Number of attachments not showing up in Sent mail list

Since I migrated mail from my MacBook Pro running Leopard to my shiny new MacBook Pro running Lion (I used Migration Assistant), when I look at my Sent Mail box I don't see the number of attachments listed (I'm using the Classic mail format).  I can see emails previous to my migration showing the number of attachments in the Sent mailbox.  When I look at View Columns, Attachment is checked. I've executed the View Rebuild command on the Sent folder.  References to attachment (the paper clip) doesn't appear in the newer Lion mode either.  I also did a Disk Utility rebuild permissions command and the number of attachments still don't show up.  I do see the number of attachments noted in the InBox.  Maybe someone has some insight on this problem?

really nobody else has ever heard of this issue?

  • SMTP sent mail not showing up in sent mail folder

    Hello,
    Setup:
    Exchange 2010 SP1
    Outlook 2010
C# for sending mail, or Pentaho Kettle
Not really sure how to explain, but I have the following scenario:
Automatic programs send email using credentials (an active username / password on the domain. account linked to a mail box).
    Mail gets sent.
Mail does not show up in the sent mail folder of the account
I was wondering if there was a parameter on the Exchange server to configure so that the email sent via SMTP would show up in the sent mail box of the account.

  • Attachment icons not showing up in sent mail...

This is strange...running all latest software. When I sometimes go back to view a sent message to confirm that I sent a particular file to someone, the email appears as though it sent just fine and is in the sent mail folder. However, there are no longer any attachments to view. The recipient did receive the attachments, but I can't confirm what I sent!
I have another mac and that does not happen. I can view sent mail and see attachments just fine.
Does anyone know if I'm just missing a setting or something to view attachments in sent mail?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Email sent with attachments not showing in sent folder

I have recently found that emails I send with an attachment do not show up in my sent folder. They are arriving at recipient but I do not then have a record of the email sent.  This is really very annoying and I can see a few other poplin online forums are having the same problem.  However nobody seems to have come up with a solution.  It appears I have to cc myself in to the mail and then move it to my sent folder when it arrives. I can't keep doing this.  Other emails without attachments are showing in the sent box.  Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this please.

Didn't work for me... (rebuilding the mailbox)
I cleaned the Sent mailbox and rebuilt the culprit mailbox and the general "Sent" mailbox.... sent a message.. it 'hung' in the Outgoing Message box for @ 20 seconds and it sounded as if it were sent and when checking the Sent mailbox for that account, it did not show.... I tested this again with another message addressed to myself and it sent as expected and showed in the Sent mailbox for the account... Did another test to a different recipient and the message sent as expected and showed in the Sent mailbox... The only corrollary that exists at this stage, is the recipient of the "disappearing" messages is that I email this particular recipient very regularly and at times with long threads... However, these last messages were completely different subjects and previous replies to this persons email sent as expected.... so this is a random occurrence.

  • Why do Apple Mail attachments not show in SENT?

    I use Mountain Lion OSX10.8.2 on a 27" iMac/1TB HD/12GB RAM.
When I write an Apple Mail email and attach a jpg (for example),
I am never sure if the attachment was sent.
Apple Mail will not show me in SENT that there was an attachment.
There is no record of the attachment on the previous sent email.
Am I missing something? How the heck am I suppose to know if
ANY attachment was sent or not?

Hmm I thought this got sorted out in 10.8 but maybe not.
I asume you are in full screen, with the three column view?
If you change to classic you should see the attachment paper clip?
What I had to do for a work-a-round was create a "rule." Even with this you have to right click the selected sent box>> apply rules

  • Attachments not showing as attachments in mail

Why are my attachments not showing up as attachments when recieved. They are sent from Mail as windows "friendly" - but never the less always show up inlaid in the mail. The recipient then have to ctrl clik on the documents, save them on the harddrive before being able to fx print.
very annoying indeed - please can anyone help on this :-)

thanks for quick responce - but the problem lies with the recievers of MY mails - where the attachments is only inlaid and not showing as an attachment. The reciever then have problems opening attachments in i.e. Photoshop, and they cannot print the attachments directly from the mail..

SIgn in with your Apple ID, the same one you used to access this support forum.
Hopefully, you will see a list of all the devices you registered with your Apple ID, including their serial numbers. Let me know how this works out.
Edit to add: If you enabled "find my imac" on your Pro, you ought to be able to remotely lock it, or even wipe its memory. Click http://www.icloud.com/ sign in with your Apple ID and click the big green "find my iPhone" icon (nevermind the name, it will find all your devices provided they're running Lion or iOS 5).
Then file a police report and nail the b*****d.

  • Attachments not showing up in Mail

Do anyone have a usable solution for getting attachments to show up correctly in Mail? Every time I receive emails with an Excel or .csv, or for that matter .psd, .pdf or .doc files in them, the attachments never show up in the message body field or listed among the attachments.
To give you an example: My list view of emails show the email with the paper clip icon and "4 items", but only 3 items are visible from both the preview window and when I open the email.
I know there is a work around by selecting File > Save attachments, but come on that is not really a viable solution in an office setting when I receive 100-200 html emails with attachments, logos and other stuff on a daily basis.
Do any of you kind superusers found a usable solution for this problem that doesn't involve saving everything attached from the File menu?
    Br,
    Christian
And Apple... come on... you have got to be kidding with this #€#%!!! How can you be expected to be taken seriously as a productivity tool when something as simple as receiving attachments doesn't work. I feel like an idiot having purchased a MacBook Pro but still have to use Entourage because the most basic stuff isn't working as intended! (end of rant)

This sounds like either the sender's or the recipient's (your) mail server is scrambling the attachments. This is becoming more and more common as ISPs try to scan for viruses and phishing attempts. If this is what is going of, it is very easy to detect. If you want, you can send one of these messages to me and I can tell you if my hypothesis is correct. Send the message to info at etresoft dot com and use the "Send Again" feature, not "Forward".

  • TS3276 After updating software yesterday, noticed that sent emails are not showing up in Sent Folder for one of my accounts.

After updating software yesterday, noticed that sent emails are not showing up in Sent Folder?

Are you storing Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk messages on the server via your .Mac account with Mail?
If so, do you access your .Mac account with an email client on another computer or regularly access your account via webmail on another computer?
If not, any other reason you need to store Drafts and Sent messages on the server?
While composing a message with Mail, it is temporarily saved in the account's Drafts mailbox so sounds like something went wrong with the process between finishing and sending the message with Drafts and Sent being stored on the server.
If you don't have any need for this, better to store Drafts and Sent messages locally on the hard drive with Mail.

  • TS4002 Once I send my email on icloud, it does not show up on my mail client or on icloud.  How can I retrieve an email sent this way?

Once I send my email on icloud, it does not show up on my mail client or on icloud.  How can I retrieve an email sent this way?

SADLY  not as i downloaded an upgrad to my original PAGES/
i have in the meantim had to open www.icloud. then from there import the file that i am working on and then check on ipad if it uploaded/ yes it did.
but what a waste of time as it doesn not save any changes done automatically back in the cloud....
i am now downloading the new LION and hope that it will fix the problem
i cant find any other way. I was lead to believe that you wrote, it saved automatically, on to the cloud, you then opened anohter device in anotother country even, and the new file was there, waiting, in its latest version.......
and the same magic was supposed to happen in reverse.
    It doesn't/
if i have to open a browser, go to www.icloud....why on earth did they not just leave us an icon to drop it in in that case?
I hope the new lion will help resolve the isssue/
any other ideas> keep em coming...thank you so much.

  • My sent mail does not show in the sent folder

I can send mail but the mail doesn't show in the Sent mail folder...why is that? I am a Verizon user.

It's fixed...I changed settings Mailbox Behavior to "on the server." Worked for my iPad mini, also.

  • ATV not showing in the iTunes device list? Check your HTTP proxy config

Seems like many people are having trouble getting their ATV to show up in the iTunes Devices list. Here's my situation, and the root cause:
    1. I have a small network at home consisting of one LAN with a number of computers, and a gateway router that provides DHCP, DNS and HTTP (web) proxy services
    2. I found that my ATV would display in the Devices list only when the ATV and at least one Mac were isolated from the rest of my network; when I connected them back to the rest of the LAN the ATV disappeared from the Devices list (in the simplest case this isolation was a crossover cable between the Mac and ATV)
    3. when connected to the whole LAN, the ATV could successfully contact the iTunes Store (trailers, etc) but would not show up in the Devices list
    4. I could ping the ATV from the Mac running iTunes every time (i.e. I did not have a basic connectivity problem; e.g. "ping appletv.local." always worked)
    5. I started with my ATV on v1.1, when I upgraded to 2.0 and turned on the the iTunes' "Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes" option ATV always appeared in the speaker list (i.e. even when it wasn't in the Devices list)
I had gone through the Apple troubleshooting guides, with no change.
After a lot of elimination I discovered that my problem was with my web proxy settings: my Macs were configured to use my gateway router for HTTP, and it seems that iTunes connects back to the Apple TV via HTTP - these requests were sent to the proxy and rejected (as they were for an address on the inside LAN; this is the way my proxy was configured).
I fixed the problem by using a PAC file specifying my LAN as "DIRECT" (e.g. below). An alternative would have been to configure my proxy to allow connections from the LAN back into the LAN (but be careful about allowing access from elsewhere, e.g. the Internet).
Here's my PAC file: my LAN is in the 10.0.0.0/8 address space, domain *.home.lan. (iTunes seems to contact the AppleTV via it's IP address, e.g. http://10.0.0.169:3689/ript/fp-setup?fairPlayID=4a5...):
    function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
    // simple hostname
    if (dnsDomainLevels(host) == 0) {return "DIRECT";}
// match Host against local domains (w/ optional :port)
    var dom = /(127\.\d.d+.d+|.local.?|10.d+.d+.d+|.home.lan.?)(:d)?/;
    if(dom.test(host)) { return "DIRECT"; }
// All other requests go through port 8080 of proxy
// should that fail to respond, go directly to the WWW:
    return "PROXY proxy.home.lan:8080; DIRECT";
The reason the ATV was successfully appearing in the Devices list when it and a Mac were isolated from the rest of the LAN was that the Mac was unable to reach the proxy, and falling back to the 'DIRECT' connection.
Note: if you don't have basic connectivity, e.g. if ping appletv.local. doesn't work, then the above is almost certainly not your problem.

    Hi There,
I have the exact same issue going on that this person described in this thread, but with the EXCEPTION in my case being that, after I have plugged my device into my laptop and uplugged it (about 10 consecutive times), my iTunes FINALLY recognizes my iPod Touch.
This is extremely frustrating to have to go through this scenerio each and every single time I want to synch and charge my Touch. Is there any way to correct it, so that the device would be recognized immediately when I first plug it in? It used to work this way (prior to the v.10 update, most likely).
    Thanks!

  • Some emails not deleting or not showing up in my Mail window.

My Mail program is having many problems--Some emails will be deleted but show up again when I reopen my Mail window, I cannot see emails in my draft folder, and there are times when emails sent to me are not showing up in my Mail window. I've redownloaded the mail program using my Tiger disk three times, but it never solves the problem. I'm about to reload my whole Tiger software, but I'm afraid I'll lose my 10.4.7 updates.

OK. In order to fix the problem, we need to re-create the index. Problem is, Mail may or may not choke on those messages while re-creating the index, so either be prepared for it or perform the optional steps 1 and 3:
    1. (Optional, but recommended). Try to find in ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/Messages/ the *.emlx files associated with the troublesome messages. Viewing the *.emlx files as List in the Finder showing the creation/modification date may help. Just identify them; do not get rid of them yet (you must quit Mail first).
    2. Quit Mail.
    3. (Optional, but recommended). If you found the troublesome *.emlx files in step 1, move them to the Trash.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
    5. Locate the Envelope Index file and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    6. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/. Locate Deleted Messages.mbox, and move it to the Trash. I assume there is nothing to be preserved there.
    7. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Locate the *.mbox folder that corresponds to the mailbox you created to try to isolate the troublesome messages, and move it to the Trash. Again, I assume there is nothing to be preserved there.
    8. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder.
