OI have been trying to connect to the on-line chat, but no one seems to be there. It is 8:30 am, too early???
I am trying to 'restore' my contacts to a new device., The new device is a very basic phone: LG Revere 2. The online instructions warn you to back up your contacts from the old phone before acrivating the new phone. The actual instructions say to do the following before activating the new phone. So the instructions have you back up the old phone, then 'restore' the contacts to the new phone (seemingly before activating the new phone). When I try this, the phone indicates the contacts have never been backed up and I get an error code 216.
I am not sure whether I need to activate the new phone first, THEN try to restore the contacts.
Worst case senario if I get this wrong is the new phone does a back up and restores nothing over my existing contacts, hence loosing all my contacts. I do not want to get this wrong.
You can't restore your contacts on the new phone until it's activated; the phone needs Verizon service in order to do the restore. Back up your old phone, activate the new phone, then restore your contacts on the new phone.

I have been trying to log onto the Wounded Warriors Program Portal. I can Log in and then when I click on the rewards it tried to go to the page the just takes me back to the same page I was on. This is very frustrating. I am new to the Mac World so please bare with me. Please tell me there is help somewhere for this issue. It seems it is blocked or not letting me through. Both Mail and Safari have Activity Options that open a screen that shows you just how the site or mail is loading.
In Safari if you are having trouble with a site in activity you will see the count of items being downloaded - and if an error occurs it shows red.
On the top is the number of items it is loading or trying to load and the count should be increasing. If the count stops, and you don't have errors it may be that too many people are going after the same site and your request just timed out. Have had the time out on a news site when trying to load a most popular article. -
I have an ipad 2, MC769x it is running 4.3.3 (8j2) i have been trying to upgrade to ios 5 or higher but a) I don't have a software update option on my Settings / General screen. And b) when I go into itunes I don't get tihe options suggested on the forums. I really want to upgrade my ipad as I want to buy and install some apps that are only available from ios5 onwards. I have been a big apple fan but I am now wondering if my ipad2 was a mistake.

Most likely a hardware failure, & if so, you won't be able to restore/activte your phone. If you've tried at least two times, & are still getting this error, make an appointment at any Apple store, or call AppleCare.

How do I download OS X Lion faster? I have been trying to download for the past 36 hours without success.
When I tried to download and install Lion using the App Store, I found that it would just HANG when I entered my Apple ID, and would never start the download. It was never getting past the login. I searched the forums and found other people with the same problem but no solutions.
In troubleshooting it myself, I stumbled across something that worked for me. I wanted to just make sure I had the right password and that my Apple ID was still working, not disabled, so I logged in with my apple ID on iTunes. It worked so I then went to the App Store and logged in again.
Once I did that, the download started and finished the way I expected. Over verizon FIOS, the download took me about 40 minutes, and then the install took 30 minutes after that.
So, if it is hanging and never really starting the download, try logging in to iTunes first, then the app store. It might work for you too. -
I have been trying to set up icloud on my ipad but after I run the program, nothing shows up on my computer screen or ipad. Have I left something out?
Thanks. That was indeed the problem. A few hints for others with this problem. You can only find out that you need to upgrade, and upgrade, by cabling your iPad to your computer. Then the next Tricky part is making sure you have your iPad purchases saved on your computer. Then you download the new OS upgrade and you will get a "start up" type of screen on your iPad with a few questions. Nowhere is there a very good explanation that you want to then go back to your computer and restore your iPad. I finally did that because there were no other obvious alternatives, though all the warnings made me very nervous. After the restore command, I synched my iPad and I seem to have everything back, and I can now access iCloud. maybe I missed some instructions somewhere, but I found this process much more obscure than the usual Apple directions. Thanks for your help!

The message is referring to not having enough space on your iPad, not to not having enough space in your iCloud account. Purchasing additional storage in your iCloud account does not give you more available space on your iPad.
You can check how much space you have available on your iPad by going to Settings>General>Usage. If you don't have enough, you'll have to delete or sync some data off your iPad to free up additional space. -
