OCS 2007 R2 Client synchronize errors

Hello I have been receiving the following error message when I log into my OCS 2007 R2. I am still able to see my users, but I am not able to search for new users who are added to AD.
Cannot synchronize with the corporate address book because the file could not be found.
I do however see users whom I have added previously:
I have performed the following steps:
Deleted my GALContacts.DB from C:\Users\user.company\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\[email protected], but I have waited couple days now and it is not downloading the newest DB.
I then navigated to HKCU\software\policies\Microsoft and did not find a 'communicator' folder so I created one manually and set the GalDownloadInitialDelay to 0. and waited hours, but did didn't help. I still don't have the galcontacts.db in my sip_user.company.com
folder.
On the server when I put in the
https://server.local\Abs\Ext\Handler then I get page not found.
When I open IIS and navigate to the abs folder it is set to application user pass-through.
I am confused and I don't know what else to do. I could really use some help!

Hi,
Did the issue happen only for you or for multiply users?
please try to login with your OCS account to another OCS client to have a try.
Please also enable Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Tool for further troubleshooting with the help of the link below:

  • How to connect Lync 2013 client with OCS 2007 R2 Edge server

    Hi,
We have OCS 2007 R2 Edge server for external & OCS 2007 R2 FE Server for internal access in our environment.
We able to access internally Lync2013 clients with OCS 2007R2 server, however from external we cannot access Lync2013 client with OCS2007 R2 server.
Is there any patch or registry key trick to access OCS from lync2013 client externally? We cannot immediately migrate to Lync2013 server from OCS.
    Any help
    MD

    Hi,
I suggest you still use OCS 2007 R2 client to login OCS 2007 R2 Server untill finishing migration to Lync Server 2013, as using Lync client with OCS 2007 R2 Server will offer a pretty limited experience.
Here is a great blog about Lync 2010 Client unsupported with OCS, it is for Lync 2010 client but similar for Lync 2013 client:

I need to use the BB Browser to access a Communicator 2007 web client.  After entering the URL, the device requests/runs scripts and when the progess bar completes, briefly flashes "loading" and loads a blank screen.  Other folks can use this URL with an iPhone, any hope of getting this to work on the BB?

  • OCS 2007 and autodiscover

    Hello
slowing moving a new company into our environment. first we are giving them our primary smtp addresses to use in their domain. with their own exchange servers for now. MY smtp is abc.com. once they change their primary smtp their OCS
2007 R2 client prompts for credentials.
I thought there was an regkey to disable autodisover just for OCS?
    thanks

    Hi,
For Lync 2010, you can try the following steps to test in an affected machine using Lync Client 2010:
From a command prompt execute with admin rights:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Communicator /v TrustModelData /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /d "a.com,b.com", empty the value.
    Reboot the machine and test.
For OCS 2007, you can check if the similar value in registry exist, if yes, try to change it and then test agin.

  • OCS 2007 R2 with SQL 2005 database mirroring failover?

We have OCS 2007 Enterprise Edition installed fine and with the databases mirrored to a backup server/location.  I'm testing our environment for a potential disaster, including losing our primary SQL server (SQL 2005).  I fail the databases over and update the backend pool to the backup SQL server name, but we cannot connect via Office Communicator and I see this error on the OCS server:
OCS User Services, error category 1006, event id 30962:
Connection to back-end database succeeded, but failed to execute registration stored procedure on the back-end. This error should not occur under normal operating conditions. Contact product support.

Cause: Possible issues with back-end database.
    Resolution:
Ensure the back-end is functioning correctly.
Can anyone shed some light on this SQL 515 error?  Thanks in advance!
    -Erik

We're having a similar issue but with error number 601. I've tried a million different things aside from restoring the database, which may be next. I tried editing the procedure and I *think* I edited the right lines 77 and 105 for me. Changed:
        delete dbo.DbConfigDateTime
          from @DbTime as t
         where dbo.DbConfigDateTime.Name = t.ValueName
           and t.StoredDbName = N'rtc'
           and t.Value is null
    to:
        delete dbo.DbConfigDateTime
          from @DbTime as t
         where dbo.DbConfigDateTime.Name = t.ValueName
           and t.StoredDbName = N'rtc'
           and t.Value is not null
    and
        delete rtcdyn.dbo.DbConfigDateTime
        from @DbTime as t
        where rtcdyn.dbo.DbConfigDateTime.Name = t.ValueName
        and t.StoredDbName = N'rtcdyn'
        and t.Value is null
    to:
        delete rtcdyn.dbo.DbConfigDateTime
        from @DbTime as t
        where rtcdyn.dbo.DbConfigDateTime.Name = t.ValueName
        and t.StoredDbName = N'rtcdyn'
        and t.Value is not null
Not sure if that's where the modification is supposed to go. Any clarity here? Anyone else get a 601 error?

  • User Archiving of IM's in OCS 2007

Running OCS 2007 R2 and I am in need of seeing which users within the server have the IM Archiving feature turned on in the options area of the local client. This feature must be saved to the server somewhere as new pc's automatically reload that setting
if ticked. These conversations are then logged in the users Outlook in Conversation History.
    Objective:
Is there a script / query that I can run to find which users on a subset list of employees have this turned on?
If so can i tell when it was turned on?
Is there a script or place to force this feature on for these users that are not currently on?
If so can I be notified if they turn it off?
    Thanks

I've put this together for you quickly, it's a quick and dirty vbscript that will check the value in the registry and then write the result to a CSV file. You can test it out and see if it does what you need.
    Set wshShell = CreateObject( "WScript.Shell" )
    str= readFromRegistry("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator\ImAutoArchivingPolicy","error")
    if (str="1") then
'Is enabled. - Handle this however you want, I've outputted to CSV text file.
    WriteAudit wshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%COMPUTERNAME%"),wshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%USERNAME%"),"True"
    elseif (str="0") then
    'Is disabled.
    WriteAudit wshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%COMPUTERNAME%"),wshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%USERNAME%"),"False"
    else
'This means the key is missing altogether
    WriteAudit wshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%COMPUTERNAME%"),wshShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%USERNAME%"),"Error"
    end if
    function readFromRegistry (strRegistryKey, strDefault )
    Dim WSHShell, value
    On Error Resume Next
    Set WSHShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    value = WSHShell.RegRead( strRegistryKey )
    if err.number <> 0 then
    readFromRegistry= strDefault
    else
    readFromRegistry=value
    end if
    set WSHShell = nothing
    end function
    function WriteAudit (username, computername, result)
'This is the output file, set this to whereever (for example a hidden network share that has read/write for every user.)
    strFile = "C:\Temp\MyFile.Txt"
    Const ForAppending = 8
    set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
set objFile = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strFile, ForAppending, True)
    objFile.WriteLine(Now & "," & computername & "," & username & "," & result)
    objFile.Close
    end function
Here's an example of the output:
    4/3/2014 1:14:52 PM,gthomas,SURFACE-5332553,True

  • Microsoft OCS 2007 and UCM 7.0(1)

    Hi,
We are trying to integrate Microsoft OCS 2007 with UCM 7.0(1) using SIP trunk. OCS does not have any PSTN gateways and everything from OCS is sent to UCM (except PC calls from one OCS client to another). The goals are:
    1. Single Number Reach between IP extension and OCS client (using Cisco Mobility features)
    2. Call signaling/establishment between Cisco and Microsoft IPT worlds.
After establishing SIP trunk between UCM and OCS Mediation Server both (1) and (2) above work, however there are certain things I see which do not work as expected and the most bizarre one is:
I initiate call from OCS client to PSTN destination through MGCP gateway registered to Call Manager. I answer PSTN phone and then hang up the call on OCS client. What happens is that my IP Phone "wakes up" and goes into Hold, playing MoH for the PSTN phone. It stays like that for 10-12 seconds and then the call ends. These 10-12 seconds are very consistent and it happens everytime. OCS client number is configured in Remote Destination Profile in UCM, which is assocated with my IP Phone DN...all part of Cisco Mobility setup.
It looks like SIP signaling issue, that whatever OCS signals to UCM for ending the call, is perceived by UCM as putting the call on hold for 10-12 seconds....
It resembles a bit of what happens if you have shared lines in Call Manager. If you answer a call on one device and then put the call on hold, the other device with that line will "wake up" and the call will appear to be on hold there as well, so it can be picked up from the other device. In this case OCS Client and IP Phone are not really shared lines, though Cisco Mobility makes SNR, so in a sense you can think about them as shared... But I am not putting the call on hold, I am hanging it up....
Did anyone see anything like that?
    Thanks!
    David

    Hi David,
this is a normal behaviour. To CUCM, OCS is a remote destination (just like your mobile phone). When your mobile phone hangs up, the system will put the call on hold for 10 sec.
This is there for the mobile user to go to his desk to pick up the call and continue the conversation (part of single number reach feature)
The best practise will be for the user to ensure that the other party hangs up the call first before he hang up.
Please grade if you think it's useful =)

Are the chats saved on local machine (at client end) or are they saved on the server?

Can it be like below chat conversation?

"Are the chats saved on local machine (at client end) or are they saved on the server?"
Chats can be saved in the conversation history folder of the Exchange inbox.  They can also be archived to a separate SQL server if this was configured in OCS.  Whether they're kept "locally" or not depends on if cached mode was enabled
for Outlook or if they exported to PSTs.
"If one of the two participants in the chat conversation has quit the organization, what is the way to retrieve it? Essentially, whose name comes in the 'From'
section in the saved conversation history - is the person initiating the conversation or is there some other criteria? For
example: Can it be like below chat conversation?"
If we're talking about conversation history in Outlook, it might say "Conversation with [other person]".
It's not so much from anyone, as it contains participants.  If it's in SQL, because you enabled archiving and it hasn't been purged, then they will be individual messages to each other, so you'll search both from and to.  You may be able to retrieve
it from Exchange, if the mailbox exists and they haven't deleted it, or from backups.
