Offset printing settings for PDF/X-3:2002

Can anybody advice me the best settings of PDF/X for offset printing?
Thanks in advance

The PDF/X-1a:2001 and PDF/X-3:2002 standards are based on PDF 1.3 .... settings, to print the PDF/X directly.

  • How to save print setup for pdf file so that every user can open and print w/o manually performing?

Can is there a way to configure the print settings (i.e. paper size, orientation, etc.) and save this setting as part of the pdf file? I would like the users of pdf files to be able to open the file and simply print, without having to manually configure the print settings.

Not sure if this will help. I got this information from the built-in help under Acrobat 9.
    Advanced
Lists PDF settings, print dialog presets, and reading options for the document. In the PDF settings for Acrobat, you can set a base Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for web links in the document. Specifying a base URL makes it easy for you to manage web links to other websites. If the URL to the other site changes, you can simply edit the base URL and not have to edit each individual web link that refers to that site. The base URL is not used if a link contains a complete URL address.
You can also associate a catalog index file (PDX) with the PDF. When the PDF is searched with the Search PDF window, all of the PDFs that are indexed by the specified PDX file are also searched.
You can include prepress information, such as trapping, for the document. You can define print presets for a document, which prepopulate the Print dialog box with document-specific values. You can also set reading options that determine how the PDF is read by a screen reader or other assistive device.
    Create print presets
A PDF can contain a set of print presets, a group of document-specific values that is used to set basic print options. By creating a print preset for a document, you can avoid manually setting certain options in the Print dialog box each time you print the document. It’s best to define print settings for a PDF at the time that you create it, but print presets provide a means to add basic print settings to a PDF at any time.
Choose File > Properties, and click the Advanced tab.
In the Print Dialog Presets section, set options and click OK.
The next time you open the Print dialog box, the values will be set to the print preset values. These settings are also used when you print individual documents in a PDF Portfolio.
Note: To retain a print preset for a PDF, you must save the PDF after creating the print preset.
    Print Dialog Presets
    Page Scaling
Prepopulates the Page Scaling option in the Print dialog box with the option you choose:
    Default
Uses the application default setting, which is Shrink To Printable Area.
    None
Prevents automatic scaling to fit the printable area. This setting is useful for preserving the scale of page content in engineering documents, or for ensuring that documents print at a particular point size to be legal.
    DuplexMode
For best results, the selected printer should support duplex printing if you select a duplex option.
    Simplex
Prints on one side of the paper.
    Duplex Flip Long Edge
Prints on both sides of the paper; the paper flips along the long edge.
    Duplex Flip Short Edge
Prints on both sides of the paper; the paper flips along the short edge.
    Paper Source By Page Size
Selects the option by the same name in the Print dialog box. Uses the PDF page size to determine the output tray rather than the page setup option. This option is useful for printing PDFs that contain multiple page sizes on printers that have different-sized output trays.
    Print Page Range
Prepopulates the Pages box in the Print Range section of the Print dialog box with the page ranges you enter here. This setting is useful in a workflow where documents include both instruction pages and legal pages. For example, if pages 1–2 represent instructions for filling out a form, and pages 3–5 represent the form, you can set up your print job to print multiple copies of only the form.
    Number Of Copies
Prepopulates the Copies box in the Print dialog box. Choose a number from 2 to 5, or choose Default to use the application default, which is one copy. This limitation prevents multiple unwanted copies from being printed.
    Thanks.

  • How do I change the print orientation for PDFs with mixed orientation pages?

I'm sure this is a fairly basic and easily solvable issue, but I've been searching for a solution and can't find one for the life of me.
The issue: I'm printing a PDF that will be bound book-style, and the file contains pages with mixed orientations (both portrait and landscape). When I print the file, the landscape pages point the wrong way, to the left of the spine, when they should be pointing down to the right of the spine. I've adjusted the print settings for multiple test rounds, and nothing seems to work. Here's a visualization of the problem (apologies for the bad Paint art):
What the book is doing now when it prints:
What I need it to do:
Here's the caveat: I cannot just rotate all the landscape pages counter-clockwise in Acrobat for ease of printing, because it would remove the ability to scroll through the file quickly in Reader or a Web browser, and the same file needs to be both easily readable digitally AND print correctly.
Is this adjustment a print setting? Is this a tool I'm overlooking within Acrobat? Is this outside the scope of what is adjustable? All advice is welcome, and please feel free to ask any follow-up questions if I explained my problem unclearly.

If you are trying booklet printing, try to rotate the pages as needed before you print to the booklet. If you are print booklets without using professional imposition software, then Quite Imposing or Quite Imposing Plus should be considered. I believe they offer a demo version.

  • TS3147 Where are all the print settings for my HP Officejet 5510 in Mac OS X 10.8.2?  I can't find Normal, just Draft and Best.

Where are all the print settings for my HP Officejet 5510 in Mac OS X 10.8.2??  I only have Fast, Fast B & W, and Best.  I want Normal so that it looks good but doesn't print so slowly.  Help.

    Hi,
Change the print settings manually by clicking the lowest drop-down within the print dialog (e.g. the application name, Copies & Pages within MSOffice.
Select Type/Quality and set the print quality as Normal.
You may seve the settings as a Preset from the Presets drop-down menu.

  • Standard/Advanced print dialogue for PDFs?

When you print an image such as a jpeg in Mac OS X 10.4 you get the option of standard or advanced print dialogues. One feature of the Apple's new standard option allows for rotating an image on the print area. This is great because it potentially allows us to print A2 on our large format printer without having to then trim it manually. Except that most of our printing is done from PDFs which don't appear to be able to take advantage of this standard print dialogue.
Question is, does anyone know of a way to invoke the standard print dialogue for PDFs?

It depends where the pdf is located. If in the Finder or in an attachment to
an email in Entourage, the message is ³You can¹t open the application
³Acrobat Reader 5.0² because PowerPC applications are no longer supported².
If an attachment in an email that has come via Safari, the message is
³Safari can¹t open the file because no available applications can open it².
In each case the menu bar is Finder or Entourage or Safari as the case may
    be.

  • Picking up the printer settings for Double or single sided?

    Hi All,
Do anyone have a solution for picking up the printer settings for the PO SAPscript so that if the printer can do double sided it should print double sided but if it can only do single sided, it should print single sided?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sudheer.

    Hi Frank
    1. To change it manually you have to deselect the following option:
    Edit>Preferences>Type> Use Typographer's Quotes.
    2. To access the option through vb script use the following syntax:
    Document.TextPreference.TypographersQuotes
May be this will help you.

  • Help with print settings for Panoramas

    Hi,
I use an Epson 2880 and I am trying to figure out the print settings for doing an 11 x 34in panorama print on 13" roll paper from Aperture 3.0.3. I finally got it to do one print properly, but the setup was totally counter intuitive and I can't reproduce it. I tried using "Custom" Paper size and setting it to 13" x 36", then using the landscape mode and setting the Image Size to 11 x 34". Any way I did this ended up with the image printing the wrong way on the paper. So I went back and picked "Roll" paper. This leaves only one field to fill in, which I presume is the paper width (it really didn't make this obvious in the dialogue.). Then I set the mode to Portrait, and made sure that the settings for the Image size were 11 x 34. It then printed fine. But when I went back to print another file, even though I had saved the settings, now I am presented with only one box for specifying the Image Size and there is no way to get it right again. HELP! The settings for this kind of print in Photoshop is also counterintuitive, but when you get it set right, and you know the settings, no problem reproducing it. I think maybe there is a bug in AP3 with regard to this sort of setup.

  • Is it possible to specify print settings for web pages?

Is it possible to specify print settings for web pages designed in Muse? For example, can you exclude background images from printing?

    Hello,
You can define Print Setting to page By Defining CSS Style in page Header by typing Style tag.
you can go to Page > Page Properties > Metadata  > HTML for <Head>.
you can refer to the link below for more details about Print properties in CSS.

  • Print settings for ALV report

I have a ALV report output with LINE-SIZE 1023.  But when I try to execute the report in background the output row is not coming in one line but in 2 lines. When we run the report in background I gave the printer as 'LOCL' (local) and displayed in spool.  In the PRINT SETTINGS I don't see FORMAT for 65 X 1023. Do I need to create one? If yes, how to create it? Or if there is any other way go get all the cloumns in one row of a ALV output.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
<b>Change the font on the X_65_255 paper size :-</b>
This tip was taken from the SAP-R3 mailing list, <b>and is by Sheila Tichener</b>.
If you need to use a large line-size to get all your data in I know the sap version of X_65_255 for hp laser jet 4 gives an unnecessarily small font . You can change it in SPAD (or copy to Y_65_255) as follows.
    <b>Example:</b>
    Choose Device formats, Change
    hplj4
    x_65_255
    Execute
    Double click on printer initialisation
    Change from:-
    # select Courier 16.67 CPI normal font
    e(s0p16.67h0s0b4099T
    to:-
    # select arial 24 cpi 15 point normal
    e(s0p24h15v0s0b16602T
    Also bold as follows:-
    # select arial 24 cpi 15 point bold
    e(s0p24h15v0s3b16602T
Also the error you get when changing a format in the output screen is only a warning and can be overidden by pressing the green tick.
If the sap standard formats don't fit your requirements you can create your own eg Y_65_170 . It seems to be the numbers in the name that somehow triggers which one the abap chooses

  • Don't have printer settings for Epson CX9400fax since upgrading to SL

I recently upgrade my operating system from Tiger to Snow Leopard (after a HD crash). I have an Epson CX9400fax all-in-one machine and I am able to print, but I no longer have the Printer Settings options as before - where you can change paper, ink, etc. I'm trying to print from Photoshop CS5, if that's relevant at all.
This is what I am looking for:
    tons of options/setting to adjust
And this is what I have now:
    basically just print.
    Here's the driver info:
Is this something on Epson's end that hasn't been updated yet?
I've looked around, both here and online and haven't really got anywhere. If ANYONE can help, I will be very appreciative.
Oh, and I'm a first-timer so please be nice :0)

    Hi,
Welcome to Apple Discussions. I had the same problem with my Epson printer and solved it by going to Apple Support [here|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4169]. You can rearrange your printer settings using CUPS from there. Also, click on the triangle to the right of the Printer Name window to get an expanded menu.
Good luck and a Merry Christmas.

  • Default printer settings for HP Deskjet 882c

All I want to do is set this printer to print in black and white by default. If I wanted color, I would use my other printer ... I want faster than a snails pace so I brought this one back out.
Being a PC for my entire life, this should be an easy thing to set the default print settings on the printer. I don't see them!
What I am printing is emails off hotmail ... tons of them ... going back months ... so please don't ask me to add an additional step here ...
Pulling my hair out here ... help would be lovely!

You are on the right track for sure. The claim code is in fact printed in blue, so if your color inks are low or empty it will not show up.
I noticed there are 2 version of the 6500A, I will go under the assumption that you do not have the 'Plus' version since you didn't specify this, shouldn't be a big discrepancy either way (let me know if I am wrong).
Viewing your ink levels is covered here, your Cyan ink cartridge could be empty : http://goo.gl/RjIhbp
You can still find the claim code on the front panel of your printer without color ink. Go back to web services on your printers display and it will show your "*@hpeprint.com" email address. The prefix before the "@" is in fact your code.
Also note that your code has most likely expired, which happens after 24 hours of being generated. Not a big deal. If your code has expired you will have to reset the web services in your printer, this will generate a new printer code. You can do this easily from the front panel of your printer.
Follow this link and expand the section “What if I lose my printer code before registering?” under “Frequently asked questions (FAQs)”
    http://goo.gl/0WUyIe
(*a note on step 4, some firmware updates may have simplified this entire step to be simply “remove web services”)
After enabling the web services again the printer code area will still be blank if you are out of cyan ink.
Regardless the new code will display on the front panel (under web services).
I hope this gets you going with ePrint. Let me know if you are having issues printing in color beyond this, or if you are still experiencing difficulties with ePrint.

  • How do you access full printer settings for printing?

I wanted to print something for the first time yesterday.
I've got 3 printers attached used for different things.
When I selected print it brought up a basic print box that let me choose printer, paper type and size, but I couldn't access any more specific settings - specifically one of my Canon printers has A4 paper loaded in a tray for documents and 6x4 paper in the auto sheet feeder - I couldn't find a way to change which paper source to use, and the printer is in another room conneceted via an Airport Express to save a bit of space.
Is this another 'dumbed down' feature of iLife '08?

The Advanced tab comes up after you press print on the 'simple screeen'.
