Nokia 6555's external screen turns on alone?

Hi,
I've just bought a nokia 6555 (and hope I won't regret it!) and something seems weird: sometimes, without touching the phone, the external screen with the analogic watch turns on alone...
Do you know what could make that happen?
Just hope that there won't be any battery problem, like it seems to be for most people who owned a nokia 6555.... :s
 Thanks

So I went to an apple store today, and explained them my problem. We tried a new "mini-dvi to vga" adapter but still the external screen was green!! Also, when using my adapter that I supposed was broken on another PB the output singal was perfect! So as it turns out, it's my PB thats not working properly..
The guys at the store said it must be somthing with the motherboard.. I just don't think I can miss my PB for more than a few days!! :P

  • External screen turns green?

I've had this setup for a while now.. A 12 inch PB with a CRT 17 inch monitor connected to the PB through the "mini dvi to vga" adapter..
Now this is the problem: since a few days the image on my external screen is green.. It's not totally green, i can see pictures and programs but it's like the color balance isn't right.
First I tried to change this through display calibration -> didnt help
Then i tried to manually adjust the color balance through the screen display settings -> didn't help..
So I thought my crt monitor was broken. But then I connected my PB to another external screen trough my "mini dvi to vga" adapter. And I had the same green screen. Then I knew it wasn't my crt monitor that was broken but it had something to do with my output signal..
Fortunately a friend of mine has a nice 20 inch tft display. I tested the connection again with the "mini dvi to vga" adapter and got the same green screen. But then I connected my PB to his 20 inch screen through a "mini dvi to dvi" adapter and the green was gone! So it couldn't be the output singal of my PB..
So i figured my "mini dvi to vga" adapter must not work properly somehow. I don't know how it could have broken. It happened just like that. I turned off my PB, and when I turned it back on the external screen turned green. I didn't do anything weird with it..
Could this be? That the adapter is broken? Or do you guys think there might be something wrong with the output signal after all?
    Anyone encountered something similar?

  • RMBP - external screen turns black for a few seconds every once in a while

My external screen (Dell U2711) connected via Thunderbolt to Displayport cable turns black every once in a while. The rMBP is in clamshell mode. When it starts it randomly blackens the screen for 2 seconds with an interval of 10 seconds to 5 minutes. A restart usually fixes the issue but it keeps coming back after some time.
Has anybody here experienced something similar?
What can be the cause of that?
This really starts to annoy me, because it seems I have to do reboot everytime I connect my laptop to my screen.

Never had the sort of problem - but then I've an Apple Thunderbolt Display and it just 'works'.
Could be that you're adapter is shot. You could buy a (or some) new ones from Monoprice (much cheaper than what Apple's third-party solutions sell for) and see if that's the problem.
Sorry I can't offer a more helpful solution...

  • A brand new W540 and the Ultra Dock humms, black out external screen, won't recognize mouse and some

Just received a W540 and an Ultra Dock. Here is my first impressions.
During setup ... tried to connect my speakers directly onto the laptop.... HUMMMMM! (really loud humming sound, until Windows loads ...sounds like a short somewhere ...). Ok, obviously sound is not the main focus of W540.
After a little while... boink! ... and the external screen goes black accompanied with the "Windows detected something disconnect"-sound. No matter what I clicked on the keyboard, or how much a moved the mouse, the external screen wouldn't turn on again. I had to flip up the screen on the laptop, and tada, Windows reported that something connected again, and the external screen turned on again. Turns out that I need to keep the laptop screen open at all times now, and now and then both screens disconnect and connect again. Not completely a showstopper, but somewhat annoying. Ok, how to fix - enter "lenovo ultra dock black screen" in Google and see that a bunch of people have experienced the same thing. After some reading, I found this official support page "LENOVO THINKPAD PRO DOCK AND THINKPAD ULTRA DOCK ARE CAUSING DISPLAY ISSUES ON EXTERNAL MONITORS" (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht081248). Seems to fit my situation perfectly. Just download the fwdphb03.exe program and follow the instructions. But does fwdphb03.exe even start?!? NO!
Just a brief flicker and no application nor instructions to follow. In addition, I am Administrator on my machine. Please make applications that at least attempt to work....
I have an Aten mouse and keyboard switch (KVM) (CS-1784 to be precise), which have been working seamlessly for years on all other machines I have (VMWare images with different Windows versions, Raspberry Pi and Mac). Connecting the KVM with it's mouse and keyboard renders a working keyboard and a dead mouse (remember - switching to one of the other machines renders working keyboard and mouse instantly).... <rant on>pheeew, starting to get a bad feeling here. OBVIOUSLY we have a lot of cool hardware like USB 3 and DisplayPort and what not, but WHAT DOES THAT MATTER, when the Lenovo folks can't program this stuff properly?</rant off>
The W540 comes with a lot of Lenovo software. Much of it is really good and useful. But what happened when you try to log in to Windows? For some reason Lenovo want to inform you that the Num Lock is on when you see the standard login screen. The message something like "Num Lock is on - your password may be entered incorrectly". All in some black background, covering OVER the login field in Windows !!!! Hey, the laptop has a numeric keyboard, I don't need this message. Luckily others again have experience the same thing. At this page http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/New-T540p-numlock-warning-at-login/td-p/142... I get the tip that I need to rename the tpnumlk.exe to something else. Gone was the stupid message.
My advice to Lenovo - don't include stuff that harvest a lot of complaints and that obviously is going to annoy your customers. Even if the machine was one with a small keyboard and no separate numeric keyboard, I would NEVER EVER want to have some ugly black box covering over the standard login field…  I can’t even imagine that the developer of this tool, use it (nor like it)! That is exactly why bloatware gets its reputation.
I would of course understand all this if I were talking about cheap machines and some wacko docking station. But I am not.... This is state-of-the-art, 2014, expensive-style laptop from the same manufacturer.
PS! At the end of this session, Lenovo tells me that there is a problem with the powersystem, and that it want to reduce power to sustainable levels....

can you connect the device in _*recovery mode*_ ?

  • Why does my macbook pro 13'' mid 2010 screen turns gray and freezes while connected to external monitor?

Every once in a while my macbook pro just randomly instantaneously freezes and the screen turns gray and it has only done it while connected to a high res 22'' Dell external monitor (so far). Usually when this happens I'm listening to music and I noticed my music continues to play but the keyboard is totally unresponsive forcing me to manually press the start button until the computer force shut's down. Luckily I havnt lost anything yet but I hate having to restart my macbook pro that way...just want to know if its a glitch in the software or if I have a more serious hardware problem. This problem has occured maybe 4 times since I got my macbook last summer 2010 so its not too bad, im just worried cause these computers aint cheap.

    Duquan,
Macs can be picky about the RAM which they use; the “Your computer restarted because of a problem” message typically indicates a RAM problem. Since you have a Mid 2009 model, it should have 1066 MHz RAM installed rather than 1333 MHz RAM. If your RAM was mislabeled, then that might cast some doubt upon the quality control which that RAM manufacturer uses. My suggestion would be to purchase 1066 MHz RAM from a reputable manufacturer.

  • Screen turns green with external monitor

    Hi,
When im watching a movie from my Macbook Pro on an external Philips TV (HDMI), then my screen turns green after a couple of minutes (variable from 5-15 minutes). After opening and closing my laptop it turns normal again, but after that it happens all over again.
    Who can help me?
    Thank you!

  • Why does my screen turn blue and freeze every time i try to plug in my 'mini display to hdmi' cable into my thunderbolt port in order to use an external monitor?

why does my screen turn blue and freeze every time i try to plug in my 'mini display to hdmi' cable into my thunderbolt port in order to use an external monitor? it only works if i turn the computer on with it already plugged in.

Do you have gfxCardStatus installed?  Is your monitor set to "Integrated" or "Discrete".  You want it set to Discrete to drive the external HDMI display.
Try resetting the PRAM and SMC

<Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)>
Are you sure you have a good miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable?
Do you have another HDMI display you can test against (your neighbor's HDMI capable TV).
Do you have friend that can test the cable using their Mac and maybe their TV or a monitor that has HDMI input.

  • Why is it that when I plug my Macbook Pro to an external monitor, the external monitor turns black and shows the mouse only

Why is it that when I plug my Macbook Pro to an external monitor, the external monitor turns black and shows the mouse only

Hi, yes preferences sees there is a second display it recognises what make of monitor it is etc but I just get a blank blue screen on the monitor when I change it to the hdmi setting! I have tried with mirroring on and off, rearranging the displays in the preference window and lots of different resolution settings but with no difference.
An old MacBook connects fine so the monitor and hdmi port must be okay. I'm sure we have used the cable before but it could have been with the previous MacBook Air. The current one I'm using is a mid 2011 version running lion and is (according to software update) all up to date.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!

  • Macbook Pro with external screen

    Hello guys!
    First my setup:
    Macbook Pro 2011 13" Low-spec.
    Acer 24" FullHD external screen.
    Apple keyboard.
    Wireless mouse.
Now what i want to do with this is, i want to have my macbooks lid open, but the screen shut off, so i can use the great resolution of my Acer screen.
    What i've been trying:
Have both open at same time in mirroring mode - MBP's resolution is "default" but my Acer screen turns to a REALLY REALLY bad resolution. Even though it's still set to it's default as 720p it's really bad. Now if i turn it to another resolution on my acer screen, it's just still bad.
Because of that, i've been trying to close the lid - This gives me a really great resolution on my Acer screen, and it's all sharp and nice. But as soon as i open the lid of my macbook pro, it goes back to the really bad resolution. Now you may wonder why i can't use it with the lid close - Because i want to use the inbuilt microphone for "Ventrillo" maybe the trackpad too, and being able to use the webcam too would be perfect.
So the question is: How do i turn the screen of my macbook of, so my Acer screen can have it's great resolution, and still be able to take advantage of the macbooks inbuilt luxury stuff.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Over and out.

You don't have to turn off the built-in display to use the Acer at its maximum resolution. Just turn off Mirroring in Displays Preferences, and you can set each display's resolution independently of the other. In Mirrored mode, both displays always operate at exactly the same resolution.

  • Macbook Pro: both external screens go off when unplugging power cord

    Hello!
I have my Macbook Pro set up with two external screens one connected thru HDMI and the other with Thunderbolt, I keep the lid always closed. I always have the power cord plugged in but when I for whatever reason unplug the cord both screens go dark and don't seem to "wake up" anymore. When I plug back in the cord I have to open the lid first to make the login window appear but after login my screens are switched. When I close the lid again it goes back to my original set up. The same when I turn on the Macbook and don't close the lid after it right away, the screens are switched until I close it.
    Any idea on this?

As this article points out, there are very stringent requirements for using a MacBook in "closed clamshell" mode. #1 is to have the power adapter plugged in:

  • How can i use an external screen on mountain lion when i'm running on battery power?

    Hey all:
I just upgraded from snow leopard to Mountain Lion, and i use external screen, keyboard and mouse all the time....
On Mountain Lion it's perfect when the power adaptor is connected as soon as you close the LID your external screen becomes the primary screeen and it's fully functional desktop (no mirroring or extension screen)
But the problem is when i'm in battery power, in snow leopard i used to close my lid my mac goes to sleep then i wake it up using the mouse and immediately open the LID so it doesn't go to sleep again and now i'm running on battery power with a primary external screen.
Any idea how to use an external screen on mountain lion while i'm on battery power? (i know i can use mirroring but i want just 1 primary screen and the laptop screen would be turned off )
    Thanks for the help.....

You can't with the lid closed, that's one of the rules for clamshell mode.

  • MacBook Pro retina and external screens

I connect my recently arrived 15" MacBook Pro retina to one of three 24inch Led displays which I use at different work locations... On two occasions on start up the external screen did not turn on. Power is on, USB not, led display is off, System preferences Displays module finds it... but there's not way to turn the screen on. Next day the very same screen turned on without anything particular being changed. Today I've not been able to turn on another of these screens, yesterday the third screen functioned beautifully more than 12 hrs.
Any suggestions about why this may be happening?
    Thank you

Eventually I got so annoyed I tried going back to a time machine backup when everything was still fine. (restoring Mac OSX to a time when the issue occured did not help). That worked, however it would be nice to know how to reset the display settings without losing progress.

  • EXTERNAL SCREEN ON 8220 PEARL NOT WORKING

Well, I lost my OS in the middle of December. Thanks to everybody's help I managed to get a generic OS reloaded and then I went back to the Blackberry Desktop Manager and reloaded my phone provider's (Orange) specific OS. I've also managed to reinstall my backup data and reloaded various apps. Hooray!
However the external screen is completely blank. The only time that it displays anything is when I turn off the phone and then it briefly displays the "T Mobile" logo. (it was originally a T Mobile phone)
How do I get  the external screen to turn back on please?
    Thanks,
    Simon

Try backing up your device via the BlackBerry Desktop Software and performing a clean reload of your device software. http://bbry.lv/bpv7DT
Make sure to test for the issue before restoring any data from your backup file. Then do a selective restore as shown here: http://bbry.lv/bhaArf making sure to restore essential data only such as contacts and calendar.

  • Screen turns black while I'm working

My screen turns black, almost like it's going to sleep right when I'm in the middle of typing, searching the web; basically doing anything active...
My screensaver and sleep settings are in the proper positions, so I don't think this should be happening...
    hmmm....
    any ideas?

Black screens are the curse of the iBooks. Search for "black screen" or screen flickering" to find many others with similar problems. There are a few possible causes, but the most common is probably the reed switch. This is the switch that puts your computer to sleep when you close the lid. Unfortunately, extremely delicate wires + a display hinge opening and closing all the time = crazy problems.
Signs you have a reed switch problem:
    - your screen may flicker in brightness randomly.
    - it goes black more often when the display angle or laptop is moved.
    - after it goes black you can still faintly see the screen, or when you connect an external display it works fine.
    - you can put the laptop to sleep and wake it to temporarily bring the display back to life.
To fix the reed switch problem:
    - take it back to Apple if you're under warranty. If you can't get the problem to happen at the Genius Bar, tell them about the problems you've been having and insist that they fix it anyway. This is way too common a problem for them to blow you off easily.
    - if you're not under warranty, you can pay Apple or some other Mac shop to fix it. I have no idea how much this costs, but probably at least a few hundred.
    - if you're not under warranty and you're brave/poor enough that you want to fix it yourself it is possible (I just did it myself last week). While there's nothing about the repair that takes special knowledge, it is a very detailed and arduous process. There are dozens of screws and parts that need to be removed in a very specific sequence. It took me about 5 hours start to finish (though I also replaced the hard drive) and I ended up with a few "extra" pieces that didn't make it back in despite being very careful. On the plus side, the reed switch itself is only about $25 and is available from places like Smalldog.
If you do decide to fix it yourself, do youself a favor and download the guides from ifixit.com. If you google around, you can probably also find the actual Apple repair manual (which is even better), but ifixit.com has great screw guides to keep track of everything.
One last thing - I originally had the reed switch problem under warranty and Apple fixed it with no problem. Unfortunately, the reed switch problem came back in a couple of months - after the warranty expired. Just a word to the wise if you have this problem and you're considering whether to buy the extended AppleCare policy.

  • Question about dock bar when using external screen

    Hey.
For a while now, I have been using an external monitor with my 24" iMac. It has been running fine and the dock bar has been on the iMac's display along with the menu bar.
Today, I switched it around and when I plugged the screen back in, the dock bar moved over to the external screen, leaving the menu bar in the iMac's display :S
I have tried looking at the Screen settings, but so far it has not helped. I have tried unplugging the screen and putting it back in as well as trying to put the menu bar to the external display and back to the iMac's to see if the Dock bar followed. Alas, nothing happened
Anybody have any idea what I need to do? Kind of a drag to have my dock bar on my lousy 17" screen... Thank you
