Nokia N93

I successfully connected my new mobile to the Nokia Pc Suite program yesterday but I have been trying all day to connect again, every time I follow the instructions I get a new hd icon in My Computer and the message from the suite is 'N93 connected in non compatible mode please change it in GI' and Nokia Suite tells me that my mobile is in 'file transfer mode' and I would like to know where on my mobile to switch 'file transfer mode' off?
Any help would be appreciated, I've tried downloading the latest software, I've used the Nokia Pc Suite Cleaner and still get the same message. I've been hunting for info for hours, I am using the usb cable.

menu > Connect. > Data cbl.
Use "Ask on connection", or if you only want to use with PC Suite, then choose "PC Suite".

Nokia N93 and copying music from a Mac with Nokia ...

I recently just got a Nokia N93. I am able to use iSync with it thanks to a plug-in.
I have had some success using syncTunes v1.6 to copy music files over to the memory card when the phone is connected with the USB cable. But the playlists do not work.
I did download and install the Nokia Music Manager for the N70 (I believe).
Will the Music Manager work with an N93? I am actually seeing the music on the phone but the app says iTunes is not available.
I am using Mac Os 10.4.8, iTunes 7.01. I have installed v1.02 of the Nokia Music Manager.
Will there be a release for the N93 or should the current version work?

I have been happily using Sync Tunes the last few months.
Recently, I started playing around with making smart playlists in iTunes. What I wanted to do was create a random play list of tracks to copy on a daily basis to my phone.
I ran into all kind of fun with audio file formats. It turns out the many of my audio files are encoded as M4A and MP4. These will not play on the Nokia N93.
Fortunately, I found a web-site (http://smartplaylists.com/) explaining how to filter out these kind of audio tracks in the smart play list. The built in help in iTunes is very poor in this regard.

Now I can create a playlist that is 950 M of audio tracks and I then use sync tunes to copy it across.

MP4 (from Nokia N93) Sound Problem, on Preview Only! Help!

Hi there, has anyone had experience with this problem?
I have about 1 hours worth of video to edit in iMovie HD 6 using a MacBook Pro, the video is from the Nokia N93, it is 640x480 at 30fps, MP4 format with an AAC 48khz stereo audio track.
After importing my clips into iMovie, playback (i.e. preview) produces broken audio. I know that there is nothing wrong with the actual audio as exporting the movie produces correct audio.
Any ideas?

Welcome to discussions!
This might work-or at least it won't hurt anything..
Open the Audio MIDI Setup application (Utilities folder).
Try changing the settings to 44100Hz (CD Quality) or to 48000Hz (typical of the iMovie formats).
Switch it back and forth even if it is already set properly. Then try again.

I need help my nokia N93 is blocked :(

Hi everyone i really need help as i bought the nokia N93 of someone on the internet. And it has been nearly 2 months now and the phone is blocked as i been told from nokia. I contacted the person who i bought it of and he is saying i did not blocked the phone and there is nothing i can do about it stop ringing me. I need some help please can anyone tell me what do i do about this person?

A blocked fone {IMEI locked} is a result of the owner reporting the handset lost or stolen to the network.
Or its part of a fraud investigation.
ie: contract taken out , get free fone on bogus details thus the network block it.
If you purchased off an auction site then lodge a dispute straightaway.
Even tho you have paid good money from the handset unfortunatley the handset is the property of the network , thus they will not unblock it for you.
You could report this to the police if you believe the above is actually the case.
If the fone is asking for a security code when you place your sim card into it then try 12345 as this is the universal code if not changed by the original owner.
Remember if the fone is locked to the network then u may only be able to use a sim on that particular network.
If you want it open to other networks you will have to become a customer of that network {buy a prepay sim}, and ring them to get the unlock code, and you will have to pay an unlock admin fee.If you search this site you will find many postings on this subject.

Nokia N93 firmware update

Hello everyone. if someone know it will possible in future update firmware in Nokia N93 via internet like n70 and other phones?
I have these phone and it is full of bugs.
photo quality is werry bad and also phone hang up automaticaly. I think in next firmware version these bugs will fixed but it will possible update firmvare via internet or no?

Hi Daniel DON'T DO IT, reformated my phone did the update again and its Killed my phone AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!! Grey screen on outside, nothing on the inside the same as paulnthlondon, took it to Phoneland Nokia service centre tried to revive twice but still dead!!! They now say they would have to send of to a company taking 2 weeks ( I don't believe it) to fix it. paulnthlondon how did you get on did your phone work again and if so how?. Can anyone offer any help as to how to fix or get Nokia to replace as their support dept email service doesn't work is their anyone in Nokia that I can speak to so as to get sorted PLEASE. Thank

ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYING ON NOKIA N93

my nokia N93 has been switching on and off for a few days now. it glitches when i recicve a text message and now it has a message saying "open fold to enter city, date and time"
but when i lift the screen its white it wont let me do ne thing
could someone please help me??

i found solution:
turn phone off, remove memory card, press green(answering key) +number 3 +star key and turn on phone.
Choose city ,date and time, format then your memory card because it will say there is untrusted something in your memorycard. after doing this seems to be working normally.

Nokia N93 (firmware V20) issues

Hello,
I bought (on February 1st) a Nokia N93 that I quickly upgraded to firmware V20.
Even with that firmware, I still have some very annoying issues :
(1) I expected to personnalize my ring tones on the calling number basis, like on my previous Nokia telephone. Although I think that I found how to do this, it doesn't seem to work : the calling number is correctly received, but the telephone doesn't seem to make the link with the corresponding contact list entry.
(2) There seems to be two different web browsers on this telephone, one for the Internet, and another for the WAP.
The WAP browser seems to have a lot of trouble in correctly displaying pictures in WAP pages : about one picture out of two is shown as a (about) 2x2 pixels tiny "picture". In order to correct it, I have to move my N93 screen to the landscape position, and next to move it back to its previous place.
(3) When watching a video using the N93's Real Player, the video is not displayed full screen at the beginning. In order to do this, I have to STOP the video, then open the "Option" menu, and select the "Read in full screen" command. But when I watch it full screen, if I press any key, the display reverts to tiny size without stopping, and I have to restart the whole process for going back to full screen.
I didn't find any command for displaying full screen without stopping the video. Did I miss something ?
On such a tiny screen, I couldn't imagine anybody willing to watch a video otherwise than full screen ... Why isn't this the default, or at least being configurable for becoming it ?

Yes, about "contacts", I already did that.
I can select the appropriate ring tone for each contact, that way.
But the problems is that, when this contact later makes a phone call to me, and although I correctly receive his phone number from my operator, and although his name and his phone number have correctly (hopefully) been entered in my contact list, and although I selected a ring tone for him (either directly or via contact groups), the N93 doesn't seem to be able to find the corresponding number at the time of the call, and the display shows only the phone number with the default ring tone, like if I never created this contact in the list.

No gate way reply on Nokia N93 with WRTS54GS V.5

Hi guys, hope you can help me with this one.
This has kept me up till 6 am, and I have no idea what to do.
I have a wrt54gs v5 router and I have a Nokia N93. The N93 sees the wifi connection but when it tries to connect it says: No gateway reply.
What could I be doing wrong, here are the settings:
Wrt54gs v5 with firmware 1.50.9, SES enabled using WPA, channel 6, no mac address and in dhcp server set to auto.
UPNP is also enabled.
On the phone it is setup as followed:
Connection name: I Set a name
Data Bearer: Wireless LAN
WLAN netw. name: linksys_SES_14445 (as searched by the phone and automatically set)
Network Status: Hidden
WLAN network.mode: Infrastructure
WLAN security mode: WPA/WPA2
WLAN security sett..:
WPA mode: Pre-shared key
Pre-shared key: key provided by router settings (the wpa share key)
TKIP encryption: Allowed.
In the advanced setings there are IPV4 SETTINGS
with phone ip address dns adress, but these are set to auto.

You gateway is invalid on your nokia. your gateway should be 192.168.1.1

2GB MiniSD Showing 1GB in My Nokia N93? Help Pls.

Nokia N93 Firmware update UK version

I just got my N93 but its the UK version, not the USA version. And i saw on this page.. http://www.nokia.com/A4176089 , That you can update the N93. I clicked it and tried to update my phone and when i did that it said "There are no updates for your phone". Whats taht all about?? The nokia software updater says that my model is Nokia N93 (RM-55) , does that have to do with anything? Is there any way taht i can update my phone?

ISYNC Nokia N93

Hello,
I ran into a problem with isync and the calender sync to my nokia N93 phones. Until 10.4.8 I used the mactomster plugins which worked fine. Today with 10.4.9. installed, the mactomster plugins removed Isync does update my phone book, but when trying to sync the calender (an Entourage Calender from ICAL) it returns with the following error: an unexpected error, sync stoped !!!

I think I have helped people with the N73 & iSnyc here
1st off go here:

and download the 2 files you will need.
Next -
In the Finder, control-click on the iSync application and choose Show Package Contents. Then navigate into Contents -> Plugins -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> Plugins -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources. In that folder, replace MetaClasses.plist (make a backup first, duplicate it on your desktop or somewhere!) then drop the new .plist file you downloaded from me.
Drop the NOKN93.tiff file in to the same folder as where the .plist sits and then fire up isync.
I don't have a N93 so can't test it, I have just applied what I done to get my N73 working to try help you out. Let me know how you get on.

Nokia N93 software update

Hey,
I have Nokia N93 phone and I'm trying to update its software, I did it actually before but this time it was different, NSU downloaded latest firmware from internet the in install phase; the phone disconnected from PC for unknown reason; so my phone has no software now and the pc can't detect it anymore.
What should I do??

First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode.
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
Hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:

If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.

When Nokia will provide us a new version of firmware for N93 whit A2DP – Bluetooth Stereo ?

It looks like there's not going to be any further firmware update for our n93. I wrote to Nokia Care Spain and this is what they answered me:

There's no scheduled firmware update for this device. It was designed as a mobile phone that featured a videocamera, but it doesn't have any 3D acceleration chip, so it's not designed to be used as a gaming console.

I can't believe it!! Nokia has decided to completely abbandon the users of the device that once was his flagship phone, and one of the most expensive ever!! I hope he isn't well informed, because the n93 does have a 3d hardware graphics acceleration chip...or not?

Nokia N93 TV-Out problem

I'm connecting my N93 to a wall projector using a S-video adapter because it doesn't have RCA connection. I've tried in PAL, NTSC and 4:3 and 16:9 relations but in everyone the image appears in grayscale.
Any suggestion?

Unless I'm mistaken you CAN NOT just connect an RCA video cable (composite video) into S-Video cable. You need some kind of up-converter. The signal from the RCA video source is different that S-video.
You will need some kind of converter box to up-convert from composite video into S-video. S-video sepparates the color signals and the luminance signal so it can create better images.
The N93 only outputs composite video that has the color signals mixed onto the chroma subcarrier, you see black and white because of the backwards compatibility with old black and white TVs. Anyway withoug getting into more technical details, it not as straight forward as having a connector adapter to change from RCA to the 4 pin S-video cable.
So in a nutshell, you can't do what you are trying. You need a converter box.

Nokia N93 Crashing and Poor Photos

Hi, I just got a new N93 on contract with O2 and my phone constantly crashes, reboots and freezes, I take it this is not normal for a highly praised phone?
The other thing is my nephew has a N80 and we decided to check out the picture quality for photos. We took pictures with the same settings on both phones but on the N93 the quality is so poor...
ie. Say you took a photo of an object in reasonable lighting and flash is used, while the picture taken from a N80 with flash set to auto or on, is perfect. But on the N93 with flash set to on or auto its totally disappointing the contrast is out, lighting is off etc...
Does this indicate that the phone I have is faulty?
Or does it just need a Firmware update?
If its the later can I preform the firmware update myself as I been waiting in line for this phone for about a month and I only had it now for 1 day and I am disappointed... Thanks for reading

Thank you for all the postings and comments etc... I got my N93 online O2 UK don't have them yet for sale or contract... I got it from www.mobileshop.com I was going to get from from www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk (they are part of the Carphone Warehouse Group) but they called me back to say they won't be getting it.
The phone its nice, but the crashing, freezing and rebooting is awful. Also if you take pictures in poor lighting the quality is so bad it looks like it was taken from a digi cam with less than a 1meg pix lens.
I have also a Ericsson W900i it has a 2meg pix camera taking pics it poor lightings it brilliant same goes for the N80 which my nephew has, but on the N93 the flash does not seem to kick in or when it does the pictures taken it like blair witch project videos poor and grainy and all this hype about a "Carl Zeiss" lens its just does not live up to the hype at all. And yes I have tried taking pics with the flash turned on instead of auto no difference.
Looks like Nokia you have to do more testing and these N93 "Carl Zeiis" lens hype its sounds more like a Gimmick instead...
