  • Linux 11g client to solaris10 11g server

Can you confirm that a linux 11g client can connect to a solaris 10 11g server?
I'm getting some weird connectivity issues between these and would like to confirm it isn't just me and my solaris 10 patch level or some other unknown.
tnsping and sqlplus hang. tcpdump shows that there is no push of data from the server after the initial SYN/SYN ACK. Don't think it is the firewall, since the handshake takes place, but I'm not the solaris sysadmin, so I can't be 100% on that.
    Thanks.

Oracle client server interoperability is not depends on platform. Linux 11g client definitely supported to connect to Solaris 11g server.
Can you post the content of tnsnames.ora of your 11g client (is it same as your 10g client that you said working?)
    also the output from
    lsnrctl status
    on server side.

  • OCIEnvNlsCreate() failed: OCI8+PHP+Linux+Oracle 11g

    Hi All,
I've been struggling with this since 3 days. I'm getting the following error while using oci_connect:
Warning: oci_connect(): OCIEnvNlsCreate() failed. There is something wrong with your system - please check that LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes the directory with Oracle Instant Client libraries
    My system configuration:
    PHP : 5.3.3
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.1
    Oracle: 11g
    OCI8: 1.4.9
My phpInfo() shows that OCI8 is configured with PHP. I did set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to Instantclient in httpd conf file itself and gave permission 777 just to make sure it's not permission issue. I did not set any ORACLE_HOME because my Oracle database is on a different server.
    Please help!!

Your post doesn't contain enough detail to identify a cause.
See Unable load  library '/usr/lib64/php/modules/oci8.so' - libclntsh.so.11.1 It is an example of a post that has good detail.

When you use the sdo_topo_map.create_feature interface,
the changes in the TopoMap cache are flushed to the DB for each feature.
This is done to maintain the consistency between the features and
    topo elements.
The SDO_TOPO_MAP.GET_EDGE_ADDITIONS gets you the edges that
are added and are still in the cache.
So in this case, since all changes from the cache are flushed, the procedure
    returns no edges.

  • Install Oracle Linux + 11G Rac (itanium) HELP

Hello, sorry for the English ...
I have 2 hp server rx2620 itanium, mas1000 and should do tests to install oracle 11g rac linux oracle, but on linux I can not, someone can give me some advice or guide on the internet? my question is how to share the disk, so that the 2 servers are able to see them, I use ASMLib?
    2 hp Server rx2620 itanium (4 NICs + 2 fiber channel cards)
MSA1000 (2 100gb disks to be shared) Fibre Channel
    Oracle Linux 5.5 IA64
    Oracle 11g Grid
    Oracle Database 11g
    Sorry and thanks.

There does not seen to be much current development in this area. Oracle Linux 5.5 is apparently the last version available. I would ask Oracle support about current and future plans to support the IA64 bit platform. Perhaps you might rather want to use HP Unix instead of Linux. Apparently Red Hat is no longer going to support the IA64 platform according to http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/12/18/redhat_rhel6_itanium_dead. Oracle Stops All Software Development For Intel Itanium Microprocessor (March 2011) http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/press/346696
I think this might actually be another example of a silly development in the IT industry, where customers prefer cheaper, often more trivial solutions, over more expensive superior solutions. The majority of customers is apparently buying into the the Intel x86-64 architecture to support x86 CISC based software like MS windows, thinking a x86-64 CPU is just as powerful as a IA 64-bit CPU.
Regrading your question to share the disks, you need hardware that supports device sharing and a cluster file system. There are several options for hardware, typically fiber-channel, iSCSI and the older differential (HVD) SCSI for SAN and even NFS can apparently be used with a certified NAS storage. MSA1000 should be fine. Oracle provides OCFS2 cluster filesystem and you can also use ASM. You don't necessarily need ASMLib, but need to setup multipath or udev. How to setup the MSA1000 for shared storage should be in the Storage controller manual.

Since you are performing the cross-platform migration . So this method will not work . Either use the exp/imp or datapump or the transport tablespace . for more about the transport tablespace check the below link

  • 11g Clusterware installation VIPCA Exception error on linux

    Hi,
I'm trying to build a 11g RAC on OEL5.1 with vmware for education purposes.
    Software used:
    - Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.1
    - 11g clusterware for linux
    - 11g Enterprise Edition database software for linux
    - VMware 1.0.8 for linux
    Hardware:
    - Intel 2.3GHz quadcore with 4GB RAM and 250GB harddisk
    I have successfully setup:
    - host machine using OEL5.1 and installed VMware 1.0.8
    - 2 nodes with guest OS using OEL5.1
When installing 11g clusterware, at the last part when we need to run orainst.sh and root.sh as root user on both nodes, I am able to run orainst.sh successfully on both nodes.
However, root.sh is only able to run successfully on node 1 but had VIPCA error on node 2.
Excerpt of the root.sh error message on node 2:
NO KEYS WERE WRITTEN. Supply -force parameter to override.
-force is destructive and will destroy any previous cluster

Oracle CRS stack installed and running under init(1M)
    Running vipca(silent) for configuring nodeapps+
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/ewt/wizard/WizardFrame+
Executing crs_stat -t as root user on both nodes only show 2 crs processes (CRSD and EVMD).
I did try invoking vipca manually as root user, but keep getting the same Exception error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/ewt/wizard/WizardFrame+
I have tried installing clusterware more than 3 times and keep getting the same errors.
Has anyone experienced this vipca error before?

    Check vipca.jar file at $ORA_CRS_HOME/srvm/jlib/vipca.jar
    $ORA_CRS_HOME/jdk/bin/jar -tvf $ORA_CRS_HOME/srvm/jlib/vipca.jar
    Or

Away from these things – anythings I need to configure or any services that I need to stop – like listener etc.It depends on setting you want.
You may use two listeners separately or you can use one listener (9i) for both versions.
If you decide to use two listeners (better option) then they must be listening on different ports (of course) and you don't need to stop or reconfigure anything on 8i.
If you want use one listener for both instances (8i,9i) then you need to configure listener.ora for both instances and you should use 9i listener. But this option is not good as the first one.
Just little hint. Create in user's home new enviroment file (for example .oracle9) with completely new enviroment for 9i. Then for work with 9i simply reset the enviroment by execution of ". .oracle9".
Basicaly you don't need to stop anything during installation (but for sure you could to prevent some mistake during installtion) but installation could affect the server's performance.

  • Need Steps or documents to connect existing 10g agent to 11g oms

    Hi All,
Just installed 11g oms on oel 5.5 linux and it runs good. We have several hp servers run 10205 agents and they are monitored by 10205 oms on window. We want to use this new 11g oms to replace the 10205 oms. How to make this 11g linux oms to find the 10g hp agents?
Has anyone known the steps to configure an existing 10205 hp agent to connect to linux 11g oms? Or generally the steps to modify an existing 10g agent to see the 11g oms?
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Sorry my mistake.
    You should
    1.
    Stop the Management Agent.
    2.
Locate the emd.properties file in the Management Agent home directory:
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/config/emd.properties
    3.
Use a text editor to open the file and locate the REPOSITORY_URL property.
    4.
Modify the value for the REPOSITORY_URL property so it references the new Management Service. For example:
    REPOSITORY_URL=http://mgmthost2.acme.com:4889/em/upload
    5.
Modify the value for the emdWalletSrcUrl property so it references the new Management Service. For example, if the new Management Service is on a host called mgmthost2.acme.com , modify the property as follows:
    emdWalletSrcUrl=http://mgmthost2.acme.com:4889/em/wallets/emd
    6.
Save your changes and close the emd.properties file.
    7.
To ensure that the Management Agent is no longer holding any specific data or settings from the previous Management Service, delete all the files in the following directories:
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/upload/
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/state/
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/collection/*
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/lastupld.xml
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/agntstmp.txt
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/blackouts.xml
    AGENT_HOME/sysman/emd/protocol.ini
Note that this action removes all user-defined metrics (UDM)s and custom changes to metric and policy collections.
    Note:
You can use the emctl clearstate agent command to delete the files in the state directory.
    8.
    Restart the Management Agent.
    as directed by mnazim (sorry)

  • Download Oracle DB 11g

    Hi all
    1. I'd like to know where I can download Oracle DB 11g for my own personal home-training
    2. what's the connection between oracle DB 11g and Windows / Linux / UNIX. Could the masters here elaborate?
    thanks.

Is Oracle under windows and under LInux different? what are the differences? syntax?
Yes is diffrent in terms of software and how object module created. ie .o files.
    1)
In windows relinking of binaries will not happen when you are installing the oracle software
In Linux relinking of binaries will happen when you are installing the oracle software and you can check the installation log.
    2) Linux is more fexiable and robust compare to windows ( this will not applicable to as you are using for training purpose)
I'm planning on taking oracle DBA 11g OCA, and hopefully Oracle 11g DBA OCP in the future. Will it be categorized to Oracle Windows 11g DBA OCP and Oracle Linux 11g DBA OCP? thanks.
no, there is only 11g DBA OCP or 11g DBA OCA.
But if you work on linux then you can also write oracle on linux.
if you work on linux then you can use, solaris, hp-ux,hp-IA, etc..
    you will became robust
IN OCM (oracle certified master) also you will use linux not windows :)
    Kind Regards,

when a remove few unions just use 32 union then it work like charm.
pls throw some light on this.
thanksYes, first option is to create view. If it's not possible (you want to use apex session state in aueryetc.) then change report type as "PL/SQL function returning SQL" and create function in DB.
