Office for Mac 2008 Product key

Hello. I have the disk and I was wondering if anyone new of a site where I can buy just the product key and not the disk.
Thank you

Microsoft should be able to help you but I believe a key is just about as expensive as the retail package. You might want to try MS Support and see if you qualify for a discount. Worked for me with my XP Cd.

You could purchase any commonly available external USB DVD/CD writer, such as the excellent LG brand units sold on Amazon, for about $30 US.  I've used an LG writer for years to save wear and tear on my older Superdrive.

  • How to help my friend install Microsoft Office for Mac 2008

Hello, I have a friend in North Carolina whose mom recently got a MacBook Pro running OS X Mountian Lion (10.8), he will be coming on to join this discussion after I post it. He needs Microsoft Office for his mom and I just happened to have purchase 3 licenses (two of which I have already utilized). While talking to him over a Facetime call, I walked him through the steps of getting the free office for mac 2008 package from download.com (which seemed kind of sketchy). While the download actually looked legitimate, we ran the installer and it gave some kind of weird error message that said something like "Could not be installed onto Macintosh HD because the Mac OS X is not on that parition" (I'm paraphrasing my friend will contribute the actual message). Could someone please walk us through an easier (and preferably more secure) process? We just need to get to the point where I can give him my last license key. Thanks!

You will have to check with Microsoft but I think what you are doing is illegal. The 3 license pack I think means 1 user 3 computers, not 2 users 3 computers.
You might have better luck posting on the Office for Mac forum. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac?auth=1

  • Where to purchase Office for Mac 2008 nonEWS version?

I'm planning my upgrade to Lion. I need the non-Web Services Edition of Office for Mac 2008 so that I can connect to my employer's MS Exchange Server 2003 via Entourage 2008.
I can only find the Web Services Edition on Microsoft's website- but that won't work for me.
My understanding is that I need Office for Mac 2008 version 13.3 or earlier. When I shop online, the products offered do not specify the version they are selling.
Does anybody know a sure-fire way or place to get the right version?
    thanks.

I have Outlook 2011 and was unable to get it to work with the Exchange 2003. Does this mean they do not have IMAP enabled? When I asked the IT people they said that as far as they knew Outlook 2011 would not work with Exchange 2003.  I didn't know enough to ask about IMAP.
    1. How do I determine if IMAP is turned on?
    A. Ask the IT people if IMAP is enabled for your Exchange Server setup. I'm pretty sure it's *not* enabled by default. They had to turn it on for me earlier for a system I manage that only works with IMAP; so I knew in advance with setting up Outlook 2011 that it was on for me
    B. You can always just go for it in Outlook 2011.
    - Launch "Preferences"
    - Click Accounts
    - Click the "+" in the bottom corner to add another account, and select "E-mail" (do *not* select Exchange)
    - Fill in "Email address" and the sheet will expand
    - Note the "Type" field -- make sure "IMAP" is selected.
You may need to talk to the IT people if you don't know the servers and their ports for those other settings. But that's basically the way you way to setup an IMAP account.
Try this on site not over VPN to make sure it works. I ran into problems with email and other company systems with VPN because I wasn't going through the company's DNS server for my traffic. It's enough to test with OWA with VPN; if you can't connect with name of the server but you can with the IP, then you're not going through the company's DNS.
In Snow Leopard, I believe it was enough in the Network settings to move the VPN higher up in the protocal order, e.g. VPN, Airport, Ethernet. A more stable way is to add the email server and its IP to your hosts file (etc/hosts).
I had heard about Davmail, but was intimidated by it. 2. You say DavMail allows you to get email into other clients- will it do this once I update to Lion?
    3. On the DavMail website link it shows instructions to set-up for IMAP, but what if I don't have IMAP?
If I have to use OWA to get email into another client, how would I go about that?
    Thanks for your help.
DavMail is a little more involved in terms of setup compared to just using Outlook (or even Mail) with IMAP. The most pain free way is to convince/get the IT people in your company to turn on IMAP for you.
If they don't, then you might consider DavMail.
See if this helps explain what's going on with DavMail. DavMail basically is "interfacing" between Outlook Web Access  and your email client. DavMail will go through OWA to your (exchange) mailbox, and (here's the important part) function as your personal IMAP server on your computer. The mail clients like Outlook and Mail, or whatever you want, will then be configured for the DavMail email server, not the Exchange server at the end of chain.
So if the IT people refuse to turn on IMAP for you -- it can happen -- then you can bypass the limitation with DavMail as long as OWA is turned on.

  • Migrated all apps ok except Office for Mac 2008

I just bought a new iMac and migrated all data from my old Mac using Migration Assistant. Everything works fine except for Office for Mac 2008. When I try to open eg a s/sheet (Excel being the default app) Microsoft setup assistant wants to set up accounts etc. If I try and register the product it takes me to Microsoft Office 2011 purchase sitE which I don't want. Any ideas how to get 2008 working on the new iMac?

  • Error Msg when installing Office for Mac 2008 on New Mac Book Pro

Why Am I getting the message "Classic environment no longer supported"  when I try to install  Office for Mac 2008 install on a Late 2011 Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2
    Here is a screen shot:

And for what it's worth, my choice would be (and is) LibreOffice, which I've used for about a year with nearly complete satisfaction. Last time I tried it three or four years ago, OpenOffice had the ugly, unrefined appearance of a Windows application; it had no Mac interface at all. That might actually be comforting to someone coming to the Mac from Windows, but as a 27-year Mac user, I hated it. I don't know whether OO has gotten a facelift in the intervening years.
The intermediate step between OO and LO was NeoOffice, which I used for several years. It was OpenOffice with a Mac face, and I liked it well enough. LibreOffice is its further evolution, more compatible with the latest MS Office files.

  • Best phone for syncing with Office for Mac 2008?

I'll be getting a new phone in a few months and I want to get one that syncs perfectly and effortlessly with Office for Mac 2008.
I currently use a Motorola Q and a Macbook Pro and have to go through isyncing Office with the Mac versions (iCal and Address Book) and then syncing using Missing Sync. It works, but it's slow and not very elegant.
    What's the smoothest solution?
    - Mike

Just be careful if you use categories in Entourage for your mail, calendar and contacts and determine whether those categories will move with your contacts and other data to the iPhone when it syncs. I doubt that it will if sync services works the same way between Entourage and iCal because it doesn't support the category capabilities in Entourage which is why people had turned to Missing Sync for the 2004 version of MS Office 2004

  • Office for Mac 2008 & 2011

I bought my Macbook pro August 2010 along with Office for Mac 2008.
I received Office for Mac 2011 disc last Nov and have installed it.
I now have both Office for Mac 2008 and 2011 on the Mac. How do I uninstall the 2008 version????

In addition, try looking in the Microsoft Office folder in your Applications folder. Some Office 2008 uninstallers are located there.
Office for Mac has said that there is nothing wrong with having both versions on your system. While this would allow you to have both Entourage and Outlook email support, I do not really trust what they have said, as I think it could cause issues down the road.

  • Office for Mac 2008

I need to be able to transfer data from a spreadsheet (not from my address book) to create address labels. I have not been able to do this in iWorks so I have been told to buy Office for Mac. I have purchased Office for Mac 2008 Home & Student edition. Before I install it, (1) Will this enable me to do this? (2) I have read many complaints on this site about Office for Mac. I am a limited computer user, Am I likely to have problems? I have been using Open Office but can't find a way to create labels on that.

i think there is no problem with office mac 2008 i had use it it is very user friendly so don't worry just follow the installations steps.....

  • Getting M$ Outlook 2002 into M$ Office for Mac 2008 Entourage

Need to move all email, contacts, and calendar from M$ Windows platform from M$ Outlook to Mac Snow Leopard platform under M$ Office for Mac 2008 Entourage.
    BACKGROUND
OK, I've made this far. I bought my first MacPro in Aug 2008 and my MacBook Pro in Oct 2008 running both on Windows XP Pro under "BootCamp" and slowly playing on the other side with OSX Leopard. In Jun 2009 I bought a new MacBook Pro and running a subordinate Windows XP Pro under Parallels .. BUT .. for the most part have been doing more and more with Snow Leopard and FCP but have yet to move my mail, contacts, and calendar to the new machine while still running Outlook Express for email and Outlook for contacts and calendar respectively. Now it's time to make the final move to Mac but for now I shall go with....
    PLAN & CURRENT STATUS
M$ Office for Mac 2008 and want to run under Mac Snow Leopard. I've installed the software but need to get my material converted over to the new machine. BTW, I would love to try Mail and iCal but this is my move for now and at least it's a Mac app with some of my M$ Windows familiarity to it as Mac up scales iCal or it's replacement and then I'll go there when the time comes but for now this is a major move for me and I'm proud of myself for getting this far so quickly.
Step 1. I have imported all contacts, emails, and calendar from Outlook Express into M$ Outlook 2002 on the old MacBook Pro in Windows and am ready to move everything to the other MacBook Pro (new unibody one Jun 2009) and need the next step(s) from anyone who can help.
    Step 2. ???
Thanks in advance for any who can help in this matter. I want to make the transition quickly so I can sell off last years model MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Core 2 Due 250 with 4Gb RAM.
