Oh Dear, here we go again!

After cocking my capital one gift up for six weeks, Ovi strikes again. Purchased an album, tried to download it, it wouldn't. £9.99 was taken from my account. Tried again to download but the option to do so is greyed out. Emailed Nokia Care, they told me to search my hard drive! IT DID NOT DOWNLOAD! Emailed them again, they replied by addressing me as a totally different person, so if Mr Stuchbury is reading this, It looks like they've sort of twinned us, like towns or something. If you get any Info on my album, pop it in a pm for me wouldya, Mr Stuchbury? And if I get any more emails for you, wow, like penpals even! Nokia connecting people! Emailed them again to tell them of their mistake, got a reply saying they do not respond to direct emails and I would have to fill out an online form. But that's what I did, on the 18th December. Unbelievable that a simple voucher through the mail on November 11th can still be causing problems. Have given up hope of Manila or the Irish helping, any mods out there can help??

After upgrading to Win 7, i could no longer play back music I bought from Ovi-Music using the vouchers supplied with my 5800XM and later N97, because the DRM licenses weren't there.
Couldn't redownload most of the music either, because the store only show me one album i purchased, but TWICE. None of my other songs show up for download.
Got three boilerplate replies that did not at all address my issue. Seems like Bangalore, Dublin, Bratislava or Manila (wherever Nokia outsourced to) NEVER read the full text of a submitted form.
After trying to get this sorted at least five times, i gave up. At least I just used coupons and didn't actually have to pay.
The fruit company, as a contrast gets iTunes Store problems sorted very quickly and efficiently and they quickly authorize redownloads and even refunds if music quality is not good (sometimes there are quality problems created in the conversion process).
I am not a fruit company fanboy but I do wish Ovi Music / Store  support were half as good and helpful as the iTunes/App Store support.

    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    Here we go again. Same old problem with FF updates. FF9.x.x will not allow clickable internet links. They are dead when typed. ALL IE versions have clickable links BUILT IN! Why can't you do it??? Don't blame it on "third party add on incompatiblity." It's not their fault. It is YOUR fault for not including it. Do not blame users either.

  • Well here we go again with the Usage

    I've had problems in the past with the meter saying my son and I were using 90gb a month. I finally got the matter resolved with the help of Sean via here and the overpayments were refunded and things settled back down again. That was last year.
    I've had odd spikes from time to time but its been fine, in fact we have (according to the meter) been using on average about 25gb a month (I'm on a 40gb usage limit). So I stopped checking religiously every day - after all, it was back to where it should be given we dont stream movies, watch iplayer, all the things we are told just simply EAT the usage.
    Then last month I received an email to say we had gone over 28GB!! The remainder of the month I was checking daily, we scrapped in with less than 2GB left by 31/10.
    So now I am back to checking the figures every morning and guess what... I don't believe them again.

    Hi folks,
    I have noticed that during PEAK hours, my XBox Live sessions lag like a [insert expletive here]!
    WHY, oh why do BT insist on throttling, nay, strangling their network to the point where it is totally unusable for anything more than basic browsing or sending/receiving emails?!?
    I work reasonably long hours and only get two days off per week, so when I have free time, I'd like to game in a relatively lag-free environment, but right now, this isn't happening! Just tonight, in a game of MW2, I was experiencing such bad lag that shot registration was all but extinct!
    I know that BT throttle P2P, but I don't use it and wonder why http and other protocols are being throttled as well!

    As I understand it, BT are only in breach if the speed falls below the "acceptable speed" threshold in your profile, which in my case, is 12000kbps. Even then, I'm almost certain that BT would offer the *cough* "solution" of changing you from FTTC to ADSL.
    Personally speaking, I think the issue lies with contention in the network, either locally or at a centralised point. Unfortunately, the only solution for this (other than throttling speeds to the point of being unusable) is to buy in more bandwidth from BT Wholesale, but that of course, would cut too deeply into BT's profits and in turn see us all paying more for next years' service.
    What is the purpose in selling/supplying FTTC when the network infrastructure is clearly unable to meet demand? Using marketing ploys to create this artificial/false perception of what FTTC is, a "superfast fibre service" (partial fibre) then once bought by the consumer only to be told that there are restrictions to be applied is merely lying. Even though there is a FUP many of the constraints once the contract is agreed to, are hidden from the customer. Then again this is the case with most companies.

    hi. checked all over here and did everything...in a nutshell...
    bought new 32g ipt...gave 16g to my daugher, who is on my macbookpro under her own account, but same itunes account, machine is authorized.
    i purchased the jan software upgrade on my imac. i copied the ''mobile application'' file to her laptop.
    i plugged in the 16 gig with the upgrade to her library and did a restore. all went well except no upgrade apps.
    i have not plugged in my new 32 but am concerned it may not have the new apps either.
    so am i stuck paying THREE times now for the apps??
    any new answers out there??

    before you buy it again, and assuming you have moved the authorization key and you are using the same iTunes account to sync the apps that you used when you originally bought the apps, try downloading and installing 1.1.4 one more time, then go into iTunes, go to the Store menu and Deauthorize this computer then Authorize it, again using the Apple ID and password for the account that was used when originally purchased, then resync.
    It that does not work, go to iTunes Store support and relate your problem to them.

  • Here we go again...cannot update 10.0.0.1 via GPO

    Per usual, I'm trying to deploy some of the patches released via the Adobe Gods and once again, things aren't working.
    I'm a bit behind in updates just becasue of these issues.  Everytime I try and update, I run into brick walls and it's always such a hassle I avoid it as much as possible anymore.
    My new struggle is updating our existing clients from 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.3.  I've downloaded both incremental patches (AcrobatSecUpd1002.msp & AcrobatSecUpd1003.msp) but get errors right away.  When I try to apply the patch to our existing install I get the error message:
    "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.  Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
    These are the commands I'm using:
    "msiexe c /a AcroRead.msi /p AcrobatSecUpd1002.msp"
    "msiexe c /a AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi /p AcrobatSecUpd1002.msp"
    I tried both AcroRead.msi & AdbeRdr1000_en_US.msi just in case something changed when I applied the AdbeRdrUpd1001_Tier1.msp update a while ago.
    So again I'm flustered and confused and don't know where to go from here.  I just wish this would be easier and not be such a headache every time I need to push updates down to the clients via GPO.
    Would having a program like installshield or Wise or some other similar program help with stuff like this?  If so then I'm going to definately start pushing my boss to approve the purchase of it!!!

    Ah, okay.  We got an email here at work saying that 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2 were vulnerable and to update to 10.0.03.  So I went to the FTP site to see what was availiable and saw those updates.  I didn't realize it was only for the other versions.  My bad.  Thanks for clerifying!
    EDIT:  Geez...I need to figure out what email is connected to what username and delete one of these things before I drive myself batty!

  • Here we go again - problems with sync files to CC

    Again I having trouble sync (uploading) files to CC.
    I get an error message saying that a file (every file) can not be synced - this is folloowed by an absolute nonsense error message - can't upload look at your file - really anoying!
    Is this the same problem as when the whole CC went down this spring and we all got stuck for months without this CC access?
    Does anyone know an effective way to escalate/report this error.

  • My second ipod (here we go again)

    Well I didn't think I would ever do it, but I bought another ipod. I posted on here several times about trouble with my first one not being recognized by windows (usb device not recognized) Finally took it to an apple store in Cincy (80 miles away). They said the port on the bottom of was broken, and for $120 they could send it out and have it fixed. Or I could turn it in to be recycled and get a whopping 10% off a new one. So what the heck, why pay that much to get it fixed, when I could just get a new one. So I bought a new U2 edition, worked great for a month, then it crashed. The screen said I need to restore it, so I tried, all I got was an eror message saying... "There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod. The requested resource was not found." So I called tech support and talked to them for over 2 hours with no luck. I kept saying that it seems to be a problem on their end if the software is not available to download, but they had me try everything from making a new windows account to dancing around it chanting in some native language that I didn't even understand, and of course never got anywhere. So, I drove back to the apple store (80 miles) (total miles now 320). The guy restored it in 5 minutes and I was out of there. Great. Then 5 hours later it crashes again, same thing when I try to restore, ..."There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod. The requested resource was not found." So what should I do drive another 160 miles round trip to get it restored again? Waste another 2 hours on the phone? Or go and get my money back and give up?

    You could exchange it.
    Before you do try a couple of things. 1st, check the settings on your firewall to be sure you aren't being blocked. 2nd, delete the iPod Photo Cache on your computer. 3rd, if that doesn't work, reformat your iPod in Windows (FAT32, not a quick format) then try to Restore in iTunes.
    Also, be sure the Temp directory on your computer is empty and finally, try this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304309

  • Here we go again, problems with Email STILL/AGAIN.

    Now not only am I still having the same problem of the iPhone saving my deleted email, the iPhone is now deleting my email accounts ON ITS OWN. I went to bed last night with two distinct pop accounts and woke up with only one. I just can't believe this. How is this possible? Anyone else having difficulty in these areas? I would really appreciate some input. Thanks in advance.

  • Noisy phone line, here we go again......

    Hi, all,
    I'm new here, so please be gentle!
    We've been going round and round on this one for over a year, wonder if anyone has any new suggestions....
    Basically, we have an intermittent crackle on our land line. Been going on for ages now.
    We've had all sockets rewired and replaced, external cables changed, and the cable pair back to the pillar swapped.
    Thing is, despite 4 or 5 visits, an engineer has never heard the noise. I've been onto faults and explained this to the nice lady in Bangalore, and all they can do is send an engineer, depite the fact it's obviously nothing local.
    We had the same issue when we were with Virgin for phone service, which suggests to me (an old IT engineer) that the issue must be between the pillar and the exchange, but what do I know?
    Apart from looking for coreallations with weather, time of day, phase of the moon and sunspot activity, I don't see anything else I can do to avoid some poor engineer arriving, running a quiet line test and leaving again.
    Any suggestions?

    New to Flash, old to everything else. Wanted to put a simple
    5 minute video clip on a site, in a flash file. I chose "import
    video", chose my video clip, which is labelled as a .mpg file. And
    when testing in Flash itself, video only, no sound. So I publish,
    upload, no sound again.
    Now, I've done searches in the forums here, and everyone is
    mentioning this problem as if it's local to their own machine and
    player. However, when I check this on both my macs, and my new xp
    install, which is bone stock, I still get zero sound.
    The mpg plays fine in Quicktime player, but the minute Flash
    gets ahold of it, sound is gone.
    I've spent several hours already trying various formats, and
    it doesn't matter.
    This is such basic stuff, it's hard to believe at a version 8
    and 9, this stuff still happens.
    So what's the secret? Do I have to convert the thing to a
    .flv format, or can I somehow embed it in, or keep it in Quicktime
    format?

    First of all - the statement of "...put a simple 5 minute
    video clip on a site..." - that's kind of
    an oxy-moron - a 5 min video is not exactly "simple" - it's
    large and there are several ways to go
    about this way better than importing it into a flash file -
    try exporting it as an FLV and using the
    Flash Media Player to progressively stream as opposed to a
    humongus SWF.
    Also - I do believe that audio in a MPEG imported to Flash on
    a *mac* will never be included on
    import. Pretty sure that statement is true - but I do not own
    a mac.
    regardless - if I had a 5 minute chunk of audio - the last
    thing I would do is import it directly
    into a flash file - make an FLV out of it and keep it
    external.

  • Photosmart 6520 won't print black (AKA Here we go again!)

    This is my second Photosmart 6520 and they have BOTH stopped printing in black. I have followed ALL of the troubleshooting and have the same problem. The first one I returned to where I bought it as to be blunt the people on the HP Support line were less than worthless and quite condescending even in the light of me informing them that I have worked in IT for 20 years. I cannot find my receipt as I would return this one too and get a completely different printer as this seems to be a constant problem with these printers.  It is under warranty however that involves dealing with the incompetent HP Phone people and getting my intelligence insulted again. If someone on here from HP can help online without me having to resort to the dreaded phone that would be great.

    I can't believe this! I create a case and you close it and tell me to go to the same exact place to open a case! This is intolerable!

  • Here we go again - signal problems

    After a relatively quite 2 whole months of solid service, two nights ago my signal started flaking out again.  Back to a single bonded channel on upstream at 57 DbMv (so yeah, barely hanging on at all) and the infamous (unrelated but miraculously always occurs at the same time the Internet signal has problems) X1 unable to reach the server. Called in this a.m., and was unceremoneously disconnected after 8 minutes on hold waiting to talk to someone.  I guess I have a new plan for the weekend - instead of getting any honey-do's done, I'll be trying to convince Comcast that there is a problem again.

    Well nuts - that didn't last long!  Internet blinked about dinner time, and we're back to the solid 57 dBmV on a single channel.  Then of course, completely unrelated, the X1 went out (RDK 03032 untul power-cycled, then RDK 03004).  Spent way to long on the phone testing, power cycling, etc. and the rep says need to send a tech "with equipment in case it needs to be replaced".  Yeah, my two X1 boxes both died at the same time along with my modem... Why can't they update the script to address LINE problems?  And of course, the earliest they can get here is Thursday.  An hour later, the TV is back online ... do I dare power cycle the modem for the internet side again?  Listening to the Royals on the 'net so, no, will power cycle the modem later.  Frontier is coming out Friday. Can't wait to see if I can get solid service from them.
    I did a few checks from our end and was unable to to see any clear drops in the pass 2 days. However, I did see a lot timeouts and drops on the modem up to late night  the 8th. If nothing has recently changed the we do surely need to have a tech check this. We would hate to lose you as a customer and this should be something that can be addressed. I also checked the area itself and was unable to see any similar issues with other customers, because of this there is a big chance that the issue might be at the residence. A tech going out would be the best way to determine the source of the problem. -FC
