Notification center not responding

Despite the last update OS X 10.8.2 , the Notification center stops responding. I have to shut down/restart the iMac or to have kill the proces with acivity monitor. Most of the time when I restart or completely shut down and start I have to reset, by power button, my iMac (mid 2011) because the start procedure will not finish and end up with an empty desktop.
Today also email app froze on me. Is there an other update on the way to fix these problems or are there any suggestions that I could look into?
Kind regards,
Richard Gase

The next time you have the problem, note the exact times when it starts and ends: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Post any messages timestamped during that interval – the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Why Siri , notification center not in blur effect on iOS 7? I use iPad 3G

Please help me and fix this error
I have iPad 3G yesterday installed ios7 but Siri , notification center not in blur effect why?

I thought it was a bug too, but after a little research, it seems that apple removed that feature after beta 4 (obviously for no reason, because the iPad 2 & 3 have been capable enough on the other betas). Blur is a iPad 4-only feature now.
Really disappointing, because my iPad is just a year old.

  • Email notification center not working on iPhone5

My email notification center on the new iPhone5 does not appear to be responding to changes that I make.
For example.  Whenever I'm at the office, I don't need my phone to notify me of every email that comes in.  So I go into NOTIFICATIONS, EMAIL, and I turn "notification center" off.  I also switch the alert style to NONE.  However, I still see my phone light up whenever a new email comes through and the alert shows on the middle of the screen.
I've discovered that if I power cycle the phone, SOMETIMES, the setting will take.
I've gone from Blackberry to Android, and now to iPhone.  The one feature that the BB did have which I loved was that you could very easily set all of your ringtones, alerts, etc... based upon a predifined notificatios app.  for instance, If I chose 'Office", my phone would be set to vibrate for incoming calls and text messages, but nothing else.  If picked "Home" it would ring for everything (phone calls, text messages, email, FaceBook, etc...).  If I picked "Sleeping" it would would ring Only incoming calls and text messages.
I see that iPhone has attempted to do this with the DO NOT DISTURB option.  I can quickly turn everything off with the exception of incoming calls.  It would be nice if this option was more advanced and allowed me to set how I want each of my notifications to work, depending on which setting i picked.
I'm curiose as to whether or not any apps exist to allow this functionality.  I have not been able to find one.

Well, I have a plain question for EVERYONE here:
Do you see the same Notification Center on the Lock Screen as in the Home Screen?
    Do you? Anyone?
Apple: make sure you work on this stuff really fast, it's very anoing what you are doing here. I need the NotificationCenter on the LockScreen, with the Favorites contacts there too. Just learn from the jailbreak software, NOW !
I bet it's not a mistake, it's just the way Apple think it's better for me. They are so smart they know what's better for me all the time. Just plain WRONG !!!

  • Why is notification center not working for mail?

Im not receiving mail on notification center, why is that happening?

    Good, glad it worked.
If you find you're getting too many notifications and get fed up, you can set it in Mail to VIP (smart mailbox).
You can make people VIPs by clicking the star symbol in front of their names and Notification Center will only notify you about emails from these certain people.

  • Mail & Notification Center not working

Not getting any alerts/badges when receiving mail via the Mac Mail application. Here's everything I have done tested so far:
    - tested by sending email from another account, not via the mac mail app
    - uninstalled Growl, rebooted then reinstalled Growl
    - opened Notification Center prefs and turned all off, rebooted then turned all on
    - Made sure that Gen Prefs in Mail app have notifications set for any mailbox...also tested with inbox only
    - set mail account to POP and IMAP with same result
I've made sure Mail was running in the background and still no notification when Mail arrives. Also disabled my mail acct and added an iCloud account and still no new notifications.
    Am I missing something?

Thanks andregotz for your suggestion. I removed my personal email adress from Adressbook and all new mail now appears in NC. That is to say, when the mail app IS running. It would be nice to receive a notification in NC for new mail when the mail app is NOT running! Calendar works that way too. I receive notifications in NC for every new calendar item even when the calendar app is not running.

  • Notification center not saving preferences

    OSX10.10 MacBook Pro, 2.8 GHz, i7, 4 GB
I have most notifications turned off.  When I reboot, the Notification Center resets to defaults.  Won't save my prefs.  Anyone else find this and hopefully have a solution?  Thanks.

Here are the instructions I got from AppleCare from an Apple Engineer. I'm not sure if the fix was specifically for my machine or if it'll work for someone else. Follow at your own risk.
    1. Open the Library folder in your Home folder.
    2. In the Library folder, open the Application Support folder.
    3. Locate the folder named NotificationCenter. Drag this folder to the desktop.
    4. Next, open the Terminal application.
Copy and paste each line of these commands into the Terminal window, in order. Press return after each line:
    cd `getconf DARWIN_USER_DIR`
    rm -rf com.apple.notificationcenter
    killall usernoted; killall NotificationCenter
    5. Close the Terminal app.
    6. Restart your computer.
The notification preference changes won't stick until you restart a 2nd time after this.

  • Yosemite "Notification center" "not running"

Since installing Yosemite, the notification center icon remains in the upper right hand corner of the menu bar, but when clicked it never opens, and it is not running in the Activity monitor.

  • Mountain Lion notification center not working.

After getting Mountain Lion installed and notification center setup, I only receive notifications for Twitter and Reminders.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Facebook, Mail, Messages, and all the others are not alerting and are not showing up when I open the right sidebar.

I just did a clean install of Mountain Lion and I thought that my issue with this had something to do with it.  One thing is that my notification center for Facebook doesn't have all of the options that the OP's center has:
I deleted the PreferencePane for Notification and reinstalled 10.8.2 but I still get this result.  No sound in Notifications on the Mac or my iPhone for Facebook.

  • IOS 5.0.1 Notification Center not actually turned off, draining battery

Before iOS 5  upgrade, I deleted Trapster after use, and I would not receive any more alert.
After iOS 5 upgrade, I experienced crazy battery drainage.  I turned off the diagnosis and usage, and chose Do Not Send.  Not helpful to save battery life.
After iOS 5.0.1 upgrade, battery drainage has been varied between 8% to 15% per hour, even worse!
    I found a few problems:
    1.  After using Trapster, and deleted it from memory, while the notification was set as OFF, though alert was set to Banner in the Notification Center, the Alerts still appear when Locked on.  I changed the Alert from Banner to None, but without reset the iPhone, later in the day, Trapster still gave me a few banners alert, though it was not in the memory.
    2.  Sometimes my iPhone 4S has hot rim while no app in memory and in sleep mode, charging or non-charging.  I ran System Activity Monitor app and found that 45%-65% CPU resources are being used.  For no intervention at all, it will drop back to 2% to 5% after a few minutes and the battery dropped 5%- 15% within that period.
    3.  After taking photos with the Camera while Options HDR is ON, even though the Camera app was deleted, the iPhone 4S remains hot or even getting hotter.  (Sometimes I could get the same result when tests were repeated but not always.)
I have 10 apps set ON at Notification Center, but Trapster is one of the 37 apps Not in Notification Center.
I am thinking that the Location Services (as in Camera) and Notification Center are not actually able to turn off, even though you may have actually turned them off.
I have 2 iPhone 4S.  This is about the one upgraded from iPhone 3GS.
Another iPhone 4S, which upgraded from iPod 2G, has no battery drainage problem from day one.

Since I upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 I have a problem with the camera (no zoom).  The iOS 5 has got many problems it appears.

  • Twitter share button in notification center not working?

I finally got my code for my free upgrade to Mountain Lion... I updated my computer last night and everything seems to be working well.  Other than the fact that they decided to leave the Facebook integration out without saying anything until last minute (that's the feature I was really looking forward to).  But anyway I woke up this morning and I went to send a tweet from the notification center.  The button is there but when I click it nothing happens.  I've removed my twitter account and readded it.  i checked the box to remove the share button and readded.  I restarted my computer twice and nothing... Anyone have any ideas?

I know the ans...first install os x mountain lion again above all your installation..then see the build it should be.. (12c60) then..update every thing..but dont install or update..."update for macbook pro and macbook air 2.0 "it is the culprit ...then hide that update..and remember to install offline version of combo and supplement update 10.8.2..ok..as sometimes when ur notification cetre not work then installoffline "combo and supp" updates...ok..REMEMBER NOT TO INSTALL MACBOOK AIR AND MACBOOK PRO 2.0 UPDATE...PLZ...AND USE UR SYSTEM...!! follow me https://www.twitter.com/ankit8083   https://www.facebook.com/ankit8083...good luck..DONT CHANGE UR BUILD..AS IF U WILL CHANGE IT THEN UR SHARE BUTTON WILL NOT WORK..IN NEW BUILD..!!And wait for apple to get new build after april 2013...but not download macbook pro and macbook air 2.0 update..which help in graphical improvements and some usb devices...!!

  • Facebook Share from Safari and Notification Center Not Working

So, for a couple of days now I haven't been able to share a website to Facebook using the share button in Safari or post a status update via the Notification Center. I do not recieve any sort of error messages. Nothing happens at all when I click on the necessary buttons to post or share. I do get Facebok notifications that show up as a banner and also in the notification center. Here's what I've done:
    - deleted and readded my Facebook account in Mail, Contacts, & Calendars in the System Prefrences Pane
    - Reset Safari
    - Cleared all website data from Safari
    - Tried in a different user - Issue Persisted (so, it seems to be a system wide problem)
I'm not sure what else I can do. I am definitely logged in with all the correct data for Facebook. I did do the software update last week (10.8.3) but am unsure whether it worked after installing it. Any ideas?

Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Notification center not opening

I just installed Mounrtain Lion. The notification center won't open, the icon in the upper right corner of the screen is light gray. What might be the problem?

Are you sure you went to System Memory?
it have to be there... see in this image
Ah, my tip... if you dislike Safari, try to use Firefox. I've been using it since my old Windows, and it's fantastical too, not so many as Safari, of course.

  • IOS 7 notification center not translucent

So I downloaded and installed ios 7 on my iPhone4. And noticed the translucency was not working. It doesn't work on the notification center, keyboard, volume sign, or anything that's supposed to be translucent. Please help. Thanks

Unfortunuetly, the iPhone 4 is unable to be translucent.
I'm no Genius but I believe it just did not have the build for it and it probably would've required some extra battery power. That's my guess on that but I am quite certain that the iPhone 4 does not have the capability to be translucent

  • Apple Support Communities email notifications preferences not responding

Last night I accidentally reset my email preferences to receive all posts to this discussion group.  I quickly changed it, but the emails have been flooding in ever since.  I've gone back to my profile email preferences several times now to remove ALL notifications and Saved my changes but the system is not responding.  What else can I do???  Yikes

After posting this I found Ronda Wilson's June 16, 2011 response to Enver Masud stating that you must turn off email notifications in two places, the Actions box on upper right of each page, as well as the profile settings.  I thought I recalled changing the Actions preferences last night, but apparently that was the problem.  All is apparently resolved now.

  • Why is the notification center not showing?

This has happened like... 7 times since I updated (I may had happened before, but I think it was the update). It just don't work. I get a message or some push from any app and I can pull the banner down; else, I can't get to make appear the notification center, even with notification pendings. And this last untl I reboot the phone (hard or simple way).
I just hoped someone could clear me out in this: Is it an iOS internal problem, a bug they missed? I've seen a few by the way, and I don't even know where to report them...

It's not a bug, but it is something wrong with your phone. If it were a bug you would see huge numbers of posts about it, like this:
Is the phone jailbroken? If it is you've found the cause. If it isn't connect to iTunes and Restore the phone using the button on the summary screen.
