Numeric precision issue on OLEDB 11 R2 on Windows 2008 R2

Hello,
I am trying to use Linked Server From SQL Server 2008 SP 1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit to access an Oracle database (Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0).
I have installed client 11.2.0.1.0 R2 (win64_11gR2_client.zip) despite of I don't see any oracle driver in ODBC configuration (both 32 and 64 bit - why?),
my linked server works but with an issue:
The numeric columns in oracle have in sql server (via linked server and openquey) a data Precision issue;
In result my openquery cannot convert to Float, Numeric with the proper precision and scale.
Eg.: The original oracle value is 123,88 -> In sql sever via openquery and linked server becomes 12388,00!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your help!
GC
In summary:
Oracle Server: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0
Application/SQL DB Server: Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 SP 1, Oracle client 11.2.0.1.0 R2 (win64_11gR2_client.zip)
Issue: Numeric data Precision issue (The original oracle value is 123,88 -> In sql sever via openquery and linked server becomes 12388,00!)

SOLVED!
1) I Uninstalled previous Oracle drivers.
2) I downloaded the Oracle Database 10g Client Release 2 64 Bit (10.2.0.4) (10204_vista_w2k8_x64_production_client.zip) [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10204-winx64-vista-win2k8-082253.html]
3) When the installation fails due to the version of windows I have modified the file "oraparam.ini" under the folder ..\client\install\ and i adde "6.1" at the line: "[Certified Versions]
#You can customise error message shown for failure, provide value for CERTIFIED_VERSION_FAILURE_MESSAGE Windows=5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0"
becomes: [...] Windows=5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0,6.1
4) Restart setup and install: Later during the setup the Oracle Universal Installer does another check but now we can overcome the problem by ticking the boxes and check user verified (cheching operating system).
5) Check Allow in Process box under Linked server Oracle Oledb provider;
And that's all! It Works!!
Bye

  • Issues installing 11g client on windows 2008 R2

Hi I am a windows admin and have been asked to install oracle SQL developer and oracle 11g client on a windows 2008 R2 server.
    However it will not work.
After having issues and having to manually set environment variables and creating the folder path network\admin for the ora files, we still get the following issue
"IO Error: The network adapter could not establish the connection"
We have tried both 64 and 32bit versions.
Any help here would be very much appreciated.
    Paul.

Thanks for everyones response to this.
First issue was the server we were installing this on is not on the domain and doesnt point to our internal DNS. Hence it couldnt resolve the Host name in the tns file.
I added this to the hosts file, then we had to modify some of the registry entries and path manually.
We were then able to succesfully make a connection.

  • Issues installing 10g ODAC on Windows 2008 with Oracle 10g Express

I am new to Oracle and am having an issue installing Oracle Data Access Components on Oracle 10g 64bit running on Windows 2008 64bit.
I need the ODAC installed to enable integration with SSIS.
The issue I have if i install using ODAC10203x64 the setup file fails with a javaw error and the ntdll.dll.
I then downloaded the ODAC1110720 which states it backwards compatible. It installs just fine, but now i am not sure as to how to configure it correctly as the Configuration util that loads in ODAC10203x64 does not run.
The ODBC drivers are not visible under the ODBC connection manager although this may be an issue of just opening the 32Bit version.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi Ibrahim,
You should decide what you require.
32bit version can be installed on 64bit server and this should work fine (check the certification matrix for this).
The "problem" is that you would not gain any performance benefit from the 64bit server
If you want to have benefit you can upgrade the JVM to 64 bit version.
I did this 3 years ago and I do not remember exact steps though everything worked OK.
    WARNING:
this  can be unsupported, ask support to be sure
    - Install the 32 bit version on the server
    - Download 64 bit Java JRE/JDK and install it (well, you can search the same release as included in the AppServer or try newer one, 7 for example)
    - later, reconfigure the appserver so it uses the version you've installed, OR Copy the everything from c:\progfiles\java\... to the directory OraHome\... (forgot exact directories)

  • WMI issues in VMware based Machine Windows 2008 R2 Servers affecting SCCM Clients

    Dear
    Brothers,<o:p></o:p>
    I came to
an observation particularly in dealing with Windows 2008R2 Servers Vmware Based
    Virtual Machines with SCCM Clients.<o:p></o:p>
    Observation:<o:p></o:p>
    1. Windows
2008R2 Virtual Machine with Vmware Tools installed (Also depending in the
entries of WMI, I supposed). <o:p></o:p>
When the SCCM Server Pushes the client on this Servers, I found out that the SCCM Client
seems to be installed perfectly but when I tried to perform a remote WMI Query
and the response is displayed below (The RPC Server is unavailable).<o:p></o:p>
Now, I know that this kind of issues is something to do about DCOM Configuration
    for Remote Access right?
Well, sad to say the settings has been checked, trippled checked actually to make sure it is correct with the correct permissions required and proven correct up to the last settings.
I even compare the settings to those in some Windows Servers with Working WMI Remote Access.
    =========
What I have observed is that when we make a VMware Systems and install the
VMware Tools (see picture below) first before installing the
SCCM Client and the issue regarding WMI Remote access issues happens (The RPC Server is unavailable).
I proved it by creating a new VM Machine, then conduct installation in this order
SCCM Client first and then the
VMware Tools by this way so far the WMI Remote access works perfectly.
    Now the Question:
Since we have atleast 70 VM Servers in production with this issue, and I proven that the VMware Tools is something to do with this issue, somehow now I need to resolved this in a logical manner.
For some of us who can guide me to resolved the issue without uninstalling the VMware Tools and fixing the WMI settings and let the SCCM Client work.
    Regards,

We also have this issue. Nearly all of our terminal servers. I have to run a script to fix the issue and then reboot. It works, but only for a few days and then it starts all over again...

For the Update on this case Microsoft didn't find out direct connection of WMI issue to any contributors, however the clients
from Microsoft and and 3rd party application such as VMware is highly dependent on WMI for its total function.
    Things that we have learned:
    1. Your script is the primary solution as recommended as well by Microsoft, but this is to restore the WMI to its healthy State.
    Is the error gone?
    no definitely not.
Note: The WMIDiagnostic tool does not help to isolate at all, not even Microsoft is validating the credibility of its generated Logs from this tool.
    2. You need to apply the Hotfixes recommended by Microsoft to eliminate the WMI repository to increase its capacity which contributes to the Service to stall. Deliver the Patches via SCCM or any means of your patch deployment.
    3. Don't forget to reboot the Affected Server every Hotfix installation, this seems fix the issue. For 3 months now the usual system who got the WMI issue most of the time is no longer encountering the WMI errors. So far this is the solution, what causes
the issue? according to Microsoft the cause is the absence of the patches.

  • Issue with RDS Licensing on Windows 2008 R2

I'm attempting to consolidate 2 very small Citrix environments (only two total servers in each environment) into a single farm and when attempting to migrate RDP applications to what will be the full production environment, I'm receiving the following error
on only 1 of the 2 servers regardless of who launches:
The remote session was disconnected because there are no Remote Desktop client access licenses available for this computer.
Here's where it gets really interesting:
All servers are running Win 2008 R2 and are at the same patch level
In the environment I want to retire, each server has it's own Remote Desktop licenses that are on a Per Device level.
In the environment I want to migrate to, each server has it's own Remote Desktop licenses, one server is (currently) set to Per Device, the other Per User - but the one that is Per User is the one that can connect successfully.
I've attempted to change the RD Session Host Configuration to point only at the server that appears to be successfully allowing connections with no success.
I've reviewed other threads of similar error messages and none seem to apply.
I'm at a loss, please help.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
From your desciption it seems that you have set the RDS CAL to per device on one server and the one which is facing error, you are pointing that server to the server which is already set as Per device CAL and thus you are facing the error. Means The RD licensing
mode on the Remote desktop server set to Per Device, while the license server might have only Per User CALs.
If this is the case, the license server issues only temporary licenses that cannot be upgraded. When the temporary licenses are within several days of expiring, "Event ID 26, Source: Application Pop-up" appears in the application event log on the client.
The event message indicates the number of days remaining before the temporary license expires. Similarly, "Event ID 1011, Source TermService" appears in the application event log on the terminal server.
There are solution to this issue by changing the license mode and check the result. Also it can be possible that the remote desktop server might not be able to locate the license server.
Please go through below link carefully. (As it’s for server 2003 but we can verify the solution as described)
Troubleshooting Remote Desktop Licensing Error Messages
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc756826(v=ws.10).aspx#BKMK_12
In addition, you can try following solution.
    1 - Open regedit
    2 - Go to this location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing
3 - Then Delete MSLicensing key totally.
4 - Now reconnect to the same server machine through remote desktop.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • JFServer.exe fault in Windows 2008 server with Central V 5.7

I have an installation of Central 5.7 running 6 instances on Windows 2008 server 64 bit and have noticed that the six instances don't always come up when the machine is rebooted.  Here is the error that it logs in the Central Log.
    "Open of table 'C:\Users\Userid|Appdata\Local\Temp\JFX8A00.tmp' failed.
This also sometimes happens when I make changes to jobs in one of the instances and there seems to be no pattern wo what instances it happens in.
This behavior does not appear to happen with Central 5.7 running on XP or 2003 server.
Any thoughts on why this might be happening?

This is a recently known issue specific to Central on Windows 2008

    > As suggested by you we have downloaded the latest IBM DB2 V 9.7 FP3 from market place and completed the installation successfully. Now I am trying to perform post installation activities but I am facing few issues with Browser IE 8.0 on Windows 2008 Server R2.
    > I wonder if there any compatibility issues with IE 8 on Windows 2008 Sever R2 as I could not able to see any tabs once i login into portal. Even I could not able to login NWA also but the same is working fine in other browsers. Please suggest if i need to change IE settings to view all tabs properly in portal.
To use IE 8 you have to update to a certain patchlevel. This is listed in the PAM on
    https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001225132009E
on patch 16. You'll see there, that you will need to update to SP 6 on Windows 7 (and hence also on Windows 2008 R2).
    Please check with
Note 789220 - Support Package levels for Netweaver installations/upgrades
which SP level your installation has and update accordingly.
    > Other browser Firefox 4.0 I am able to login into Portal but when access user management and other tabs it says your browser doesn't support WebDynpro  Applications.. Please suggest.
Firefox 4.x is a beta browser, it's not yet released and therefore not supported.
For new installation it's always best to first install the latest patchlevels before you start configuring the system.

  • Crystal Reports (VS-2005). Service Pack for Windows 2008 Server

I had issues with reduced font size on Export and Printing. On a PC with Windows XP SP2 installed, I made registry changes as recommended in this post:
[Font size decreases when exporting to PDF (Crystal Reports)|http://mdn.morovia.com/kb/Font-size-decreases-exporting-PDF-Crystal-Reports-10053.html]
Prior to making registry changes, I also installed Crystal Reports SP1 for VS-2005. After this, everything seems to be working fine.
But I still have this Reduced Font Size issue on my Server with Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise installed.
I installed the same Service Pack and made the registry changes, but the changes don't seem to appear. It is still showing Reduced Fonts on Export and Printing. My server is also running Visual Studio 2005.

    I concur with Bhushan;
It may or may not work with windows server 2008 .
    One idea;
Use [Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx]. Look at the procmon logs and see if the registry key is being looked at \ accessed by the report engine.
Other than that, upgrade to a version of CR that supports the OS is your only option.

In Windows 2003 you faced the dubious task of having to do the F6 to install the 3rd party RAID drivers.
In Windwos 2008 Server, you are able to load the drivers on a memory stick and browse the drivers.

  • Remote desktop connection issue with an RDP client while connecting to some of windows 2008 and 2003 operating system flavors and not receiving SDin value choice 26 from DomainMCSPDU

    Hi Team
We have our RDP client and i came across with one issue "Expected data got 3" with this client.
This issue is getting while connecting some of below operating system flavors.
    Microsoft Windows 2008 Enterprise edition
    Microsoft Windows 2008 Standard edition
    Microsoft Windows 2003 servers
When we are trying to get RDP to those servers with our client, getting "Expected data got 3" error. One more main thing here is the specified error is not getting for all the servers of same operating system in above list.
Able to get the RDP console for those servers using mstsc client.
When i read the [MS-RDPBCGR] specification, i found the below points
mcsSDin (variable): Variable-length PER-encoded MCS Domain PDU (DomainMCSPDU) which encapsulates an MCS Send Data Indication structure (SDin, choice 26 from DomainMCSPDU), as specified in [T125] section 11.33 (the ASN.1 structure definitions
are given in [T125] section 7, parts 7 and 10). The userData field of the MCS Send Data Indication contains a Security Header and a Valid Client License Data (section 2.2.1.12.1) structure.
In my code i am not getting SDin value as 26. Is it the problem with Remote desktop Licensing in RDP servers as specified in the specification like "The userData field of the MCS Send Data Indication contains a Security Header and a Valid
Client License Data (section 2.2.1.12.1) structure."
Could you please explain me is this issue is happening due to Licence configuration in RDP server and please provide support with server side configuration if any because our code works for other servers ?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Windows 2008 Server Enterprise R2 x64 and Perc 4/dc SCSI driver issue

Hello all, this is the first time posting so please forgive me if this has been posted here before.  I did try to search this issue but zero returns.
OK, I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900.  I have just put a fresh install of MS Windows 2008 ENT. Server x64.  I cannot seem to find a driver for the PERC 4/dc SCSI controller I have installed.  I have been told the 2003 x64 driver would work so I attempted to install that driver but was unsuccessful.  Then I was told by Dell that the driver should be native to the OS.  Is the driver native to 2008 Server (or, supposed to be)?  Does anyone have an answer as to where I might retrieve am driver of the controller if not?  Anyway, thanks in advance

    Hello,
I don't have a PowerEdge 2900, but I do have a PowerEdge 2850.  I'm also just a regular bloke like yourself that just happened upon your post and after I figured this driver debacle out I registered to hopefully help.
The good thing is my PERC card is the same in the PE2850 as it is in your PE2900, as I'm utilizing a PERC 4/DC.  I've also managed to run into the same issue you ran into(?) trying to load Windows 2008 Server Enterprise R2 (support for 32bit processors have been removed in R2... so no more x86 versions... my poor PE2650s never stood a chance with this OS).
I can tell you officially from my experience/research Windows Server Enterprise R2 does not have support built into it for the PERC 4/DC card.
However, I was able to download the Windows 2003 x64 driver from support.dell.com and make it work after much trial and error with newer releases of the PERC 4/DC driver that were not accepted by 2k8R2.
    Here's the link:  http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=RC956904&l=en&s=hied&releaseid=R100373&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P3C_2850&servicetag=FBCLP61&os=WX64&osl=en&deviceid=6396&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=3&libid=35&fileid=129549
File name (incase Dell moves it on you guys) is "perc-w2k3-6.46.3.64-A01.exe", date released 6/9/2005, build version 6.46.3.64, and the Dell revision number is A01.
Even though it states the driver is for the LSI Logic PERC 4e/Si it's sort of a mega pack including many other drivers such as the PERC 4/DC.  This was much relief because I was thinking I would need to stick with Windows 2008 until I found this driver for Windows 2008 R2.  :)
    What I did was:
    1) Downloaded the driver and extracted it to a USB drive.
    2) Booted-up via the Win2k8R2 CD and when it got to the screen where it asked to install to a partition and didn't show me a partition to install Win2k8R2 to I selected the option to load a driver.
    3) From the load driver option I just browsed to the directory where I extracted the files and selected that directory.  If the "hide devices that are not compatible" option is selected (normally on by default) it will show you the proper driver.
    4) Select the PERC 4/DC driver and then setup your partitions the way you would like them!
From there you should be able to boot into the OS... and really have some fun.
Now you have the power... I guess the choice is yours to R2 or not to R2... that is the real question.  :)
    Enjoy!

Thanks and this worked for a Power edge 1800, PERC 4/DC as well. Kukan
