Nokia X7 Unresponsive after Install/Uninstall

Hello,
I have a Nokia X7-00.1 RM-659 running Anna 22.8.
Whenever I insatlled or uninstall an app, the phone becomes unresponsive after the operation is finished for 20~40 seconds. After that, normal operation resumes.
As if the phone is scanning/thinking/processing in the background.
Is that a known problem? Is it going to be fixed in Belle? Is there anything I can do now to fix it?
THanks,

  • Slow after install/uninstall antivirus

My late 2013 iMac has been slow and unresponsive after install and uninstall Avira anti-virus (big mistake that was)! I tried re-installing Yosemite but that did not help.  EtreCheck shows this in kernel extensions:
    /System/Library/Extensions [not loaded] com.avira.kext.FileAccessControl (1.0.0d1 - SDK 10.9)
However, I can't see that file with Finder or Terminal.
Is there anything I can try without doing a total clean install of OS X and then adding back all my files and apps?
    Problem description:
Mac and Safari are slow - often get spinning beachball and failure to load a page.
    EtreCheck version: 2.1.4 (107)

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • My Apple Apps are unresponsive after installing Mavericks. iBooks, Maps, App Store, iCal, etc. will open, but freeze

After installing Mavericks, I found that my Apple Apps (iBooks, App Store, Maps, iCalendar, iBooks, etc) will open but freeze or are none responsive.  I have reinstalled Mavericks, did a recovery and reinstall, almost everything that I could find in other discussions.  They only thing that helped was the recovery, until I tried to reinstall Mavericks.  Someone please help.....

OS X Recovery does restore OS X meaning Mavericks.
Make sure there's enough storage space ...
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
You'll see Available and Capacity. Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.
The startup disk may need repairing ...
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in  OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Make sure to back up all important files first before using OS X Recovery.
OS X Recovery does require a broadband high speed internet connection.

  • IPad 1 unresponsive after installing iOS 5?

Not even a week ago, I downloaded the new iOS 5 for my ipad 1. At first it was fine, but after a bit of usage, it would suddenly turn itself off or restart for no reason. Eventually it kept happening more frequently and more quickly. Now it won't turn on at all, it doesn't register in my itunes when i try to sync it to my computer, it is unresponsive when i charge it and it doesn't respond when I attempt a hard restart. I'm pretty sure it's due to iOS 5 because it only started happening after I installed it, so what should I do to fix it? It's still under AppleCare warranty, should I go instore?

I had the same problem and was ready to throw It in the trash. Last night I erased my iPad and set it up as new iPad instead of restoring. I didn't turn on iCloud until after I deleted my iCloud backup and turned off contact syncing with it. Since then it hasn't crashed and it has had about 4 hours of use. 5.0.1 didn't have an effect on it. Just happy I got my iPad back!

  • Sleeping iMac after install/uninstall of applications

I'm going to me receiving my first iMac in the next few days.
Presently on my Windows computer. A lot of the time when I have installed or uninstalled programs, I am shown on the screen that I need to restart my computer.
I was wondering if this is the same on Mac?
Also. I've read many posts that say its advisable to put a Mac to sleep (most of the time) rather than shutting it down everytime I would have finished using it. In light of this, if I install or uninstall an application on my iMac, would it be still OK to put the iMac to sleep or would it be advisable to shut the iMac down instead after I'd finished using it?
    Thanks in advance.

    mende1 wrote:
Most of the apps don't need to restart your Mac to complete their installation, but there are others that have to restart the Mac, so it happens with Macs, but less frequently.
We recommend to put the Mac to sleep because the start will be faster and your Mac in sleep doesn't consume more energy
Thanks for the help mende1, its much appreciated.
You mention that "there are others that have to restart the Mac". I assume that with any such applications, that I would be notified that I would need to restart my iMac?
    Thanks again

  • [SOLVED] No sound after installing/uninstalling gnome

I thought I'd give Gnome a try again after a year or so away from it using bspwm, just to remind myself of it. Once it was installed though my sound no longer worked within bspwm. Uninstalling it with pacman -Runs left me with no sound still. I then reinstalled Gnome so that I could at least have some sound while I worked out the problem, but this time had no sound in Gnome either. I tried using pacman -Rnsdd the second time but again I'm left with no sound. Now if I open alsamixer, the default sound card appears to be HDMI, but changing it back to PCH does nothing. Anyone have any ideas?
Last edited by shpongledspores (2015-06-03 12:55:05)

Fixed it by changing the default control and pcm card to 1 instead of 0 in /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf

  • Lightroom 1.4 catalog corrupted after installing/uninstalling 2.0

    Hi all,
I have about 10,000 images in my catalog, including thousands of edits made in the last week. I installed version 2.0 yesterday, but because of numerous problems (very slow, slider problems, etc) I got rid of it and tried to revert to 1.4.1
Unfortunately, ever since doing so, somehow my database has become corrupted and I can't regularly export catalogs. Sometimes they work, most times they don't. Most of my edits are very substantial and I've spent days working on a few of them so I can't risk anything major. I never had the opportunity to backup the catalog either (backups were turned off by default on this install).
SO. Is there ANY possibility of un-corrupting this database or have I just lost months of work keywording ?

Which is fine, but it's the version 1 catalog that has corrupted. I deleted the version 2 catalog after removing the software from my PC. I'm able to navigate within my catalog and make changes, etc, but exporting anything is hit or miss, and more hit than miss. If I choose to export x number of images as a catalog it will start the process, but within about 3 or 4 seconds will error out saying "Lightroom wsa unable to export the catalog. Unrecoverable error when generating export catalog." Nothing further to aid in troubleshooting.
This never happened before I installed the new version of the software. V2 seems to have modified it in some way upon import, or else co-incidentally something else happened to it at the same time. Either way, I can't export several groups of altered Nikon NEF images. I tried exporting the catalog without including the actual image files but no-go there either. The originals are safe (thank goodness), but the edits can't be moved, and some of them took hours of tweaking to accomplish.

  • Netra T1 105, Unresponsive after installing LOM 2.0

I recently purchased a used Netra T1 105, which is running SunOS 5.9. After purchasing the server, I attempted to install the "Lights Out Management 2.0" software.
I then proceeded to attempt to upgrade the LOM firmware, by running "lom -G default". However, running the command produced the output "Image Checksum", then locked the system up. At which point, the system no longer responded via the network, or via console.
After waiting a while, hoping that it would prompt me to confirm the firmware update, I decided to power-cycle the server. (I was unable to escape to LOM at the console.) After the power-cycle, the console no longer responds, nor outputs anything. I am also unable to access the system via network, which I suspect may be caused by the system wanting to perform an fsck.
Any ideas on what could be wrong, and how to fix it? Thank You!

On second read Bill i see that as well.
This is going to be unrelated but your boot-device looks a bit strange as well. You are referencing different slices on the same disk, and then referencing the disk itself and then net.
    boot-device=disk:b disk:a disk net
You would be ok with referencing disk and then net if the server is not mirrored. If the system is mirrored then you would want to reference that disk as well.
    either :boot-device=disk net
    or: boot-device=disk disk<number> net
But the next time it does it, you could try trying sync and trying to create a crash file. Once you have the crash files you can get these analysed.
As well as this pass the server through diagnostics 3 or 4 times and check the console outputs fro details.

  • Newbie: Macbook unresponsive after installing software updates

    Hi y'all.
So, this macbook is my first Mac ever, so please bear with me if I'm asking an obvious question.
My problem is that I just got my macbook home, went through the registration, and began installing the software updates. After updating, the computer wanted to restart. After restarting, I cannot get the pointer or the keyboard to respond. I tried booting up and running the Install Disk #1 to try running disk utilities, however, I don't think my holding down the "D" or "C" keys is registering. Since there's no pinhole to forcibly eject the CD, that's now stuck in my CD/DVD drive.
Any ideas? Or is there somewhere else on this board I should look for the answer? Unfortunately, since I'm so new to Macs, I'm not sure what to do at this point.
Thanks so much for your help.
    Emily

    hello, dark horse.
thank you for the suggestion. the problem is/was that the keyboard was completely frozen. i couldn't boot into safe mode, i couldn't type in a password, or type anything else for that matter and have it recognized. i attached an external USB mouse and restarted and THAT worked, but i didn't have a USB keyboard.
so i took the machine back to apple. they said my macbook definitely shouldn't have been acting up like that, especially on it's very first day, so they replaced it with the new one i'm using right now.
not sure what the problem was with it. i'll give apple a second chance and see how this macbook behaves. it seems like this one is running cooler, too...

  • After installing/uninstalling Adobe, Preview not opening PDFs

I installed Adobe Reader 8 just to be able to read one lousy document on the Internet. (It would not open past a screen that said I needed 8.0).
I noticed that it noticeably slowed the opening of ALL pdf documents from the Internet -- Preview was much faster. I deleted Adobe Reader from the Apps folder, but all pdfs are STILL NOT opening with Preview anymore and they're still all slow to open. I tried putting Preview on the doc--didn't work.
What can I do to get rid of Adobe and restore Preview as the default?
    Thanks!

Interesting! A combination of the two suggestions worked!
I did a right-click with my mouse, went into "Open with" and "Other" then choose Preview and checked "Always Open With." This worked with the pdf files only on my computer, but not for pdfs off the Internet.
Then, per the first suggestion, I deleted just that one plug-in and Internet pdfs now open with Preview as well! Just what I wanted!
Now I feel confident about deleting Adobe. Thanks you two!!!

  • PSE 11 is unresponsive after Mavericks

PSE 11 has become very slow, sometimes unresponsive, after installing the new OS X Mavericks. Any ideas?

It is extremely important to delete preferences on updating to Mavericks:
    http://barbarabrundage.com/2013/10/28/photoshop-elements-and-os-x-mave ricks/
    You will want to find:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements (version number) Paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements (version number) Settings
The link tells you how to find the user library in 10.9. While you're in there go to the Saved Application States folder and delete any for PSE.
Also, if you have a wacom, it's crucial to update to the driver released the other day.

  • I just installed latest updates and now itunes becomes unresponsive after 10-15 minutes

The latest OSX update (Security Update 2013-003) perhaps is breaking itunes.  It becomes unresponsive after 10-15 minutes and I have to force quit it each time.

with that one, let's try the following procedure.
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:
Removing iTunes and QuickTime for Windows
now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?

  • After installing LV 7, MAX 3, NIDAQ 7, can not target to LV 6.1 RT even after uninstalling and loading older version.

We have started using LV 7 for all of our new projects but still have to support a number of older projects made in LV 6.1. After installing LV 7, MAX 3 and NIDAQ 7, we can not do remote DAQ configuration on the older version of RT and can not target to the RT system either. We used NIs uninstall for MAX and NIDAQ and then reinstalled the older versions, but we still can not remote DAQ configuration. Computers that have the older versions of MAX and NIDAQ and have never had the newer versions installed have no problem with remote DAQ configuration or targeting.
How can we go back to the previous version of MAX and NIDAQ and get it to work? What is left
    after uninstalling the newer versions?

    Rob,
I would recommend creating a Service Request on-line and contacting an Application Engineer. There are several possible reasons that software might not be completely removed, and we have some utilities that will make sure this does not happen. There also might be some issues with downloading the code to the "target". We could quickly reformat the controller and make sure to get the older software on the system.

  • Is it safe to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?

Is it safe to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?  I just upgraded from 10 to 12 and wanted to know if it is safe or if there would be any issues with uninstalling and removing Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.

Yes you can, if you are happy with the way PSE12 is running.
However both apps will happily co-exist, and there is no duplication as both use the same images on your hard drive.
PSE10 also has some features now removed from PSE12 as Adobe transitions towards 64 bit applications. See my PSE12 first look link:
