Not sure where iTunes is syncing my photos to on my PC laptop

On my boyfriend's Windows Vista laptop, in iTunes sync settings for his iPhone, it's set to sync pics with the "Pictures" folder, but when I choose Pictures from the windows startup menu, other than including his Photo Stream, the other pics in there are just old pics. When I start up his other photo app, "HP Photosmart Essentials", it seems to show all his current pics, even ones taken today that I didn't think we're even synced yet! Confused. I wanna make sure all his photos are backed up to his computer as he is soon going to upgrade to an iPhone 5.

That tab is for syncing pictures from the computer to the iPhone. Pictures in the Camera Roll, taken by the iPhone are to be imported to the computer like pictures from any digital camera. On a Windows computer, you would use the import wizard. Once you plug the phone into the computer, if you have photos in the camera roll, it should auto run either the Import wizard, or a dialog box for you to chose what to do. If it does not start the auto run or Import wizard, open Computer and right-click on the iPhone and you can select Import from the menu. See this support document if you have any other questions. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

  • External hard drive, sharing, itunes? Not sure where to post this?

sorry guys but i'm not sure where this belongs, but anyway. I just bought my macbook and purchased a Western Digital harddrive ( external ) anyway I have like 80gigs of pics and music and want to get it from my iPod back onto the computer. Not a problem............My problem is that I can't put it directly onto the external drive I first need to put it on the macbook then transfer it to the externak hardrive. When I do this is winds up on my mac HD and also on my external hardrive. I only want it in one place. Ok, my ultimate goal right now is to buy an iMac which I'm doing this weekend. Got rid of my PC's ( Go Apple !) LOL. I want to put all my music ,videos, pics, movies on the external hardrive and be able to share it with both my Macbook and my imac. I simply want to be able to access my everything from both pc's but get it all from the EHD. Right now it's all on my macbook and I want to free up the space, plus learn how to do it for the future. Sorry to ramble. So far I've posted a few times and someone always comes through. Everyone here is awesome, it's like another planet compared to the PC world.
    thanks

Put your iTunes folder on the eternal hard drive, and make a alias to it from your home directory on the MacBook (Cmd-L). Do the same when you get the iMac.
I didn't quite get how the two computers are sharing the hard drive, or maybe you'll put the hard drive on the iMac and share the library. There's a lot of ways to make this work. You made a good decision.

  • I have recently updated my macs software then been onto Photo Booth and realised that all of my pictures/videos have been deleted and are not in iPhoto? Im not sure where they have all gone?

    PLEASE HELP
I have recently updated my macs software then been onto Photo Booth and realised that all of my pictures/videos have been deleted and are not in iPhoto? Im not sure where they have all gone?

Photobooth and iPhoto are two quite different apps with no connection between them. I'd try the Using Mac OS X forum for whatever version of the OS you have.

Using 6-7 year old software that's no longer receiving updates & was never designed to run on 10.10 is asking for trouble.   That said, try re-installing PS and installing Java SE6
    Java for OS X 2014-001
It might work.  But again it might not.
    Good luck!

    Identify Your iPad
    http://www.ifixit.com/Info/ID-your-iPad
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom

  • I'm trying to install iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium.. I'm not sure if iTunes is compatible with it because when I try to install it, it says the installation is complete but it says there was an error so I can't get it! Please help!

    Hellooo Apple Community!
I'm trying to install iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm not sure if iTunes is compatible with my computer operating system because when I try to install it, it says the installation is completed but it says there was an error so it won't let me get itunes! Can someone please tell me if iTunes can be downloaded and installed on "Windows 7 Home Premium" and if so, how?! I need iTunes asap, I have an iphone 4 running ios 6.1.3. Please get back to mee!!
    Thankyou thankyou thankyou!
    Natalie.

I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode.  Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed.  I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides.

Hi Xellana, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I'm looking for information and pricing on possibly upgrading the processor from the PowerPC to Intel.
While anything is possible if you had enough money... NOPE, you can't change the CPUs to Intel, nor can you get any faster PPC upgrades for it. It'd be far cheaper to buy a new IntelMac than to replace everything inside the G5, and I mean just about everything, then figure out how to machine the case & such to mount Intel Logic Board, Graphic Card & such.
    Sorry.

    Hi saiyed adil,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It appears that your iPhone 5s sometimes produces low sound, but a restart corrects it.
It can take some time to isolate and resolve intermittent issues like this one, and I'd recommend going through the steps in this guide the next time it occurs:

I bought  my MacBook Pro in 2010. This is the first Mac I have owned and recently it is having some difficulty loading we pages, often timing out. This Mac environment is entirely different for me and I am not sure where to begin troubleshooting and/ or clean-up. I have moderate computer skills and try not to download or access questionable material, however recently I visited the Ap Store and purchased a couple of different aps to use in record keeping and for making a flyer. I am not even sure how to remove these programs to see if it helps.
Any tips or tricks are appreciated.
    Thank you!

Time to see about the PRAM battery.
By the way iOS and OS X are different systems.
iOS is the operating system for iPads, iPhones, and iPod touch.
Mac OS X is the operating system for Mac labelled computers.

  • Tar problem - Not sure where to ask

This is my post in this forum & I'm not sure where to post this.
I have just installed Arch in my office system 2 days ago. I was extracting tomcat 5.0.28 official tar.gz in my arch system and it gave this error:
tar: A lone zero block at 82109
The tar version in my system is
    tar (GNU tar) 1.15.1
I extracted the same archive in our server where the tar version is:
    tar (GNU tar) 1.13.25
    and it gave no error
The error/not error is same with either -x or -t flag.
Is it a bug in the new version of tar (I think so, arch should have nothing special about it).
What should I do can anybody suggest?

Yes the size does match, so I think the content may be OK.
Last time I found the directory size mismatch using du -s
but I guess its because the two directory was in two different fs
in server it was xfs, in my home it was ext3.
By the way is there any way to verfiy equivalency of two directories. I know
of md5sum but that works file by file.
    Thanks.

  • Lost ipod and not sure where, can an ipod be temporarily disabled ?

lost ipod but maybe at home somewhere, not sure where its been lost. can it be temporarily disabled ?, just in case it turns up

I do not know what yo mean by disabled and what model iPod y ohave:
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
