienced, though, is that 15 kilometres of major roads works bypassing the city of Roskilde change at regular intervals, but never radically. Even so, Maps gets totally confused and keeps rerouting you. A bit silly. Given the amount of traffic on this stretch of road, on which two carriageway run between metre-high concrete blocks, updates should be frequent.
Closer to Copenhagen last week Maps got so confused after more roadworks that the phone rebooted (OK I _was_ listening to BBC World Service on Internet Radio at the time, but that is a fairly obvious option on a boring journey. Just after this happened I had to rely 100% on Maps to change motorway lanes 5 times in 15 minutes with no opportunity to stop and re-insert my destination. Very silly.
It seems a bit pointless to have free maps if they don't work properly?

Well, if you are using Maps in online mode, it should pull the newest data into the phone from the maps.ovi.com servers, which is how it works even if there is no map data previously downloaded on the phone. You should be able to see the newly added sections if on the maps you go to the area where the edits were made and leave it there for a while. The downloading may be fast or slow depending on your connection (you can see how much data is being downloaded on the counter). If no data is shown, then probably you arent connecting to the mapping servers.
Basically, turn on online mode in maps, make sure positioning server is correct, and for good measure turn on A-GPS and network positioning (you're using data anyway).
I've already experience this a few times, off the top of my head I remember my maps just autocorrected on an instance where initially there was an error where one road was shown as two parallel roads in Ovi maps (been going through this road for months then and used to the mistake), but the next day, it was corrected without me having to download new maps.

How to add a new mapping file

I am using SSIS (SQL Server 2008) to replicate from an ODBC source (using .NET Framework Data Provider for ODBC) to SQL Server.
I am using the Import/Export Wizard and encountering the problem described in KB 152728:

I tried creating a new mapping file by copying an existing one (DB2ToMSSql10.XML), renaming it ODBCToMSSql10.XML (as near as I can tell, the filename doesn't matter), and changing the SourceType line:

Is there anything else I need to do? I was expecting I might find a file that SSIS uses to figure out which mapping file to use, but I was unsuccessful, so I think it looks at the SourceType line.
The following is the full output of the dialog - perhaps I should be modifying DTS\binn\DtwTypeConversion.xml instead? But that seems messier than creating a new file in DTS\MappingFiles:

Where and how can I get new maps for my Nokia 330?

Shortly after having bought my 330, I discovered a missing highway, hence I really need a map upgrade.
However, no map upgrade is available at Nokia's website, and neither is one at the Route 66 website. It looks like the maps are from Navteq and that I should buy a new one at Navteq's website, but the 330 isn't listed there.
So, am I true if I buy a new map from Navteq for my Nokia 330 running Route 66 Navigate 7?
Help would be greatly appreciated

I have exactly the same problem of a very poor satellites level since the beginning.
I am also a little bit disappointing about the number of contact points to send back the GPS. When I bought the GPS, I was thinking that NOKIA will have a strong support, good sofware update, etc... Unfortunately, the GPS N330 is stopping to work at certain time, this is why now I understand the Reset button, so I have to reset it several time.
So I am not happy at all, and when I will have the opportunity I will buy another GPS from a manufacturer which is specialised with the GPS
For the small story, I bought at the same time a N70, and I am not happy also, as it cuts the running communication, it resets sometime without any explanation..
So it was the first times, but now hat will be the latest.

Adding new map in apex 4.0

I've just installed new apex and it looks nice
But as I've found the map of Poland is way out of date (administration plan has changed in 1999 but guys from AnyMap just missed that ;D )
I've downloaded new map in .shp format and converted it to .amap format (needed for AnyMap) then i've placed it in map /i/ folder
The problem is that it doesn't work :/
I can ink to this map but apex is shouting on me with errors :/
Is there anyone who done this and have succeed ?

Thank you for bringing this issue with the Poland map to our attention. I've logged bug 9880137 to track this issue, and will hopefully have a revised AnyChart poland.amap file for a future release. In the meantime, I'm happy you were able to work around the issue yourself by obtaining an alternative map to use. For anyone else wishing to download an alternative map of Poland, you may want to check out this site offering free Shapefiles: http://downloads.cloudmade.com/europe/poland. The Shapefiles can be converted to .amap format using AnyChart's Map Converter: http://www.anychart.com/products/anymap/converter/. If you mean other folders then you need to create them in your email client e.g. in a browser (which you can only do in IMAP accounts, not POP account) - you can't create new folders in the Mail app itself

Im trying to find out were I can go and submit a email to add to all the other people who cannot stand this new maps app. I want the google app back now or they need to make it the exact same. I hate that you have to close it out and redo the whole direct

Hello. Ive never even wanted to use my time to do this. But this maps app is absolutly discusting. There are a couple cool things but for the most part its horrible. I drive for a living. So I use maps app all the time. This has affected how I do my job. Ill either get a android phone soon if apple doesnt fix this problem. I dont like that you have to redo your directions each time you shut your phone off instead of starting off were your current position is. I dont like that you cant swipe to the next turn you have to make so you can see ahead. I have no use for the 3D option. Thats cool for some and I understand that. But please take it back it to the way the old maps worked but keep the voice navigation. I do like the maps sceem. But people if this is not were I need to post this please let me know. email [email protected] email me people please if you can help me or tell me were to find were I can email apple so they can see this complaint. I dont want to sound like a complainer cause im not. I just dont like this new maps app. I love apple products. IOS is awesome.

They are actively working to improve the Apple Maps app.
It is extremely unlikely that you will get the Google Maps app back, as the built in app. Google may release an app one day in the app store.
You can alos look for other Map apps in the app store.

But they don't mention how to create such maps.

Maybe you are confused by the fact I used the word 'maps' instead of 'folders' (my natural Ianguage is Dutch).
For your question about the manual: on page 59 in the 'iPad 2 user guide' under 'organizing Email' they say you can move messages to a different mailbox or folder.

Selecting United States, for example, will use English units (feet and statute miles).

For example I have a mapping, but now I need to add new Filter or Aggregator operator, so I must delete all connections between attributes, then add new operator, connect source attributes to the input attribute for the operator and so on.
Is there way to turn down this operations, simply drop new operator on source object or on a connection between two objects, and necessary operations will be automatically executed.
As I remember in OWB2 something similar existed in a way to add new Filter operator.

Unfortunately there is not. What you should aim for, is to use the group-by-group mapping using match by name (with some additional options, such as ignore source/target prefix, suffix, etc.).
I.e. if you want to insert another operator, then I recommend you first populate attributes based on an operator that is currently on the mapping delete the old operator (to delete all connections), map into the new operator and add another operator in order to re-create what you previously had. I know it is not ideal... but in my experience it is the most productive way to work.
