Not all my songs are showing in itunes even though they are in the Itunes Media file directory

Not all my songs are showing in itunes even though they are in the itunes Media Dir. I have spent hours trying to find out why so I moved the songs out of the Music/itunes/itunes media and uninstalled itunes. I then restarted my pc and re-installed itunes. When I opened itunes the same songs are still there (but cannot be played as cannot find location) even though I have not put anything back in the itunes media dir. To me there seems to be a refreshing problem as itunes is not looking at the directory even through the advanced preferences area is mapped to the correct area.

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here: Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

Also, what are the source of your contacts? are they created on the phone, or you synced from yahoo/hotmail etc.
If thats the case, the circular arrow wont be visible but instead show "groups"

Can't get transferred songs to appear on player even though they are in the right folder on new computer

I have moved music from old computer to new one through externaI drive. They are in the proper folder for Itunes to find them (I did authorize the new computer) but they do not appear in the list when I call up nItunes. I did try to import them through the add fule to library, but it only seems to work one siong at a time. I want to add rhem all at one time.

Was the ENTIRE iTunes folder copied, just the iTunes Media, or just the media files themselves?
If properly moved, there should be no issue.
Assuming the ENTIRE iTunes folder was moved:
Close iTunes.
Hold SHIFT and launch iTunes. Continue holding SHIFT until the locate or create a new library option is presented.
Point iTunes to the correct location for the iTunesLibrary.itl file, this will be the folder that was copied from the old computer.
Everything in iTunes on the new coputer should be exactly as it was on the old computer.

Purchased apps won't appear in iTunes, even though they are in my account

Hi.
I switched to Windows 7 (clean install), installed iTunes and my purchased iTunes apps won't show up, neither in the library nor in the left hand column where you can sync with the ipod (touch). And yet the programs do appear on the list of purchased programs when I look into that on my account.
One thing is peculiar: iTunes states that this is my 3rd of 5 allowed PC's (and it used to say my 2nd of 5 while running the same PC with Vista).
Is there any way to re-get these programs (and updates!) back active?

Did you back up those apps before you did the clean install of Windows 7 and then copy them back into iTunes? If not, then they won't be there on the system so they won't show up. You need to either restore those apps from your backup or go through the purchase process again for each app; if you purchased them once, you won't be charged a second time even though it will look like it will until you actually download.

This is often the case when you reinstall the OS without deauthorizing the computer from the iTunes Store first. Take a look at this Apple support article; it may help:

Emails are disappearing...even though they are sent they're not in Sent/Trash

I upgraded to Lion on my MacBook Pro a few months ago.
I have now lost 3 emails (that I'm aware of) - in as much as they were sent - the recipients confirm receipt - yet they are not in my Sent or Trash files. I checked the whole system and they are nowhere to be found.
Printing every email before you send it is not a practical solution.
Anyone know how to fix it?

Same issue since did the last update with my mac mail. Will see an email for a second and then it disappears. Same for iPad, iPhone, on iCloud, macbook. Did rebuild on the macbook of the email account and still saw the same issue this am. Did 2 test send from gmail and neither have come thru. They are not in trash or archive and no rules set and did search. This is really bad for me because currently looking for a job and critical to see emails! If you've downloaded them on the iPad then they should be in the Videos app - iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store (the Purchased tab shows what content that you can re-download from the store and rentals can't be re-downloaded, and non-rental films can only be re-downloaded in some countries).

How do I access the cloud and moreover, why are my pictures not on my Itunes, even though they're backed up on the cloud?

In trying to sync my Iphone 4, I noticed that none of my pictures are not my Itunes, even though they've been backed up on the Cloud. My Itunes also states that I'm over my space by .4 GB although my phone says i still have 2.7 GB of space left. I'd like to delete my pics off my phone, but not until I know they're backed up properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

photos taken on your iphone and show up in photostream on your ios device can be automatically downloaded to your computer.
if you have a mac, the photos in photostream automatically download into your iphoto application

you no longer are required to ever hook up your ios device to your computer to extract photos again (you will have to if you want to get videos off of your iphone). Simply connect your computer to the internet at least once a month, and all photostream photos will download into the proper place (outlined in the above links).

I was not complete clear.
Since you never changed the settings in the advanced section of iTunes preferecnes, you have to chech that your music is really in the location setted in the folders reported in the advanced section. If not you have 2 ways: reset the position of this folders or in the actual disk organisation or in the pointing on the preferences.
If you press the reset button you just give to itunes its default setting as for the position of the music files: probably this will be a good choice if you have never changed any default preference.
But before I would check the folders and see if the songs are really there

I assume there is more than ample space remaining on your iPod to hold all the videos? Are you getting any error messages during the sync process?
Do all of these videos play okay in iTunes? Is the sync only checked songs and videos option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab?
What other setting do you have enabled from under the iPod's video configuration tab in iTunes?

Why is it that some songs get listed on their own even though they are part of an album? They are always songs that I had on my computer not imported from a cd using iTunes. I have verified that all the info is correct and matches the other songs in the album. Sometimes I can check the "compilation" box on all the songs in the album and that will put them in order and in the same listing. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.

What I did in this case is select all the songs in the album and select Get Info and see if Album Artist and Album and Sort Artist and Sort Album Artist and Sort Album are the same.

How are you trying to accomplish this? You can't transfer media directly from one iDevice to another. You should be transferring your purchased items to your iTunes library on the computer you sync them with, then syncing them from there.
You should be able to re-download media from the iTunes store using the same Apple ID used to purchase it to begin with.
