OC4J 10.1.3 - JRockit supported configuration?

(this is a double post also in the Jrockit-forum. I was not really sure where to place it)
Hey there,
I could not find a list of supported configurations for OC4J in combination with JRockit. Is that somewhere availble?
More in particular: When using JRockit with Oracle AS/OC4J v10.1.3.3 -> is this officially supported ?

\thomas

Thomas,
Please, check the document :
- Upgrading to JRockit JDK 6 on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) (Doc ID 818556.1)
If you still need it.

    See the certification matrix here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/oracle_soa_certification_101310.html
    To summarize, it looks like 10.1.3.4 is supported with JRockit on most platforms.
    Support for older versions of OC4J is more limited since these predate the BEA acquisition, but it was supported on some Linux platforms and on Linux/Windows Itanium. Here is one example:

  • Does OC4J 9.0.4 standalone support HTTP clustering?

    Does OC4J 9.0.4 standalone support HTTP clustering? If so, could someone point me to the correct documentation for setting this up?

    Yes the container supports it. You need to configure it manually using the XML files. The Oc4J Users Guide should document it for you. There's no load balancer capability so you need to use some 3rd party solution such as Web cache, Distributor, etc.
    I can't get to the doc site right now so I can't give you the full URL to it. But have a hunt around and you should be able to find it.

  • Hostapd rt2800pci «Hardware does not support configured mode»

    Hello
    I am trying to use my fit-pc as a wifi access point. Here is wat lspci says about my wireless card:
    lspci |grep Wireless
    03:00.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT3090 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe
    It seems to be possible through with the mac80211 driver ( http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/rt2800pci )
    In my hostapd.conf tell hostapd.conf to use nl80211.
    Still when I do : #hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf
    I've got this message :
    "Configuration file: /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf
    Hardware does not support configured mode
    wlan0: IEEE 802.11 Hardware does not support configured mode (2)

    wlan0: Unable to setup interface.
    rmdir[ctrl_interface]: No such file or directory
    zsh: exit 1     hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf
    Someone know if there is a particual configuration to use rt2800pci?

    I had learned that the free DVD sets that Oracle ships are always for 64-bit systems. Owners of 32-bit systems will have to either download from http://edelivery.oracle.com or copy a distribution DVD from a friend. The 32-bit media can also be ordered from the http://oraclestore.oracle.com site for about $20USD.
    Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

  • Does JRockit support the volatile keyword?

    Does JRockit support the volatile keyword? If yes, since what version of JRockit is it supported? Will it also be supported on JRockit for Linux.

    A M wrote:

    the Linux builds of JRockit.
    However, the actual behaviour of "volatile" hasn't been that well
    defined until Java 5.0, so our interpretation of what volatile should
    mean may or may not have been consistent with SUN's interpretation of
    what volatile should mean.
    Have you been having problems with using volatile? What are you using
    it for in that case? Since volatile might not do what you think it
    does, using locking could be better...

  • Supported Configurations for VDI 3.1

    I have a question about the supported configurations for VDI 3.1.
    We have a small office where we would have only about 12-15 desktops and would be using the VirtualBox virtualization platform with VDI. The standard vbox configuration recommends 4-5 servers depending on whether you have one of the VirtualBox hosts sharing a machine with the primary VDI node or not. The only other supported configuration is a single host configuration where everything resides on one physical host (and thus one big single point of failure).
    My question is can you have a modified version of the single-host configuration for small office environments? For example, I have two X4240 servers with 4x 136GB hard drives each. I know the VDI hosts need to be on three different hosts to satisfy the MySQL clustering configuration. So can I have something like the following on only three boxes?
    [Sun VDI Primary] on a small (Dual Core CPU, 2 or 4GB RAM) X86 server
    [Sun VDI Secondary + Virtual Box desktop services + Storage services] on X4240 (2x Quad Core CPU, 16GB RAM)
    [Sun VDI Secondary + Virtual Box desktop services + Storage services] on X4240 (2x Quad Core CPU, 16GB RAM)
    I'm just trying to design a configuration for a small office environment that uses the fewest servers but at the same time is not one big single point of failure as would be the case with a single host configuration.
    Any suggestions would be welcomed...
    Thanks in advance,
    -Ken

    Just simply load balancing? Or something more?I often encounter potential customers who'd be interested to buy Sun VDI but they shy away from such thoughts because they realise that the VMware ESX license costs they would have to spend money for will be killing them financially. And they don't see VirtualBox as a "good enough" alternative: It's a "toy", it can't do live migration (e.g. with VMware if they wanted that feature one day they could simply license it and "unlock" it), it's not a bare metal hypervisor ....
    So now I could at least counter the point about VirtualBox not being able to do live migrations because now it can do that and there are no additional licenses to pay and no features to unlock. The feature is there from start. So that's good.
    But the other issues remain: it's not "bare metal". It would have been nice to have some sort of true "VirtualBox Server" or "VirtualBox for VDI -- Bare Metal Edition". Sun had such a product in the pipelines: "Sun xVM Server" ... but this product was killed after EA #2. Silly move, IMHO. It would have been wiser to finish this product and then have Sun VDI support it as virtualisation backend as well.
    Talking of which: Any chance that Sun VDI might one day support the various XEN-based products that exist? If I am not mistaken Sun's "xVM" hypervisor in Solaris/OpenSolaris is in principle just another XEN implementation too. And then there is "Oracle VM" .... so in light of the merger with Oracle I'd say it would make sense if Solaris xVM and Oracle VM/Xen were supported as well. I find it odd that XEN-based products which are widely used in certain circles (e.g. Universities) are being omitted but that there is support for Microsoft Hyper-V which is so brand new and still so lacking in the features department that it is hardly used by anyone except by some paid "early adopters" ...

  • Does OC4J's built-in JMS support transactions?

    I am using Oracle App Server 10.1.3.4 and OC4J 10.1.3.4, with the built-in OC4J JMS implementation. I have created a simple MDB that receives messages in the onMessage() method, and rolls back the transaction by throwing a runtime exception. (I have also tried rolling back the transaction by calling messageDrivenContext.setRollbackOnly().) In either case, the result is the same. The message is basically lost and never redelivered. If the transaction is rolled back, shouldn't the message be added back to the queue for redelivery? I have waited several minutes, and no redelivery ever occurs.
    My code looks something like this:
    @MessageDriven(activationConfig = {
              @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "ConnectionFactoryJndiName",
                        propertyValue = "jms/QueueConnectionFactory"),
              @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "DestinationName", propertyValue = "jms/MyQueue"),
              @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "DestinationType", propertyValue = "javax.jms.Queue"),
              @ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "ReceiverThreads", propertyValue = "5")
    @TransactionManagement(TransactionManagementType.CONTAINER)
    @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)
    public class BidOptimizeMDB implements MessageListener {
         public final void onMessage(final Message msg) {
              throw new EJBException();
    In jms.xml:
    <queue-connection-factory name="jms/QueueConnectionFactory" location="jms/QueueConnectionFactory" />
    <queue name="MyQueue" location="jms/SEMBidQueue" persistence-file="MyQueue">

    You "care if it is a global transaction" because you use the corresponding annotation .
    @TransactionManagement(TransactionManagementType.CONTAINER)
    @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)This makes OC4J start a global transaction. Your config uses a non-xa connection factory that does not obey the Transaction Manager and setRollbackOnly does not work for this reason.
    There is another problem with your setup.
    "For message-driven beans using the OEMS JMS (in-memory or file-based) message service provider, <Required> is supported only if you access this message service provider using the Oracle JMS Connector. For more information, see [Restrictions When Accessing a Message Service Provider Without a J2CA Resource Adapter|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/web.1013/b28221/undejdev010.htm#CCHFAAAH]" .
    You need to use an instance of JMS Connector (predefined or your own) for proper transaction enlistment of OC4J JMS.
    The built-in JMS connector mentioned by you publishes connection factories at the following locations:
    OracleASjms/MyXAQCF
    OracleASjms/MyQCF
    OracleASjms/MyXATCF
    OracleASjms/MyTCF
    OracleASjms/MyXACF
    OracleASjms/MyCF
    For your case you need OracleASjms/MyXACF or OracleASjms/MyXACF . Do not bypass the JMS Connector by using the OC4J JMS connection factories such as jms/XAConnectionFactory directly when you intend to use transactions.
    Hope this helps.
    Gera

  • OC4J 9.0.4 System Property Configuration

    Hi,
    I am relatively need to the J2EE world and am working with OC4J 9.0.4 Stand Alone server.
    I am trying to setup a system property that I can read using the System.getProperty() method in one of my class files.
    example: systemEnv=System.getProperty('NEARMISS_PROPERTIES");
    Is there a configuration file for OC4J in ../j2ee/home/config where I can set it up so that it is globally available or just available to my container context?
    I was able to get it to work by using the -D option on the java startup command for OC4J but do not want to do it that way in the real DEV server. Its ok for my PC to intially develop but not for DEV/QA/PROD of course.
    example: java -DNEARMISS_PROPERTIES="D:\\J2EE Projects\\System Config Files" -jar oc4j.jar
    Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Dean Cyril Wood

    Can you try the "-updateConfig" option of admin.jar?
    java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost admin Matrox -updateConfigTo my vague memory, the "-restart" option does not necessarily implies reading the config files again.

    While searchign for DST patches for our systems I just noticed that oj4c 9.0.4 is not supported by Oracle. However when I download Oracle Databalse Lite from oracle.com it comes with oc4j 9.0.4. Isn't this something oracle should upgrade to a supported version?

  • Validated conf certified supported configurations

    Hi All,
    Right the vendor here I am trying to get rid of is scaring the client and raising an interesting point:
    I am building a new system on the hardware we own but are removing from their data centres.
    The client here wants the solution to be certified. (not just supported that is a must of course)
    the metalink note Certified Software on Oracle VM [ID 464754.1] says:
    "Going forward every product running on Linux and Windows released by Oracle is certified and supported on Oracle VM." and then lists some minimum versions (all of which we are higher than so that is good)
    but the previous vendor says that because the hardware is not on the (very small) oracle vm certified hardware list OR on the validated configurations list then the HW platform is not certified and therefore the solutions will not be certified.
    Can someone tell me exactly what is the truth here?
    the Hardware by the way is:
    IBM - DS5100 (DS5000) SAN
    IBM - X3650 M3 (servers)
    IBM - HS21 & HS22 blade servers
    Thank you

    Martin Brambley wrote:
    Can someone tell me exactly what is the truth here?We don't require that you run on certified hardware, so we will provide exactly the same support regardless of whether the hardware you're using is on our certified hardware list or not. However, we just haven't added that hardware to our testing platforms yet, so there may be issues we haven't seen yet.
    However, many of those components have already gone through validated configuration testing with previous Oracle VM versions, so they should be just fine:

    No testing on the DS5100 storage though.

  • Will Jrockit support the new Itanium Montecito chipset ?

    Hi,
    I am hoping if someone in BEA can
    Q1: inform me of the existing JRockit 5.0 will support the new Itanium Chipset (code name Montecito)
    Q2: if there is a new JVM planned for this chipset when it will be available.
    I checked the Jrockit product page (http://edocs.bea.com/jrockit/jrdocs/suppPlat/supp_50.html), but didn't find any details.

    Well we just tested a couple things and aparently SATA 1 or 2 or both don't work right still. I didn't test exactly which one wouldn't work with the drives, since we just wanted to get his raid setup started. So we have the two drives on SATA 3 & 4 and after multiple reboots, no clicking, and looks like everything works great.
    Still need to test and see how it goes after a couple days of use, but seems like everything is running smoothly. Again, thanks for the help!
