Not able to access Oracle 10g XE database home page on Windows XP?

I wanted to practise pl/sql in my office pc. I installed Oracle 10g XE on my machine and after that I also started Agent from Services. However When i clicked on Database home page it doesn't start. Changing network configuration might create problem in network. Can anybody help me working out this problem or has any alternative to practise PL/SQL with tiny oracle database.

  • Limited account users not able to access oracle 9.2 database

I have installed oracle 9.2 database on windows server 2003 enterprise, I am having 35 users that login through terminal server to use a application developed in VB6 and uses oracle database, Now if I put all users in administrator group of 2003 everything is working OK , but if I remove them from administrator group they receive the following error after starting the application
"Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation. Provider is unable to function until these components are installed."
I dont want these users in administrator group as this can be a risk for my setup, but unfortunately I until have no solution for this rahter then keeping them in Administator group.
Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

On the client terminals, you need to install Oralce client software to make sure that the clients and server can communicate. Have you installed it? How the clients are connecting to the database, by some tnsnames or in your application, are you using some DSN or something which is using some tnsnames entry?

Make sure the panama.zip, panama_core.zip , panama_pasm.zip are in the wrapper.classpath in the jserv.properties file. Also cross with the installation guide and verify all the mentioned paths are in wrapper.classpath

It looks like you will have to uninstall "libaio1", but I don't know for sure and don't have Ubuntu 10.4 available right now to play with.
Sorry but the instructions are for Ubuntu 10.10, not 10.4, which is different.
If you need to install XE on Ubuntu, I'd rather suggest 11gR2 XE:

I installed oracle in my windows xp pc but when i try to start the database home it opens an internet explorer windows with the address http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex and they cant find the page please, can somebody help me with tis problem.

Okay, so what fixed this for me...
Wasn't able to get to the fourms but was able to peice together what to do from doing google searches and reading the breif summery. Lucky for me I was able to try a few things and hit the sweet spot.
    Symptoms for me...
Not able to use administration web page. http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
Noticed that the listener service was not listening on port 8080
The services start but you are not able to get to the web page for administraton.
    Solution for me...
    Uninstall Oracle 10g Express Editon
Re-install Oracle 10g Express Editon using the local administrator.
    That's it!
I was installing the application using a domain account. Even though the domain account was in a domain group that was part of the local administrators group for the workstation the install wouldn't work completely.

    Hi Srini,
Thank you very much for the direct link to that article. I've been trying to find it since Googling similar questions, all of which suggest going to My Oracle Support to get that article. Unfortunately when I went there I got prompted for contract ids or whatever, so the portal seems completely useless to the general public.
In my case, some machines would install on Windows 7 and some wouldn't because the CertifiedVersions prerequisite check would come back with either 5.1 (incorrect version, but allows installation) or 6.1 (correct version, but aborts installation). How a 5.1 could get returned for the Windows 7 version number is beyond me, but that was the issue.
The fix is that the -ignoreSysPreregs flag doesn't help in the product-specific prerequisites section. You need to specify the -ignorePrereq flag as the article shows instead - however if you run setup -help that flag isn't listed as an option! I do thank you very much for ending my frustration.

  • Not able to access the 10g RAC DB

    Hi All,
I have installed 10G RAC on WIN2K box with 2 nodes. The installation was fine. I created a database with name "test". It created 2 instances "test1 on node1" and "test2 on node2". Now if i am trying to connect to "test", it fails. but if i use "test1" i am able to connect. How does the failover come into picture when i am using the instance "test1" which is running on node1 and it(node1) goes down. I am new to these, please help me.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Kavitha

All connections should be using the failover TNS entry which should look something like this in your tnsnames.ora file:
    TEST=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=test1-vip.us.oracle.com)(PORT=1521))
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=test2-vip.us.oracle.com)(PORT=1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA=
    (SERVICE_NAME=TEST)
When you do a tnsping of the service, you should see the failover configuration, similar to:
    tnsping TEST
Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
    Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=test1-vip.us.oracle.com)(PORT=1521)) (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=test2-vip.us.oracle.com)(PORT=1521)) (CONNECT_DATA= (SERVICE_NAME=TEST)))
There are many different configurations for RAC failover and TAF. This is a basic example.

  • Not Able to connect jdev 10g application database, after deployee to weblogic 10g

    Hi,
I have and application build in developer 10g.(10.1.3.5) using ADF business component 10.1.3.43.6. i want deploy this application in web logic serve 10.3.4
After install ADF runtime my application was successfull deployed in web logic , But is not abble to connect with oracle database.
I get this line of error in web logic console:  java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.jbo.domain.BlobDomain.
    Any advise about this.
    Thanks ervin.

oracle.jbo.domain.BlobDomain is not a WebLogic class, let alone
a WebLogic JDBC issue, so you need not do any DS reconfiguration...
You need to find out where the oracle.jbo classes are, and get them
    into the WebLogic class path...

  • Not able to install Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit on Windows 7 Enterprise 64

I am having issues. I get "Central Inventory is not locked" and Oracle 11g R2 just closes itself.
I had some previous installations of Oracle, but I am unsure how to get rid of them all. I already removed the registry keys associated with Oracle. Any help here?

One user above reported installing the 64 bit odbc drivers and then the 32 bit drivers. How did you do that? I'm a neophyte to this.
I'm trying to get a 32 bit ODBC oracle driver to work on a server 2008 R2 machine. I downloaded the 11gR2 x64 client from oracle. The install process makes no mention of 32bit vs 64bit installation. After running the instalation I can run the ODBC administrator and generate a DSN for oracle. When I run the 32 ODBC administrator there is no oracle driver available except the microsoft driver for oracle. When I select that it says that I need to install oracle.
I had at first tried to install 11g instant client. However that didn't work for the 2008 R2 machine. It complained about some registry error when I tried to run the ODBC install program. I need to get it to work for a customer asap.

I do not see the Go To Database Home Page selection.
1 Logging in as the Database Administrator
The first thing you need to do is to log in as the Oracle Database XE
    Administrator. Follow these steps:
    1. Open the Database Home Page login window:
    ■ On Windows, from the Start menu, select Programs (or All Programs),
then Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, and then Go To Database
    Home Page.
    ■ On Linux, click the Application menu (on Gnome) or the K menu (on
KDE), then point to Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, and then Go
    To Database Home Page.
    2. At the Database Home Page login window, enter the following information:
    ■ Username: Enter system for the user name.
    ■ Password: Enter the password that was specified when Oracle Database
    XE was installed.
    3. Click Login.
The Oracle Database XE home page appears.

That is really strange, actually the go to database homepage is going to the application express home page,
    http://peterzyw.spaces.live.com/photos/cns!DF2188D6F941C9F9!918/
If you really cannot see this option, you can try to type the URL of apex and access it
    http://localhost:port/apex
    http://localhost:8080/apex
The go to database homepage menu option should be below the "Run SQL Command Line" .
