  • How can I do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder which does not have firewire out/input? it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite RCA output?

I need to do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder (http://store.sony.co...ber=HDRAX2000/H) ..this camcorder model does not have firewire out/input ..it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite A/V video output..
I wonder how can I plug this camcorder to the firewire port of my laptop? Browsing on internet I found that Grass Valley Company produces this converter http://www.amazon.co...=A17MC6HOH9AVE6 ..but I am not sure -not even after checking the amazon reviews- if this device will send the video signal through firewire to my laptop, in order to live streaming properly? ..anyone in this forum could help me please?
    Thanx

I can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera...  is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

  • Help with sound output via HDMI

My sound output via HDMI suddenly stopped worked to my TV set. I've reset the PRAM and the SMC. When I go to sound control panel for sound output, the setting is on Headphones. When I try to change it to SV420XVT1A (the tv) it immediately jumps back to headphone. I also tried a different HDMI cable to a different HDMI port on the tv. This just started after the Mac Mini had been turned off for a week. I'm using Lion and it's an 8GB Intel Core 2 Duo. Any suggestions?

I actually discovered this answer about 5 minutes after I posted the question. Thanks a lot for your help!! Funny thing is that it had worked all along with something plugged in the headphone jack but suddenly stopped working. Again, thanks!

  • Thunderbolt output to hdmi 1.4

    Hi,
I am using Thunderbolt Display and as you all know it's resolution is 2560x1440. When I want to connect it something else then iDevice, the way I choose is HDMI. But the problem is it needs to be a hdmi 1.4 cable so that it can support that max resolution, that pc supports it, it has a hdmi 1.4 output but I can't find any cable which turns thunderbolt output into hdmi 1.4 output.
If there is such a cable, can u give a link please ?
    or
If you know any other way to connect them, which supports 2560x1440 res. can u tell me please ?
    Thank you....

Sure, Premiere can deal with r3d footage just fine but it doesn't have any native 3d tools.
I've used Tim Dashwood's Stereo3D Toolbox in FCP 7 and dabbled with it in Premiere (the new version supports Premiere, not just After Effects) and it's very good.  If you want to do any post-convergence or floating window work (or even digital zooming) it's essential.
Still, I prefer the Stereoscopic Adjuster filter in Edius.  Have a look at their 3d QuickStart and you'll see what I mean:

  • Information on notebook ports (USB, HDMI, etc)?

I'm currently looking at a Pavilion 17z-e100 laptop to customize and order. However, I cannot find any information regarding the ports on the notebook. I need an HDMI output and 3 USB slots, and since I transfer large files to my USB drive regularly, at least one USB 3.0 is necessary (along with 2 USB 2.0 slots).
I was looking at the specs on a different website, and they stated that it includes 1 HDMI, 2 USB 3.0 slots, and 1 USB 2.0 slot, however, it was a slightly different model so I would like to get my information from the manufacturer.
So my question is, what ports are included? HDMI, USB, Audio, etc.
Also, the "Contact/Email HP" option on the site seems broken, because some of the required fields have no space to fill them out. I've tried on two different browsers.
    This question was solved.

  • Satellite R830 and video output through HDMI

Just wondered if it's normal for my laptop to output a max of 1280x768 through HDMI to my 26" LCD TV?
Its a Satellite R830 i3 with hd3000 graphics. I have 8GB RAM. Tried under Windows 7 and 8 but the same.
Also tried custom resolution but it just says on the TV out of range.
Mt graphics driver is up to date and I had full hd working on this TV via another older laptop.
    Any suggestions please?

I dont know your LCD TV specifications but fact is that external resolution depends on three options:
graphic card driver, graphic card and the external device connected to notebook/computer.
So if your TV does not support an higher resolution, you will not be able to choose another resolution.
If your TV supports higher resolution but the graphic card driver and graphic chip would not support higher resolution, you will also not be able to use it.

  • No output to HDMI (but ok to VGA...) after CPU upgrade

    Hi there,
I have a very strange problem... hope you can help!
I wanted to upgrade my Mac Mini to use it as an HTPC, so I passed from 1.83Ghz CoreDuo/512Mb to 2.00Ghz Core2Duo/2Gb.
The CPU and RAM upgrade process went OK, so I tried to connect the Mini to my HDTV (TOSHIBA 37A3030D) via a DVI->HDMI cable, but the screen was blank.
I thought I had somehow damaged the digital video out of the Mini during the upgrade, so I tried to plug a 17" monitor with a VGA-VGA cable and a DVI-VGA adapter: no problem there.
Then I thought about a cable issue, but the very same cable works perfectly when I try it with my MacBook Pro, and in the same TV.
So I played a little with SwitchResX and finally resolved: after few tries and some reboots everything worked.
But then I noticed that CPU temperature was a little too high, so I decided to re-open my Mini and put a better thermal compound.
All went well, or so it seemed: in fact since this last intervention the CPU temperature went ok but I couldn't get HDMI output from my Mini any more!!
Output to VGA still works, tried with the monitor I mentioned before and with my TV's VGA input ... too bad I can't reach 1080i via VGA!.
    I tried almost everything:
    - Playing around with SwitchResX, with no luck this time...
    - Resetting PRAM and NVRAM with various methods (the little button on the motherboard, CMD-OPT-P-RE during the boot, etc... )
    - Resetting SMC
    - Resetting firmware (keeping the power button pressed when turning on the machine 'till it beeps)
    - Reinstalling Leopard
    ...no results.
The weird thing is that if I VNC to the mini I notice that the TV is correctly recognized (screenshot: http://www.matteo.ge.it/vnc_mini.jpg), and EDID data seems ok (link: http://www.matteo.ge.it/TOSHIBA-TV_macmini.txt)
Do you guys have any idea?
Thank you so much, I'm getting desperate

I tried to connect the mini to the TV just after the upgrade. After some tweaking with SwitchResX it worked. The problems began when i decided to re-open the mini to put some better termal compound over the CPU.
I agree with you, I have probably screwed up something during this operation, but I really can't say what!!! I tried both TechToolPro and the hardware tests from Tiger DVD, and all of the tests were ok...
I phoned to the Apple tech support here in italy, but they proposed me to change the entire logic board, which would cost me almost the price of a brand new machine!!
The ultimate test I want to do is to hook up my Mini to a DVI monitor with a DVI-D cable.
If it doesn't work, It is almost certain that I have damaged digital video out (even if I would like to know how I could did that!!)

  • HP Pavilion dv9218tx Notebook PC and HDMI audio problem with Sony TV and Windows 7

Sound does not come through with the HDMI connection and, on investigation, there is no HDMI audio driver/option.
Noting that there seemed to be an issue with windows 7 and HDMI audio which is addressed by updating the BIOS and the connexant sound driver I have done so to no effect.
The Sony TV is recognised as a standard monitor in the devices for graphics but not for audio
Suggestions as to why HDMI does not appear - including as a disabled service - and what to do t get is available?

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I will definitely assist you with lack of sound issues. Before anything else is done, please make sure you try every step in this thread: Troubleshooting Guide: Audio does not Work after a Certain Period of Time
If every step does not help, please provide the following information:
    1. The computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your notebook product number
    2. The computer's operating system. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website to determine your Windows operating system.
    3. Does this occur on certain programs, or all programs?
    4. Have you installed any new software or drivers on this computer, before the issue appeared?
    5. What steps have been attempted from my first post on this thread, and what were the results?
Additionally, if the issue just began occurring, I would perform a system restore. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore
Either way, let me know what happens. Thanks!

  • IPad2 won't output through HDMI

It seems ipad2 device doesn't know what to do with it
It doesn't output video or sound to HD TV.
Once in a while, it does output for 2 seconds and the screen goes back to black and can't get the signal, although, on ipad screen, it's saying that the video is playing on the TV connected which isn't.
Cables work fine with iphone4 so they're not the problem.
I tried change video setting to PAL or NTSC.
I tried various applications and formats like flexplayer, youtube, podcast videos, mp4, avi.
    Can anyone help me?
    Would the device be faulty?

It was because of a faulty connector.
Don't buy cheap HDMI converter for iPad from ebay.
    I worked with iPhone4 though.
I'm using AV Adapter bought from Apple.
    It works fine.

  • Having problems choosing sound output through HDMI to my television, any one any ideas?

Though listed in the sounds options, I can't seem to choose a sound output to my TV through HDMI. I have sound output to headphones via the headphone socket or usb, but when I highlight to the HDMI TV option it justs returns to the top of the list, any ideas anyone?

About alsa dmix, and for the record:
On an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     E7500  @ 2.93GHz, the following are my finding about
quality/cpu when mixing two streams at 44khz:
    a snippet from my .asoundrc
    #converter "samplerate_best" # perfect: 16%cpu, maybe overkill
    #converter "samplerate_medium" # almost perfect: 6%cpu
    #converter "samplerate" # good: 4%cpu, definitely usable
#converter "samplerate_linear" # bad: 2%cpu, way better than default wine resampler
#converter "samplerate_order" # very bad: 2%cpu, like the default wine resampler
Here is the reference topic: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=942724
I may be wrong, but in an opensource world (code reusing), i really doubt pulseaudio could lead to better quality/cpuuse tradeoff.
Pulseaudio, being just another layer atop of alsa, could only lead to higher cpu usage.

  • Change screen output to HDMI input

I have inserted a HDMI cable into my laptop, and wish to use my laptop screen to display the content of the device on the other end of the HDMI cable. How can I do this?

Unfortunately, this isn't possible, as the HDMI connector on your laptop is an output, not an input.

  • HD 7100 1 STB doesn't output thru HDMI

    Hi, All.
Just received HD 7100 1 STB and after successful activation I can not access the STB setup menu by following the instructions in the manual which calls for connecting the TV and STB via HDMI,  turn off the STB and manually press Menu on STB while leaving TV on.....then the Menu is supposed to show on the TV. No menu shows on the TV regardless of what format the TV is config'd to receive. I can access the STB in the regular FIOS menu and config the video settings but no where is there a setting for activating HDMI output from the STB. I am only able to receive video by connecting the tv  to the STB via coax. Am I missing a step or do I possibly have a defective STB? I do receive an HD signal using coax but I would sure like to connect using HDMI.
    Thanks,

    RichC426,
First, I don't believe you are getting a true HD picture via coax from the STB. HD signals are only sent via the HDMI and component cable connections.
This may be a silly question, but have you changed the "input source" or whatever they call it on your TV? Getting the input via the coax is one source, the HDMI input is another source, and you need to change to that source. I don't think any TVs will automatically switch, otherwise you could not have a different device inputting live to the TV at the same time.
And, if you can't get the HDMI to work, try the component cable option. You need five cables, three for the video and two for the sound.

  • Separate audio output from HDMI

    Hi,
I connected my iPad 2 through HDMI to my monitor.
The image is very good but unfortunately, my monitor doesn't have speakers so it cannot play sounds and when I connected iPad to monitor, iPad redirected all it's sound to HDMI.
So is there a way to specify to iPad to play sound on it's speakers or 3.5 mm audio output and play video through HDMI?
    Thank you,
    Lisur

Is this the adapter you are using?
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=3 a
If it is, then you have next to the HDMI socket also a Lightning socket to which you could connect any audio system with a Lightning connector.
You may have a larger choice of audio systems for the old 30-pin connector, but then there is this solution:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD824ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter-02-m?fno de=3a
    It's your call now...

  • HDMI only output ( using HDMI as input )

    Hello,
I'm wondering if is possible to use the new MacMini for streaming.
If the HDMI port can be used as a video input then I can use it with Quicktime Broadcaster feeding from a video camera equiped with HDMI.
Is that possible or the HDMI port is output only?
    thanks in advance.

You can get an HDMI capture card for the Mac Pro, but obviously this will not fit in a Mac mini! See http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/
It is not clear whether this will work with sources using the ghastly HDCP content protection.
There is also the Elgato EyeTV HD which will record from a component (not HDMI) source and this would work with a Mac mini as it connects via USB. See http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/EyeTV-HD/product1.en.html
