Nokia 6500 classic & BMW

I have just received a nokia 6500 classic from Father Xmas! I specifically asked for this phone as I have an 07 reg BMW 3 series and the 6500 was recommended by them as a good phone to bluetooth with the car - also they supply a charging/USB cradle for this model. Anyway I have successfully managed to pair the phone and car but cannot get any of the numbers in the address book to bluetooth across. This means that I can't look up a number whilst driving but have to manually look up the number on the phone, write it down then dial in using the communication option in the car - not so good when travelling down a motorway.
I've noticed that someone else has asked a similar question about a Tom Tom but no reply was posted.
Any ideas/suggestions will be gratefully received!

You might want to check the BMW Bluetooth compatibility list. It is available at the bmw web site. The list contains the supported phones, features and firmware levels.
I have a 2006 BMW 5 Series, a 6500c and the BMW-Snap-In adapter cradle and the latest bmw-software in the car. Phone numbers work fine but the phone resets sporadically when plugged in the cradle.
Very annoying situation, since both BMW and Nokia blame the other party for the problem. I've told the BMW dealer that I'm completely sick of Bluetooth and my next car will definititly require a fixed phone implementation.

Nokia 6500 classic is being an Pain!

I've had a Nokia 6500 classic for a few months now and the main charger wont charge the phone. But on top of this the USB charger only charges the phone to about half way and then stops. Any ideas on how to get this phone charged, the only options I know is get a new charger or send the phone for repair, but I'm trying to avoid these if there is some other way.

Most likely it's a hardware problem.Take ur phone to your local nokia care point to solve the problems.

Nokia 6500 Classic Help Needed!

Helo i have a Nokia 6500 Classic and i want to do a hard reset, it's also called factory settings.
I'm not sure if the code to reset the phone to the factory settings has been edited.
But i have tried 12345 and the phone says the code is wrong.
So anyone who has an idea, or know how to force a reset to the factory settings?

First thing is to make the Basics right... Hard Reset and Factory resets are two totally different things..Your Phone being an S40, you can not perform the Hard Reset.. As for Factory reset.. Go to Menu-->settings -->Restore Factory settings..and the Security code when prompted.. As you have mentioned the default code is 12345 unless changed by you...and if you have forgotten that then the ONLY way to get it reset to the default is thru' Nokia Care. Ownership proof (Bill / Invoice) may be asked if you decide to get it done...

Using My Nokia 6500 Classic as a Modem

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how can I use my Nokia 6500 Classic as a modem? I believe it is through PC Nokia Suite, but I am not a techy person at all. Any help will be much appreciated.

PC suite is only for pc/laptop you can't install it on your handset. One can only know if his/her packet services are configured properly & been included in the contract by using it like gprs. wap etc. Some provider downloads the configuration automatically once the sim card is activated for others its manual. The only way to know it, is to call T-mobile & enquire about it. When you have installed the pcsuite, then the hand set & pc are connected, & then you try to connect to internet by clicking the icon, if your packet service are not properly configure it will give an error of "no packet service are available".
Knowledge not shared is knowledge wasted!

What is the source of the music? If it is paid-for downloads then there might be a special method you have to follow to make sure the digital rights licences are transferred as well as the files.
For example, stuff from Nokia Music Store can should be synchronised with Windows Media Player 10 or 11 or using the Nokia Music app. Music downloaded from elsewhere may have other procedures that you need to follow to move music to another device.

Nokia 6500 classic - unlocked lock sign

Can someone please help me,I bougnt a Nokia 6500 classic and everytime I make a call, receive a call or get / send a message my my phone shows me an unlocked lock sign when the call is in progress or message is being send?
What is this for? Is it normal or how do I get it to go away, none of my previous nokia's did the same!
Please help me urgently.

I have noticed that this sometimes happens with these series 40 phones. It used to happen occasionally with my 6233 and has also happened with the 6500 Slide. It could be a network related issue, but unless it actually affects the calls or text messages, I would ignore it if I were you. Just worry about whether the phone is working fine otherwise.

1. Take off the battery for 1 minute then put it back on

Nokia 6500 classic, GPRS always connected?

I recently purchased a nokia 6500 classic on Three,
There is always a G in a box at the top of the screen.
Ive looked in the manual it means that there is a GPRS connection estabiashed, Ive looked through the settings i cant find any options.
how do i turn off the connection?

I've got the self same problem (same phone, same network).
You *should* be able to disable this, there's a menu option and everything, but it doesn't work (for me at least).
I've come to the conclusion that it's a fault with the firmware.
Don't expect a fixed version any time soon (if at all).
Be wary about beating your head against the brick-wall that is their *cough* customer services department. They've made me practically livid (and I'm generally a quite mild mannered person) by telling me all kinds of cr...rubbish about why this connection is there. Only ONE person has acknowledged that this might even be a fault. It's been away for repair for this matter (and some other issues) but still persists.

Nokia 610 car kit and Nokia 6500 Classic phone

Has anyone else had problems connecting a Nokia 6500 Classic to a Nokia 610 car kit. The handset won't remember the pairing and I have to enter the 16 digit passkey every time I start up the car, even althouth the "remember pairing" feature is activated. Other models of Nokia handsets connect fine

I have managed to download the contacts with the N95 by installing the "download Contacts" application on the N95.
You HAVE to make sure that the paring between the two phones is deleated, then that the "download contacts" app is running on the N95 before assigning the SIM again from the 610, entering the passcode and then choose YES to the questian "Download contacts?"
The only problem is then that the contacts display as Lastname/firstname as opposed to firstname/lastname which is my preference and I cannot for the life of me seem to be able to change this. Still I cant have everything I suppose. At least its keeping the pairing without having to enter the passcode everytime which is still the case with the 6500.
Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this passcode problem? Or been able to display the contacts downloaded from an N95 as firstname/lastname?

Reset the iPod. To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

PIN and PUK Nokia 6500 Classic

Just today I bought Nokia 6500 Classic mobile. I have charged the batery for about 2-3 h. It was doing very well, but the problem now is: on the screen I see "PIN blocked. Inter PUK code".
Is there anybody caould advise?

call ur network/service provider for this puk, it may be contained within the documentation you received with your sim card, but if you cannot find it just call them, if u enter the puk incorrect 10times you sim card will be useless and not even god will be able to unblock it.

I have a nokia 616 car kit and when I try and pair the 6500 it goes into remote sim mode, where I want to use Hands free but cannot find anywhere to chnage this.
Any help how to turn it off the nokia 6500?

The speakers on the 6500's are rubbish. Have got 5 X 6500 slides and 1 X 6500 classic at work. All have had both the speakers replaced, a couple twice, plus other issues.
