Office 365 installation

Hi All,
I am on the process of deploying Office 365 using SCCM 2012 R2 but the problem we are facing currently is the earlier version doesn't get removed even after adding the removal command in configuration.xml file.
is there a process by which we can remove the previous version & then install office 365 like we do with other office versions.
Thanks,
Pranay.

Office365ProPlus is click-to-run (C2R) and by default will install side-by-side an existing Office installation.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219427(v=office.15).aspx
You can use ConfigMgr to uninstall the previous Office product and then install O365.
e.g. setup /uninstall
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178956(v=office.15).aspx#BKMK_uninstall
You could probably use the supersedence features of AppModel for the uninstall-old-office-and-then-install-new-office.

  • Office 365 installation not getting past installation prompt

    Have looked through the articles out there about receiving errors and so on.
    My problem is that I simply can't get past this screen:
    The password for my Apple account is correct however nothing happens after this.
    If I take to Microsoft helpdesk they say its an Apple problem, if I talk to Apple customer service its of course a Microsoft problem...
    In the meantime I have tried changing passwords, region settings and so on - surely its not meant to be this difficult?

    Thank you for the fast reply Gary.

  • Office 365 installation on Windows 7 with Office 2007 already installed on it

    Hello, I am planning to deploy office 365 business premium on 30 systems that are running on Windows 7 and already have Office 2007 on it. If i downloaded office 365, will it overwrite outlook 2007 with outlook 2013. Or do i have to manually uninstall
    Office 2007 before installing Office 365. I am planning to do cut over migration and make the exchange 2003 server redundant.

    Hi,
    If you deploy Office 365 to users, then the new Office and Office 2007 will coexist on the client.
    One thing to note, as you already have Office 2007, which is 32 bit, make sure the new Office 2013 is also 32 bit.
    Anyway, if the new Office has included all the applications(Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) in Office 2007, you can uninstall Office 2007 and just use Office 2013 to get a better experience.

  • Office 365 updates

    I have recently installed office 365 using the office deployment tool and downloading the files to a server share so I can deploy the files on each client machine as necessary.
    My question is now, how do I update office 365? Is it through another command like //servershare /download //servershare/config.xml or a scheduled task or just something completely different.
    I have been searching the internet for days now and it only tells me how to update the client from the server.

    Hi,
    By default, Click-to-Run for Office 365 installations are automatically updated. The automatic update process detects and downloads the new data in the background. The updates are installed in the background as soon as the download is completed.

    Hi,
    Found out what the issue was... not really a issue to be honest.
    As I am managing SCCM at the same thing, I have office 365, Visio and Project installation as a separated package.
    When I try to run Visio and Project while Office (Lync and Outlook) are running, it will instantly fails.
    Once I turned those software off, it works like magic.

  • Deploying Office 365 through TS

    I've posted over to the Office 365 forum but didn't get much luck so I thought I would come over here.
    I'm really struggling to deploy the Office 365 installation.  In fact, I'm having a hard time getting it installed full stop.
    So the process I have followed is:
    Download the Office Deployment Tool
    Run the deployment too (which extracts setup.exe and a template for the XML file)
    Modify the XML file to:
    <Configuration>
    <Add SourcePath="" OfficeClientEdition="32" >
    <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
    <Language ID="en-us" />
    </Product>
    </Add>
    <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
    <Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Path="%temp%" />
    </Configuration>
    4. I've then run the setup.exe /download configuration.xml - this seems to download some files (about 1GB worth)
    5. I then copy this entire folder to the C:\ of a fresh build and run 'setup.exe /configure configuration.xml'
    This fails with an error in the log of:
    C2R Client returned failing error code 17002
    I've tried to deploy over the network form a share with 'Everyone' access and the same result.
    At this point I have no idea whats going on,  does anyone have this working?

    Thanks for the reply,  I sorted it though.
    The XML file should def be the same (depending on your requirements).
    The issue I had was that I wasn't specifying the 'UPDATES' section at all, so it was causing it to fail.  I specifically added a 'FALSE' setting to the updates and it is now working.
    For some reason I just expected it would default to 'FALSE' if not defined, but I guess I was wrong.
    Anyway, for future Googler's here is my working XML file:
    <Configuration>
    <Add SourcePath="" OfficeClientEdition="32" >
    <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
    <Language ID="en-us" />
    </Product>
    </Add>
    <Updates Enabled="FALSE" UpdatePath="" />
    <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
    <Logging Path="%temp%" />
    <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />
    </Configuration>
    This XML will download and install from the same location as the setup.exe file.

  • Implications of changing UPN suffix in preparation for Office 365 & DirSync

    Hi,
    I hoping someone can add their experience and recommendations for implementing DirSync with a new Office 365 installation. My client's current UPN suffix is xxx.local. We need to change this to their routable internet address of xxx.com. I've read how
    to add the suffix to the domain and I've seen some posts about how to script this conversion.

    Is it as simple as this above thread describes? Any gotchas to watch out for? Thanks!

  • Office 365 ProPlus App-V 5.0 Package installs Lync, Outlook, Infopath and Onenote even though they are not selected for publishing

    I have created an App-V 5.0 Package for Office 365 ProPlus using the documentation provided here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219422.aspx
    I am able to load the App-V Package into my SCCM 2012 SP1 environment and deploy the package to a test machine
    Within SCCM, I have configured the deployment type to only select a couple of applications.  Notice that Lync, Outlook, Infopath and Onenote are not selected.
    http://i.imgur.com/1eMxUlY.jpg
    For my deployment type, I only selected Word, Excel and Powerpoint.  Looking at my test machine, those 3 applications now show up in my start screen.
    http://i.imgur.com/amZmxAT.jpg
    I don't see any of the other Office applications be default on my start screen, so I would think all looks good.  If I type another Office application, lets say access at the start screen I get, "No apps match your search."
    http://i.imgur.com/fxbWEvb.jpg
    But if I type Lync, Outlook, Infopath or Onenote, it shows me that those applications are available, and I can launch them as an App-V application just as I could Excel, Word or Powerpoint, the applications that I wanted to have available.
    This is not what I was expecting when I went through the trouble to create an App-V package.  It looks like almost all of the apps become available on my client machine, all App-V is doing is making the application button in the start screen a little
    harder to find.
    What is interesting is that for the applications I did want published, I can search for them by just entering a few letters of the application name, and they show up with the 2013 version label, see below for an example search for Word.
    http://i.imgur.com/0LeS05z.jpg
    For the applications that I did not publish but still show up on my client, I have to type in the full name of the application for the launch button to come up.  For example, I can't type lyn and expect to see Lync, but if i type lync I will get an
    option to launch the application.  The same goes for Outlook, Infopath and Onenote, and when you do type in the full namke of the app, it doesn't show the version number like Word does as Word 2013, it just shows Lync, or Outlook, or Infopath, or
    Onenote.
    http://i.imgur.com/QV1afuc.jpg
    vs
    http://i.imgur.com/PxgSmUc.jpg
    Can anyone from Microsoft confirm that this is expected behavior.  If this is to be expected this is pretty disappointing, because a main point of the App-V package is it is the only way to limit which applications are deployed via Office 365 ProPlus
    but from what I can tell, it really isn't limiting anything beyond the start screen for most cases.

    So it looks like the config xml files are the best option
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2013/12/02/announcing-app-v-5-0-sp2-support-for-office-2013-volume-licensing-editions.aspx
    You can now use the Deployment Configuration file to configure the Office installation. One question I often get is, “How do I disable msaccess.exe or infopath.exe from an Office install if I am not using the MSI package?” This can be done by modifying the
    Deployment Configuration file in App-V with entries like the following:
    <Application Id="[(AppVPackageRoot}]\office15\MSACCESS.EXE" Enabled="false">
      <VisualElements>
        <Name>Access 2013</Name>
        <Icon />
        <Description />
      </VisualElements>
    </Application>
    That will prevent App-V from publishing msaccess.exe on the system and/or you can remove any undesired application shortcuts from publishing on the targeted computer using the shortcuts properties by deleting or commenting them out. Once you’ve configured your
    Deployment and User Configuration files, you’ll have everything you need to import the packages into your App-V environment to start testing.

    I don't think it is permissions as I have seen on some forums because the share has read/execute permissions for domain users and domain computers

    Hi,
    Are you deploying Office 365 with the latest Office Deployment Tool? Try to download the latest version of ODT from below link, then try again:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36778
    A similar issue was resolved here, you might want to have a look:

    BTW, Microsoft Office 365 Community > Forums > Deploy Office 365

    It's recommended to download and install
    Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office
    programs.

  • Installing Office 365 on a different hard drive to that of the windows installation

    Hi Guys,
    I have an office 365 account and was using it succesfully on my pre-installed windows 8. My PC crashed and I re-installed windows 7 on it. I put the windows installation on my 20gb SSD and, as you have guessed, there is very little space left over on it
    for anything else.
    I do understand the technology around the installer etc when you download from office365.com, but is there no way to work/get around this problem and install it to my 500gb HDD?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need my office back up and running for business.

    Alright CharlieWright I think I have a solution to this problem!
    It's weird, and it's kind of hacked together, but it seems to be working. Use this solution at your own risk, I have it working and i'm quite happy with it. With this solution windows basically *thinks* office is where it's supposed to be (C:) but it's not
    there, instead there's an automatic pointer to where it actually is (your other storage device). It's called a junction.. hence the /J later.. anyway, here's what I did:
    1. Create a backup of everything in case this breaks your device. It shouldn't, but you never know.
    2. Download and install LockHunter (lockhunter.com), it's a software I used to simplify the process. Without LockHunter you'll have to manually end process on everything that keeps you from accessing the office directory.
    3. Empty your recycle bin.
    4. Find every directory that office references, I only had one, some people have 2, I don't know if there are ever 3. They're commonly found at:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office
    5. Run CMD Prompt as administrator
    6. For each Directory:
    - right click it (ie Microsoft Office 15 folder) and select "what is locking this folder?"
    - unlock it and navigate back to that directory.
    - delete the directory (send it to your recycle bin to relax)
    - in the cmd prompt type: MKLINK /J "Full original directory" "Desired destination directory"
    for example:
    MKLINK /J "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15" "D:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15"
    MKLINK /J "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office" "D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office"
    7. Create the destination directories manually.
    8. Test the junction, if you did everything right, when you navigate to the original directory it will look like a shortcut folder and clicking it will look as if you're still on the C drive but you're not, you are actually in the destination directory. If
    you did something wrong you'll get an error.
    9. Open your recycle bin, click the directory and click restore

  • Customize Office 365 ProPlus Installation

    Hello,
    I have Office 365 E3 licenses.
    I would like to customize the Office 365 ProPlus so it does the following:
    Uninstalls the existing Office 2007 Standard and Lync 2010.
    Installs Office 365 ProPlus, but excludes Access.
    Does this silently / without user interaction.
    How can I accomplish this?
    Thank you

    Hi
    We might be able to do this using the
    Office Deployment Tool.  There are just a few easy steps you’ll need to take to reproduce the experience of installing Office 365 ProPlus from the Office 365 portal:
    Download the Office Deployment Tool
    Create an XML file with instructions on how to install Office 365 ProPlus
    Create a self-extracting executable (.exe) file that runs the Office Deployment Tool along with the xml file
    After you create and test your self-extracting .exe file, publish it to your company portal.

  • Queries related to Office 365 Small Business Premium Installation

    I was exploring your Office website and thought to buy Office 365 Small Business Premium but was not able to understand one statement which was "Subscription to Office for up to 5 PCs/Macs and 5 Windows tablets/iPads per user"
    Does the above statement mean that If I purchase 1user license of Office 365 Small Business Premium ( Cost rs 750) then I will be getting the right to install it onto 5 computers. Below is the link for your reference.

  • Deploying Office 365 Pro Plus on Systems with Existing Office 2010 / 2013 Installations

    We're preparing to deploy Office 365 Pro Plus with our existing SCCM 2012 infrastructure. Many of our clients currently have Office 2010 or Office 2013 installed on them. What is the default setup behavior for installing Office 365 Pro Plus on these systems?
    Will any versions of Office be removed first?

    Hi,
    As a supplement to what you have got, Click-To-Run is a Microsoft virtualization technology which provides an isolated environment for Office to run on your computer. It allows you to run the latest version of Office side-by-side with an earlier version
    of Office that is already installed on your computer.

  • Remaining Installs Available on Project Pro for Office 365

    Hello All,
    I downloaded a demo version of Project Pro for Office 365 as I am looking to test/implement the software in my company. I have looked everywhere on the internet to solve my issue but I am unlucky, and therefore I am kindly asking your guidance on my issue.
    I am looking forward to install Project Pro, but I am only limited to install up to 5 users on my login. What is this limitation, and is there any way around it. My company setup is quite simple, I want to able to install 10 Project Pro for Office 365 licenses
    on 10 manager desktops, and I would like to link the primary account (1 licencse) to Project Online for portfolio management and other related PMO services.
    Am I doing it wrong? is there any other alternative to my situation?
    We already have MS Project 2007 installed in the system, but we are looking to have more collaboration and sharing services between users. Any other PM offering from Microsoft is welcome.
    Thank you very much

  • Office 365 University offline installation

    I have got an Office 365 University subscription and I need help in installing Office 365 offline. After a bit of searching I found out that I can use Microsoft Office Deployment Tool for Click-to-Run. But I don't know which Product ID I should give
    in the configuration file as Office 365 University is unavailable in the list given on this website -
    ht tp://support2.microsoft dot com /kb/2842297
    (I had to substitute the link with space and words because I was getting an error stating body text can't contain links.)

    I haven't tried it, but, O365University seems to be the same features as O365Home(Premium), so maybe this ProductID might work?
