  • My Stuff Not showing in Nokia N8 after Anna Update

    Hi Guys,
I m fed up with my Nokia N8 New Anna Symbian Software as after updating to it, i m unable to use Ovi Store. It gets stucks on My Stuff Page..... I gave my N8 to nokia care 3 times regarding this problem, each time they format it. Reinstall Anna and Ovi. But still the same problem. Infact I deleted my Ovi Account 3 times and made a new one 4th time.... I thought may be this problem is because of that, as i have download History in those account.
I Have tried all possible Tricks and Methods posted on This Nokia Support Forum.
I have tried the Following Tricks and methods:
    1. Reinstalling Anna and Ovi.
    2. Istalling Ovi Store manually by unsinstalling it.
    3. Updating Ovi Store form version 2.12.042 to 2.12.043
    4. Manually Installing all QT files.
    5. Deleted my 3 Ovi Account and created 4th Account.
But still the same problem. M trying these all since last 5 days continuously........

I've got the same issue after upgrading my E7 phone to Symbian Anna on 19 Aug.
    Found this link today :
    /t5/Software-Updates/Symbian-Anna-Troubleshooting/td-p/1127953
But it didn't help fixing the issue with Nokia OVI.
There is a purchased software that I need to reinstall on the phone but it is not possible now, My Stuff section in Ovi Store app is stuck at loading.... for ever.

  • Has nokia stopped anna updates on Nokia N8 due to ...

I have once updated two N8 to anna but am failing on this one.has nokia stopped anna updates because of the upcoming belle release?

It all depends on your product code. If you can post that I can tell you if a version of Anna exists for that particular handset or not.
    Cheers.

  • Nokia Anna Update

Can someone please explain to me what the attached image is telling me?
I installed Anna on my N8.  I got an error message when it was finished, but everything worked.  OVI Suite then told me the phone was up to date.  The phone tells me it is up to date.  But when I check on updates using the new Nokia Suite, I get the screen snapshot attached.
Is something confused, or is there really an update to Anna that nobody seems to know about, including my phone????
    Any advice would be appreciated.
I'll also post this in Nokia Beta Labs, as it's their new version of the software that is doing something strange (or doing something the older version didn't know how to do???).
    Thank you!

Assuming Nokia Suite was doing only this small 1 meg update, I let it start - but then it sure seemed like it was going to be doing a lot more than downloading only one meg.
I clicked cancel - I don't trust it right now.
The error message I finally got will be shown in the attachment...

  • Nokia C7 - Hotmail Not Working after Anna Update

Ever since I received the Anna Update last week, my Hotmail stopped syncing. I deleted the mailbox to try to re-add it, but since then I've only received the error "Service Temporarily unavailable. Try again later."
    Please Help.

I'm having a similar issue. It appears to only impact Hotmail accounts. For me though, this happened without updating the OS. The email client is simply failing to connect to the Hotmail interface. Only two possibilities, either Microsoft changed something on the email gateway or Nokia changed something on their end. Either way, it's not working and has been out of commission for the past week. If this is how corporate friends get along, I'd hate to see what happens in a adversarial relationship.

  • My Nokia E7-00 Belle update - the good, the bad, a...

Late last night I installed Belle on my E7-00 Anna.  It was a completely hands-off install using the USB cable connected to my PC.  It took about 15 minutes with multiple restarts of the phone all done by the software update.
I have a 12MB Internet connection (or so my service provider claims) and a UPS backup to reduce the chance of failure due to a poor Internet connection or untimely power outage.
The update was uneventful and the update software did perform a backup before the actual update began.  I did do a backup myself of the Anna install before doing the Belle update.
Although I am technically very experienced and competent with Windows based computer hardware and software,  I don't consider myself particularly knowledgeable in cell phone technology.  So I was glad to see the update go smoothly.
However, all was not peaches and cream after the update completed.  Once I started to use the phone I found that many, though not all, of additional application I had downloaded under Anna were no longer on the phone.  Also, many settings were gone as well such as my WLAN settings, and later I found all my Favorites gone.
I spent a couple of hours going through all the menus reorganizing the interface and the various options to get the phone in what I consider to be a usable state.  These things are made so that one can optimize to suit ones needs and I take advantage of that.
I'm disappointed that I had to spend so much time and effort doing this (actually redoing what had been done in Anna) and feel that the update should have, and could have, kept many of my settings.  I understand that the new widgets and home screens meant a re-jigging of those things but, for example, why did I have to re-enter all the WLAN settings required to connect to my home router, including a very long security string? More below.
I am glad that I did the update in spite of all the time and trouble to get everything working again and to suit my personal preferences.  I suspect a lot of users who have less experience than I in these things will be seeking help to get all their phone features working again.
Perhaps it would be useful to explain how I use my phone.  This is my 6th or 7th cell phone and I'm on my second cell service provider (about 8 years).  I have had cell phones continuously ever since they were small enough to carry on one's belt.
I am not a power user.  I use the camera occasionally for recording information.  I don't download music for listening but occasionally listen to music from the Internet via WLAN.  I have not sent more than about a dozen text message in my life, though I have unlimited texting in my cell service package.
I use my cell phone mostly for business calls.  I do not have any data service from my service provider.  I tried the data service for about 3 months but found that I used it very little.  I don't have a Twitter account (thinking about it) nor a Facebook account (and not thinking about it) so other than the rare instance to search the Internet for some information (when not near my own WLAN connection) I found little use for it.  Data service here in Canada is one of the most expensive of any country (or so I have seen reported on the Internet).  So I decided to save the money.
I do all of my email at my office or at home on desktop PCs with big screens and full size keyboards.  Occasionally I connect to my home WLAN with my phone to check email or to check for updates to the phone software.  But I don't like to do much typing on the phone keyboard, even though it is really a very good keyboard for a cell phone.
I do use the map/GPS feature regularly and think it is one of the best I've used.  I've gone through about five stand-alone GPS units which gives me some reference for comparison.
I'm not much of a game player, never have been, even on my computer.  I do have Angry Birds because it was free, and it is nice once in awhile to have something to occupy time when waiting at a doctors office or for a haircut, etc. and all the newspapers and magazines are old.
Here are things that I especially like about the new Nokia (Symbian) Belle software update:
I like the clock screen saver (I use the digital version rather than the analog display) because I can quickly look at my phone without having to unlock it and see the time/date (I've stopped wearing a watch).  It is also a great nightstand clock and alarm.  With the Light Bar app installed it is not too bright for sleeping but visible when needed.  I suspect though that it is sucking a lot of battery power and I may have to disable the clock screen saver if battery charging is too frequent.
The user interface is very good.  It is terribly easy to add or remove widgets and move them around on the home screen to suit ones needs.  The bar across the bottom makes accessing the applications menu, phone dialer, or options menu extremely quick and easy.
The pull down connectivity menu is superb.  With one touch I can turn on or off my Bluetooth, which I use with my car hands-free feature everyday.  Turning Bluetooth often when not need saves power.  With three taps of the screen I can connect to my home router, or disconnect with one tap.
A new capability that I now have and wished for previously on my E7 (but couldn't figure out how to do) is being able to put my phone in Off-line mode and still use the WLAN feature.  This is great in the evening at home when I don't want to be connected to my cell phone provider, but I do want to look up something quickly on the Internet without going to my desktop PC.
After the Belle update I found that I still had the following applications (originally installed in Anna) still available on the phone:
      Angry Birds
US and Canada Maps plus voice guidance
App Stop Camera Lover Pack (multiple apps)
      Opera Mini
      Sticky Notes
Here is a list of software and setting that were no longer on the phone after the Belle update:
    Applications
    Public Transportation
    Beeps and Vibrations voice guidance
    Converter
    GPS Info QT
    Compass Lite
    Nokia Internet Radio
    Display Brightness Control
    Nokia Battery Monitor 2
    Compass Touch
    Here and Now
    Settings
WLAN settings and password strings for three routers
    Start-up custom Welcome message
    Phone display settings
    Route settings for maps
    Voice guidance settings
    Home location for maps
Lost all Favorites including many map locations and Internet radio Favorites
    Lost all call logs
Lost all phone pairing - car and headset
    Lost call mailbox number
Since I have had the Belle update for less than 24 hours I am certain that there is more for me to discover.  But I thought it may be useful to provide this experience report as a heads-up for those about to do the same.  And now I will have to update my E6-00.

Thank you for the feedback hpholm.
I hope that you are very wrong about having to sync with OVI online services.  I have never done that.  Nowhere have I seen that as a requirement to store all the data on my phone.  And as I said, I do not pay for a data service with my cell provider and only connect my phone to the Internet through my home or work router, or through my PC via USB cable. So syncing to a remote site is not attractive to me.
My impression from Nokia on-line information is that the Nokia Suite application, which runs on my PC, backs up my phone - everything.  Where is the logic in backing up everything except my map Favorites.  Why would those be an exception?
Additionally, I am not interested in having to backup my confidential information to someone else's server where (in my opinion) I have less security than on my own PC (I do tech support and know how to lock down a computer).
Also, in most cases when one puts information on someone else's server, especially a free service from the like of Google, Facebook, Twitter, (might I suggest Nokia?) etc.  one loses control and rights to that information.  I'm unwilling to do that simply because someone else thinks it is good for me to do.  Ha!
Nothing is truly free.  You pay somehow.  These service aren't there because they are altruistic.  How many billions is the IPO for Facebook worth?  Gotta be a reason.  All that information that people put there about themselves and others is the reason.
I doubt Facebook would pay me anything to put personal info on their site.  I assume most people would think me a bit loony to expect it.
In any event, though there is a lot to like about the Belle update, there are a lot of unnecessary complications, with no warnings!
As I read the posts about peoples experiences with the Belle update I'm seeing a lot of disappointment.  From my experience in computing hardware, software and network support it is my opinion that the Belle update was rushed and was done in a less than professional manner.
From what I've been reading, people who have updated to Belle have generally expected it to be near perfect and hassle free, and many are really disappointed.  The end experience with the Anna update was much better in my opinion.  Not good for Nokia customer relations.
Nokia customer loyalty easily rivaled that of Apple.  But that has been seriously damaged with things like trashing Memo, going with the MS Windows phone OS, and a disappointing Belle update for all those expensive Nokia smart phones.  Kinda dumb.
I suspect that most if not all of the first line developers have been pulled off Symbian to do development work on the Windows phone OS.  The missing or incomplete bits and pieces in Belle, plus some gratuitous changes suggest less then experienced software developers working on Belle.
Enough grousing.  I just hope that things get fixed, but I'm feeling very pessimistic right now.  I wouldn't mind being proved wrong.

  • Symbian Anna update 1/2 failed to install

The story so far. I did the first round Anna update (around 27 mb i think) OTA cos my Ovi Suite never able to update firmware on my n8 since trying to update it to PR 1.2, and I did try reinstalling, redownload, reboot PC, reg clean, ccleaner to fix the Suite but it still do not update my firmware at all. But that's another story.
So I installed the 1st round, n8 rebooted to white screen, rebooted into homesceen with Midnight theme. SW update then shows 4 more items: Anna update 1/2, 2/2, Store and Social. The 1/2 was showing around 20++ mb. So I selected all 4 and update. Halfway through the installing process of 1/2 update (note the download part of 1/2 was very fast), I did plug in the power pin, cos the installation process was damn slow for 1/2. I did not notice wheher it finised installing cos later i checked it was already on 2/2 (downloaded and installing). It then went to the last two items and installed ok.
Rebooted device, but SW update still showed Anna update 1/2 available (the only one left) and the download size is now 7166 kb. I proceed to update it, it failes with error but no error codes or any message what was the error about. I tried again and again, with fresh reboots, still failes. What gives?
Even more, split screen not here. I did the uninstalling Swype, activating qwerty mode in portrait, still no split screen.  I do not have any Betalabs apps.
My Quickoffice & Reader is not here anymore (the app manager not showing them too). Heck I bought the full ver of Quickoffice 6 last time. Wat a waste of my money now that ver 7 is out!!
Anyone knows how to delete the "dowloaded cache" of SW updates? I want to force SW update to redownload this 1/2 item to try fix this issue.
Thanks for listening and please help. Cheers!!
    Solved!

I got the same problem since this morning on both my N8 & just found out solution on a previous update error similar to this & completed the update on one of the N8. Re-trying on another one.
Working Solution for failed update was found on Flashism's website quoted & "touched up" per below:
Big thanks to user “Unick” on Nokia Support Forums, who posted a working solution to the problem, and there are couple of successful installs reported from the solution.
I just deleted folder E:\Private\20019119\. After that I ran SW update on the phone & it restarted download of Symbian Anna Update 1/2 & 2/2 as well as Social, they  finished updates successfully.
To delete the mentioned folder, follow these simple steps:
    • Connect your Nokia N8/C7 in Mass Storage mode to PC via USB cable
    • Locate and delete folder named “20019119″ under \Private folder of Mass Storage
    • Unplug the device from PC, and retry again. It should work.
However, I still got no popup split keyboard after completing the updates & restarted the phone.

  • C7 sync doesn't work after Anna update

I normally sync the agenda between outlook 2003 and C7 with Ovi-suite.
After update to symbian Anna it doesn't work.
Strange is that Ovi suite gives the number of events that did not sync.
So he can recognize them, but can't sync.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks!
    Pietth

I have the same problem in C6-01 after Anna Update, there are another two posts around here with other people with the same issue, an, believe it or not, no answer from Nokia
My problem also affects Ovi Maps favourites. I just could update them once since Anna Update, and now that is failed too

  • Anna update + language packs or flashing?

Hello I've got kind of a big question here regarding the new Anna update, but there are some doubts I have that I could not find solutions to within this forum.
Basically I've bought a C7 from my Vodafone dealer here in Australia but to fulfill my needs I gave it to the dealer to have Chinese installed. But I'm not sure if they flashed the phone or they simple installed a language pack. I need some advice on this, and my phone versions as as below:
    Release: PR1.2
    Software: 0.14.002
    Custom version: 0.14.062.C01.01
    Language: 0.14.002.28.01
    Type: RM-675
So any professionals here may assist me in identifying whether this C7 was flashed into some other firmware that has Chinese on it or is it simply a language pack install? This phone was bought in Australia with only English support but now it has both English and SImplified Chinese.
Second part of my question. I know that when updating Anna the language will revert back to the original language of the phone. Now, if my phone was just installed with language pack, it will revert back to English only. Whereas if it was flashed into, say, China Mainland firmware byt the dealer, it will still support Chinese, because the phone is practically the same as a Chinese bought OEM phone. Since all Nokia phones are practically the same with only exception of different firmware for different locales. Is my theory correct?
Assume the phone was flashed into Chinese firmware, by updating Anna, will both Chinese and English be available to me?
I know this is rather lengthy for a question but, any helpful input will be greatly appreciated, as I really want to use Anna and also keep my language support. Thanks.
    Nokia C7-00 Symbian Belle RM-675

they might have installed a language pack.
flashing the firmware on Chinese only, you should only see Chinese and similar languages.
yes the phones are the same, with some exceptions where some countries don't allow GPS for example.
giving the phone to a service center to flash it with another firmware will void your warranty. and i don't see any reason to void it.
flashing with Chinese, only Chinese and similar languages will be available to you, you might have English, but i doubt it.

  • Anna update for South Africa N8

still waiting for Anna update for South Africa please. I have a phone swap product code 059B6T3.

    http://n8fan.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/still-no-anna-update-for-product-code-059d2n9-nokia-n8-vodacom...
Seriously Vodacom and Nokia, why the two week delay for product code 059d2n9?

  • Life after the C7 Anna update

Ok so where do I start……oh yes the Anna update
So I updated my C7 to Anna (including the 1/2 and 2/2 subsequent updates) and this made my phone much sleeker and that is always a good thing in my book, NFC and some fancy new extras are also much appreciated….thumbs up for Nokia….
However, since the update many things no longer work and some things have disappeared completely:
    1)      The phone now restart every few hours, usually when I’m not doing anything with it (phew), so while its not a direct inconvenience, no doubt it is draining my battery (not to mention all my home widgets need to be restarted/loaded each time)
    2)      Many of my pictures/images no longer appear in my ‘photos’ regardless of what folder they are stored (some appear and some do not and they reside in the same folder!!)
    3)      The music player editing is still not available grrrrrr (maybe I hoped to much for that one)
    4)      When I try to purchase something on OVI it gets to the confirmation of payment and then gives me an error message saying something like ‘the purchasing system is currently not working’ ?????? wow your losing money on that one ?????
    5)      Certain screensavers have vanished like the music player (song playing) and the slide show, why why why, they were great?
Ok a little wrapping up is needed; I have always chosen Nokia in the past mainly because I believe Nokia phones are practical and as such can do all the things that I need from a smart phone.  While one alternative is an iPhone, I believe it to be extortionately priced with some seriously basic flaws (flash player missing, Bluetooth limitations, tied to iTunes, cannot remove MC or battery etc).  However, given the amount of problems I’ve been having recently I am somewhat tempted to start looking at android phones for my next purchase.
I say this not as a threat or out of anger but out of a ‘what happened Nokia’ kind of disappointment.  Anna/Bella may not be enough if you can’t get your software in order, especially the variety of apps/games available on your market place, which is a pity really because your new phones are more than capable of such software! (for example, why are there no music sequencers/creators available?)
Can anyone help with any of these problems? Or is anyone having other problems that I have not included here? Will Nokia even read and act upon this post? Tune in next week to find out……..
P.S. spoke to support and their answer was to reinstall Anna and this didn’t work, alternatively wait for a new firmware update, and when that will be I don’t know.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi all, this is just an update on some of the things I have resolved from my original post 1) Unfortunately the restarts are still happening, usually when the phone is idle for a period of time (around 2-3 hours) yet it doesn't crash or reset when in use. From what I can gather some people believe it to be hardware (sent it back) and some think it is software (wait for update). but this restarting never happened like this before the Anna Update. phonehacker has recently posted this which i'll try tonight Thanks /t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/My-C7-restarts-very-often-What-should-I-do/td-p/1014817 2) I have resolved the missing images from 'photos' issue - After Anna update I moved all my pictures from the Pictures (on memory card) folder to the Images folder (the one where camera pics are stored, still on the memory card) and now they all appear in the photos app. 3) No news on the music update (allowing editing) but I hear this is an issue with all S^3 devices, so patients is needed for this one. 4) I can still purchase on the OVI store as long as I am connected via WiFi, but not through 3G, any ideas? 5) I hear it is a given that the extra screensavers have been removed Hope some of this helps, or that someone can resolve my restarting issues. Thanks all ***edited this three times and for some reason spaces are not appearing, sorry for the way it reads

  • Cannot re install adobe reader after Anna update !

Hi there, i know there has been some chat about losing Quick office and Adobe reader after Anna update on N8s on this site, I also lost office and Adobe after the update ! I needed to get office asap so i went to the quick office website and paid for it, that works fine but it seems adobe will not install even directly from quick office ! The support from QO has been great but i still cant re install adobe !! They have finally suggested that i re install Anna and than try again ! Does anyone have any other ideas !
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    @beefy122
I have the same problem but I am not prepared to pay for Quick Office or pdf reader because the full versions came as standard with my N8.
It appears that the Anna upgrade comes in 3 parts:
The main Anna file, Additional file 1/2 and finally additional file 2/2.
I installed the Anna upgrade then 24 hours later I was offered (both via Ovi Suite on my PC) the 2/2 additional file.
However, Quick Office and pdf reader are apparently included in 1/2, which has not yet been offered to me, presumably because my phone has not recognised that it has not been installed.
I am on Orange Uk and I wonder if Orange have not yet fully tested the updates and therefore that is why the full suite is not available to me.  I may be wrong of course.
At one point on one of the other threads, someone had posted a link to the updates required for both 1/2 and 2/2 but these links disappeared from the posting quite quickly.
    Which updates have you loaded?
I have re-installed Anna 3 times and it has never offered me the 1/2 update that I require.
I would also appreciate other ideas but they have not been forthcoming yet despite many postings in quite a few threads (other than suggestions to reset the phone etc, that I am not prepared to do)

  • N8 Communicator and Anna Update

Having done the full Anna update - 1.1, 2.1, 2.2 - I decided that I didn't need Communicator and as it seemed to be very big, I de-installed it.  Next time I connected to Nokia Ovi Suite I was informed that I needed an update 2.2.  Now I believe that this is the update that installs Communicator, plus a pile of other things.  Presumably de-installing Communicator has somehow signaled that I don't have 2.2 - but I do - just without Communicator which I don't want. If I accept the update, the Communicator is re-installed. If I don't accept and update, it stays there and tells me every time I connect via Nokia Ovi Suite.
Is Communicator mandatory (thanks Nokia/Microsoft ....?).
Can I get rid of the update message, without re-installing 2.2 and ending up with Communicator anyway?
Do I see the end of us deciding what runs on our phones and what doesn't?
Oh, and this time, laughably, the forum spell-checker didn't recognise OVI!!!!!! - LOL
My current phone - Samsung Galaxy Note

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think you understood my post. I clearly said " I decided that I didn't need Communicator and as it seemed to be very big, I de-installed it. "
The question was not "how do I uninstall communicator" but why, having uninstalled it, Nokia continues to try and force me to re-implement update Anna 2.2, which just re-installs it.  In other words, it seems that just uninstalling Communicator on my phone (and that is all I did) causes Nokia to say I need to install update Anna 2.2 again, which I have already installed.  If, as I tried, I accept the installation of Anna 2.2 as suggested by Ovi Suite, all it does is re-install Communicator ....! Therefore I am left with a phone that Nokia Ovi Suite says needs an update, with no way for me to say "No, I don't want it thankyou."  Presumably it will keep telling me this forever, as I have no intention of installing it again, and ending up with a program I don't want on my phone.  What I object to, is that I have no way of getting rid of it - it seems to be mandatory - "unistall Communicator and we will keep pestering you until you re-install it, matey".
