Office 2013 & IE 64-bit: BAD combo to use with SPS (2010 & 2013)

Few weeks ago I have installed Office 2013 in my office Win7.  Since then, whenever I click on a document in SPS 2010, it’s open TWICE!
I was very annoyed because when I had Office 2010, I didn’t have this problem.
After some search, I found that I’m not alone because some people have a similar problem with SPS 2013.
After some intensive tests, I have found out the cause of the problem: IE 10 which is implicitly in
64bit!
Let me be clear, if I have the following combination, I have the “doubly open” problem:
Win7 Pro 64bit + OS domain joined + Office 2013 64bit + IE 9 or 10 64bit
If I have the following combination, I have NO such problem:
Win7 Pro 64bit + OS domain joined + Office 2013 64bit + IE 9 32bit
I have no idea if other combinations would lead or avoid my problem.  If anyone is interested to narrow down the combination, he’s welcome to do so :)
The current solution is to downgrade IE 10 to IE 9 in order to have IE in  32bit.  There is no solution if one has to keep IE 10.  Hope this post of mine could help others in the same situation of me and hope Microsoft developers
quickly fix the bug.

Hi Horinius,
Did you try to use IE 10 32-bit for this issue?
In 64-bit Windows 7, Internet Explorer 10(IE 10) has 32-bit and 64-bit together in one browser now. If you turn on “Enhanced Protected Mode” , you will have 64-bit tabs by default for IE 10, and vice versa.
For avoiding  your problem, you are able to enable 32-bit for IE 10.
Here are some articles for you to take a look:

I hope this helps.

  • Lync 2010 with Exchange 2010-2013 Migration?

We are installing Lync 2010 for the purpose of internal LAN and Internet/Federated instant messaging, video chat and desktop sharing.
There is no telephone integration and there is no Unified Messaging used in Exchange 2010.
Within a few months after rolling out Lync 2010, Exchange 2010 is going to be migrated to Exchange 2013.  Outlook will remain at Office 2010 and Lync client will be 2010.  We will continue to not use Exchange Unified Messaging after Exchange is
    upgraded to 2013.
Are there any steps required to keep Lync 2010 working normally after the Exchange environment is upgraded from 2010 to 2013 in this scenario?

    Hi
During the migration and post migration to EWS URL for the user i reachable by the Lync 2010 Client
And the outlook client is able to establish a Mapi session with the mailbox all should be fine
as best practice please have the Lync 2010 and outlook 2010 client update to the latest CU update
There is known issue when migrating from Exchange 2007 to 2013 good to know information

    Hi Ganapathys,
For the error "failed due to the following error: 80080005", please Make sure that Outlook and Powershell are either both running as a standard user (not elevated) or that they are both running elevated as Administrator. They need to be running at the same
integrity level to avoid that error.
Please try to run powershell as standard user without "run as admin".

  • What's your favorite PIM/email combo to use with your Palm, and why

I'm running a 7 year old desktop and want to give my computer's RAM and CPU a bit of a break by having a single app that can handle my email, calendar, notes, and todos.  You know, essentially what Outlook does but without *being* Outlook
I hoped I might get some suggestions by other Palm users for what software they sync their Palms with that handles email and is a Personal Information Manager, all wrapped in one.
    Thanks guys!
    Post relates to: Tungsten T3

    Anybody?
I was thinking of switching to Outlook 2007, but have been totally put off by the "subscribed folder synchronization" - I have several large mailboxes and when OL decides to sync, it takes 4-Ev-er.
So, anyone have any PIM/email combos, either all-in-one or in-conjunction that they like to use?

  • Problems with archive mailbox in Outlook, with exchange 2010+2013 co-existence

    Hi!
We have an Exchange 2010 environment plus one Exchange 2013 MBX server meant for archive mailbox purpose. (We are going to upgrade to 2013 but with over 20.000 mailboxes it will take som time. Therefore we need to co-exist with primary mbx on 2010 and archive
mbx on 2013 for some time.)
My primary mailbox is on a 2010 MBX server, and I have today given myself an archive mbx on 2013 MBX server.
When I use OWA, both my primary mailbox and my archive shows up and everything works 100% fine!
But when I try Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013, only my primary mailbox works. The archive mailbox shows up, but generates an error when accessing it:
"The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance"
Anyone who knows about this issue? Would we nice to know why it works in OWA but not in Outlook.
    Thanks!
    Trond Jenssen

    Hi,
Please try to recreate a profile to access archieve mailbox.
If it doesn't make sense, also try Uncheck “Download shared folders” and check it again.

  • Exchange 2013 mailbox takes a long time to connect with Outlook 2010

We just installed a 2013 CAS/Mailbox server in our Exchange 2007 environment and are running in coexistence while we migrate users over. So far I have only moved one 2007 mailbox over, a new account used for testing. Everything is working fine, OWA,
ECP, ActiveSync, etc... When connecting Outlook to a 2007 mailbox autodiscover takes a couple seconds and Outlook opens fine. The problem is when connecting Outlook to a mailbox on the 2013 server. Autodiscover takes about a minute before it finally finds
the settings and the mailbox takes about 30 seconds to open everytime. It generally times out, I click retry and the mailbox opens. Once in everything is good but the initial loading always takes a long time, double the time when opening Outlook with a shared
mailbox attached. All autodiscover is autodiscover.domain.com, Exchange 2007 is all legacymail.domain.com aside from the components that need to point to 2013. We do not have any certificate issues, well that's not true, at some time in the last couple years
someone applied a 3rd party cert to our domain.com root but not sure if that would cause this issue. Also, these are internal clients we are trying to get going with the 2013 mailbox, not external. I just applied a registry change that helped someone else
out there by disabling IPv6 for all components but that did not work for us MS KB929852. Any suggestions? Right now I am thinking of changing the internalURI for autodiscover to the FQDN of the server but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.
    Jeremy

Hi Angela, thanks for the response. I cannot post links or pictures as my account has not been verified?
The autoconfiguration tests passed, I will paste the xml below. Ping times were all under 1ms. When I entered the IP for the 2013 serve I received errors that the connection to Exchange is unavailable followed by another one that the name cannot be resolved.
I did this test by removing the Outlook profile and creating one manually without Autodiscover. I am able to ping the server by all names from the command prompt.
Our autodiscover.domain.com points to our 2013 server and the name is resolvable both internally and externally. Our certificates cover the internal server name fqdn as well as external names. I am doing all testing in the internal network.

  • BADI BADI_EAM_SINGLELEVEL_LIST for use with iw49n

    Hello,
Thanks to Narasimhan who responded to my reply to a previous thread.
I added 4 user fields to structure RIH_ORDER_OPERATION_LIST via APPEND structure.
I implemented method FILL_ADD_FIELDS of subject badi to populate these 4 new fileds. From the debugger it shows it is executing my code ok.  The only problem I have is that when I execute iw49n these 4 new fields do not show and they
are not in the column set to select.
I am missing some little piece to get these fields to show on iw49n. Does anybody have any idea what I may be missing.
    Thanks

  • I am an Mac 10.6 Lion user?  How do I convert a .ram file (for a bit of sound) into using with Quicktime?

Having difficulty with a .ram file.  I want to convert it to use with Quicktime.
I also have realised however that my pupil for a lesson (the file is for language-lesson) does not have a Mac anyway, so maybe she won't have Quicktime.  I can ask her to download the latter then.
But -however, the question remains, how can I hear the soundfile and make it compatible with Quicktime?
    Sincerely,
    Susan.

And just for clarity's sake. 10.6 is Snow Leopard; Lion is OS X 10.7. For future questions it will help if you are accurate in the version of Mac OS X you have.
    Regards.

I haven't seen any document with Project 2010 and Exchange 2013. You could still try the old document with Project 2010 and Exchange 2010.

    It might just work.

Yes, the license allows 2 installs for the owner's personal use. You can check this in the license agreement if you wish.

    Hello,
What server does “outlook.domain.com” and “autodiscover.domain.com” point to, Exchange 2013 FE or 2010 CAS?
You can also do a Outlook Test Email AutoConfiguration by the following steps:
    a. While Outlook is running, click the CTRL key and then right-click the Outlook icon in the system tray and then select “Test Email Autoconfiguration”.
    b. Confirm that your email address is in the address field, uncheck “Use Guessmart” and “secure Guessmart authentication” boxes. Then click the “Test” button.

  • Exchange 2010/2013 co-existence and Lync integration

    Hello,
I'm looking at integrating Lync Server 2013 into my lab environment, which consists of a mixed 2010/2013 Exchange environment.
    UM - Exchange 2010
    CAS - Exchange 2013
    MBX - Exchange 2010
    MBX - Exchange 2013
I've been reading about associating CAS and MBX servers with UM dial plans, when integrating with Lync.
The Technet articles, and MS Press documentation I've read suggests that
all CAS and MBX servers need to be associated with the dial plan.
Does this include the 2010 MBX servers?
As far as I was aware, in a co-existence environment between 2010/2013 all traffic is proxied to the MBX servers via the CAS 2013 role?
Does this rule still apply when UM and Lync exist in the environment?
Also, does the 2010 UM server need to be associated with the Lync UM dial plan, or does the 2013 CAS server handle this traffic as well?
    Thanks
    Matt

So, just the UM server in 2010 would be associated with the dialplan, you won't even have the option to add a 2010 MBX server.
The traffic isn't proxied by the 2013 CAS, it's more of a redirect, and yes this happens.  A lot of what will happen under the hood will be somewhat transparent, Lync will determine where it wants to send the UM traffic.  You can
watch this in the Lync logger by watching SIPStack.
The 2010 UM server can be associated with the dial plan, but you might not need it unless you're trying to recreate that specifically in your lab.  Exchange 2013 UM can serve mailboxes on an Exchange 2010 server.
I would suggest just deploying it in your lab and watching what happens, that's half the fun. :)

  • Installing 32 bit Office 2013 when 64 bit Office 2003 is already on my computer

I need to install Office Home and Business 2013 in 32 bit, and I already have Office 2003 64 bit on my computer. It sounds like it will automatically install 64 bit if that is what is what already on there. What is the best way to get Outlook,
Excel and Word to update in 32 bit?  Is it possible to keep the programs from Office 2003 that aren't duplicated on Office Home and Business 2013 and still install Outlook, Excel and Word from Office 2013 in 32 bit?

    Hi,
It seems that you have misunderstood it. Microsoft Office 2010 marks the first time Office will be shipping in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, not Office 2003.
What is the version of your Office 2003? If you want to use Outlook 2013, Excel 2013 and Word 2013, and retain the other the Office 2003 suits at the same pc. If it is, we can install both Office 2013 and Office2003, then remove individual components in
    Office 2003.
Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon in the Windows Control Panel. Click Microsoft Office 2003 in the Currently installed programs box, and then click the Change button.

Note: Although it is possible to install and use more than one version of Office on a single computer, Microsoft does not recommend it.

What do I need to do to install Visio Trail?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Which Office 365 Home Premium editions did you install? 32bit or 64bit? Office 2013 doesn’t support running side-by-side installations of 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Office. For example, you can’t install Office 2010 32-bit side-by-side with Visio
2013 64-bit. This applies to both Windows Installer (MSI) and Click-to-Run installations of Office 2013. If you try to do this, you'll receive the error message and be prevented from continuing:

To resolve your issue you can install Office 365 Home Premium 64 bit + Visio Professional 2013 64 bit version.

  • Trying to install Visio Professional 2013 on 64 bit machine but install says I have 32 bit office

I am Trying to install Visio Professional 2013 on 64 bit machine but when I try to install it says I have 32 bit office already installed.  How do I know if I have 32 bit Office installed, and if so how do I change it to 64 bit.
And how do I install 64 bit Visio ?

I believe for most users the 32-bit version of Office is recommended due to compatibility issues (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/choose-the-32-bit-or-64-bit-version-of-office-HA010369476.aspx) so that is likely the version you have.
If you only have the install media for 64-bit Visio then you may want to see what you can do to exchange it for 32-bit if possible - the only option for creating a 64-bit version of Office is to uninstall the 32-bit and install 64-bit separately.
(You can tell quickly if your current Office is 32- or 64-bit by looking at the directory it is installed in - 64-bit programs get installed in "c:\Program Files" while 32-bit programs get installed in "c:\Program Files (x86)"
    Good luck!
