NWDI And VC

Hi All,
I am currently working on CE7.1 .I have NWDI server installed on CE7.0.
I have configured my track for the composite applications and Visual composer.
I am able to see the Software component created under the shared repository of VC.
When i try to add the local models created to the DTR, i get an error saying " UNBLE TO RETRIEVE VENDOR LIST".
When i try to create a "NEW " model in the SC of my track,the "NEW" button to create a DC is grayed out.
Can any one help out in this issue..

Hi Divya,
As i understand there are 2 problems that you are facing
1. When i try to add the local models created to the DTR, i get an error saying " UNBLE TO RETRIEVE VENDOR LIST".
Reason: This is because the vendor details (like sap.com, wipro.com ...etc) are not available or are not taken care of while creating the local dc, Which is expected when you create a DC in DTR.
2. When i try to create a "NEW " model in the SC of my track,the "NEW" button to create a DC is grayed out.
Soln: I would suggest you to create a DC of type Visual Composer from Development Infrastructure perspective. And then create a model in that DC from the Visual Composer design time.

Question on NWDI and DC for web dynpro for ESS components

I am working on installing NWDI and mostly we will be working with ESS & MSS webdynpro customization for NW2004s.
I have a doubt, now for customizing the web dynpro components of ESS is it just enough to create the SC and track and once doing this will the developers get to the DC's of ESS?
Or initially do I have to download the editable part of the web dynpro components and deploy it in the server?
I am not sure how the web dynpro components are made available for the developers. Please help me understand.

Difference between NWDI and JDI

Hi to all,
Is there any one who can give me answer on next question.
1. What is difference between NWDI and JDI? I have got confused because I red tutorials how to configure NWDI and there are two roles that use the same UME Actions. JDI.Administrator and NWDI.Administrator that uses CBS.Administrator and CMS.Administrate actions. Is it the same? Is NWDI is the same as JDI but for NW2004s (NW7.00)?

NWDI is same as JDI but the version difference. If you just use NWDI.Administrator it should work fine.

CM Services stand alone (Unknown session NWDI and grey components in NWDS)

Hello.
We are trying to configure NWDI in portal 7.3 using the following document http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-14706 however when Im trying the syncrhonize step (page 22) it shows me an error HTTP 400 Unknown session wherever I click in the sync page.
I dont know if it's because of this missing step but when I import this in NWDS the dependencies are empty and when I try to create a develpment it shows me greyed components with the mistake ( Software component does not support this development component type. Required DCs are located in an SC that is not visible from the selected one.). If any more information needed please ask me.

Thank you !!! it seems that is solved now, it shows me some components good to go, eventhe less When I try to create a Wevdynpro it says "Support component (ACH) for vendor ''sap_com'' is required" Could it be because of some missing DC ?

What can be done?
Check in SLD if references from the developed SC to the found required SCs
exist. Create them if they are missing. . Update the corresponding track in CMS
by first syncing current dependencies from SLD to CMS ("Update CMS" in CMS UI
Landscape Configurator - Domain Data) and then adapting the track in "Track
Data" by using "Synchronize SC Dependencies" - "Show Software Components out of
sync with SLD", select all SCs shown as out of sync and press "Accept SLD
Definition" and then save the track. Switch to Transport Studio in CMS WebUI
and check in and import the corresponding SCA files. After that update the
development configuration in NWDS.

NWDI and JDK 1.5

Configuring NWDI and CMS

Hi,
We did a Development portal installation (DEV) with NMDI and finished the DI post installation in the DEV system and configured my SLD in solution manager. Now we are going to install Portal Quality system (QAD) with NWDI. I need some documents after installing QAD system, like DI post installation and CMS configuration from quality to development system. I mean to say that, DEV as a Domain controller and QAD to include in that CMS. Before doing the DI post installation in QAD, do I need to change the Domain data of change management in Quality like CMS name, CMS url, CMS user, password, trans dir, Domain ID(if so,Can we change this ID to DEV), DTR url, CBS url. If so, do I need to give the datau2019s of Development system? or how to configure my quality system CMS to development system CMS. I found some links but there is no link that says about the configuration in development.

While defining Software Component, I created a Build Time Dependency on these components and chosen SAP-JEE, SAP_BUILDT and SAP_JTECHS components.
While defining a Track under Domain in CMS (Landscape Configuration) i am not getting these dependent components under my SC.
So after adding SC to my track, i again Defined Dependencies on my SC. Now i can see these components under my SC but gives warning that "SC Dependencies are different but accepted by synchronization" and status of SC is yellow.
Please suggest.

NWDI and SLD

Hi,
Can we have a NWDI track created with systems and software components residing in another SLD.
(I mean NWDI server has its own SLD.But the track I would like to create on it and maintain has its systems and components on another sld.)
(so should the track creation require just a pointer(url) to the required sld each time or should it be its own sld allways)

You can specify external SLD in NWDI. It is not necessary to link with local SLD.
Log in NWDI CMS, choose u201CLandscape Configuratoru201D, "External Servers". SLD URL.

Help with NWDI and VC 7.10 Integration

Hi we have been following the guides for configuring NWDI with VC on this link

Our CE is 7.10 SP5 and NWDI is 7.00 SP 16.
SID CE : CED host:arrossap05 SysNr: 02
SID NWDI : ESN host:arrossap05 SysNr: 00
SLD is configured in ESN.
I will describe what we have been doing so you can have a good picture of what is done and where we have doubts.
1.Configuring the SDIC Service on CE
    sdic.default.devconfig to ESN_VISUAL_D
    sdic.sld.url to http://arrossap05:50000 ( we have tried /dtr too)
    sidc.state.store.active false
    sdic.state.store.J2EEEngineTXManager ( this parameter was not to be found)
2. Configuring the Repository Services Service
    automaticsync this is by default false, in the help says you should check it that it is true,
                           but in my case is not, so should I change or not? We have changed it to true.
    basic.authentication false
                          since we are USING SSO between CE and NWDI ( if this is not the correct aprroach,
                           please let me know).
   basic.authentication.password
                          default value, it states that this is the password of the sdic.nwdiservers.admin.user
                                              but nowhere does it say in the SDIC service that I should change this
                                              value.
   serviceuser
                        default value, it doesnt have a * so we leave it that way.Please informe if we have to
                        changed this
3. Configuring the Development Server Service
       ds.core.persistency.absoluteroot C:\DevelopmentServer\ ( We have another default value, should
                                                        we change to this path? Default value is
                                                        $/j2ee/temp/devserver/
       ds.env.nwdi.defaultpackageprefix The package prefix for the NWDI name server that was defined
                                                         during the DTR installation. This is related to the Track or the
                                                         whole DTR, where can I find this prefix.???
       ds.repository                               NWDI_RA
      ds.synchronizedRemoteDeployment this was defualt to false, we have changed it to true.
4. Track Build
      We go to Deploy and Change in NWDI ->Create and Application Skeleton ->
           There we set the track VISUAL as a VIsual Composite Application 7.10
      Then we load all SCA into the track to dev and cons.
Problem is when we try to add the VC model to the DTR, when we click save nothings happends.

NWDI and NWDS

Installation of NWDS & NWDI

I am looking at installing Netweaver Developer Studio. We presently
have some servers available where we are contemplating installation
1. A PI 7.1 EHP1 Server
2. A SAP Enterprise Portal 7.0
I have some questions regarding the installation
The Enterprise Portal 7.0 media has installation files for NWDI. Is it
possible to install NWDI in a the PI 7.1 EHP1 server using the portal
media. Would there be a incompatibility considering the fact that the
PI is on Netweaver 7.1 and Portal is on Netweaver 7
I read the installation guide for PI which states that PI should be a
separate system. Hence the question.
Can I install Netweaver 7.30 which includes NWDI in the portal server /
PI Server? Again would there be compatibility issues considering the
fact that one would be Netweaver 730 and the other in Netweaver 7 / 7.1
The PI Master Guide states "It is a prerequisite that no other system
in your system landscape has a higher release and enhancement package
level than the PI system" Hence the question

NWDI and CE

Hi,
It might be a stupid question but what is the difference between SAP CE and NWDI?
I have CE 7.1 Ehp1 and NWDS, is this enought to create NWDI?
I was reading about both solutions and NWDI has DTR, CBS, CMS and SLD but CE also has sth. like Initial setup of functional unit DI (all-in-one).
I understand that if I have CE 7.1, I don't need nothing else. What is the role of CE in NWDI?
But if I don't have it, what do I need to install?

Hi Pawel,
you are mixing up some words here. The answer is pretty simple if you know the SAP component model.
CE 7.1 is a SAP netweaver release (not a full one, but a partial relase) in the component model SAP CE 7.1x is a product.
A product can have one or several software units. In sapinst you will see them as usage typs. NWDI is such a usage type.
So you can decide to install NWDI as a useage typ on an Netweaver CE AS Java.
So if you want to install a NWDI on NW 7.11 CE. Check the AS Java and NWDI checkbox in the initial installation or you can add another usage typ on an existing as java with sapinst.
I would not reccomend to jsut install the 3 NWDI SCS on an existing AS Java via SDM (NW7.0) or deplyo controler on 7.11. You will get a lot of trouble with missing CTC Templates like setup sld and nwdi full.

Hi all,
I'm using NWDI to transport my GP process with the mail template attached. The first time I made it, it worked very well. Laterly, I've changed something into the mail template and I make the transport again. But obviously, the changes have not been apply !!!
Do you have a solution without delete the mail template into each system ?

Hi all,
I found out the solution.
It seams that the transport update the mail if and only if the whole process is newly released (and all the items into it).
So go to your process and select the editable mode for all the bloc, action, .... then select Activate the process, and do the transport process again.

Two NWDIs and want to migrate/move to one

Dear all,
We have two NWDIs in our landscape, one for Portal NW04 and another for NW04s.
How can we move the NW04 NWDI tracks to NW04s NWDI so that we have one central repository of our modifications.?
The two NWDI systems are on two physically separate systems.
Is there a way to export the track and import to another NWDI system?

Hi Rama, thanks for you help. I'm trying to use the CVS under the NWDS but I can't use the SYNCRONIZE. I receive the message like:
<b>Unable to Syncronize
An error has occurred processing file
Error fetching file revisions</b>
This problem occur when I'm working in a .JAVA in my desktop and another guy commit other version of the same class, and when I'll try to commit the same class I receive the error.

I have a separate box for NWDI installation.. with 16GB Ram and 4 processors.
I wanted to confirm if the SID of NWDI should be different as compared to my portal Dev/Qas/Prd ? and if any directory should be shared across them ?
ADS: Do we need to install ADS on AS Java based portal or it can be installed on AS Java based NWDI system described above.

Yes, you have to use different SID compared to portal Dev, QA and Prod.
ADS: Do we need to install ADS on AS Java based portal or it can be installed on AS Java based NWDI system described above.
It can be installed on either of the server for ABAP systems to use ADS

I´ve read and done the following Tutorial
and now I have a few questions:
1)Every time when I want to create a new SC, do I need to create a new Product too?
2)Is it possible to create one Product with 3 Web Dynpro SCs (i.e. SC_A, SC_B and SC_C), where SC_A is using SC_B and SC_C; and SC_B is using SC_C?
I thought, that its the best way to create the Product in one track.

thank you for quick reply. I´ve read some topics about similar questions and many people also mention, that one should use SCs sparingly, because CBS only builds and CMS only deploys DCs that are updated.
In help.sap.com, I´ve read that SCs are helpful to group DCs with similar functionality together.
In return to my problem, the functionality of SC_A and SC_B is within one Business Object, so I can merge them into one SC. The functionality of SC_C is more common even for future developments.SC_C Is more like a framework of functionalities, in which things like value helps and so on are grouped into DCs.
So do you think, that I should reduce the amount of SCs from three to two?
