Offline Web cockpits and automatic printing

Hi,
I am currently developing Web cockpits for offline usage (precalculation and download scheduler, then publishing via an Intranet) in BW 3.5.
I'm looking for a method to create printable versions of the web pages (as for instance via pdf files) that could be made automatic (push-button like).
Does anyone have some experience/idea with this?

In General i created some classes which references SAP Standard classes. i registered these classes in the information Broadcasting. this makes them visible in broadcaster an gives you the possibility to select PDF as requested file format.
And also i created an external RFC-Server which will later convert the HTML Files or xls files to PDF.
When the setting is executed the broadcasting precalculates the template and overhands me the html-files together with the mimes. Then i sent these files to the external Server which will convert each htmlfile into a PDF. Afterwards the pdf's gets merged to one pdf.
When this is finished i receive a Binary string from the rfc-server which i route back to information broadcasting which sends the file as mail or put it into portal.
It is also possible to convert PDF on the fly this means you are navigating in a template. out of this template you can call a helpservice which will convert this template with its navigation state to pdf.

If you want to precalculate a Template you can do that by using the broadcaster or calling a report.

Firefox not honoring "Offline Web Content And User Data" settings

Firefox always accepts offline web content and user data, I never get any notification regardless of the "tell me when a website asks to store data for offline use" setting (found in Preferences > Advanced > network).
I also completely cleared the about:permissions tab. Regardless of the "All sites > Offline storage" setting, offline storage is always allowed.
Here is a step- by step guide to reproduce my issue.
1. Make sure about:permissions is clear
2. make sure the list at: preferences > Network > "The following websites are ...." is also clear
3. Close the preferences window
4. Go to go to http://appcachefacts.info/demo/ ... No notification regarding offline cache will be shown.
5. Open the preference window, the list at preferences > Network > "The following websites are ...."
Will now be populated with http://appcachefacts.info (1.1MB)
This list entry persists even after closing the browser window and re-opening it.
This happens with complete disregard to the settings described in the first paragraph.

Firefox will store small amounts (less than 50 MB) of data without asking for permission.
*offline-apps.allow_by_default;true
*offline-apps.quota.warn;51200
You can toggle the offline-apps.allow_by_default pref to false to make Firefox ask.

For me, this is a real problem as I have spent as much as 5 minutes clicking on the little 'Deny' box in the request before it goes away and allows me to watch the video I wanted to watch (the little 'request' box sits right in the middle of the video box, blocking viewing of the video). Is this a problem with Adobe Flash Player Settings (whos 'request' box it appears to belong to) or a problem with the Firefox> Tools (Local Storage) settings? Note that Offline Web Content is different then local DOM storage and is only used on a few websites that run an application like the mega.co.nz website.
You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page or for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
*Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar
*Click "More Information" to open Page Info
*Go to the Permissions tab
*Tools > Page Info > Permissions

You can delete the permissions.sqlite file to reset all permissions.

Web services and e print not working on 7520e

After the update it instructed me to turn off my printer so the update could take effect which I did but my printer would not turn back on. leaving it overnight it was the same the next day so I had to unplug it from the wall outlet. I lost my internet connection and no matter what I did I could not get it to connect.I called cloud services who put in a network address of 192.168.223.1 and hung up leaving me with no printer and sending me an email to get my ISP server to fix.
I called HP support and they got it connected just fine but when I try to log into my printers web page it still has my
hp email address but when I try to get to the web page it leads me to Launch HP network check.
on the front of my printer it says unable to connect to the internet, enter a proxy address, my server does not use one.
I tried to disable web services and then enabled them again hoping to get a new code but no luck. In my own network it has the last digit different to the one being used and set as a static IP address . I was not able to scroll any Apps before any of this happened, is the server down or has anyone any ideas how to fix this. has anyone else got the same problem. The schedulled Apps printed off just fine before this.

Thank you for being an active member of the HP support community. I understand that your Photosmart 7520 printer is indicating that it is not connected since doing a firmware update last week.
Please start by setting a manual IP address and manual DNS servers. Please use this post with the steps and screen shots on how to do this. The screen shots are for the Photosmart 7510 but the steps are the same.

Background and automatic printing

hi experts,
I have scheduled my report program in background.My requirement is that it should print automatically at the scheduled time.
A spool request is being created but i have to manually give the print from transaction sp02.
When i run in the foreground, the printing is done aautomatically on the press of F8.
Let me kno how i can achieve this ?

what kind of printer do you have?. As I know, background printing is not possible for front-end printers. Please check this in transaction SPAD for your printer an choose one with hostpool l or s or u.

Is it possible to include Javascript so that my pdf will automatically print?

We are currently evaluating new ways to deliver our documents to end users.
Currently, we have a 3rd part library that enables us to create pdf documents from our web pages, and then open them up in a new tab. However, users being what they are, some don't print the pdf out or save it.
I know I can force a Web page to automatically print using some very simple Javascript, and I can see that I can embed javascript into forms and documents. But before I spend any significant time getting the free trial of acrobat to do a trial, and then have to persuade the powers that be here that we need to buy a license for acrobat, I want to make sure that this is feasible, and I am not wasting my time!

Thanks, (My fault, as I should have specified this.) Due to legacy reasons I need to use ie, and so I can't use the PrintPdf firefox plugin. So from reading the rest of that thread, the best method does seem to be to get hold of a copy of acrobat, and add a Print() script in each file, and open it in a new tab.
At least it gives me somethigin to try anyway :-)

The motivation behind BI Admin Cockpit is Easy administration for complex Enterprise Data Warehouse. There are drill-down to details to in monitors and even processing options are given. In this way the administration task will become easier and faster. How do I use the filter to automatically print email and .pdf, .xls, .doc attachments to my default network printer and to other network printers

I receive sales orders by email. I want to filter some to print on my default network printer and others to print on another network printer. The email body must print as well as txt, .pdf, .xls, .doc attachments.

You can filter messages to file them to a certain folder, but I don't think you can have Thunderbird to automatically print them.

I have a pc running windows 7. I got an Airport Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi and the printer is now plugged into the Airport. The wireless router works fine but the printer shows as offline in control panel and in word. The printer is a HP LaserJet CP1525nw.

This would be the correct setting if the AirPort Extreme is connected to a simple modem (one ethernet port).

I downloaded OpenOffice and am able to print documents (in particular, the same document I created in MS Word). I guess MS Word is to blame. I believe the issue is concluded, but I'd welcome any comments about the Active Directory, as I might have a problem
with OpenOffice in the future regarding that.

It looks like the work72a would work if we were using macs, but we're not...
And there is NO WAY my boss will pay $999 for the other one, even if it did work.
So, now I'm open to other suggestions. We have hundreds of clients that we do work for, and our jobs are organized in folders for each client. A lot of clients with the same name but different locations (ie., Fox Meadow OH, Fox Meadow TX), and each has a different folder. The files are named by dept and year (ie., 2012 Glass, 2012 Art). We often access old files (which, there are thousands of, because they have been organized this way for years.) We need to have the client folder on the page along with the file name (hence the file path).
The script that Carlos created is great, but there are too many steps. Open the script, change location and select info to be displayed (3 steps), close script. There are days we access 50 jobs and the script just added 5 plus steps to each job.
Is there a way to use a hot key run a script that will place the info when and where we need it and auto close the script? Or is there a way to display the full path (in the Illustrator tab?) where we can see which folder the file is in and we will manually type the folder? Or does anyone have another suggestion?

Lexmark Optra S 1255 and mac 10.6.8--not working? I have a 1284 cable, installed drivers, but it just swirls and states "printer offline"? Anybody? I really like this old laser printer. thanks for looking

Did you restart after adding the drivers?
If you open the System Profiler, under Firewire or Printers what do yo see?
(Apple Menu/About this Mac/More Info/Firewire or Printer)
If it sees them then you know it's a configuration problem.

I use a macbook, apple airport and epson printer. After several printer jobs, I get a message "printer offline". I have tried restarting computer. restarting printer and still cannot connect, I can print directly with a USB cable. How can I connect to my printer via the airport?

Delete the printer in System Preferences and re-add it. You may also want to restart the Airport.

Try this method and see.
Ask your Basis to set the LOCAL Printer in SAP.
Then go to that users computer and set the Default Printer of that Machine to the printer: #$%$#%#%.
Then once Invoice is saved, SAP will send it to LOCAL Printer in SAP, Then from there it'll automatically direct to the Default Printer of the machine.
So, for each user you can set the default printer as required.
We do same when we need to get a PDF output of Invoice. What we have asked was to set the user computer default printer as PDF Writer as & when they want PDF format of the Invoice.
Same way as mentioned above, it sends to LOCAL, & then to machine default printer (PDF Writer), where you can save the PDF.

BW Web Publisher Toolbar
The version of the toolbar that you use with the Web Publisher, depends on whether you store the Web templates on the BW server or the ITS server (see Determining Path and ITS Settings).
If you have chosen the ITS as the server, the toolbar has the following functions:
Symbol
Function
Create new ITS Web template
You use this function to create a new Web template.
Check out ITS Web Template
You use this function to check out an ITS Web template, and store it locally. Storing the ITS Web template locally, means that you are able to change it, by adding a new item, for example. You either overwrite the old ITS Web template, or create a new one. You have to store the new ITS template under a new name.
Check in ITS Web Template
The ITS Web template is checked in, and saved in the BW system.
Publish to ITS
The ITS Web template is stored on the ITS you select.
Display Web template in the Browser
The Web template that has been checked in and published on the ITS, is displayed in the Web Browser.
Copy HTML tag to clipboard
You use this function to save the item as an HTML tag on the clipboard.
Wizard
This function takes you to the Web Publisher Wizard.

If you have chosen BW as the server, the toolbar has the following functions:
The publish function is deactivated, because it is only used in conjunction with ITS Web templates. The other symbols have the same functions as described in the above table, but they refer instead to Web templates that are stored on the BW server.
Views
The saved query views that the Web reports are based on, are displayed in the Views field. You use the Switch Workbook button to get to the Open dialog, where you open queries in other workbooks.
Items
The items that are already available for the view you have chosen are displayed in the Items field.
Choose New Item to create a new item, and to specify the item type used (map, chart, table, navigation block, and so on).
Choose Change Attribute to determine the value of the highlighted attribute for the item you have chosen.
Choose Save item to save the item you have been editing.
Choose Delete item to delete the selected item.
Properties of the Current Item
In the Properties of the current item field, the attributes that correspond to the item type you have selected are displayed.
