OBIA -'Financials_Oracle R12'

After installation of OBIA we are trying to run out of box 'Financials_Oracle R12' execution plan. And it failed right at the start with following error.
Error while loading nodes.
ERROR: Circular Dependency detected. Check server log for details.
'TASK_GROUP_Load_PartyDimension' Has circular dependency with 'SIL_PositionDimensionHierarchy_Softdelete'
'TASK_GROUP_Load_PartyDimension' Has circular dependency with 'SIL_PositionDimensionHierarchy_Type1Update'
ABORTING BECAUSE OF CIRCULAR DEPENDENCIES.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
Please note we were able to execute "Procurement and Spend: Oracle R12".

Hi Naeem,
For me, the only way to sizing OBIA with your requirements is to do a sizing review with Oracle. They analyze your requirement, preconize architecture and do an estimation of the size of your database.
Oracle provide minimum requirement for hardware with the installation of OBIA but it is only pre-requisite (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35287_01/bia.7964/e22970.pdf).
With your suggestions, I have some questions :
- Why there are 2 Informatica / DAC server ?
- For me, your Database configuration is under-estimate compared your OBIEE server.
The minimum prerequisite is :
- Oracle Business Analytics Warehouse :
CPU:2 GHz or better, 8 CPU cores minimum - RAM:8 GB
- ETL Server (Oracle Business Intelligence DataWarehouse Administration Console Server and Informatica PowerCenter Services) :
CPU:2 GHz or better, 4 CPU cores minimum - RAM:8 GB - Storage Space:100 GB free space

Financial Analytics on Vision Demo Database(EBS)

Hi,
We are trying to configure Financial Analytics and view Dashboards for the same.
We have EBS 12 with vision database and created a Demo on the same without following Configuration steps, only by giving the credentials for OLAP and OLTP data sources in DAC and OBI. After which we were able to view some portion of Payables and Receivables. I have 2 questions
1. The measures for GL and Profitability dashboard are null. When I checked the RPD there were conditions for the columns like
FILTER(Core."Fact - Fins - GL Balance"."Activity Global1 Amount" USING Core."Dim - GL Account"."Group Account Number" = 'ACC DEPCN')
and for the same when I checked the physical table in OLAP it has only "Others" and when we checked the mappings and identified the source table in Oracle Apps we could not view any data.
The Question is Do we have any data in vision demo database to configure GL.
2. When we ran the execution plan Financials_Oracle R12 through DAC, all the mappings were successful but now when we run a mapping through Informatica it is throwing an error :
*Cannot find specified parameter file [E:\Informatica\PowerCenter8.1.1\server\infa_shared\SrcFiles\SILOS.SIL_AgreeFact.txt] for [session [SIL_AgreeFact.SIL_AgreeFact]].*
How can we resolve this issue as we know that these parameter files are provided in installation and we copied the same in Informatica folder.

Devesh,
The location of Parameter Files generated by DAC is defined by InformaticaParameterFileLocation parameter in Setup section in DAC itself.
Copying the source files into Infa_shared is one of the configuration steps and is needed. The thing is that you copy the source files for your mappings (like base for your fiscal calendar, etc.) and not the parameter files for your Workflow Sessions.
So we have 3 different folders here:
1. DAC default parameter folder (when DAC will create the parameter files automatically)
2. Source files for mappings (location configured in Infa)
3. Parameter files for Workflow Sessions run through Informatica (configured in each Workflow Session).
In theory if you run your Workflows only using DAC, you will not be interested in the third folder since it is not going to be used.
If you use Workflow manager, you should place your parameter files in the 3rd folder (\server\infa_shared\SrcFiles by default).
You can also rename parameter files through Workflow Session properties.

AP Subject Area ETL from Vision creates 500,000,000 rows?

I'm installing OBIA againt R12 Vision for demos and testing, starting with Vision. The load crashes with out of tablespace errors due to the large number of Product dimension rows. Anyone run across this before?

Me too - 796 with EBS 11.5.10.2 Vision. It is chaotic. Recently I ran the load, hit the problem, I aborted after 5 hours watching it struggle to load, started again, I had made absolutely no changes, none, not to the configuration, not to the parameters, there are no users on the source system so the source data is identical, but this time it loaded products in 2 minutes with 8 thousand rows!
The issue is with workflow SDE_ORA_ProductDimension wich calls 3 workflow sessions SDE_ORA_ProductDimension_Derive then SDE_ORA_Product_Categories_Resolve then SDE_ORA_ProductDimension. I checked the log for SDE_ORA_ProductDimension_Derive to see that after a truncate the mapplet mplt_BC_ORA_ProductDimension.SQ_BCI_PRODUCTS loaded as expected 1895 rows into W_ORA_PRODUCT_DS_TMP from MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B and MTL_PARAMETERS. After that something goes "pear shaped" because SDE_ORA_ProductDimension ends up trying to load 70 million rows ?

How to clear out failed Execution Plans?

Hi everyone,
This should be an easy thing but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
I created a custom execution plan and added every Financial Subject Area into the plan. Then I generated the parameters, clicked build and then ran it. The run failed.
I noticed that there was a pre-configured execution plan with "Financials_Oracle R12" and decided that what I really wanted to run was Financials_Oracle R12 and not my custom plan. So I clicked build for Financials_Oracle R12 execution plan and once that finished, I clicked "Run Now". Upon clicking run now it told me that my custom execution plan had finished with a failed status and until it completed successfully, no other plans could be ran. I really don't want my custom plan to complete successfully. I want to run the other plan instead.
How do I delete/clear out my failed run data so I can start a new execution plan?

In DAC under the EXECUTE window do the following:
- Navigate to the 'Current Run' tab.
- Highlight the failed execution plan.
- Right click and seleted 'Mark as completed.'
- Enter the numbers/text in the box.
Then:
- In the top toolbar select Tools --> ETL Management --> Reset Data Sources
- Enter the numbers/text in the boox.
Now you're ready to start the new execution plan.

Steps to upgrade OBIA source EBS 11 to R12

Hi,
We have a specific requirement that our EBS source got upgraded from 11.5.10 to R12.
Earlier OBIA Financial,HR Analytics is running successfully. Now we need to map it to R12 source.
Can any one had done this already please suggest required steps.
In my openion changing folders in DAC to point to R12 adaptors and changing files with latest R12 data would work.
Fyi..We haven't done any customizations in the OOB adaptor.

You will need to install 11.2.0.4 into a new ORACLE_HOME, apply the latest 11.2.0.4 PSU patch to the new ORACLE_HOME (see MOS Doc 1454618.1) and then follow the steps in the Upgrade Guide

OBIA 7.9.6.3 security integration with EBS R12.1.2

We are implementing OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 with EBS R12.1.2 as source.We need to integrate Active Directory with OBIEE and implement security of BI Apps with EBS R12.1.2. Need help on this.
How to map EBS Responsibilities into Application Role and Groups? Whether we need to create one Application Role and Group for each responsibility ? Then provide permissions in rpd for each of them? The user should have similar permission in BI as they have in EBS - like people can see only US Finance data in EBS should see only US Finance data in BI also.

How to install & configure OBIA with Informatica & DAC in oracle R12.

I have OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on windows and oracle EBS R12.1.1 on server, and i have to install OBIA 7.9.6.3, Informatica 9.0.1 Hotfix 2 and DAC 10.1.3.4.1 on windows, and i don't know how to interconnect with each other.
So could anyone has the step by step installation & Configuration process then please guide me.

Are you referring to the EBS functional modules? BI Apps has a numbe of product families (Financial Analytics, HR Analytics, CRM Analytics..etc) that can source from EBS as well as other ERP systems (PeopleSoft, Siebel, JDEdwards..etc). If you are looking for the functional areas, I would suggest asking your Oracle rep for the "Product Guides" for the package you need (e.g Financial Analytics, HR Analytics..etc). Also there is a "Content Guide" you can find on metalink that lists the OOTB reports, dashboards, and Metadata content (RPD attributes).

R12 OBIA/OBIEE - what to install / what path?

I've been a DBA for a whild but new to EBS and OBIEE. I have read about and want to install the embedded OBIEE/OBIA that comes with R12. I've gotten confused and/or maybe misinformed with all of the forums and blogs as to which are the embedded OBIA vs which are a seperate OBIEE install. I want to take adavantage of the pre-defined reports etc.
First what reports are provided with what comes in R12? What do I gain from the seperate OBIEE install. Is there anything that has a comparision grid for these two items?
Second, I have R12 EBS installed... what do I need to do to set up the one that comes with R12 rather than the seperate install (any software downloads etc) ? We are on R12.1.3 and Oracle Database is 11gr1. We are on Oracle Enterprise Linux.

I have installed OBIEE on Oracle Application Server once. I downloaded Oracle Application SOA Suite 10.1.3.x, I did an Advanced Install and selected then I choose for the option J2EE Server + Web server, so without the SOA Suite component. Then you can install OBIEE on top of it by doing an Advanced OBIEE install.

Data Source number for EBS R12.1.2 (OBIA 7.9.6.2)

When using R7.9.6.2 with EBS R12.1.12 what should be the data source number?
ORA_R1211 is 26 in the 7.9.6.1 docs, the same are packaged with 7.9.6.2 docs too?
What should be used with ORA_R1212?

I verified this was a big in 7.9.6.2 docs and Oracle recommends use of 27 for R12.1.2
using a standard (or Oracle recommended) data source number eliminates issues when you combined data from multiple EBS instances with different releases.

If you do the install from the sofware lsited (btw I would challenge the choice of the SEA vs the SIA) , you will face an issue for your project as you will end up with an empty database and you will not be able to extract any data for dashboards.
Check the licence agreement on the virtual machine available with SIebel preinstalled as you might use them to save on the effort of install and also get some sample data to play with.

Am planning to install intially oracle EBS R12 in windows web server 2008 R2.
Is this OS supported by oracle? Did anybody already done this ?
also later am planning to install OBIA + OBIEE stack on this. will all these
supported on windows web server 2008 R2?
Please provide your suggestions.
