Nokia 5800 does not display contact names

With some of my contacts an incoming call with a Caller ID does not display the caller's name, although they are in my Contact List and the number is in a valid format.Same is the case for sms's from the same contact.I only have one entry of that contact in my phonebook...Any 1 facing the same issue?

This is inevitably caused by duplicate entry, (many posts already exist) check settings in options in contacts and make sure memory in use is phone memory. Then you need to go through contacts and make sure you don't have more than one name attached to each number .

I've got the same problem, sort of. One person in particular has a Vodaphone branded 6234, which insists on sending the number as a fully qualified international, that is, with the +61nnnnnnnnn.
I imported the contacts from a Sony-Ericsson on my SIM, which worked fine and they seem to have migrated seamlessly into the phone memory (I didn't do it!!!!!), and there are no duplicates. Other numbers show the person's names, but not this number,
My phone details are:

Nokia 6110 (24.01)
I've deleted the contact from SIM, re-entered it from the keyboard, copied it to the SIM, all in various combinations -- nothing works. This person/number has NEVER been duplicated (apart from the SIM and phone memory).
Is this something I have to live with, or is there a fix?

I am also having problems with a site I am building. No matter what websafe font I use it displays as New Times Roman in FireFox. The correct fonts show in both IE9 and Chrome.
In addition, text shifts in FireFox. I have to position other text objects farther and farther apart as I go down the page or they start to overlap. Nav buttons and other images also have to be positioned in the wrong place for them to be in the correct place when the page is opened in FireFox. FireFox should display pages correctly by default. I can't expect th average user to have to tweek his/her settings to display my site.
I have been recommending FireFox on my website as the best browser. I might have to change that and abandon FireFox myself.

Messages on Mac app not displaying contact name

On Messages on my Mac, despite being synced up with iCloud, the Messages app does not display the contact names of anyone. It shows their phone numbers or Apple email addresses. Is there any preference I can change to make it show the contact names? If it exists I haven't found it. I also used the app meant to scrub contacts to make the phone number format conform with Apple's standard (xxx) xxx-xxxx please help!

I take it you are no longer on OS X 10.7.2 ?
The display of Names (and/or Pics) in Buddy Lists and the main Messages window (when in a Chat) in Mountain Lion is controlled from the View Menu > Buddy Names.
To set this choice the window has to be the "Front" one.
So the Messages window (CMD + 0 in the window Menu) gets brought to the Front when any sort of Text Chat is going On.
the View Menu > Buddy Names items is selected and navigation to the choice you want.
Full names is the First name, Last name as seen in the Contacts app (Formerly the Address Book)
Short Names are Nicknames (normally set via Messages) or First name only if no Nickname exists.
Handle is the Screen Names (If AIM), Jabber ID (If Facebook, GoogleTalk or other Jabber ID) or in the case of iMessages the current contact ID or iPhone number.
You can do the same to any Buddy list that you also display.
It can be used in Conjunction with the View Menu > Messages which has options to display Pics, Names or Pics and Names.
(Names now refers to whatever is set in the "Buddy Names" option).

I have the same problem.
I was watching 3G TV on RealPlayer when suddenly RealPlayer crashed. This made the Home screen shortcuts disappear, and the Dial Pad and Contacts Pad stopped working.
I managed to get the shortcuts back, and to recover the Dial Pad and Contacts, by deleting a file in c:\private (but I should not talk about this here).
Anyway, now, the streaming links existing previously to the crash do not display, as the original poster says, the list refreshes itself but appears empty.
The links are there though, because when I try to re-save the same link, RealPlayer creates a TV_H26401 link, as the TV_H264 link already exists.
Is there a way to reset the list, or clear it, or to recover it? Maybe by deleting some hidden file which holds the list? No, I am NOT doing a soft or hard reset to solve this problem :-)

ADF swing: JTabbedPane does not display column names.

Hi all,
I have created an ADF Panel, which allows the user to run a few simple queries against an Oracle database done using ADF view objects and ADF view links and ADF application module.
From the data control area I drag and drop a view link containing a query into a JTabbedPane. But when I run the ADF panel, JTabbedPane does not display the column headers from the SQL as opposed to JScrollPane which does.
Suppose you do a select * from departments(dep_id, manager, state_cd), you will see all column headers meaning dep_id, manager, state_cd, and under each column the corresponding data which was retuned by the SQL if you use JScrollPane. But if you use you use JTabbedPane then you would only see the data which was retuned by the SQL without seeing the column header names meaning dep_id, manager, state_cd.
What do I need to do to make JTabbedPane display columns headers?
I would appreciate your input.

JScrollPane should be used. You can add this into a JTabbedPane if you like. Not all Swing panel show table headers

Nokia 5800 - does not synchronise calendar and con...

I have my Nokia 5800 Exp Music connected by USB CABLE to PC Suite 7.0.9.2 (that is the version recommened on the Nokia site for 5800). The laptop is on 32 bit Vista Enterprise.
PC Suite does not sychronise MS Outlook Calendar and Contacts - the following WARNING message is displayed
PC Sync information.
PC Sync has encountered a problem and has terminated the synchronisation.
Possible Solution
Please check your Synchronisation settings and ensure your phone is in the Idle state, then restart the Synchronisation.
Can someone pls help.

Nokia 5800 Does not recognize Outlook 2007

My cel is Nokia 5800 Express Music. Until yesterday my agenda and messages at Microsoft Outlook 2007 synchronized correctly using PC Suite 2.2.0.241. A message in PC Suite appeared suggesting to upgrade to version 2.2.1.23. After upgrading PC Suite does not recognizes Microsoft Outlook 2007 and I cannot synchronize again. I uninstalled version 2.2.1.23 and reinstalled version 2.2.o.241 but it does not work as it request to upgrade to the last version. Please, help me what to do as this feature is of greatest importance for me.

In addition to the previous message asking help, I am using Windows 7 and the connection of the cellular to the PC is through the Nokia cable I received with the phone.

Nokia 5800 does not recognise Ipod headphones??

Just got a 5800 and found that the phone does not appear to recognise my Ipod 'phones'. Is this a known fault or proprietary issue between Nokia and Apple or have I just missed something!!
Any ideas please?

Nokia 5800: Does not recognize M4A files with uppe...

I use linux, and when I recently copied over two M4A tracks (I did not realize they had UPPER case extensions), they were not recognized during library refresh and did not show in the Music Player application. They did show in the File manager. Windows cannot rename such a file to .m4a, and neither can the 5800. The workaround was to rename the file to a bogus or no extension and then rename it to .m4a lower case.
This is probably a bug since the music player should be file name case insensitive.

Iḿ desperatly looking for a way to sync my Nokia 5800 under linux. Did you find a way? So far I once had a contection thrugh multisync but it ended with errors and i didn find any data transfered.
It is time nokia comes with Ovi or Pc Suite for linux ! Currently when I google on the subject I get a lot of tech talk and failures no clear working sollution. Can you help!?

SMS does not show contact name

I have an iPhone 4. I recently switched to using exchange as my contact list so I can have all my contacts (business and private) at the same place.
My problem is that the contact names do not always show up on text messages. A few contacts work but there is no visible difference in the ones that work and those that don't. Also I have added the country code to the phone number and that does not solve the problem either. I have tried deleting the contacts and recreating them. I have tried to delete all the history of a given number and start the sms conversation again picking the name from the adress book - right after the message was sent it switched the name to the number.
Also I have tried restarting the phone and resynced it to iTunes.
Can anyone help me? This is really not possible to live with.

3) Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating something like, "Settings updated."

6) Open the Message App to verify the fix

My nokia 5800 does not turn on after update??

i updated my nokia 5800 yesterday, and it a 100% bt then my phone restarted by it self (as it normally should) then the usb connection came up after it turned on i clicked pc suite bt then there was an error and it said to take out the usb and the battery, so i followed this and now my phone will not turn on, any help?

He means shut the phone down, take out the memory card and start it up again. Then shut it down, replace the memory card and turn it on again. I don't know if that will fix your problem, but that was the instruction...........

Sometimes, when I try to turn my phone on, it doesn't work.
It vibrates a bit (the normal), but it doesn't appear nothing on the screen.

Try to remove battery, then memory card, put battery back on without m. card, and turn it on. If it works, your memory card may be corrupted. See under discussion memory card problem, may save first all information (back up) then restore; a hard resetting then may be on option.. Also type in your problem on discussions and you will find answers from the veterans...
All this guys starting with "psychomania" and more on, are wonderful. They save me in the past and also saved Nokia... Thank you guys all, and God BLESS YOU...

5800 does not display caller's name :/

ok I did my research on the net before posting here. Apparently there's no solution. NOKIA's done something wrong and please correct me if I am mistaken.
The only way to display ALL (not just a few) contacts when they are calling (in my case/phone), is to have them stored in SIM card ONLY. But if I do this I cannot put them in shortcut on the front screen. The phone says (when I am calle to pick a contact frm the list) that there are no contacts..!!! How did they mess this up so badly??
Anyone has any idea how to fix this?
PS There are no duplicate entries.
PS2 I have the latest firmware

To add the names and numbers stored on the SIM card to the contacts list in Contacts,
1. Press the ‘Menu’ key (white key).
2. Tap ‘Contacts’ and ‘Open’ (press the Navi key).
* If this is the first time you have used the phone, it will ask you ‘Copy new SIM contacts to Contacts?’, tap ‘Yes’ (left soft key). If this doesn’t happen then continue with the steps below.
3. Tap ‘Options’ (left soft key).
4. Tap ‘Settings’.
5. Tap ‘Contacts to display’.
6. Tap the contacts you wish to have displayed and a tick will appear next to them, then tap ‘OK’ (left soft key).
7. Tap ‘Back’ (right soft key).
8. SIM card contacts will now show up on the contacts screen, with a SIM card icon next to them.
To copy contacts from your SIM to your phone,
1. Press the ‘Menu’ key (white key).
2. Tap ‘Contacts’ and ‘Open’ (press the Navi key).
3. Tap ‘Options’ (left soft key).
4. Tap ‘Mark/Unmark’, you can now either mark the contact that you have highlighted, or mark all your contacts.
5. Tap ‘Options’ (left soft key).
6. Tap ‘Copy’.
7. Tap ‘Phone memory’
