OHS(Apache 2.0) on RHEL5.3

Hi,
I was trying to install OHS using SOA 10.XX Companion CD got errors like below
httpd/oracle/as/10.1.3/ohs/bin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libgdbm.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
httpd/oracle/as/10.1.3/ohs/bin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: libdb-3.3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Also was OHS(Apache 2.0) on RHEL5.3 is certified?
Thanks,
Bhanu Chander.

Hi,
Try changing the below open file limits set in include/linux/limits.h and include/linux/fs.h (paths based on your OS).
NR_OPEN = maximum number of open files per process
NR_FILE = total number of files that can be open in the system at any time
Hope this helps you.

    Has anyone out there got Apache 2.0 working with the SOA Suite?

    Looks definitely to be an issue with OHS Apache 2.0.
    * Shutdown OHS Apache 2.0
    * Installed OHS 1.3 in a new ORACLE_HOME.
    * Reconfigured OHS 1.3 to run on the same ports as OHS Apache 2.0
    * Started OHS 1.3
    * All works OK

    As there may be multiple instance homes and each has its own opmn configuration on your host, you may need to try this from your terminal console
    export WT_HOME=/u02/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_WT1
    export ORACLE_INSTANCE=$WT_HOME/instances/instance1
    export $ORACLE_HOME=$WT_HOME
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl status
    If you get the message
    opmnctl status: opmn is not running,
    then
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl start
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl status
    If you see that one or more components are "Down", then you will need to do:
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startproc process-type=WebCache
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startproc ias-component=ohs1
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startproc process-type=WebCache-admin
    Finally, you should see something like:
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl status
    Processes in Instance: instance1
    --------------------------------------------------------------+---------
    ias-component | process-type | pid | status
    --------------------------------------------------------------+---------
    webcache1 | WebCache-admin | 21846 | Alive
    webcache1 | WebCache | 21796 | Alive
    ohs1 | OHS | 21806 | Alive

  • To run OHS at port 80 using solaris role based access control

    Hi.
    I already know & have done setuid root to ohs/bin/.apachectl to allow ohs to listen to port 80. Now on a new OFM 11.1.1.4 install, I want to use Solaris Role Based Access Control (RBAC) instead. Is it possible? RBAC does work as I can run a home built apache2 httpd at port 80 withOUT suid root.
    On Solaris 10, I enabled oracle uid to run process below port 1024 using RBAC
    /etc/user_attr:
    oracle::::type=normal;defaultpriv=basic,net_privaddr
    Change OHS httpd.conf Listen from port 8888 to port 80.
    However, opmnctl startproc process-type=OHS
    failed as below with nothing showing in the diag logs:
    opmnctl startproc: starting opmn managed processes...
    ================================================================================
    opmn id=truffle:6701
    0 of 1 processes started.
    ias-instance id=asinst_1
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    ias-component/process-type/process-set:
    ohs1/OHS/OHS/
    Error
    --> Process (index=1,uid=187636255,pid=25563)
    failed to start a managed process after the maximum retry limit
    Thx,
    Ken

    Just to add my two cents here.
    The commando used on Solaris to assign the right privilege to bind TCP ports < 1024 is:
    # usermod -K defaultpriv=basic,*net_privaddr* <your_user_name>
    Restart the opmnctl daemond.
    After that OHS/Apache user can bind to lower TCP ports.
    Regards.

  • OC4J intermittently not responding to OHS

    We deployed a CRM type system into Production over the last few weeks. We are having the usual environmental issues, but nothing we can't handle. We are however experiencing one very unusual type of behaviour. Every so often, even if the system isn't under load, we get an 'Internal Server error 500' being retuned to the user. The user would try to re-create but could not.
    When I look at the OHS (Apache) error_log I see loads of entries like the following :-

    There are no errors logged in the OC4J logs. This is really frustrating and is becoming a very, very serious matter.
    The box itself has plenty of resources so this, to my mind, should not be happening!!
    Has anyone ever come across this kind of problem before? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    The OS is HP-UX 11.1
    App server version - Oracle9iAS 9.0.3
    Many, many thanks in advance.

    This issue is still occurring. Does anyone in Oracle have any input on this?
    Would the fact that we are consistently using Dynamic includes as opposed to Static includes, have any impact. We have a huge amount of dynamic data that would bring page service method sizes well aboce 64K, that is why we have the dynamic includes. I read that the Request Dispatcher will then have to work overtime to accomodate all the requests.
    Seriously, any help on this would be much appreciated.

  • OHS+WLS Configuration Issue

    Need your help in configuring the following use case in weblogic
    The Use Case is need to deploy 2 applications in 2 managed servers in a single domain, on same host machine
    Each application has to be accessed by a different name/host example
    http://app1.com
    (application1 on managed server 1)
    http://app2.com
    (application2 on managed server 2)
    need help in Configuring OHS to forward request based on host url ie(app1.com or app2.com) to specific Weblogic managed server application
    any help is highly appreciated

    Hi
    This post should give you an idea to meet your requirement. Only difference is the latest OHS (Oracle Http Server) is Nothing but former Apache Http WebServer used as front end for Weblogic Cluster.
    Re: Installing and Configuring the Apache HTTP Server Plug-In
    What you want is totally possible using OHS (apache http webserver). You can redirect to different backend servers based on front coming url pattern at apache.
    Most of the customers standard environment is have a Clustered Weblogic Domain with 1 Admin and multiple managed servers across different machines. These are all inside company firewall. Then they will have Apache Web Server in front outside of Firewall. This Apache Host, Port (default is 80 which we don't need to type in url also) is exposed to end users with proper webcontexts like http://apachehost:apacheport/myApp1. Within a .conf file on Apache side, we define redirect details if the input path patter is like /myApp1 to which backend cluster it should go to. If input url pattern is like /myApp2 it may go to totally different weblogic cluster domain itself. So its like one Apache Web Server with proper configurations can take care of all the applications across all the domains of weblogic.
    Apache Front End is used by many customers and infact this is exactly is what branded by Oracle as Oracle Http Server (this is nothing but Apache only).
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/index-091236.html
    Using Apache you are going in the right direction.

  • How to Enable compression on OHS ?

    Hi All,
    How can we enable compression on OHS(Apache) ?
    Thanks
    Raghavendra

    1.7 Can I compress output from OHS (ex. gzip)?
    In general, the recommendation is to use Web Cache for this purpose. There are other freeware modules (for example, mod_gzip) that may be plugged in for this purpose - but their use is not supported.
    From OracleAS 10g R3 (10.1.3): OHS FAQ

  • Intermittent delays in request getting from WSM OHS to WSM/ESB

    Intermittently, we are experiencing a lag of several minutes between the time a request appears in WSM OHS logs and when it
    finally appears in the WSM gateway.log. Then it gets to the ESB, gets processed, and a response is sent back to the client.
    The problem is that our user's client times-out and disconnects by the time ESB processes the request and therefore they never receive the response.
    Our environment is HA with WSM/ESB v10.1.3.4.
    When this happens, around the time a request is sent we see time-out/connection errors in WSM OHS Apache error logs:

    Can you try changing the port to 80 while creating connection.

    sayakHi Sayak,
    Read through the content of this in MOS: Integration Of Obiee In 8.1.1.3: "OBIEE content cannot be displayed in the IFRAME" [ID 1296232.1]
    Although applying the security setting is a workaround to fix this problem, oracle highly recommends to use Virtual IP or single OHS/Apache/IIS solution be adopted instead.

  • How to change 10g forms url ?

    Hello,
    I developed forms in 10g forms developer and I can call my forms from web browser with default url like http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?config=myform.
    Is there anyway the change that url like http://myform.com or something?
    Thank you for your replies :)

    Well, the first thing to understand is that when you call the Forms Servlet (frmservlet) you are calling a java application and not static content like an html page. So, changing the URL isn't exactly as easy as it would be for a simple web page. On the other hand, hiding the the real URL or redirecting to the proper url can be done fairly easily.
    All of these assume you are using Application Server.
    OPTION 1 - Hide The URL +(more information can be found in MyOracleSupport note 300326.1)+
    <blockquote>There are several ways in which you can hide the real url, but probably the easiest will be to use an IFRAME. The only potential problem with this is that some security software or browser security settings may prevent this from working. So, here's what you do:
    1. Using an HTML or text editor, create a static html file with the following code. Replace my Forms url with your own.
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>My Application</TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <FRAMESET  ROWS="100%,*" FRAMEBORDER=NO FRAMESPACING=0 BORDER=0>
    <FRAME SRC="http://someServer:port/forms/frmervlet?config=myconfg" NAME="redir_frame">
    </FRAMESET>
    <NOFRAMES>
    Sorry, your browser does not support frames.  Click <A HREF="http://someServer:port/forms/frmervlet?config=myconfg" TARGET=_top>here</A>
    </NOFRAMES>
    <BODY>
        <!-- ADD ANY EXTRA HTML CODE AS NEEDED -->
    </BODY>
    </HTML>2. In the Oracle home from where OHS is running, find the htdocs directory within the OHS (apache) directories.
    3. Rename "index.html", "index.html_original"
    4. Copy your html file to this directory and name it "index.html"
    It is possible that the html file being used is not "index.html". To determine the correct page, you may need to review your httpd.conf file as this is where the default page is set. Look for DirectoryIndex</blockquote>
    OPTION 2 - Redirect To The Proper URL
    <blockquote>1. Find and open httpd.conf
    2. Within the file, locate this: <Directory />
    3. Just below this line add the following. Use your own Forms url
    RedirectMatch ^/$ /forms/frmservlet?config=somewhere</blockquote>

  • Port Numbers Clarification During Portal Installation

    I have installed Portal 9.x. My infrastructure port is set at 7777 and my midtier port is set at 7779. This is how it was configured during the configuration stage.
    Therefore shouldn't I be able to access Portal through the port 7777? Did I do any wrong thing when I installed?.
    If I did then is there a way to change the port from 7779 to 7777 so that I can access it via 7777?
    Thanks.

    There are instructions on Metalink for changing the port numbers but they are spread out and hard to find and pick the right ones. I have gotten 2 files that I use to change my port numbers. Here they are:
    How to Change the Port used for Oracle 9iAS Portal 9.0.x
    1. Add the New port to Web Cache and map to the OHS (Apache)
    a. Login to Webcache as an admin user
    b. Select the Listening Ports link
    c. Click the Add button, and use these settings to create the additional port
    I. For Cache: <Select the webcache in use>
    II. IP Address: ANY
    III. Port Number: 80
    IV. Protocol: HTTP
    V. Wallet: <Leave null>
    d. Select the Site to Server Mapping link
    e. Select the radio button for the top entry (Priority 1) and click the button Insert Above
    f. Select the radio button for Enter Site Name, and enter the following
    I. Host Name: <Your ServerName directive from OHS (Apache)>
    II. Port Number: 80
    g. Check the box the HTTP entry located under the Select Application Web Servers Section
    h. Accept Remainder of Defaults and click the Submit button
    i. Click the Apply Changes button in the upper right of the screen
    2. Restart the WebCache Server
    3. Add a Partner Application to the Oracle 9iAS Single Signon for the new port using ptlasst script in SSOPARTNERCONFIG mode
    (Passwords required may be lookup in OID using the note referenced below)
    /u01/ora9portal/assistants/opca/ptlasst.csh -i custom -mode SSOPARTNERCONFIG \
    -s <portalSchema> -sp <portalPassWord> -c <iasinfraServerName:1521:iasdb> \
    -sdad <portalDad> -o <ssoSchema> -odad <ssoDad> -host <apacheServerName> \
    -port 80 -silent -verbose -sso_c <iasinfraServerName:1521:iasdb> \
    -sso_h <OHSServerName> -sso_p <ssoWebPort> \
    -pa <ssoPartnerAppSchema> -pap <ssoPartnerAppSchemaPassWord> \
    -ps <ssoProcessStoreSchema> -pp <ssoProcessStoreSchemaPassword> \
    -p_tns <tnsConnectStringtoInfraDB> -s_tns <tnsConnectStringtoInfraDB> \
    -iasname <iasMiddleTierInstanceName>
    Here is an example on a Unix Server
    /u01/ora9portal/assistants/opca/ptlasst.csh -i custom -mode SSOPARTNERCONFIG \
    -s portal -sp W18Wqn49 -c www.oracle.com:1521:iasdb \
    -sdad portal -o orasso -odad orasso -host www.oracle.com \
    -port 80 -silent -verbose -sso_c www.oracle.com:1521:iasdb \
    -sso_h www.oracle.com -sso_p 7777 \
    -pa orasso_pa -pap A2u3g00t \
    -ps orasso_ps -pp BRKU0C6a \
    -p_tns iasdb -s_tns iasdb \
    -iasname iasmid.www.oracle.com
    4. Modify the httpd.conf file located in the 9iAS Middle tier home to use port 80
    a. Edit the httpd.conf file and change the Port directive to 80
    Port 80
    b. Do NOT modify the Listen directive in the file
    5. Restart the http server in the Middle Tier
    The port has now been modified and the site may be accessed using Port 80.
    6. Login to Portal as an admin user, and reset the SSO Server Settings
    a. Login to Portal as portal
    b. Select the Builder link
    c. Select the Administer tab
    d. Select the Global Settings link
    e. Select the SSO/OID tab
    f. Under the SSO Server Settings section, modify the Query Path URL Prefix to use the correct sso port.
    The SSO Server is usually running on Port 7777, but creating the partner application would also change this port to 80.
    g. Select the apply, and ok buttons
    I use this for Running the script above:
    Windows Script to Determine orasso Password in 9iAS Release 2 (9.0.2)
    1. Paste the following script in a file named showPassword.bat and copy it in
    a directory. Please also ensure that ldapserach is there in PATH on your
    widnows machine.
    8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<
    set OIDHOST=bldel18.in.oracle.com
    set OIDPORT=4032
    if "%1"== "" goto cont
    if "%2"== "" goto cont
    ldapsearch -h %OIDHOST% -p %OIDPORT% -D "cn=orcladmin" -w "%1" -b "cn=IAS Infrastructure
    Databases,cn=IAS,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext" -s sub "orclResourceName=%2"
    orclpasswordattribute
    goto :end
    :cont
    echo Correct Syntax is
    echo showpassword.bat orcladminpassword username
    :end
    8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<
    Note that the "ldapsearch...orclpasswordattribute" commands should be put on
    one line.
    2. Edit the script and update with your own hostname and OID port
    OIDHOST=bldel18.in.oracle.com
    OIDPORT=4032
    3. Ensure that you have ldapsearch from the correct ORACLE_HOME in the PATH
    4. Check that OID is up and running before proceeding.
    5. Run the script, and enter the schema name as: orasso, and the password value
    is shown.
    For example:
    (all ONE line...may be easier to copy/paste from Notepad)
    C:\> showPassword.bat oracle1 orasso
    OrclResourceName=ORASSO,orclReferenceName=iasdb.bldel18.in.oracle.com,cn=IAS Inf
    rastructure Databases,cn=IAS,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext
    orclpasswordattribute=Gbn3Fd24
    The orasso password in this example is Gbn3Fd24.

  • What do I need for Oracle Http Server with mod_plsql on Linux 64bit?

    I am trying to get the OHS onto a linux box but I am not quite sure I am installing the correct thing!!
    I currently have a windows box running the 10g Application server but everything seems to have changed since then and there seems to be several different things to do with the Fusion Middleware and stuff. I've tried to find an overview in plain english of what all these things are but all I can find are lots of marketing buzzwords!
    All in need to to be able to run the OHS with the mod_plsql so I can run my apex application. I'd be greatfull if someone could point me in the right direction for what I need to install!
    The box it is going on is a CentOS Linux 64bit machine. I've download and installed Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Rel 1 (10.3.3) using the generic installer for the 64 bit java but there seems to be no http server despite it saying there is! Most likely I am doing something wrong but the installer finishes successfully but nothing is running on port 7001.
    Do I actually need the WebTier instead? Is that the best solution for running the OHS with mod_plsql? Do I need the WebLogic install as well? Unfortunately I am fairly new to Linux as well which isn't helping!!
    thanks for any help
    Robert

    Well, you have two options:
    - Use the OHS from the OFM WebTier Utilities distro. (To use 11.1.1.3 version, you need both the 11.1.1.2 and 11.1.1.3 distros)
    - Use the OHS from the DB Companion Disk distro.
    WebLogic Server is a Java EE application with an HTTP server included, but not intended to be used as a replacement of OHS/Apache. It doesn't support mod's...
