Nokia 5310 - Display freeze problem

Hi,
I got a new Nokia 5310 last week and its doing great and i like it a lot, except for the following problem..
Problem description:
I find the phone display freezed and become grey and stopped responding to any keys..
this happened first time (on day two) with low battery and then started observing it frequently now (once in two days), when the phone is left with screen saver..,
at this state, when a call is made to phone, caller can hear the phone is ringing, but the phone is still dead..,
the only way to correct this is, remove the battery and reboot the phone.,
Query:
before going to nokia care centre, will this be a firmware bug (based on reported problems) or hardware bug(specific to my handset)??

Nokia 5310 MSN Freezing

I recently got a nokia 5310, the first day I got it the messengers started freezing, when I would go to the messenger page and hit ok on a messenger the phone would just freeze. I could get out of it by holding down the red button but then i wouldnt be able to go back into it until i rebooted the phone..The next day i took the phone back and got a replacement..Now the msn would let me log in once, but the next time I tried to log in it started freezing again..I can get my name and password typed in but when the popup screen where you have to hit i agree comes up and I hit agree it just freezes. The rest of the messengers seem to work fine, but msn, which i most commonly use doesnt.

i think there is no problem with ur phone but with ur messenger application u r using if u r messenger freak
go for this application Nimbuzz (http://nimbuzz.com/) or google it which has support to all messengers like MSN,google talk,Yahoo
i use it on My N73 ME and it rocks and the application is cool too

Nokia 5310 - key lock problem

I really like this phone but the only problem Im having is when Ive locked the keys (Menu + * key) Im sometimes finding it very slow to unlock as the screen seems to freeze. I have to repeatedly press the central menu key hard until the screen sparks back to life, then i can unlock the keypad again. Im sure this cant be right. Anyone else noticed this?
My firmware is 5.82

I am having the same problem. I want to eliminate the my 5310 Nokia from automatically locking the keys every 45 seconds, it really sucks having to press the unlock. I can't find the solution in the owners manual, so I am trying to
find the answer to remove the key lock. I cannot use a phone if all it does is puts on a keylock automatically.
Can you help me if you find the answer to remove the automatic keylock? I want to eliminte this.

Display freezing problems!! Please help

Im new to this forum and to MSI products but not to building machines. I am having the worst luck with my MSI KT6Delta LSR and MSI G4Ti4600-VT2D8X 128 meg active cooled Video card. I have 256megs of crucial PC2100 with a 20g Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm drive. The processor is a 2700 cooled by the cooler master cpu blower. Heat does not seem to be an issue on the card or processor.
I have reloaded XP pro with sp1 and all patches on the machine twice. The load goes smooth but then it starts acting stupid after a while. The display will freeze somewhat. I have never seen anything like this before. I can hit ctrl alt del but only get the splash screen. I cant even close this window.
I loaded Unreal tourn 2003 and have the vid settings to 800x600 32bit. This card should tear this game up at those settings but lags at times.
I have updated drivers for the Vid that I found on their site. I was thinking of trying to flash the bios on the board but dont want an instable system when flashing.
I have sent support requests to MSI but I dont get much of a response back from them. They have told me to try a different vid card and system memory.
Tonight I plan on bumping my FSB down to 133 to sync with the mem bus of 266. If this does not work I am going to try running pc2700 ram tomorrow night. Does this sound like a bus bottleneck problem?
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Nokia 5310 headphone jack problem

When i insert any headphones to the phone its not recognised. The headphone icon on top does not appear but the screen lights. What might be the problem?

Thanks for your post and sorry to hear of your issue.
Make sure the headphone jack is clean and there is no dirt or fluff in the jack. If you can get a small pin give the inside of the jack a clean to make sure nothing is in there. Then try to reinsert your headphones and see if this works.
If the problem persists and you have made sure the jack is clean and nothing in there then check to see if you have the latest software version installed. You can do this by using Nokia suite to check for updates. If no update exists then try to reinstall your current firmware. You can find a link to Nokia suite and guides on the below link:

It's not possible to add the language pack yourself.
What you need to do is take your phone to a nokia care point and they will be able to add the pack for you. They will also be able to explain to you why the language was lost.

Nokia C7 freeze problem

Hello. I use Nokia C7. All works fine but often when I surf the web browser, use skype, search updates and doing many other things my Nokia C7 freeze and dont (cant) resart. Only option to restart the phone is remove and insert battery. How to FIX this problem?

This problem has nothing to do with applications added or needing software updates. It is purely a hardware problem, there seems to be a fundamental flaw with the design of Nokia phones, and it is very disappointing that they are not more honest about the problem.
My Nokia C7 seems to freeze frequently when processing CPU intensive processes especially, such as trying to watch videos on the BBC iplayer or Youtube, but can happen anytime. The pattern seems to be with these phones (and the N8) that these freezes happen quicker and quicker as time goes on. It is just not good enough to say take the battery out, which is the ONLY way to reboot the phone, do other phone users of different manufacturers have to do this? Not in my experience.
I find it incredible that Nokia, with its dwindling share market, can release these phones without having fully tested them properly. You may have gathered that I feel rather disgruntled with Nokia, I have always had Nokia phones but I am now regretting my decision to start a new contract with this phone. I like it and the features, but what point is there in giving you applications such as the Navigation and the iplayer for example if you can't use them because of freezing.
I will be sending my C7 off for repair next week, in the hope that they have sorted out their hardware issue, but I say beware to anyone else with this phone. If you have had occasional freezing problems, then they will in all likelihood increase as the internal hardware degrades.

Problem with a nokia 5310 xpress and a bluetooth

i have problem with a nokia 5310 xpress and a bluetooth!i can transfer anything from my phone to pc with or without pc suite! but when i want to transfer files from pc to phone i doesen"t work! with pcsuite soethings work but very slow! i want to transfer files witout pcsuite !
the blue tooth adapter it is dongle and it the software that i use is BlueSoleil 2.6.08
CAn anyone help me?

Nokia 5310 problems/firmware/updates????

right people after buying my nokia 5310 a week ago i have changed it twice, first time the camera did not work, 2nd time the phone kept restarting whilst listening to music. Now i have a 3rd nokia 5310 and it has restarted twice whilst listening to music, it has also crashed whilst recieving a missed call. After doing research i understand there may be a new version of firmware available (v 3.63) does anybody know where to find the version as this may fix the problems???? i have also read that it is a mp3 codec problem that causes the phone to restart so we should change them to mp4s using nokia pc suite this has fixed the problem for most people with nokia 5310s. IF ANYBODY HAS V 3.63 OR KNOWS WHERE TO DOWNLOAD IT COULD YOU LET US KNOW PLEASEEEEEEEEE!!!!! THANX

Nokia PC Suite - problem ejecting Nokia 5310 Xpres...

I just got myself a brand-new Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone. I like the phone and am very satisfied with it.
However I have a problem.
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Nokia PC Suite from the website.
I then can connect (via the USB-cable) and work with PC Suite without a problem but when I want to disconnect the phone in the correct way and click the "Disconnect USB" button next to the Windows clock in the task-bar the warning message that can be seen in this link shows up after about 3-4 seconds:

I have checked the task-manager but can't see any Nokia program running anymore (unless I overlooked something).
So now my question is...
How do I fix this and is it harmful to my phone or pc if I keep pulling out the cable after this message appears (since I don't have much choice if I want to use the phone)?
Maybe, it's necessary to mention that I run XP SP3, completely updated on a brand-new pc with high-end grade hardware, fully protected with antivirus, firewall etc., no malware-detections at all and that I have so far not experienced any problems with neither pc nor phone meaning that whatever I did (transfers of files, uploads, sending sms etc.) worked until now to satisfaction.

You are saying that if I run PC Suite and disconnect the phone without transferring files in that moment or committing any other action that requires data-flow between the phone and the pc I'll be okay.
Is that correctly understood?
I don't know what you meant by "Nokia Mode" and don't understand the difference between "USB Transfer Mode" and "Mass Storage Mode". Is there any???
Finally, what is the story with the error-message that keeps coming every time I try to disconnect the phone in system tray via the icon? It shouldn't be there now should it???

Screen freeze on nokia 5310 xpressmusic

i recently bought a nokia 5310 xpress music phone and when i turn it on it says "unable to switch on push to talk" then it allows me to view menu for a while then it freezes.. I've taken it to the phone shop to get it sorted but apparently it will cost £47 to fix.. anone any suggestions????????

do you not have warranty anymore on this phone? if you are in Europe the warranty from nokia is for EU at least and UK 2 yrs i belive. if you are out of the warranty period you may have to pay for the repair. before you do that is your phone udpaded with the latest firmware? if it is not then i suggest you update via NSU (nokia software updater) you can download it from nokia site. and try to see if there is an update for your phone.

I bought my 5310 two days ago but none of my applications that require internet access such as yahoo go! and opera mini work, and I can't install new ones either (I tried tiny twitter).

well, this is not exactly a reply.I too have a big problem with my nokia 5310; it has a previous firmware version, and when I tried to update it last week from nokia website, I had a pop up at the end of the update which said that there was a problem while updating the firmware. I unplugged the phone, the screen was frozen, so I switched it off and since, it does not switch on. I have the nokia screen and then it turns white. Can anyone tell me what happened and whether the phone is just good for the bin now?

I am opening this topic because i feel very frustrated about my nokia recent aquisition. At the 22 of this month (6 days ago) i have bought a nokia 5310 in a People´s Phone store.
The design of the mobile is very attractive and most functions too, that were the main reasons for my aquisition. Now the worst part, as many of you guys the first weeks after i bought a mobile phone are sacred, o treat my mobile as a baby, bought a silicone "wallet", dont know the word in english, dont mix it in the pockets with the keys to avoid scratchs, etc etc etc. However even being so carefull a strange thing happend yestarday, i was driving in my car and suddenly at my mobile and the display was all black. I went to the store wondering what was happening to my mobile and they told me the display was broken however there isnt any exterior sign on bad use or falls of the mobile, as i told you previously i just bought it 5 days ago. I have asked to exchange for another phone as that was very strange the told me they cannot do that because the phone its broken even there isnt a sign of a bad use then cant trade with a new. They also told me that they can send to nokia however they wont do anything because its broken and when its broken the fault seem to be always of the client.
I am really frustrated spend 110€ in a mobile, give it the best treatment and now 5 days after bought its BROKEN!
What you guys think i can, should? What you guys would do?

All you can do is to contact Nokia directly using the "Contact us" tab to the top right of this screen and put forward your case the best you can. You never know what they might do for you. You won't know until you try.

Nokia 5310 Comes With Music problem

I've had my Nokia 5310 and Comes with Music since December and have yet to figure out how to transfer the music I've gotten from Comes with Music.
I've spent aeons on the phone to Nokia customer services and we have figured out so much as it's not the memory card, the phone, the registration with comes with music, or my computer.
I've managed to go through Windows Media Player and transfer OLD music to my phone which plays as normal. When I transfer a comes with music song, it says there is an error. Then I check my phone and the song is on there... But when I press it to play it says, "recieving activation key" and "subscribe to packet data first". I took a stab at what this means and got personal configuration settings for MMS and Sych and Streaming but they dont seem to work, because I still can't send picture messages. Go figure.
Can anyone help? I payed for this and it's not working, no one seems to know whats wrong.

If you can't sent pictures thru mms, then its not properly configured for your phone. I would advice you to give your provider a call & have the configuration for packet services sent to you, or give you instruction on how to do it with your phone. Ask also what services are being offered to you.
