Occasional letters missing in pdf document created in Acrobat XI Pro

I have been working on a pdf document created from Indesign By Acrobat XI Pro that will be for online download. The first version was fine. Links had to be added and some of the text coloured. After edits occasional letters have gone missing throughout the document. Why on earth is this happening? I now have to go through the entire document with a fine toothcomb before submitting it to my client again. It doesn't make me look good!
Any ideas?
Salli G.

I suspect that you somehow deleted the embedding of the fonts. Check the document properties and be sure all fonts are embedded.

  • Printing a pdf document created in Acrobat Pro 9.0

Solved the problem of printing a pdf document created using Acrobat Pro 9.0 with SL - tried many different things form adobe etc and by accident discovered while in Acrobat you have to select ADVANCED in Print then click onto SAVE AS IMAGE in next box and then OK and all prints as it should. Just thought others may want to know this if they have had problems 1

I'm reviewing your post and while I see a fix, I can't locate the problem that you may have originally posted. Since I'm having issues, I'm hoping your's were the same.
Sometimes when I print an Adobe Acrobat 9.0 document, most of the printed word fail to print out (although they are in the PDF document). Almost all graphical elements print and the occasional line of text--but most text is missing. Was ti your issue?
    Thanks.

  • Previewing a pdf document created by Acrobat 5.0 in IE 7

I have a document converted to pdf format by Adobe Acrobat 5.0 that needs to be accessible for viewing and download from a web page.  I got it uploaded to the website and there is a link to the file on the website's home page.  I have Adobe Reader 9.1 on my computer.  When I go to open the document that I created using Acrobat 5 by clicking on the link for it, a box comes up telling me that I "need Adobe Acrobart/Reader 8 or 9 to view the document in a web browser".  My Windows XP system's Folder Options are set up to open files with a pdf extension using Adobe Reader 9.1.  Yet, when I try to access a pdf from my website I get the aforementioned error message and Adobe Acrobat 5.0 opens up, and with nothing displayed.  Has anyone experienced this, or know of a fix.... or what I may have done wrong in building the document or configured my web browser, Windows Internet Explorer 7?  -- Chessgeek

Have you checked your preferences (Edit>Preferences>Page display) and made sure that "display large images" is checked?

  • How can I allow visitors to my website to search within pdf documents created with Acrobat?

I honestly had no idea where to place this question. If I should move it to another forum area please just let me know. I have about 200-300 pdf documents on my website and people are able to search by the title of the file but not for items in the body of the document. Is there a way that is possible?

Are the documents encrypted? If they are not, the common search engines (Google, etc) will normally index all the text in a PDF, the same as if it was a regular Web page. They don't index non-text media within a PDF (images, attachments, etc.) nor will they handle PDF Portfolios.

  • Pdf form created in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended does not function properly when viewed by Reader

    Hello all-
I have created a form in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and have an issue because when others view the form in Adobe Reader some of the functions do not work- such as the attach a file button I created, or the save, print buttons (all are execute a menu item). These work on my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended but not on Reader.
I have tried saving many different versions- with security (password) and made sure to allow printing and commenting, editing, digital signatures etc...
    Without any security...
Even tried extending features in Adobe Reader!
The response from others is that it all works, except the ATTACH A FILE button- when they click on it it compresses, but, nothing happens!
I don't know what else to do! (I guess people could just attach things to the e-mail that is generated from the submit button, but worried people might forget at that step once they are past that section on the form and they jump to email to submit).
    Help please!
    A.

I've already extended the rights and made sure to save to activate that... as well as password protected the docs etc... still nothing...
I am aware that those with Basic Adobe Reader need rights extended to be able to use functions available to Adobe Pro.

  • While creating a PDF document usinf Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, it generates additional blank pages.

While creating a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it generates additional blank pages. How do I resolve this issue?

I might make a wild guess that you are using WORD and have used hard page breaks. If that is the case, then likely what happens is when you print to PDF the document is being reflowed to match the printer and the forced page break may end up on the next page and be forcing a second page. Just a guess.

  • Can't open any PDF file with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro

I have tried to open multiple Acrobat files but none will open. I get a FATAL ERROR message saying: "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server."  I've created documents in word and publisher and am able to convert to pdf format but after the pdf file has been created I cannot open to view and I get the error message. Please help! Thank you!

No I am thinking that the problem is with Acrobat XI Pro. Because as previously noted I can create a Word document and save as a PDF, the PDF document will be created by Acrobat XI Pro but will not open with Acrobat XI Pro, which normally happens automatically upon creating the PDF file from say Word, Exel, Publisher, etc. When I try to open with Acrobat XI Pro it give me the FATAL ERROR message saying: "Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server". Since I could not open any of my PDF documents with Acrobta XI Pro, because I had Acrobat XI Pro as my default PDF creater and reader, I installed Adobe Reader, hoping that it would allow me to view the PDF documents that I had just created with Acrobat XI Pro and it did. The problem is that I cannot open Acrobat XI Pro to creat or edit or add PDF restrictions on  a PDF document straight from Acrobat XI Pro, but I can create a, say Word document, and save as a PDF file. Before installing Adobe Reader I could not open, see or edit the just created PDF file created through Word it is just now after installing Acrobat Reader.
    Also worth noting.
I have been told that this same problem happened sometime ago with Adobe Acrobat X Pro (Vesion 10) and that the problem was fixed by editing something within the registry. Does anyone know anything about that? Thanks!

  • Problem printing pdf documents created by ps2pdf

When I try to print pdf documents that have been created from ps documents by ps2pdf, the output is corrupted. Many letters are missing but included graphics are printed just fine. This happens with my HP printer and with cups-pdf, when I print the pdf document to a new pdf document. There are no errors in the logs, so I don't know what is goning wrong. On a windows PC, the pdf documents are printed correct too. Other pdf documents, created by pdflatex are printed correct.
If I don't use ps2pdf and print the ps document directly, the output is correct. I have tried different pdf-viewers without any difference. About half a year ago, everything was working fine, so could it be related to : "As of version cups 1.5.3-3 ArchLinux makes use of the new full pdf-based printing workflow."?

    Flo,
In my limited experience with the iOS iWork apps, they weren't designed for those who are picky about the layout. They are highly automatic and if you don't like the result, it's not easy to override. If the format when printed leaves unpleasant margins, I think your best approach is to reshape the tables in such a way that they will better fit the target media. If you are having large top margin, make the tables narrower, then when they scale to fit the paper, then may fill it better.

can I create bookmarks on PDF document using stadard acrobat writer? or only using professional acrobat writer?

    Hi hagitl14083762,
Bookmarking in available in both Acrobat Pro and Standard. You'll find instructions here: Adobe Acrobat X Standard * Create a bookmark (while written for Acrobat X, these instructions apply to Acrobat XI as well).

  • PDF Documents compatible with Acrobat Reader 5.0

Which version (Standard, Pro or Ext Pro) of Adobe Acrobat 9.0  family should I buy to create PDF documents compatible with Acrobat Reader 5.0 ????
Is it possible to create PDF files from HTML and navigate through the links ????
    Thank you.

    Thank you for your answer.
Related to my first question (compatibility with Acrobat Reader 5.0), how should I save the PDF created ????  Saving the PDF in Acrobat Pro 9.0 with standard save option makes the document not readable by Acrobat Reader 5.0.
Should I save the document as PDF/A, PDF/X or any other subset ?????  If so, I'm not sure if they are included in the Standard.
    Thank you in advance.

  • How do you rotate the PDF you created in Acrobat but keep everything on the page from rotating?

How do you rotate the PDF you created in Acrobat but keep everything on the page from rotating with it?
I made a very complex form, but have decided it would be best to have it as a portrait instead of landscape.
Of course, when I rotate it, everything on the form is turned sideways.

Assuming that you created the form fields in Acrobat and those were just imposed on top of a document that you created from another application you might try these steps:
    1. Create a new PDF in landscape from the original document.
    2. Copy the form fields from the previous document to the new document.
    3. Move the fields to the proper locations.
At least I think this has a chance of working. You might give it a try on a single page or such.

  • Documents created on my iPhone or iPad go into iCloud with no problem.  Why can't I get the documents created on my MacBook Pro to go into iCloud?

Documents created on my iPhone or iPad go into iCloud with no problem and I can then access those documents from any of my "toys".  However, documents created on my MacBook Pro do not go into iCloud, and as such, they are not accessable from my iPhone or iPad.  How can I get the documents created on my MacBook Pro to go into the cloud?

    Reset iCloud sync state
    On Mac:
    Close open applications
    Open a Finder window
Choose “Go to Folder…” from the “Go” menu
    Enter “~/Library/Application Support/”
Find the folder named “Ubiquity” and move it to the Trash
    Restart your computer

  • Why can't I create Fillable PDF Forms using Adobe Acrobat X Pro and upload to Dreamweaver?

I can create fillable PDF Forms using Adobe Acrobat X Pro. I can email them to someone using Adobe Reader (free) and they can fill them, save and email to me. But when I upload the form to Dreamweaver CS5, the form is not fillable. And yes, I saved it as a Reader Extended PDF-Enable Additional Features.

I see no reason for this form to fail in Reader. Some questions for you.
    1. On the system with Adobe Reader, what is the system and the version of Adobe Reader?
    2. Are you viewing the PDF in a browser on the system with Reader, or in an Adobe Reader window?
    3. If it's a browser
    (a) what is the browser
    (b) if you download the file instead, and open directly in Reader, what happens?
