Office 2011 and Yosemite

friends would tell them the error you have with Yosemite and Office 2011 either program package are cut when they load the fonts. know how to fix it? I have already downloaded all the update and has no solution. Help please

I am still having huge issues. There is 55 Gb available after I had gone through and deleted stuff off my hard drive so it cant be a storage problem.
I am really upset with this whole issue as it is making it virtually impossible for me to work from home so I am spending 28 hours a day in my office.
Not fun.
Does anyone have any other suggestions please? When will Yosemite be fixed so that this stops happening on Macbook Pros/ I cant afford a new laptop and this is not very old at all. .
I need to be able to save files, I also need to be able to access the full width of the screen and a raft of other things that are now impossible.

Simplest way is to use Target Disk mode:
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode - Apple Support
and hook to another Mac and use CCC or SuperDuper and clone your HD to another drive.
You could also pull the drive out of your MBP and use an external USB case or SATA - USB dongle to hook it to another Mac.

Did you actually run the installer? If so, there should be a Microsoft Office 2011 folder in your Applications folder. Have you checked there and confirmed that the folder does not exist? If it does not, try running the Office installer again. Note that if all you did is open the disk image file, you have to now go to the image (which looks like a drive in Finder) and then run the installer.

Thank you - that all makes sense. It is, indeed, exactly what I did when I upgraded.
I'm also writing this on the machine that crashed a few minutes ago (I posted the crash in another thread). I got back with a 'safe boot' - as I have done a few times before.
I've also de-installed little snitch (and then done a safe-boot & then re-boot ) since that seemed involved. I de-installed Adobe flash, since that seemed to be a problem - I then re-installed the later, apparently fixed, flash. The most recent crashes don't seeme to have a problem with flash any more.
I've posted the various ( generally different ) crashes. I also posted a summary of the similar lines that turn up in most of the crashes.
Unfortuantely, I'm actually trying to use the machine to meet some urgent deadlines and all this is not making it at all easy.
I had had great hopes for 10.7.2 - I thought that the crashes must be pretty common, so would have a common aetiology. There do seem to have been some fundamental changes to the file sytem and to the video interface (that seems to cause problems to brand new iMacs as well as to my 2009 iMac).

Difficulty in saving document in Microsoft Office 2011 after Yosemite was updated

Is anyone experiencing the same problem as I. When I edit a document in MS office 2011 for Mac and click save us, I get a "shaking" picture of the folders and I cannot type in the new file name right away. Even if I want to cancel the "save as" procedure, it takes a long time before the computer responds. I didn't experience this before I updated with Yosemite and updated my MS Office 2011.

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
And/or... Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

If I have already installed MS Office 2011 and have no more install license agreements and I install Lion will I have to purchase office again to reinstall?

I didn't have to. Office '11 kept on working with no problems after I installed Lion.

Office 2011 and WPAD Autoproxy

We have a problem where Office 2011 will not communicate to EWS with "Automatic Proxy Discovery" enabled in the network proxy settings.
* Outlook 2011 v14.2.4
* OSX 10.8.2
Before you ask, the network, DNS, Exchange etc. is working 100%.
* WPAD or PAC config works on all devices, operating systems and browsers on that network (Win7, OSX, iOS, Droid etc.) - this includes Outlook 2011 on OSX 10.6 and 10.7.
* Same behaviour with OSX 10.8 clean install or 10.6/10.7 upgrade.
* Safari, Firefox and Chrome all work fine with WPAD on the same installation.
* Outlook 2011 works with manual proxy settings on same installation.
=> Outlook 2011 + OSX 10.8 + WPAD = Broken.
n.b. I have generated the same question with Microsoft Community forums and the verdict is it's a Mountain Lion problem.

I think I am having the same issue - already since office 2008. I hoped 2011 will solve the issue but it didn't. As soon as I try to paste from Mail, Safari, Text Edit Word hangs with 100% CPU showing the beach ball. This happens on a new user account as well, pasting from firefox e.g. works fine though.
I tried every single solution tip I found from the internet including reinstalling office (removed every office related file I found), taking care of font issues, cleaned font cache and even user caches using applejack in single user mode: Nothing helped.
As I found out during my research MS blames Apple and vice versa and paying customers are stranded...
Is there really no working solution for this except reinstalling OSX or buying a new machine!?
PS all software is updated OSX 10.6.7 and office 14.1.0 SP 1

Trying to delete MS Office 2011 and keep getting a mbuinstrument error saying it is still running?

I have a trial version of MS Office 2011 on my MAC (OS version 10.6). I am trying to remove this from my system. I have followed all the instructions from Microsoft to the tee. Now when I go to empty my trash I get the following message "The operation can’t be completed because the item “mbuinstrument” is in use." What do I do? As of right now I stop the removal because I am not sure what this file is. Can someone please tell me what to do here, please?

I first encountered this problem too, but after checking through several files of mine I found this file called Microsoft User Identity or something like that within my documents folder. After deleting this I was able to clear my trash.
Pretty much just search your entire computer for any Microsoft office or word related files and delete them.

I recently had to update to office 2011 and outlook. All went well but now I cannot send via outlook but apple mail works ok and outlook receive is working. Can anyone help?

I recently had to update to os10.10 and consequently office 2011 with outlook. All was going well with the outlook mail until yesterday when the outlook send mail stopped working, receive works ok. I get error code 3259 and the message "an operation on the server timed out. the server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic." In the details "Mail could not be sent. Account name: "[email protected]" The send failure occurs on my yahoo accounts, gmail accounts and comcast accounts. Both send and receive work ok on apple mail. Can anyone help me sort this and avoid going to microsoft support?

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

When you next have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Office 2011 and Safari downloads not working

I am using Safari and recently installed Office for Mac 2011. There is a website I visit to download Excel reports and previously with Office 2008 I would download and it would open in Excel without any issues. However, since I upgraded to 2011 the file no longer downloads with a .xls extension (in fact, it has no extension at all). When I try to open the file it isn't associated with any program. When I open it with TextEdit it looks like HTML. If I add .xls extension to the end of the file, however, it will open in Excel 2011 normally. Any thoughts on how to fix this without having to add the .xls extension every time? Thank you!

i am having the same problem; when i have to use the 'Export to Excel' option on our site, it downloads with .aspx instead of .xls; that is a Dreamweaver extension and i can't open it with any data only the column headings if i add .xls; if i use the 'open with' option, Excel is greyed out so i cannot even choose it.

Conflict between Office 2011 and fonts

I'm new in this forum and I need helps quickly.
I have a Macbook Mid-2010, I use many apps like photoshop and Illustrator, so I installed many fonts few days ago.
Today, I wanted to open Word and Excel, but without success, an error message opens and close the software all the time.
I repair the permissions, uninstall and install the software again but it's the same error all the time.

Microsoft office 2011 and other program issues

I have the new office set up on my computer and I noticed that if I'm copying and pasting into another program it eventually gets stuck doing that. It's like every time I move my curser it will select or drag stuff. I made the mistake of not noticing at first and it ended up selecting one of the icons on my dock and took it off. I had to restart my computer to get it to stop selecting everything the curser went over. Any suggestions or help would be great

Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Trackpad
Check your settings here to make sure that sensitivity is not set too low.
Also the trackpads do support multi touch so make sure you don't have a palm or other finger on the trackpad while trying to make your selection.
