OCR Exact is doing weird cut and paste to original PDF image

Using Acrobat 7, I am scanning old typewritten documents, most on legal sized paper.  When I run “OCR exact” on them to create searchable text (hidden text) behind the original image, the original image (on top of the hidden text) changes.  Specifically, Acrobat takes part of the original PDF image and copies it at the bottom of the original PDF image.  When I have the document displayed in full screen, I can sit there and watch the image change at the bottom when the OCR completes running.  It always changes the bottom of the PDF by taking a small snapshot of part of the PDF from somewhere else in the PDF and repeating it at the bottom.  I have seen it take a chunk from the top of the document and repeat it at the bottom, and I have seen it take a chunk of the document from the middle and repeat it at the bottom.  The “repeated part” will sometimes start at the very end (not covering original text), and sometimes start an inch or two from the end (thus covering some original text).  It only seems to happen on documents that were typewritten.  Scans of documents created after the invention of word processors don’t end up having the problem I am describing.
Anyone know what is happening and how to correct it?  Thank you.

Hi stpippin,
I am not sure what you are trying to do. Numbers works best with several small tables, each with a purpose. Rather than copying formulas to another part of a table, you can create another table with a new purpose.
Table 1 contains values (typed in, pasted in, or calculated from elsewhere):
Fruit
Value
Apple
99
Banana
98
Cherry
97
Date
96
Eugenia
95
Fig
94
Grape
93
Table 2
Fruit
Value
Apple
99
Banana
98
Cherry
97
Date
96
Eugenia
95
Fig
94
Grape
93
A2 contains this formula (and Fill Down and Right)
=Table 1::A2
Select cells A2 to B8 and copy. Then paste into Table 3:
Fruit
Value
Apple
99
Banana
98
Cherry
97
Date
96
Eugenia
95
Fig
94
Grape
93
Formula in Table 3::A2 becomes
=Table 1::A2
Now you have another table that duplicates Table 2. What do you want to do with it?
Regards,
Ian.

If your using File>Place then photoshop cs2 creates what's known as Smart Objects, which photoshop 7 didn't have.
In photoshop cs2 you can rasterize the smart objects and that should make the Cut function available.
Select both placed layers, right click on the area to the right of the tumbnail and select Rasterize Layers.
If in photoshop cs2 you to Help>Photoshop Help and look under Layers>Smart Objects, that should give you a good overview of what smart objects are.

  • Cutting and pasting tables from PDF files

    Hi
We use large pdf files for survey data tables (typically 500-1000 pages). It would be very useful to be able to cut and paste tables into MS-Office applictions, but this is generally not available. However, I have been able to cut and paste from another pdf file.
Right click on the selected tables gives two different menus, even though the software is the same (Adobe reader 9). The file I can cut and paste from has a right-click menu 'Copy with formatting', which works fine - the survey tables don't have the 'Copy with formatting' option.
What causes this difference?  Is it possible to get the copy with formatting option?
Apologies if this is really obvious - any help gratefully recieved.
    Regards
    Georges

"Copy with formatting" is available when working with a Tagged output PDF.
If the survey data tables' PDF is created via a reporting app it is most likely not a Tagged output PDF (and likely, not able to be processed out as a Tagged PDF).
    Be well...

  • How to cut and paste from one PDF to another

Acrobat Pro - 2 weeks ago I could cut and paste text from one PDF to another doc or PDF but now the cursor has disappeared and I only get a hand.  I can no longer highlight text. Is there something in the settings I can change?

Is this one one pdf or all pdfs? Do you have the correct tool selected?

  • Cut and Paste keeping original reference

Is there a way to cut a number of formula based cells and paste them to a different location on a table and have the formulas keep their old references (right now my formulas are keeping their same relative positional references and having useless outputs [Because of blank or incorrect data reference])? I'm aware I could rewrite them using "$" to force them to keep the same reference but I was wondering if there was any other way (to avoid having to type a million "$"). I tried doing this in Google Spreadsheets and it seemed to keep the correct reference without any additional fuss, so I'm hoping Numbers as some functionality like this that I'm not finding.

  • Cutting and Pasting vs. Placing Images

    Hi there,
I'm currently doing some visual research for a class project and I'm collecting some images from the web for my presentation booklet. Normally when I do this, I save each image to my folder and then place the images into either illustrator or indesign (depending on which one I need to use). However for this one I have a lot of images and it just seems kind of crazy to have to save them all individually and then place them all one by one. At the end of the day they're just filler images, nothing too important (quite small) but they need to be there.
What is the main disadvantage of just copying and pasting images in this scenario? Once I have collected all the images I need and arrange them on my spread, can I not just copy that to indesign and have that as an 'embedded' image? I won't need to edit them...they're just research pictures.
Anyway I hope I've explained myself somewhat coherently...

    Bayne,
If you File>Place, you may tick Link and thereby have them as linked images without adding to the AI file size (before you save to PDF or something).

  • Parallels Cut and Paste Help

How does one cut and paste from a program in a software program running on Windows XP in Parallels directly to Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac in the OS X platform (10.4.8)? Right now, when I cut/copy it first goes to TextEdit and then from TextEdit I cut/copy and paste into MS Word.

  • Cut and paste problem in an applet :(

    Hi All,
I have developed an applet based GUI and now I wanted to cut and paste some text from an external application say from a notepad(Windows) to a
JTextfield in the applet. I tried to do it on a applet but it was not allowing me to do it. I was able to do the same(cut and paste) on a textfield when run as an application. So does the cut and paste operation has anything to do with the sandbox security provided by an applet model?. This sounds bit crazy or maybe Im missing something here. Would appreciate help on this.
    Thanks a ton!

  • Cut and Paste: Frame and Content Size Auto Changes

I'm working in InDesign CS2 and am having this reoccurring problem.
When I cut and paste frames with placed images (or pull images from a library) the frame and image will both expand to between 300%-3,000%. As you can imagine, it's very frustrating to have to create new frames and place new images every time. Any suggestions on how to fix or work around?

I'm still having problems with this, even using Paste and Match Style.
My table has three rows with gray background, then three rows of white; this pattern repeats for many rows. In the center row of each three rows is some text, while all other rows are blank. I want to move all this text down three rows, so that the text that was in the center row of the gray rows now is in the center row of the white rows, but I want the row colors to remain unchanged. Here's what I've tried.
If I "Cut" the selected cells, then the background colors are cut, so this is no good. Instead, I Copy the cells, then hit the Delete key. This leaves the background alone. Now I select a cell three rows down from the top. If I Paste, then the old backgrounds are pasted in, which is not the behavior I want. If I Paste and Match Style, then all the backgrounds are overwritten with white, except those single rows that originally contained both text, and had a gray background. The original cells that were gray but had no text are pasted in as white.
This latter behavior makes no sense to me. There seems to be a difference in how Paste and Match Style works, depending on whether the copied cells had text, or were blank.
Is there another way to do this rather common task—moving text around a table that has alternating-colored rows, without messing up those colors?

  • How do you cut and paste text from Adobe Reader 11 into Word?

Using Windows 8.1.  Recently purchased Adobe Reader 11.  Need to cut and paste text from PDF into Word docs.  Docs are not locked and content should be available for editing.  Have figured out how to highlight the text through the Comment tools, but nothing (right-clicking, going to Edit pulldown) menu gives me a Copy option.  How do I cut and paste the text?

Good to know that I got what I paid for with the Export PDF.I just went
into the document that I am trying to cut and paste from and highlighted a
piece of text.  Clicked right, checked the Edit pulldown, and then did
Ctrl+C (assuming you meant Ctrl and then C, rather than holding them both
down together).  Still no Copy option anywhere.
Properties for the document I am trying to work with do say "Content
Copying: Allowed" under Security. Since I can highlight text, I assumed
that the text is there (not a photo scan) so that I can copy it.  Should I
look somewhere else under properties to confirm this?
As I did last night, I also opened up a document that I have cut and pasted
extensively from before-so I know the text is there and manipulable.
Attempted to cut and paste from it, using the same methods above.  Again,
no option to copy with any of them.
Perhaps I should clarify that by cut-and-paste, I do mean that I want to
copy the text from the original and then transfer it to a Word doc that I
am writing.  I am not trying to do anything with the original other than
copy from it--not cutting anything out of the document itself.
Is there a way to do this with the Adobe 11 reader.  At this point, I am
wondering if I need to uninstall Adobe 11 and try to go back to Adobe 10 or
whatever the reader was that was installed on my computer when I bought it
(Dell Inspiron touch-screen laptop purchased in May 2013, if that gives any
idea of which reader might have been installed there.  That version did,
however, have some other limitations that made me want to get Adobe 11. Any
ideas about what to do now.

  • Cut and paste pdf files

I have a need to cut and paste from a pdf file into text editor is this possible. I have searched for 3rd party software and have not come up with any thing any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

I'd guess that you won't be able to copy and paste text since Ghost Script utilizes PostScript which is essentially an image file. It would be like trying to grab text from a bmp file...it's not text anymore because it's a picture of the text.
For other documents if you have the Acrobat 8 Reader and the tools are greyed out, then it sounds that most likely security was set to not allow copy and paste. The person who distilled the document would have selected that security option when creating the pdf. You can check that in the security settings in Properties.

  • LR4 and Photoshop CS5 cut and paste?

I've begun using LR4 for website photo editing, but I'm finding that I still need to move the LR modified images into PS for cropping, final size, and resolution adjustments. When I chose Photo>Edit in>Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS5, I've been selecting, "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments", which works fine.
However, when I cut and paste the resized LR image into another PS document, usually a master template, ALL of my LR adjustments dissapear and the photo is restored to its original settings. How can I keep all of the LR adjustments during a cut and paste operation within PS?
    Thanks!

  • Does Xoom do App to App Cut and Paste?

I would like to be able to highlight a phrase or paragraph, cut or copy t to a clipboard and then paste it into another application such as email or Notes.
MY DX will not do that.  Can XXoom do it?

To initiate simply long pressed near the words that you want to copy. (Actually I was wrong, I can copy from this site... more below). The long press action often won't get the exact words you want, but you'll end up with some highlighted words and some controls that allow you to modify the selection.
With a selection made there are buttons at the top of the screen that allow you to specify that you want to do a copy.
To paste, all you need to do is long press in an input field. Again, you'll get a Congolese that allows you to specify the cursor position, then an on screen control near the cursor that says paste.
I'll copy / paste your message below. No, I don't have a way to prove that I didn't just retype it, but I'm very lazy Looks like it drops the hard returns and just gets the text.
Are you doing cut and paste from a Xoom or from droid 2? How do you go about Highlignting more than one word? HOw do you initiate Copy or Cut? How do you initiate Paste in the other App?
