NVIDIA driver 1.13 for 648 max?

while reading this review of sis 648 boards:
http://www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/20021204/sis648-10.html
I came across nVIDIA driver 1.13 drivers which they appearently used in there testsetup for the chipset. What is this about? Is it some alternative to the sis drivers? Does anyone use it on a msi 648 max and is it any good?

How typical of tom....
They ment SiS AGP 1.13.

  • Fastest Compatable DDR RAM For 648 MAX?

I've been reading about all these problems people have been having concerning RAM/motherboard combinations, and have concluded that my RAM is what is causing my problems (XP/2000 installation difficulties, unrecognizable Gainward GF4 Ti4200 card, boot up problems).  Right now, I have one Kingston Hyper X 512MB DDR434 RAM (which is going out the door soon) installed on my 648 MAX.
I originally thought the video card problem was BIOS related because the only thing recommended by XP was to update the BIOS (said motherboard does not support your video card's features; try updating your BIOS).  I tried that through LiveUpdate, and it messed up somehow during the flash, so I tried to restore the original BIOS, but the system was very unstable after that.  I'm about to send my motherboard back for an exchange.  I just found out by reading some posts here that other people have been having the same problem with a similar RAM/video card setup.
Also, I'm having extreme difficulty installing Win2000.  It installed the first time on a test HDD, but on my new one (WD 80GB 7200RPM ATA100), it wouldn't go in at all.  ;( It went up to the final file copying part (after entering the serial number), and crashed.  It kept doing that, so I gave up and moved on to XP.  XP went in fine the first time, but it wouldn't reinstall after that, even with a reformatted drive.  Other people are having similar problems, and said that once they swapped out their RAM, their problems were gone.
I'm just looking for the fastest compatible 512MB DDR RAM available for the 648.  Thanks.

Heh, funny thing, I was messing around with some BIOS settings, and somehow got my computer to work this afternoon! 8o Reinstalled everything, and was having a good ol time!  :D
Then, and even funnier thing happened.  I went out this evening, and when I came back, the computer wouldn't work anymore!  X(  This thing is driving me nuts.  I'm definitely gonna pick up either the Corsair or Winbond memory ASAP.  Thanks for the replys everyone!
BTW, I've had the hard drive by itself with the jumperless setting from the beginning.  Also, it always wants to be the primary drive, even when it's set to slave and attached at the slave connector on the IDE cable. ?(  I know that isn't a problem right now cause I just have it by itself on the cable.

  • New Nvidia Driver ver 260 for Mac Mini 2010 and HDMI problems.

So this is the first release from Nvidia that is installable "out of the box" directly from Nvidia. Unfortunately, I'm now running into problems with getting the resolution to scale on my HDMI connected HDTV.
When I go into Nvidia properties and select "Adjust desktop size and position", I'm only give 4 options to change the scaling. Unlike the old Bootcamp version which had an option to manually adjust the screen by make the arrows fit on all sides, this new version has the options of:
When using a resolution lower than my displays native resolution...
    -Use NVIDIA scaling
-Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed aspect ratio
    -Use my display's built-in scaling
    -Do not scale
So when I set my display to 1176x664, The resolution changes, however, it still goes beyond the visible border. Changing any of the options above doesn't seem to change anything-
I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing these same issues, or knows how to remedy it?

I completely agree with your assessment for Problem #1, but here we have it.
I will try re-installing and will also double check with the drivers for the monitor. Thanks for the advice. If all else fails, I will just use parallels.

  • Satellite P750-05F reserved graphics memory and best nVidia driver

    I have recently purchased a P750-05F.
The systems specs under windows 7 say
8 gig ram installed. 6 gig available for system ram.
For the graphics GT540M it says 2 gig dedicated, 4 gig available.
Obviously 2 gig of system ram is reserved for the graphics. How can i undo this?
I think 2 gig dedicated is more than enough.
I want to release the reserved 2 gig system ram back to system ram.
I cannot find any bios or graphics driver options to do this ??
Also what is the best latest nvidia driver to use for best performace on this laptop ?
    Please help.

So if the GT540 is NOT using the reserved 2 gig, is is available for use by system ram if required.
Or is it locked off from system ram never ever to be used.
Seems like a waste if it is ?
So whats the story on that part ?
    thanks

  • Help for SIS 648 MAX-L Startup Problem

I just bought an MSI-648MAX-L, a 2.4GHz cpu and a Jaton GeForce4 TI4200 card. Installed all of the above + PC2700 512 MB RAM and a WD 80GB hard drive, floppy and CD. Turn on the power and my screen flickers all four of the diagnostic leds light up green and then nothing. I hear the hard drive spinning and the CPU fan and video card fan but nothing else. Tried one other AGP video card and a PCI video card but nothing on the screen. Seems like the BIOS is not loading. So I turn the computer off and set the BIOS reset jumper. Turn it back on again and still nothing. Checked all the connections, the seating of the CPU and tried again, still nothing. Any idea what might be wrong?? I hope I don't have to buy another MotherBoard and also I hate the idea of removing my CPU once installed. ;(
    Thanks for your help..
    Kumar.

What kind of video card is it?
If it's a radeon 9700 pro, look in one of the other threads  on this site to figure out what revision you have, rev 1.1 or 1.2 9700 pros will not work on some 648 max boards ( well for me it was 648 max L im not sure about the 648 max but im assuming it has the same problem.
What happens with radeon is since the mobo sets the agp automatically, and there is the 8x bug the system doesnt boot. But the card will work fine on machines that have 4x, In this case RMA the card to radeon and make sure to specifiy that you get a 1.3 rev.
Otherwise you stated you have tried other processors and memory that were "known" to be good.
DDR 400 or DDR 333 memory?

  • 648 max, Win98 NDIS.vdx driver prob?

Just installed Win98 on my new 648 Max.
It installed ok, but on statup it says error: NDIS problem
(forget the exact wording), you must restart computer.
I bypassed NDIS.vdx with safe mode step by step
start, and removed Dial up Network in control panel,
as seems this is what uses this driver.
It now boots up OK , but of course no dial up network!
I have the onboard LAN disabled.
    Any Ideas

It's probobly the same as this one.

    Hello,
I'm kind of a noob and am trying to get follow the directions from the Nvidia wiki on installing on a custom kernel.  I'm trying to use the abs method to install on kernel26rt version 2.6.33rt.  I followed directions exactly and am getting an error that I didn't find on any other posts.  Can you please take a look?  Here is my terminal:

  • Any new Nvidia driver for Macbook pro?

Hey, after I upgrade to new OSX 10.6.x, my software Houdini (www.sidefx.com) viewport flickers every frame. It used to work fine on 10.5.x.
I don't know it's the problem for OSX or Nvidia driver, at least, it worked fine on 10.5.x, so I think it is the new OSX bug.
I use Macbook pro, I tried both 9400m or 9600m can't work. Please fix this.
    Regards.

Ah, I see - Asking here is just asking other users - if you expected an answer/status directly from Apple here, that won't happen, sorry. Perhaps some users have heard on other forums in which case I'm sure you've already searched, etc. Good luck in any case.

There is a known major issue with Premiere Elements 10 on a computer that uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. The answer is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. You do not want an up to date driver in this case. For some computer operating systems like Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, this roll back fix is not possible because the video card/graphics card driver versions available do not go back far enough.
This matter has been written about extensively in this forum for over a year. And, there is an Announcement about this matter at the top of this forum.

According to what you wrote and assuming that your Windows XP is SP3 32 bit, your NVIDIA drivers page should look like this after you plug in your data.
And based on history, your choice in the above should be GeForce 320.18 Driver    320.18 May 23, 2013.

  • Latest Nvidia Driver for G560 does not install!

    Hi,
i've tried to install the latest nvidia driver for my G560. But it seems like the only driver working on this system is the preinstalled driver from Lenovo.
I always get the message that the driver can't find the required hardware. I've downloaded the correct (Win 7 64 Bit) and latest driver from Nvidias webpage. I've even tried some older drivers from the drivers archive.
Does anybody have a clue how I can solve my problem?
    Greetings Cpk83
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It does look like the correct driver. But I noticed this "Note: The following notebooks are not supported in this release: 1. Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power with Intel chipsets. 2. Fujitsu notebooks – support will be added in a later release. Fujitsu Siemens (FSC) notebooks are supported in this release. 3. Sony VAIO notebooks – support will be added in a later release. Sony VAIO Windows 7 users can click here for driver update support. 4. Any notebook that is launched after the release date of this driver. " Does anyone know if this laptop has Hybrid Power? Also here is a good tip/recommended from ATI. "Advisory: The display driver supplied by the laptop manufacturer is customized for the built-in flat panel display, and the graphics features and functions specific to the laptop. It is strongly recommended to use the supplied drivers. If installing a different operating system other than the one included with the laptop, the laptop may not meet all the requirements, and supported drivers may not be available. The laptop manufacturer is the exclusive provider of driver updates. If the required driver update is not available at the laptop manufacturers’ website, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer directly, to see if an updated driver will be made available in the future."

  • Nvidia 32-bit libraries for a new driver

I've been experiencing kernal panics when running x with Nvidia 185.18.14 so I decided to update to the new 185.18.36 driver from the nvidia website. Now however, I can't find 32 bit lib utils for this driver in the AUR. Can I find these items myself and package them or do I just need to play the waiting game until someone finishes them and puts them up. I.e. Is this something that is out there just waiting to be put up onto the AUR, or something that someone needs some serious knowhow to create for the AUR?

(I am not an expert on this, but this is what I noticed..... if you want the conclusion that I found about the 32-bit libs, that is more toward the bottom of this post)
I had been wondering about the official NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA site, and it's 32-bit libs for a while..... and this thread made me wonder about it some more, so I did a bit of investigating.
The first thing I did was to uninstall my nvidia-utils-beta package that I was using with the NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA site.
I did this because I had noticed that the Arch nvidia PKGBUILD downloads the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1**.**-pkg0.run and then runs "sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1**.**-pkg0.run --extract-only" to build/install the kernel module.
Then the nvidia-utils PKGBUILD does the same thing with the "sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1**.**-pkg0.run --extract-only" command, so it extracts everything else that is important from the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1**.**-pkg0 directory, and then the PKGBUILD places them in the correct directories with the correct symbolic links:
But if you use the latest version of "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.25-pkg0.run" (from here: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/190.25/ ), instead of using the Arch 'nvidia' and 'nvidia-utils' packages, then the "NVIDIA pkg0" will puts their libraries and symbolic links into the /usr/lib64 directory.
    /usr/lib64:
    libGL.la
    libGL.so
    libGL.so.1
    libGL.so.190.25
    libGLcore.so.1
    libGLcore.so.190.25
    libOSSlib.so
    libcuda.so
    libcuda.so.1
    libcuda.so.190.25
    libnvidia-cfg.so
    libnvidia-cfg.so.1
    libnvidia-cfg.so.190.25
    libnvidia-tls.so.1
    libnvidia-tls.so.190.25
    libvdpau.so
    libvdpau.so.1
    libvdpau.so.190.25
    libvdpau_nvidia.so
    libvdpau_nvidia.so.190.25
    libvdpau_trace.so
    libvdpau_trace.so.190.25
    tls
Then it puts all libXvMCNVIDIA into the /usr/lib directory same as Arch:
    libXvMCNVIDIA.a
    libXvMCNVIDIA.so.190.25
    libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so
    libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so.1
These are all put in the same place as the Arch packages:
    /usr/share/applications/nvidia-settings.desktop
    /usr/bin/nvidia-xconfig
    /usr/bin/nvidia-settings
    /usr/bin/nvidia-smi
    /usr/bin/nvidia-bug-report.sh
    /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so
    /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.190.25
The manual pages are also put into the same location as Arch's packages.
The last difference that I noticed is that the default Arch packages place everything that is found in here "/usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0 directory" in the these directories (I'm sure I missed something else):
    /usr/share/licenses/nvidia/LICENSE
    /usr/share/pixmaps/nvidia-settings.png
    /usr/share/doc/nvidia/README.txt
Now if you were to download the "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.25-pkg2.run" that includes the NVIDIA 32-bit libraries, this is where I noticed the problem is.
    See, when you run:
    sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.25-pkg2.run
..... it installs the /NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.25-pkg2/usr/lib32/*.so* files into the /usr/lib directory..... which is the wrong place..... it should be in the /opt/lib32/usr/lib directory.
So you could try this PKGBUILD that I just made..... I'm not sure if it will work, or if I did everything correct so USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!

    cd $pkgdir/opt/lib32/usr/lib/tls
    ln -sf libnvidia-tls.so.$pkgver libnvidia-tls.so.1
So to finish this up, you could just install this NVIDIA package from their server: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux … 5-pkg0.run
And then TRY my lib32-nvidia-utils-beta PKGBUILD. (if you feel it is correctly written and approved by someone else with a bit more experience with these things)

  • Can't find nvidia driver for my HP Pavilion dv6000

    Hello,
I just upgraded my laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Starter.
But i can't find a NVIDIA driver for it.
My laptop name is Pavilion DV6000 and i have a 32 BIT.
    Please can somebody help me?
    Vincent

    Hi @viniboy007
I understand that you  are looking for a driver for your notebook, and that you have upgraded to windows 7.
Please post the full product number for your notebook, so I can post a link to the supported drivers for your notebook.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
If there are not supported drivers for that product from HP, then it means the unit was never sold in that configuration. Then I would refer you to this page: What if I Don't See My Operating System?
The problem then is more about trying to find drivers that will work, that have not been customized by HP to work with the other components on the notebook.

  • Need driver for Nvidia Geforce Go 6150 for Windows 7

Hi, can anyone please tell me where I can download the driver for Nvidia Geforce Go 6150 for Windows 7. I have tried the drivers for Windows Vista but it does not work. Thanks in advance.

I followed this tutorial after installing Win7 on a friend's HP Pavilion tx1332LA (the tutorial is in Spanish):
    http://www.taringa.net/posts/ebooks-tutoriales/2570715/NVIDIA-nForce-Chipset-Driver-(windows-7-_-vista).html
And since the coprocessor was no longer listed as an unknown device (or something similar), I assumed everything worked correctly afterwards... is that alright or do I have to check in some other way?
Well, here is a part of what the tutorial says (what was enough for me):
-Should work for 32-bits and 64-bits versions (I installed it on Windows 7 x64).
-First of all, we see that in the Device Administrator, there is an unknown device, a coprocessor. That's because Windows 7 can't find its driver.
    -Download and install the following:
    NVIDIA nForce Chipset Driver
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39501-40000/sp39535.exe
and see if the coprocessor is recognized.
-If not, go to the Device Administrator and find the unrecognized coprocessor.
-Right-click on it and select Update driver...
-Select browse my computer -> let me pick -> have disk (this is what the tutorial says, it wasn't exactly the same for me, but I eventually got to pick a folder on my hard drive)
-Browse and select the following (assuming C represents the drive where everything from the file above got unpacked):
    C:\swsetup\SP39535\WinVista32\SMU\smuc.inf (for 32-bits version)
    C:\swsetup\SP39535\WinVista64\SMU\smuc64.inf (for 64-bits version)
Note: That is what the tutorial says, but I could only select the SMU folder and not a specific file. After selecting the SMU folder, a driver was automatically listed, I selected it and it got installed.
-Now, the coprocessor should be recognized (check the Device Manager).
    Hope it helps!
