Nokia 5530 switches off when making/receiving call

Hello , i have strange problem with nokia 5530. Its just switches off when making/recieving a call. I read nokia discussion of Europe and USA. there are number users who have same problems i have it now.
I've gone to nokia care and hope they can give me a perfect solutions. As i have read all the posts about this problem , i m bit worried whether my mobile will be repaired or not. Stil now i havent found any post which 100 tells me about solution for this problem

I've tried to remove the micro SD, it happens again, I'veno idea how to solve, please help me, after this if not I will throwthe solution near the wall and try it, very tired, treat this nokia5530, please who want help me?

I have a real problem, my Nokia 5530 turns off if I try to make a call or receive one, the only way it will work is if the headset is pluggeed in, I have tried everything, Restoring Factory settings, Hard reset etc...
Anyone else have this problem? Help...

I have exactly the same problem. I Went to a Nokia Care Point in Lisbon and they upgraded the firmware to the New one ( 11.0.054 ), but with no success.
I tried old SIM Cards, Newest SIM Cards, With / Without Memory Card, Factory Settings, nothing Worked. I Guess it´s probably hardware, maybe a faulty battery.
I ´ll have to send it to repairment..it´s really upsetting.

N85 switches off when making/receiving calls.

Hi,
had my N85 6 months now and have been very happy with it, until this morning.
When I try to make a call, or press "answer" to receive a call, it switches itself off.
Same when accessing voicemail.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, if there a solution?

I had the same problem after my phone went for swim in a pool for a bit.
I found on the web that I could do 3 things to see if it fixed it or not.
1. Upgrade the Software Version. Mine is now at v31.002. I did the update using the Nokia Update Application running on my PC.
Result: Did not fix the problem. Cost: Free
2. Replace the Battery. I noticed that my battery didn't hold it's change very well even after 24 hours on the charger.
Result: Did not fix the problem: Cost: $55NZD
3. Replace the ear piece. Bought a Nokia replace part on ebay UK.
Result: IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. Cost: $2.99UKD
It was pretty easy to replace the ear piece, you just need a T4 philips screw driver and something (I used a plastic scraper used for cleaning my oven tray) that will slide in between the slider gap (I saw a quick demo on YouTube) to pop open the front cover when to take the 4 screws out. Just be careful with the plastic piece around the Navi button as it can easily pop-out and tricky to get back into place.

Screen turns off when making a call, wont go back on until I end call.

How do I get the screen to turn back on when I am making a call? I dont know how this happened. I didnt drop my phone or anything and now when making a call the screen turns off. I tapped the screeen and tilted the phone and it still didnt turn on. I am unable to put call on speakerphone or select any other options. HELP!

The screen turns off during a call. The light sensor senses that your face is near and turns it off to conserve battery life. If you have to access the screen for a function i.e. to enter an extension number, the sensor once again senses the difference in light and turns the screen back on.
That much you probably already knew; that was mostly for the benefit of others reading this thread. If your screen is not turning back on, it's a software issue. The quickest and most effective cure for software issues is the good ol' battery pull. With your phone powered on, remove the battery then replace it a few seconds later.
That should help. Please post back with your results.

I just bought my new Nokia 5530 Xpress Music and in only one day i got this problem 3 times when i receive any call or i call to someone it get hagged and sometime restart automatically and sometime i would have to remove the battery .. after updating the firmware its doing same problem .... please kindly give me the possible solution if you can help and one thing more im new user not very fimilier to these please guide me in little details ..

It could possibly be a memory card problem. You could take out the memory card and test a few calls on it. If you have a spare one try to use it for a day or two and see what happens to see if my presumption is right.
Alternatively, you can just go ahead and use Ovi suite to back up your card and format it. The problem here is that the corrupted file may also be backed up, so I suggest that at first you only should restore the most important data.

Problems When Making/ Receiving Calls

My I phone will make calls but I can only hear the dialling tone when on loudspeaker.
I can only speak with people on loudspeaker (Where they can hear me and I can hear them)
The normal handset way I hear nothing.
Any ideas why this may be and how I can make this work,

This seems to be a widespread issue, I just finished reading a three page thread in another area of the forum.
Mine never worked right out of the box. Unfortunately, I didn't come to realize this until after I had left the AT&T store.
When making a conventional call, the person on the other end cannot hear me unless I switch to speakerphone. I have a scheduled appointment with Apple this morning, let's see what they say about it. Based on what I have read so far, it sounds like I will have to get a replacement.

Nokia 603 switches off when the sim is inserted

My Nokia 603 is not working fine. It is not working with the sim inserted in it. It goes off when the sim is inserted in it and works fine as the sim is removed . Any how if I managed to turn on the phone with the sim inserted then it works only in the offline mode . As I change the mode from offline to general or any other it goes off.. Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your phone. Did something happen prior to that? Is the phone unlocked? Did you perform a soft or a hard reset before it happens? Did you follow the user guide on how to properly insert the SIM card on the phone? Please try doing the troubleshooting below.
1. If you have not performed a soft reset (*#7780#), please do
2. Determine the physical condition of the SIM card. Try to use a different SIM card.
3. Insert your SIM card to different phone.
4. Perform a hard reset (*#7370#).
5. Find out if your phone is running on the latest software.
Let us know if this resolves your issue.

Phone stops working when making/receiving calls. Screen turns off.

Hi all..
I just recieved my Pre3 Yesterday and everything seems to be working fine except that when I recieve or make calls, the screen turns itself off and stops responding, although the call continues to be made as normal.
This means the only way I can hang up, or do anything, is to remove the battery and restart the phone!
Does anybody have any ideas as to what I may be able to do?
Im located in the UK by the way.

There are a number of hardware devices that you may want to look at. Some of them require that the iPhone be placed into a "base station" in order to work. It's an issue with hundreds of phones. Some claim it's software related, some hardware, some say it's a mixture of both.
Some people have had temporary success with quitting the Phone.app / restoring as a new phone / restoring from an iCloud backup / disabling Siri / toggling speakerphone on & off...
Unfortunately all of the above only been temporary, with the problem recurring again after a few calls, or a few days etc.
So far the only solution that seems permanent has been to replace the phone. But even so, it's the luck of the draw to recieve a functional phone, and not another faulty one.
I'm completely annoyed as there is no Apple Store near me...... and Apple haven't even acknowledged the issue, despite the above thread being 34 pages long, as of writing.

Screen switches off when I dial and hit call button

When I select a contact from my list n hit call button or dial a number and hit call button the screen switches off even though the call is going on still. For example if I want to give a missed call it is not possible as the screen is going blank. Is there any setting for it?

I agree with @Quester. If you don't have a case or screen protector on the handset you could try clearing the cache or data for the Phone app by going into Settings > Apps > All > scroll down to Phone > tap Clear cache/data. (Try clearing cache first and if it doesn't work go back and tap clear data and test again). If this doesn't help then follow @Uliwoolys suggestion, here are additional steps on running the repair:
back up using PC Companion
1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows computer.
2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
(Exactly what contents will be backed up may differ depending on phone model.
You can view detailed information about this as you follow the steps in the Backup & Restore wizard).
back up using Bridge for Mac
1. Launch Bridge For MAC.
2. Select "Back up your Xperia device".
3. Select the data you wish to back up from your device (the windows can be expanded for more detail as below; then select "Next".
4. The backup will now be in process, do not disconnect the phone while this runs.
Running the software repair on PC Companion:
1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps
Running the software repair on Bridge for Mac:
1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
4. Select Continue on the following page.
5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.
If this still doesn't resolve the issue then I would reccommend contacting your local Sony Xperia Customer Care team asap.

Lumia 520 red light while making/receiving calls

I noticed there is a small red light blinking on top of screen just near the speaker, where you hear the voice while calling. This happens while making/receiving call, a small red light blinks/stays on near speaker.
Sometimes the light goes off when i press the lock button while making calls.

What you're seeing is the proximity sensor of the device. This will activate once you receive or make a call. The main purpose of the proximity sensor is to disable the screen whenever you put the phone near your ear. This is to prevent you from accidentally disconnecting the call. This also works just by covering the sensor using your hand or any object. This feature is available to all other Nokia touch screen devices. Hope this helps. It sounds like you are still hearing the phone line ringing even after the person you call answers the line. I would try the troubleshooting outlined in this article:

Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a carrier settings update.
Check for an iOS software update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
If the iPhone has a SIM card, reseat the SIM card.
If the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s is on the Verizon network, dial *228 from the iPhone and select option 2 to update the Preferred Roaming List (PRL). The PRL determines the cellular towers the phone uses for cellular service, selecting those with the best signal strength.
Reset the network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try to make or receive calls in another location.
Attempt to isolate to one network band:
If you're having the issue on LTE, disable LTE, if possible, and try again.
If you're having the issue on 3G/4G, disable 3G/4G, if possible, and try again.
Contact the carrier to check the following:
Your account is properly configured to use the specific iPhone that has the issue.
There are no localized service outages.
