Nokia N8 Landscape Keyboard Double Spaces when typ...

Has anyone else had a problem when on Facebook or Twitter or any other text field when browsing the internet. When you turn the phone to landscape to get a full keyboard and you his space between words you get a double space... this happens ALL THE TIME... even in the social app.
But when emailing or Texting it works fine... I was told it was software problem with my unit.
I would like to get the update to PR1.1 but I can't find anything for my product code 059D391
Anyone else have this problem with the Rogers Nokia N8?

I just noticed this today. When typing email, notes or other entries it seems fine but when commenting on facebook it does the double space thing. The new firmware is not available for Rogers yet... still waiting.

When I type a message on the internet (when I write an email for example) my phone always double spaces even though I only tap the spacebar once. This happens on a Nokia N8.

You've gone to keyboard properties in the control panel, adjusted the repeat delay and it affects the cursor? That is strange indeed. I do seem to get a few more double letters on shallow keyboards found on slim devices than keyboards with longer travel, but I chock that off as a cost of slim. Still, it shouldn't be too bad.

You can open the Phone app then tap Recents then the blue 'i" in a blue circle at the right of the number then "Create New Contact" then tap a field such as "First" name and the keyboard should appear.

Can I double space my lines with a short cut? Like in windows when you hit control 2 and it automatically double spaces your lines, or do I have to manually do it at the top? Just curious.

Apple Wireless Keyboard lost connection when "command+space" is pressed

Hi, my apple wireless keyboard lost connection when command and space key was pressed. it does not lost connection when other keys combination was pressed. Are there any people has the same problem with me?
I am using Emacs all the time, the command and space key is the default short cut for Mark in Emacs. It is constantly used in my daily work. The wireless keyboard does not lost connection always, but it does lost connection sometimes. I have observed every time it lost connection, the command + space was pressed. Really strange. Any advice?

Got the keyboard working again, here how incase it can help anyone else:
I borrowed a USB keyboard to allow me to get past the pasword login.
First I rang disk utitlity to repair any permissions. I opended up the app 'Bluetooth Setup Assistant' selected 'Keyboard' then I turned the keyboard 'on' so the green light is flashing' and then hit continue. At this point the keyboard appears in the listing of found items, hitting continue I am then given a unique pairing code. Enter this on the keyboard and hit 'Return' after a few seconds, the pairing is complete and by wireless keyboard is back and working again!

Open System Preferences > Bluetooth
Select the keyboard then click - (minus) bottom left corner of the window.
Now, restart your Mac, then go back to the Bluetooth preferrence pane and click: Set Up New Device
If that doesn't help, go to /Library/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
See if that helped.

When I try to email a picture with a message, the space to type a message does not appear. Why?

If you get no response after starting 6 threads on an issue, it's worth looking at question you are asking over and over. Perhaps you need to re-think it. Perhaps you need to give more details - how you're emailing, with what apps, a fuller description of the issue and perhaps even a screenshot, anything that might help other people understand what you're asking.

I don't know where you read that but on the app description page - this is what it states.
What's New in Version 1.6
Pages 1.6 requires iOS 5.1 software update or later
• Easily enter text using the landscape keyboard on iPhone and iPod touch

That doesn't make it sound like you can use the phone keyboard to edit documents on the iPad. Maybe I missed it somewhere. It just makes it sound like the keyboard now rotates to landscape on the phone and the touch.

Double space period please in MAIL App!!!!!

Please please please tell someone to have a double space create a period at the end of sentences.
Switching back and forth between the keysets is maddening.
It's such a simple request... please.

Here's a great workaround tip from David Pogue's website...
Basically, you can type a period with ease if you simply press the ‘.?123’ key, then keep your finger on the screen and just slide it up and over a bit to the period when the numeric keypad appears. Amazingly, this key reacts as soon as your finger touches it (no lifting required), and the numeric keypad will automatically disappear when it does, leaving you right back where you started with the normal keyboard active—and with a period in your document! And instead of multiple taps, it took but one.
This trick works for any of the keys on the numeric keypad, but it’s most useful for the period and comma. While I’d still prefer to have the period and comma on the main keyboard, this is a really good workaround.

It's already kosher with the interface guidelines to
double space at the end of a sentence to get a
period, so how do I get people on the bandwagon
to make the spacebar a dual- or tri-function spacebar:

near the middle for period space, and at the right edge
for question mark space. Why have to go to a separate
screen to type a comman and then come back to the text

Comma, period, and question mark. That hits most of the major
marks used. Yeah, there's the exclamation point, but the
real estate on the spacebar reliably handles only three
marks. Four may be hard to employ, but I may be wrong.
I suggested this to Apple two years ago, and nothing's

Firstly, when I said InDesign inflates the space I didn't mean it whacked in a great chunk of space. It just gives a little bit more air relative to the fit of the text around it. You may not always see any noticeable difference. But when I read a book I don't want to see obvious white spaces at the start of every sentence. As long as the full point and following capital letter register on my brain fast enough that I am reading a new sentence, that's good enough for me. I think it makes reading more fluid. If you want to see extra space at the start of a sentence, then it's probably best to carry on with your double spacebar - unless you want to try something more exotic like a fixed width space.
I didn't mean you to literally type <full point><space><any character> into the find. I was just trying to tell you what to input. Type the full point, hit the spacebar, and then use the options list to the right of the find field (shown as a @), select "Wildcards", then select "any character". What you should see in your find field is . ^?
You could then enter . ^? - that's two spaces. See why I spelled it out as <space>? - into the change to field.

Nokia N8 landscape dial feature

I'm not sure if there is written everywhere else, but i have a comment to make on the new firmware for nokia n8, the 13.16.
it is known that it has the possiblility to dial a number and searh in agenda having the phone in landscape position - think of having it mounted in car holder on the windshied.
Now, after dialing in landscape mode, once the phone is connecting, it switches automatically to portrait mode, hence is difficult to see the number you're connected to, not to mention that photo is switched ot landscape.
Same thing, on receiving calls, if phone is in landscape mode, then switches in portrait.
if i want to see who is calling me, if the phone is mounted in car holder, in landscape mode, then i have to take it out, switch to portrait... that takes time and concentration is lost.
i saw this improvement mentioned on the new firmware, but i think that this is not finished all the way down. i really think that complete feature is easy to do, specially that work is started already...
yes, i'm aware that i can place the phone in portrait mode in car mount, but then what would be the usefullness of the landscape dial possibility ?

Please Help! I have been writing using - Pages - app for years. I still can not figure out how to make single spaces between paragraphs. Pages automatically double spaces between paragraphs.

Open the user guide then press Command + F on your keyboard.
Type line spacing in the search field top right corner of that window.

How do I stop double spacing when hitting enter. It just seems to have started doing so itself.

I am updating contact information within a page and when I hit enter I get double spacing. I have always gotten a single space as I need now when hitting enter I get a double space. I can find no way to correct this problem. Any ideas?

Can pages be set to full stop with a double space tap

Does anyone know if you can set pages (or use an app) to place a full spot after a double space bar tap?

In text replacement (System Preferences > Keyboard > Text), one cannot use a leading space in the Replace column, thus eliminating double-space as a character replacement combination. Depending on the internationality of your keyboard, there may be alternative tandem characters that when configured in the text replacement facility — will offer a full-stop as replacement.
I do not use third-party tools for text or keyboard mapping, so cannot comment on that viability for your goal.

N8 double spaces in social app and browser text wi...

I experience double spaces for every space typed when entering text in Nokia Social and browser text entry windows. It never happens when texting or using e-mail.
Anyone have a solution?

On my N8, I also get the same thing (double spaces using the Ovi Social app, and I think in the Nokia browser too).
It is really annoying. I have not (yet) contacted Nokia regarding this issue.
