OBIEE 11g on AIX 32 bit

I have to start with installation of OBIEE 11g on a AIX server can some one tell me the best and the tested links for the same.
I have gone through the installation guide by Oracle and have few queries
1. RCU for Unix is also a userinterface or these are specific set of commands
2. For UNIX systems , does it always have to be a software installation type and for this Do I have do install weblogic diffrently and configure it differently
Any material with commands and screenshotss will be helpfull

Hi,
I am assuming that you are going for 11.1.1.5,
1. RCU for Unix is also a userinterface or these are specific set of commandsRCU is available on 32- and 64-bit Linux and Windows operating systems. Either theLinux RCU or Windows RCU can be used to create schemas on any supported
database.The sole purpose is to create the required schemas , details of which will be entered during the software installation.
2. For UNIX systems , does it always have to be a software installation type and for this Do I have do install weblogic diffrently and configure it differentlyNo. You can go for other installation types too, depending on your requirement.

  • Removing Admin Server in OBIEE 11g on AIX 6.1

    Hello all,
    1. We had installed OBIEE 11g software only install and configured a instance which we had to uninstall later on. We had followed the steps provided by oracle for uninstallation of instance - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/bi.1111/e10539/c6_deinstall.htm#CIHIDHEB
    2. We had also deleted the contents in bifoundation_domain.
    3. Then we had deleted Managed server entry from console.
    4. Then we executed config.sh for another instance and the port allocated to the new console is 7002, with a new set of Admin and Managed server.
    Kindly suggest a way to delete AdminServer of the first instance, where console is using port number 7001.

    Before going to install obiee11g,
    just clean all existing obiee11g install registry, RCU Schema(DEV_BIPLATDFROM/DEV_MDS),
    physical folders,
    temp/tmp and services.msc (admin server/bi_server, OPMN/node manager -->delete services) , ODBC - obiee11g existing connection remove it via registry then reboot u r pc and then start install ...

  • Unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE 11G(on 64 bit Linux box)

    We are unable to connect to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE 11G which is on 64 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
    Infrastructure: OBIEE 11.1.1.5 64bit, on 64 bit Red Hat Linux Enterprise Linux 5.6 , MS SQL Server 2008 on 64 bit Microsoft Windows Server
    Issue Description: Unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE11G RPD
    Details: We are unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE which is on a 64 bit Linux box. We created the ODBC connection on Linux box to the SQL server. Whenever we try to import metadata it throws an error that says ‘Connection Failed’.
    Here are the steps we followed to setup the ODBC connection on Linux box.
    1) We updated the user.sh file with the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64 values that point to $ORACLE_HOME/bifoundation/odbc/lib
    This is where we found the driver for SQL server SEmsss23.so.
    2) We updated the odbc.ini file with the entry for SQL server with the connection details
    SI_SQL_Server_DEV = SQL Server
    [SI_SQL_Server_DEV]
    Driver=/u001_OAS/Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_BI1/bifoundation/odbc/lib/SEmsss23.so
    Description=DataDirect 5.1 SQL Server Wire Protocol
    Address=10.230.216.52,54970
    AlternateServers=
    AnsiNPW=Yes
    ConnectionRetryCount=0
    ConnectionRetryDelay=3
    Database=SVBDW_NEW
    LoadBalancing=0
    LogonID=SIDatavalidation
    Password=~~~Password123
    QuoteID=No
    ReportCodePageConversionErrors=0
    3) We updated the IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR with single quotes instead of double quotes in the DB features of the RPD
    4) We updated the bash_profile file to point the ODBCINI variable to the path where the OBIEE odbc.ini file is present.
    Export ODBCINI=/u001_OAS/Oracle/Middleware/instances/instance1/bifoundation/OracleBIApplication/coreapplication/setup/odbc.ini
    The error in nqsserver.log file says “[nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: IM002 code: 0 message: [DataDirect][ODBC lib] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.”

    Hi,
    Make sure SQL Configuration Manager make sure the TCP/IP enabled. please try below method
    Method 1
    Re Create a new ODBC & Oracle Bi Server DSN Configuration test it and use it in the connection pools.
    define your ODBC data source in your server where the BI Server is installed. Check your DB connections in your physical layer and make they are defined on your BI Server as well.
    Method 2:
    try using the complete TNS in below format in the datasource name section:
    (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST =DB IP)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL) ) and provide the credentials.
    Method 3:
    To use the OCI call interface you need to have oracle client DB to be installed so that you can establish a connection using that DB credentials and connect to the remote dB and then import the tables.....this is the rule of thumb.
    hope helps you.
    Thanks

  • OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 64 bit - Error while configuring????

    Hi Experts,
    I am installing OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 64 bit. And I followed below steps:
    1. Installed JDK 64 bit.
    2. Installed Weblogic Server with 64 bit JDK.
    3. Installed OBIEE 11g - Software only Installation.
    4. Ran configuration script. cofig.bat.
    5. Configuration Wizard opened and during the configuration process(step 10 of 11) got an error. Refer below screen shot for the error.
    6. I got the same error when I tried installing 11g on Win server 2003 32 bit and I installed JRocket MissionControl and reinstalled 11g and there are no errors.
    7. So, remembering that I installed JRocket Mission Control 64 bit.
    8. Un installed previous 11g.
    9. Reinstalled 11g on Windows 7 64 bit.
    10 And coming to configuration part it gave same error. Don't know what to do.............can any one help me at this point.

    Hi All,
    I've got the same error but with the installation of OBIEE 11g on Windows 32-bit.
    I also tried to continue the installation, but I've got another error in the Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obisch1.
    Even with those errors, I finished the installation but of course I've some problem with the presentation server and webLogic, becasue they're not configured properly.
    Any idea how to solve the problem?
    Thanks

  • OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 (64 bit)

    Experts,
    I tried installing OBIEE 11.1.1.5 (both Simple and Software only install) mutiple times on my Laptop running Win 7 (64 bit), but all the times the installation hangs at "Creating domain", the first configuration step. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, I did all the pre-installation steps before running the setup.exe. Does anyone installed OBIEE 11g on Win 7 (64 bit). If yes, please suggest what other things I need to do for a successful installation
    Regards,
    Sarvan

    Hi
    Even though officially this is not supported on Windows 7 OS, still we should be able to install it without any issues. I installed OBIEE 11g simple edition on Windows 7, 64 Bit OS and everything is working fine. Infact I used Oracle Express Database Edition 10g instead of full blown Oracle 11g database. I used this to run RCU to create 2 obiee schemas. It did took lot of time though on windows like around 50 minutes for the full installation which installed weblogic, obiee on top of this, then create a default domain named bifoundation. I could create some test reports, dashboards etc.
    Here is another link that is also successfull in installing OBIEE 11g on Windows 7, 64 bit:
    http://123obi.com/2011/05/obiee-11g-11-1-1-5-0-installation-on-windows-7/
    I did not do anything special.
    1. Download all the installers, RCU etc.
    2. First in my Oracle 10g express edition, run RCU and create 2 schemas for OBIEE.
    3. Run obiee installer and wait for about an hour. It came out successfully. Started the domain, started OPMN Services, started a browser with one url.
    4. One thing is. I first installed Java/JDK 64 Bit version and put this in the PATH variable. So when I run java -version, it showed me this 64bit JDK. BUT even though I did this, internally the obiee domain still used its own JDK. I checked this in the startup script file named "StartStopServices.cmd" having one property like this:
    JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware115BI\Oracle_BI1\jdk
    And also under the domain root folder like bifoundation_domain/bin/setDomainEnv.cmd, I could see JAVA_HOME using the same above location.
    Thanks

  • Starting OBIEE 11g on Linux 64 bit

    Hi,
    I installed OBIEE 11g on Linux 64 bit and it worked fine after installation. I rebooted the system and I need to start it again.
    I am trying to run
    run-sa.sh
    run-saw.sh
    etc.
    but it looks like the scripts are broken:
    ./run-saw.sh: line 43: syntax error near unexpected token `('
    ./run-saw.sh: line 43: `ANA_INSTALL_DIR=$N($P(installLocation))'
    it looks like these scripts were not processed by the installer during installation, $N($P(installLocation)) should have been replaced by the installer with actual paths I assume.
    is there another way to start OBIEE?
    Thanks,
    Calin

    Are you sure you are running OBIEE 11g? YOu are meant to use those scripts any more in 11g. See this post:

  • Problems installing OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit

    Hi, I'm trying to install OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit (standard edition, SP2), and it's blowing up running the installer. The installer gets past the first couple of "info" screens, but blows up prior to coming to the first "real" screen with an error:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Assertion Failed:
    Program: ...
    File: ../../../src/share/native/sun/font/t2k/t2kstrm.c
    Line: 132
    Expression: pos <= t->maxPos
    Has anyone seen this and/or have an idea how to work around this? Note that I did do the prerequisite download / install of the 2005 Visual C++ 64 bit libraries.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Just to close the loop on this thread, this does indeed seem to be some sort of font / java issue on our servers. I've been completely unable to get the install to work using the GUI. However, if I run it from command line using the -silent and -response paramaters along with a proper response file, the install went perfectly. I'm going to continue working the SR with Oracle - don't want to be stuck using -silent mode when things get more complicated, but at least now I can move forward.
    If anyone else has a better workaround - please let me know. "Silent" mode is workable, but difficult and time consuming.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi,
    I hope you are talking about windows server 2008 not windows 8.
    Yes , but not all feature are supported. we tried enterprise install and did work but client tools are not supported by Oracle.

  • OBIEE 11G 64-Bit Windows LDAP Admin Server Startup Issue

    All,
    I have OBIEE 11G installed on 64-bit Windows, and can see all my LDAP users inside Admin Console just fine. When I reorder my LDAP above the DefaultAuthenticator, and make them both 'SUFFICIENT', my Admin Server no longer starts. It hangs on a line in the AdminServer.log that roughly says '<Security initializing using security realm myrealm.>'. Has anyone ran into this? If so, how do you get the Admin Server to start with a non default LDAP authenticator? I've tried re-ordering numerous ways with the DefaultIdentityAsserter in the middle and at the bottom; I've also tried switching the Control Flags on both with REQUIRED and OPTIONAL, all to no avail. Finally, I tried deleting out the DefaultAuthenticator all together, and it still won't start. At this point, I'm assuming this is another 64-bit issue that was not tested properly. Any thoughts/help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Josh

    Paul,
    Unfortunately that made no difference. I have pasted in the startup log below. Perhaps someone has some insight into what's happening?

  • Windows 64-bit + OBIEE 11g + Internet Explorer 10

    Not a question this time, just an observation about the interaction between OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 and IE 10 on 64-bit Windows.
    After installing OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 on 64-bit Windows, the Analytics environment worked fine in IE 10. When starting BI Services from the Start menu everything was fine.
    Prior to installing any patch sets, I installed the two Windows Services (Admin Server, Managed Server). At that point, the Analytics environment on Internet Explorer 10 would not work properly (Firefox was fine).
    - The login screen has the User and Password fields all the way on the left of the screen, but I am able to log in to analytics.
    - Clicking New...Analysis does nothing. No subject area list, no blank field where a list should be, just nothing. It's like clicking on air.
    - Selecting Administration ... Manage Privileges takes me to the correct screen, but there is no scroll bar on the right side.
    I accessed Programs and Features ... Installed Updates, and Uninstalled Windows Internet Explorer 10. This rolls IE back to IE 9.
    After restarting the machine, Analytics 11.1.1.6.0 works just fine in IE9.
    After installing the 11.1.1.6.9 patchset, Analytics still works just fine in IE9. After reinstalling IE10, Analytics is back to its same broken state.
    Takeaway: Don't use IE10 with OBIEE 11g (at least through the 11.1.1.6.9 patchset) on 64-bit Windows.

    Yup, same here using OBIEE 11.1.6.6 on Windows 7 64bit with IE 10. I do get the scrollbar in 'Manage privileges', however as a trade off my catalog will not load: the left tree only shows 'Shared Folders', the main screen does not load any of the content (just and endless loading animation), and both the 'open' and 'favorits' drop down menu remain empty.

  • Installing OBIEE 11g on OEL 5u5 64 bit : invalid entry CRC

    I am trying to install OBIEE 111130 64 on a Virtual Box with OEL 5 update 5 64 bit but I cannot get past an "invalid entry CRC" error.
    I managed to get the RCU running. I managed to get the Weblogic running as a separate install using the Sun JDK 64 bit. But the OBIEE Software Only install keeps running in the "invalid entry CRC" error (as does any other type of install available).
    I tried downloads from OTN and eDelivery, but both sites seem to give me faulty downloads that fail with this error (though cksum says all is well).
    I tried default unarchive tool in OEL5 as well as the Oracle 'recommended' tool from eDelivery to see if that made any difference but that did not help.
    I tried unarchive tool as well as Stuffit on Apple host but that also did not make any difference.
    Has anyone ever had this problem and found a (repeatable) solution, or does really know how to get past this ?
    Has anyone ever installed OBIEE 111130 64 on OEL 5u5 64 bit, by the way ? Does Oracle support it (I could not find a clear answer).

    Well, I found the solution.
    First of all : download from eDelivery using a cable connection (and not a wireless connection) for optimal stability of your download.
    Then : run the MD5 and SHA-1 checks to see if you really got what you wanted.
    Then, in Virtualbox for the Oracle Enterprise Linux 5u5 64bit guest OS : set its memory to 2Gb MAX !!!
    I noticed that I kept running into memory allocation problems (no more CRC's now, hurray!) that said that the host was out of memory. That surprised me because I have 8Gb onboard and the Virtualbox was set to use only 3584MB (also strange, Virtualbox does not allow for more ...). But that was too much apparently because ALL my memory was consumed somehow.
    Then start your Virtualbox not via the window application but by using the following commandline:
    Virtualbox -startvm <yourboxname>
    This way you get messages on the commandline you would otherwise not see.
    By the way, I run Virtualbox on a Mac Book Pro with 8 Gb or RAM.
    And then in your Virtual machine unpack your freshly downloaded zips using one of the unzippers 'recommended' by Oracle (see the last lines of the eDelivery page).
    After setting all this the Software Only installation of OBIEE 11g went well, but ... I had to run the installer with an extra parameter that I only discovered after studying the .sh script:
    *./runInStaller -jreloc <java-64bit-home-dir>*
    This -jreloc parameter points to the home directory where I installed (as root) my Sun Java 64bit JDK. In this way I ensured that my installation process uses the proper JVM.
    The parameter is not documented (as far as I can see) but can be found in the runInstaller script. So I tried it and it worked like a charm.
    When I did some more investigation I found out that Virtualbox (as well as VMWare Fusion) on the Mac are 32bit applications that might run 64bit guests, but always with restrictions somewhere as is seems. Now VMWare Fusion allows for more than 3.5Gb of memory to allocate to a VM, but I have not tried that yet (but I will soon).
    Nevertheless, be it the Mac that messes up memory allocation to a 32bit app or be it Virtualbox that messes with memory, the lesson learned is to be cautious with large amounts of memory in Virtualbox. At least I can continue installing OBIEE 11g and make my customer happy.
    Zoef zoef.

  • Fail installing OBIEE 11g on Oracle Linux 5 64 bits

    Hello,
    I am trying to install OBIEE 11g over Oracle Linux 5 (64 bits), but I can't. I have the following issue:
    INST-07008: Validation of Oracle Home location failed. User does not have permission to create home/instance location
    INST-07282: Specified Middleware home location does not exist
    In the Oracle Middleware Home, I have specified "/root/Oracle/Middleware".
    I have following these steps:
    1) Install Oracle DB 11g R2 (OK)
    2) Install jdk for Linux 64 bits (OK)
    3) Install weblogic
    I have done the installation as "root" user
    Middleware Home Directory = /root/oracle/Middleware (OK)
    4) Install RCU as root (OK)
    5) Install OBI 11g
    To execute ./runInstaller it is necessary be as oracle user.
    I have changed permissions in /root/Oracle/Middleware (chmod 777), but the issue is the same.
    I appreciate any idea to solve the issue.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Monica.

    Hello,
    no, I have installed OBIEE as oracle user with software only option, with root isn't possible.
    So, I don't know if it is necessary I installed WebLogic as oracle user to have permission in middleware path...
    Regards.
