Odd thing happened after reinstalling Office 2013

Hi I have a WD MyCloud cabled direct to my router which I access from desktop and laptop. Nothing fancy about set up and only me with access rights. I recently had to reinstall Office 2013 following an upgrade to my hard drive to a SSD.  Whenever I go to MyCloud via my desktop and double click on any of my MS Office items (word, excel, ppt does it with all) MS opens up with the template page not my document. When I use MS to browse to the document to open  - it does it again just opens up to MS template page. I back up MyCloud to a hard drive on my desktop. I take any of the exact same documents and double click on those sat on the hard drive they open directly into my document. Sorry thats a cack handing explanation but why is this happening ?? Many thanksJon

Thanks for reply. Yes - I have deleted and remapped a few times after I've tweaked a setting. Reboot a few times in between too. When I view my clopud via the z: mapped drive I can see and access everything, open pdf's, image files etc. No problems at all. Apart from MS 2013 docs/xls/ppt. Even when I right click a word doc and open in wordpad it works and I can see my document. But double click to open in Word and it seems to flash up the word opening page twice then defaults to template. No amount of directions will it open the document properly. Exactly same document sat on my c drive or e drive. Opens straight away no fuss. The fault seems very much focussed on how MS Office reads security settings and for some reason no longer likes mycloud via the mapped drive. Albeit exactly the same docs accessed via the explorer>network> mycloud name open fine !>? Tried amending MS trust centre but it throws up something unhelpful like I haven't got security rights to do it or something. At this rate I'll delete MS office and just go with Google docs (and ppt and xls) !

  • Snipping Tool stopping working after installing Office 2013 Pro (32 bit) on Win 7 Pro 64bit - help?

Have been looking at many forums to fix this:
    ran SFC - no errors
    rebooted multiple times
    all Windows Updates are current
don't want to disable antivirus, as some have suggested
Uploaded a registry fix, which several have suggested - no soap
    Note:
all other features of this PC work great - zero issues.
the issue starting right after installing Office 2013 Pro - 32bit.  It runs fine.
"Paint" runs fine.  "Print Screen" works fine - image goes to clipboard, and I can paste anywhere.
get the standard message everyone posts in forums:
"The Snipping Tool is not working on your computer right now. Restart your computer, and then try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator."
Have tried other free third-party tools, and they are cumbersome, and I love the MS Snipping Tool.
    Advice?  Tips?

  • How to get Outlook email indexed by Spotlight after reinstalling Office 2011?

I reinstalled Office 2011 and my Outlook email index stopped updating. I forced a reindex of the entire drive, but the email still wasn't indexing. Stopped by the Genius Bar and they suggested reindexing the drive and repairing permissions (didn't work).

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to get Outlook email indexed by spotlight after reinstalling Office 2011, please follow these steps: -
Outlook provides a custom importer to Spotlight to index email. It is typically found in:
    "/Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Outlook.mdimporter",
    You can use the command
/usr/bin/mdimport –L to list all installed importers. When I did that I saw that the importer from the old installation of Outlook was still installed because it was still in the trash can. When I tried to manually import an email using the
command usr/bin/mdimport –d2 /[ path ]/x00_138.olk14Message I saw that it was failing to load the importer from the trash.
Emptying the trash fixed the issue. Wish there was a way to selectively empty the trash without deleting everything.
Once I emptied the trash,  had to force Spotlight to reindex the email folder by adding the /Users/jim/Documents/Microsoft User Data folder to Privacy
tab of Spotlight System Settings, and then removing it again. After spotlight reported the indexing was complete (via the Spotlight dropdown in the upper right) the email was all indexed again.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Office Add-In Not Working After Installing Office 2013

I just installed Office 2013 on my Windows 7 Pro desktop with Acrobat X Pro installed and all of the Office Add-In's went away.  I find them very useful and would like to know how I can get them working again. Thanks.

I wonder why Acrobat X is not compatible with Office 2013. Acrobat X was released late 2010, Office 2013 ca. two years later.
I think you answered your own question.
I don't want to buy an update to Acrobat XI for compatibility reasons only.
While you may not want to buy an upgrade for compatibility reasons, this is one of the main reasons why people do pay for upgrades. After all, you paid for Office 2013! Does this mean that only Microsoft should get money for software, everyone one else should run around to support their incompatible changes for nothing?
I just want that I can call the PDFmaker out of my Office applications. What is the problem?
    Isn't it clear?

Fresh install, no errors in install at all
    Regards

    Hi,
Rundll32.exe is responsible for calling Windows DLL (or Dynamic Link Library) files and loading them into your PC's memory.
Usually the rundll32.exe Application error is not a straight forward error. There are lots of possible reasons for this error, includes a failed or incorrect installation or uninstallation of any softwares, which might have left erroneous Windows registry
    entries.
Tracking down the exact issue can take lots of investigation. The severity of this error really depends, if everything works well for you, you can just ignore it. However, if you want to correct this, try below steps:
Since you notice this error right after you installed Office 2013, try to remove and re-install it using default setting.
Reboot your computer, many programs require a reboot for successful installation.
Try to update your computer drivers. This is usually the cause of lots of .dll file error.
Try to run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to correct any incorrect system file. It is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files:

    Hope this helps.

  • Excel connection manager - Error after Installing Office 2013

    Hi Team,
My SSIS package used to work fine until I Upgraded my Office 2010 to Office 2013. After upgrading to 2013, the SSIS package which is created using SQL 2012 is throwing error for Excel Connection manager. Below is the error what I see
    TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio
Could not retrieve the table information for the connection manager 'Excel Connection Manager'.
Failed to connect to the source using the connection manager 'Excel Connection Manager'
    BUTTONS:
    OK
FYI, I am running the package with Run64BitRunTime property = False.
Do let me know the solution please. It will be of great help as we are proposing this tool in a migration project.

    I found the solution. Thanks
You don't need office on your server (not recommended and not supported). You should install
Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable for excel (xlsx) files and then use the Excel
This download will install a set of components that facilitate the transfer of data between existing Microsoft Office files such as Microsoft Office Access 2010 (*.mdb and *.accdb) files and Microsoft Office Excel 2010 (*.xls, *.xlsx, and *.xlsb) files to
other data sources such as Microsoft SQL Server. Connectivity to existing text files is also supported. ODBC and OLEDB drivers are installed for application developers to use in developing their applications with connectivity to Office file formats.

  • Install Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable after install Office 2013

    Hello, everyone.
I have application, that works fine with Microsoft Office 2010. This application uses .mdb format for databases.
When Microsoft Office 2013 was installed, apps began works incorrect. Can I install Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable
on a workstation with Office 2013 already installed?

    Hi,
Based on my tested, I could install Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable with
Office 2013 side by side successful. ( Note: Do not mix 32bit and 64bit version )
As far as I know, MDB format is used for Access 2003, there might be some compatibility issues when opening with Office 2013. I recommend you convert it to ACCDB format to test.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in

  • Very odd things happening to my iPod...

Well, I'm not going to lie, this started off with me dropping my iPod onto a hardwood floor. Since it's relevant, the song playing at the time was "Deliverance" by Opeth. About 15 minutes later, I turned on my iPod and played the same song. It went to the play screen, stood at 0:00 for about 10 seconds, then returned to the menu. I figured well, I can listen to it later, so I selected another song from the same artist. The exact same thing happened. I figured maybe the fall had injured this artist's files in some way, so I played a different song by a different artist. It stood at 0:00 for about a second, then started playing, as usual. When the song was finished, I played a different song by the new artist and the same thing happened to this song as did what happened to the Opeth songs. I figured I'd give the thing a little rest, so I went to bed (this was last night) and woke up again this morning, eager to see if it was working. I picked it up, selected a song, and it played perfectly. Everything seemed to be in order. Unfortunately, about an hour ago, I decided to put some new songs in, so I plugged my iPod into the computer. Nothing happened. The computer played the characteristic noise, and my ipod is saying it's being charged and "Do not disconnect", but the computer is saying it doesn't exist. No tab under "Purchased Music", no device registered in My Computer, nothing. I tried a few help topics on this website that seemed relevant, but nothing seemed to be able to pinpoint exactly what I had wrong. I figured it might be a little messed up on my current computer, so I moved it to my other computer, exactly the same except for it is another system. Same results. I know it's from the iPod itself then.
I just "Restored iPod to factory condition" (Apparently my computer could recognize it was plugged in for that). I'm having the same effect. Is there something I can do to fix my iPod, or do I need to buy a new one?

If you've completely restored and resynced your iPod (and it did indeed resync all the music properly) but still won't play right then it is indeed in need of repair or replacement.
Dropping an iPod isn't a Good Idea but it does happen. And things do break.

  • List of odd stuff happening after a clean install

Hey I just got my Powerbook G4 back from repair, it needed a new hard drive. Anyways I've noticed some odd behavior since I have gotten it back from apple.
First they saved the Admins short name as "a" which is really annoying anyway I can change the Admin first name?
Second I had iMovie it was on my dock and I simply dragged it off like any other program and now I don't have iMovie installed. Never happened to me before.
Third I keep getting this keychain error where it resets EVERYTHING! My music library, mail settings, its very annoying and I'm not sure what to do about it. Last time it happened Safari had frozen and I had to force quit it. When I re-opened it I got the keychain message.
Fourth, in the finder i lost the typical folders, "Photos, Music, Movies" I don't know why.
I think there is some other stuff, but seeing as I got my computer repaired from apple and this wierd stuff happening I was thinking something else might be wrong. Should I re-install everything all over again?
Edit: The keychain problem is most aggravating not only because I have to redo settings for every program but also say i copied music to Itunes, and it's in the folder if i am to copy it again then will it make duplicates? I'm afraid of having dozens of copies on my computer at this point.

I'd reinstall it anyway, so I can choose which languages, apps, fonts etc I get. iMovie will be on your original software restore CD, that came with your computer or on an iLife CD, you might have purchased later on.
Looks like transferring your old data from CD -or whatever you've chosen before you sent your computer to Apple- isn't too complicated, so reinstalling shouldn't take all that long. You have got a backup, so you can choose to "delete and install", right?!
Easier and more reliable than solving all your other issues.

  • Odd thing happening to my Open dialog box in Photoshop

I use Photoshop under Mac OS 10.6.8, and every time I bring up the Open dialog box, the file window (which is always set to List View) has the Name column all scrunched up to the point where all the filenames are mostly hidden. I have to expand the column every time to see what I'm doing. Photoshop is supposed to remember your window settings, but it doesn't for me. The next time I bring up the Open dialog box, the Name column is all scrunched up again. It only does this with the Open box; not the Save box. And it only happens with Photoshop, and only one this one computer. I'm not sure if this is a problem with Photoshop, or the OS, or some third party thing. Anyone have any ideas?

It has everything to do with that thick black arrow on which you wrote RRRGH!

  • Strange things happen after "pacman -Syyu"...

Hello everyone... After upgrading a few days ago with pacman, my Arch has become a little bit strange... I change some icons in my desktop from place to place (ex, from upper right corner to left lower corner) and they stay, but when i loggof and loggin they return to their previous place, dont know why... Also, my keyboard layout is portuguese, and every time i loggoff and login it adds us keyboard layout, and it switches my layout, although it keeps portuguese as default option...weird... Cant find info about this, is it only me? My machines description...
Asus F3S laptop; nVidia GeForce 8600m; Arch Linux(main)+Ubuntu+XP Grub boot; Gnome; TV Out enabled.

I dont have compiz enabled, i use metacity... Tried to downgrade metacity, but its has too much dependencies, dont want to unstable my system, i'll just go along with this, its annoying but it works.
When i first installed arch i used XFCE and loved it for is simplicity and speed. But maybe because i was a Ubuntu user, i felt that basic things were missing in Thunar and decided to switch to Gnome. Lost some speed, but nothing compared to Ubuntu, which i still think its an amazing distro, but arch as cutting edge speed...

  • Horrible things happening after installing Mac OS X 10.6.6

After I installed the update, my computer began to freeze almost every other minute. It was horrible. It slowed down everything. All the apps would freeze. The beach ball of death as it is known would pop up almost everytime I did anything. Spotlight and the Dock were the worst.
I tried everything. I have finally reverted back to 10.6.5 and things seem to be working ok. Did everyone else have this problem?
I am not even sure that what I've done has fixed my issues. I love Apple products but this made me lose a lot of faith.

Jose, No one else seems to be reporting bad experiences so there is something defective in your system. My suggestions:—
    1 Repair permissions (Disk Utility)
2 Zap the pRAM (restart holding down option-command-P-R)
    3 DiskWarrior
    4 Back up, re-format, re-install

  • Weird things happening after upgrade to v1.9

Before I start, here are my system specs:
    875P Neo FIS2R v1.9
    P4B 2.4Ghz running stock 533Mhz FSB
    2x Kingmax DDR400 running 333Mhz DC
    ASUS V8460 GF4Ti4600 128Mb (No Over Clock)
    120Gb Seagate SATA 7200.7
    Creative SB Audigy
    Enermax 431W PSU
    Rest not important!
Anyhow, I upgraded to the 1.9 from the 1.8 and for whatever reason, now when I cold start the computer, I get 2 sets of double clicks coming from the PC Speaker and slowing the boot process.  To clarify this some, I push the PrOn button and you will hear 2 clicking like sounds say 1/2 a second apart and then a pause and then it will do it again.  After this, it will finally initialise the video and start posting as normal.  All up, it takes about 5-10 seconds to get over this initial problem.  It also now takes much longer to detect the SATA HDD.  Around 6-7 seconds as oppsed to no delay with the 1.8 bios.
This really hasn't affected the use of the computer but why is it doing this.  The really strange thing about it all is that sometimes it makes these clicking noises and other times it just boots normally.
I cleared the CMOS and reset all the bios settings.  I have since tried a few different settings with very mixed results.  Unfortuantely though, the problem still rears its head every now and then.  I am thinking of reflashing back to v1.8 but I thought I would see if anyone else has experienced this strange behaviour.
    Thanx.

Thanx for your post REILLY875 but this problem I have oocurs the minute you turn on the computer, before it even starts to Power On Self Test.  I can assure it has nothing to do with the loading of Windows drivers etc.
This delay I mentioned occurs from the moment I turn on the computer with the PrOn switch to the time it starts posting.  Once it starts the post procedure, all is then fine and it continues on to boot from the hard drive with no problems.
I made mention of the fact that it now also takes longer for the bios to detect the SATA drive, quite likely a minor fix on MSIs behalf due to some HDDs not spinning up quick enough causing HDD detection and boot problems.  I have read about this.  It could be they deliberatley added a delay to this detection process.  Not quite sure.
But in any case though, whilst this unusual sound I get from the speaker isn't a problem, it is quite strange as you say and is clearly not normal.  The really annoying thing is that it does it sometimes and not others.  I really hate intermittent type problems like this one.
I guess at the end of the day, unless your running a P4EE, what was the point of updating the bios.  I know all us hardcore computer enthusiasts do it because that's just what we do.  It's just a shame it wasn't more fool proof.
    Thanx.
