Notification sounds only when I get email from address book contacts

I am getting constant sound notifications whenever I get email but very few emails really require instant attention. I do not want to hear a sound when I get an email, except when the sender is one of my contacts. What settings do I need to make this happen? Thanks.

OK, perhaps I see the problem now.

  • MAIL WILL REPLY, BUT WON'T SEND FRESH EMAILS FROM ADDRESS BOOK

HI, Recently set up my pop3 account on mail. And hit a problem. Mail will receive emails, will send "REPLYS" but will not send fresh emails from address book or even if i type them in manually.
    This is so stupid.
    Help guys, Thanks
    Liam

You should set it to Port 465, and select SSL, assuming this is the smtp.gmail.com server. Your ISP is probably blocking use of such a SMTP on Port 25, and that is very common policy.

  • How do I get my iphone Address Book contacts to a BB Torch

hey guys - I am stuck!  I cant seem to get my contacts and calendar appointments from Iphone to my BB torch. Can anyone help me?
I am using 'ical' for calendar and 'address book' for contacts.
    Thanks and regards,
    Sham

First off, you need to determine with Apple how you can extract or move to your Mac, the calendar events and Address Book contacts. I don't know how Apple provides for that.
After you've done so, you can sync to the BlackBerry using the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Set the Configuration up in the Desktop Software to sync to your Mac's data.

  • How do you control layouts of label printing from address book / contacts

Has anyone found a smart way or some smart software to help me with this ?
I want to select  a subset of my contacts in address book and give the group a name, like "Xmas cards". As I add new contacts I want to occasionally add some of them to this sub group.
Then at Xmas I want to print off the postal addresses of the contacts in this sub group onto standard Avery labels to use on my Xmas card envelopes.
I know there is a way of printing from address book to labels, but I don't seem to have any control on the label font, font size or layout.
Ideally I would like to use a currently unused field in address book to store the way I would like the first line of the contact to print such as " Mr and Mrs Smith" or "John Smith and Jane Doe" - which may be different from the way record the  "name" field. So I need flexibility of choosing which fields to print in which order on the labels
Does anyone else do something like this and how? Do you use some third party software to help manage it?

  • Problem: Only receiving e-mails from address book contacts

BlackBerry Curve 8330m on Sprint BIS.
Only e-mail account registered is a university (.edu) email address.
No filters set up in BIS whatsoever.
Problem: If an address NOT in my address book sends me an e-mail, I do not receive it on my BlackBerry. I'm only seeing e-mails sent by people in my address book. I would prefer to receive ALL e-mails.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

That also happened to me for a few days. I was looking for some solution in forums and I found this: the same problem and no solution. Then the light came to me:
A few days ago I changed some security settings without clear idea about consequenses. Now I have fixed it:
    1) click "OPTION" menu
    2) click "SECURITY OPTIONS" menu
    3) click "SECURITY SERVER" menu
    4) Now unblock the incoming messages for each one of the services: uncheck SMS, MMS, PIN, BIS, BES
    5) Save settings
(My blackberry language is spanish but I think translation is right)
... In  my case I had blocked all the incoming email BIS messages except the coming from the contacts in my address book. I hope this works for both you with the same problem in case you still (10 months later) don't have fixed it or change to iPhone :-)

  • Emailing from address book

I cannot, with this current software, right-click on an email address in the Address Book and have the option to send an email pop up. It's no longer an option in spite of the fact that Address Book help says it should pop up. What am I doing wrong? It used to be so simple.

You're not doing anything wrong. That's not an option in the current version of Address Book. Unless there's a trick I haven't found, you now have to click on the entry and then click (standard click) on the "email" label to get the Send Email command.
    Regards.

  • Everytime when I get emails from my gmail account. I end up getting 2 emails one from the email app and one from gmail app. Also I have my wifi off and I can't get 4G LTE

Any suggestions please and thank you

Fix number one: turn one of the Gmail applications off. Then it will come to just one app.
Fix number two: You must turn on cellular data/LTE on your device to access your 4G LTE or turn off your WiFi to use cellular data.
    Good Luck

  • Get Fields from Address Book

In the Automator action "Get Contact Information" there are quite a few fields which are not available. Ex. 'Spouse' & 'Children'. Does anyone know an action or Applescript that can make those fields available for export to a text file?
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I believe that I answer that question in a phone call message today to person who asked that, but in case that was a different customer, let me say yes, you can print your labels with both contact and company name. You want to download and run RollCall Directory, and select the Label feature. From the menubar, select the Labels menu, and then the Label Content submenu, and then the Custom menu item. You will see the Custom Label Content window, with the Macros used to display your labels. For example, the default address label is:
    /NAME
    /ADDRESS
This set of macros tells the label to print out one line of name (be it company name or persons name, depending on if the contact is company or person) followed by the address. You want to change it to:
    /COMPANY
    /FULL
    /ADDRESS
The label will then display the company name, the contact person's full name and the address. Take a look at some of the example address formats, to see how other macros are used.
    I hope this helps,
    Sincerely,

  • Can't Select or Copy Text or Data from Address Book Contact Card w/out Edit

Is it something I am doing wrong or did someone at Apple have the weird idea to make it impossible to select/copy text in a contact card in Address Book?
Can you drag/select/copy a URL in a contact card in Address Book, e.g. if you had to paste it into another program or even a different contact card? Thanks.

that would be the latter although i suspect it's a bug. it is now also impossible to select all in an address card to quickly copy and paste into a text document. you have to do it one field at a time and it doesn't seem to work with URL at all.

  • How to clear image in sender label to print envelopes from Address Book

    Hello!
I had been printing envelopes for greeting cards using Address Book. I had always ignored the "Image" option under "Label" for the +sender's information+. Today I decided to explore this option and clicked on "Set". Then I chose a picture from my "Pictures" folder. It looks nice and I was able to change the picture several times, but now _I do not want any "image" in the sender's label_.
*How do reset the "Image" to none?*
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
    Osk Asks

Hello captfred! Thank you for your reply. I tried to do what you suggested but it seems that it only works for cards in my contacts or for my own card. My problem is within the settings under label when I am printing from Address Book.
This is how I have been doing it:
    1) Select a contact or a group of contacts
    2) Click on File on the top of the screen and then select Print
    3) A window pops up and there I can choose whether I want to print an envelope, a list, or mailing labels
    4) In that same window is where I clicked on "Image" and "Set"
    5) Finally I click on "Print" on the bottom right corner and I get neat envelopes with my address (sender) and the recipients (my contacts)
I hope this helps you to help me!
    Thanks in advance!

  • List of email clients/address books that will sync with palm desktop 6.2

Is there (and if not, I think there should be) a list somewhere of email clients whose address books will sync with a palm Treo (palm Desktop version 6.2)? I have been happily using various palm handhelds for about 6 years now and have been syncing the address book with Mozilla and now Thunderbird  for the last couple years. I currently have an m130, but it's time to upgrade to a "smart phone" as I'm tiering of carrying around two devices. Unfortunately, the Treo requires palm Desktop version 6.2 which is not compatible with the Thunderbird palm sync. I have had the idea that Outlook (which I've never used or been exposed to) will sync with palm, but something I read gave me the impression that I would need to buy some third party software to make that happen, plus the $110 they want for Outlook. I would like to think there are other choices for someone who just wants to sync their smart phone with their email client's address book. It seems that such syncing ability would be esential to palm's sales and that a listing of all such syncing possibilities would be extremely beneficial to sales, particularly for new sales to people aren't already insiders on this sort of topic. The lack of ability to sync with Thunderbird may just cause me to stick with my old m130 awhile longer and give up on the idea of a nice new smart phone.

Wow, thanks a bunch! You just saved me from a long, involved, and discouraging search for an alternative. I'm using WindowsXP, palm m130, palm desktop 4.1, Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 and Thunderbird's palm sync conduit palmsync-2.0.0.x-wsm .  I'm wanting to purchase a Treo 700 on ebay, but went to the palm site, clicked on the support link, then the Treo 700, then the downloads tab and it directed me to desktop 6.2, which made me believe I would have to use that to sync a treo 700.
I do wish that both palm and Thunderbird would talk more about the palm Thunderbird palm sync. Unless you're a real geek or very determined (I'm the later), you're not likely to find out that such capability exists. I can't believe I'm the only one out there who needs to have my email client address book contacts with me all the time, so there has to be others who are looking for this.
Next stop, ebay - I have a smart phone to buy.

i didn't read a lot of your 2nd paragraph, but it seems like the password is the issue, right?
    do a true clean install
reboot your machine and hold down command+option+r, you should see a spinning globe - if you don't see the globe or anything that reads internet recovery, shut down and try again
at menu, chose disk utility and once there, find your HD on the left side, select the physical name and erase it as mac journaled
    exit disk utlity
    at menu, choose install OSX
this time, when it asks for a password just hit continue, it will let you complete without a password
you should be able to get into your laptop, now figure out what password you'll be able to use with your kb issue
