Photos are stored in your home folder (~pictures).

  • Where are the .joboptions stored on a Mac for InDesign CC?

Where are the .joboptions stored on a Mac for InDesign CC?
I put them in the usual directory:      /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings   .  .  . but they are not seen by InDesign CC.
. . . Photoshop, Illustrator, Distiller and Acrobat are seeing my custom profiles and any default profiles I removed are not there for those apps.
Even older versions of all these apps and InDesign 6 and 5 see my custom profiles.
But InDesign CC only shows the ones shown in the screen shot below:  (High Quality, the PDF/X versions[3], Press and Smallest size)
I know I can probably do a "Load" profile, but that's not the point and I need to remove the default profiles.
I'm in a multiple user environment and need to lock down the use of profiles to our companies select few.
Did a thorough search of the entire Mac and PDF/X- does not even show up.   Any suggestions?     Anyone?    I'm scratchin'  my head at this point.

      This was the correct answer:

@Maurizio – the standard settings, the joboption files with the brackets like [PDF/X-1a:2001] are stored inside the inDesign app for InDesign CC 9.2.1.
The path for these would be:
    /Applications/Adobe InDesign CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Resources/Adobe PDF/settings/mul
or with a Japanese version of InDesign:
    /Applications/Adobe InDesign CC.app/Contents/MacOS/Resources/Adobe PDF/settings/japan
If you do a right-click on the InDesign app you can show them with "Show Package Contents" options.
All other PDF joboptions that you are creating are relative to your current User Library. They are stored in:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings
Where the tilde sign at the beginning indicates the home of the currently used user.
You can access ~/Library, if you press the alt key when accessing the "Go To" menu in the Finder. Otherwise it's invisible.

  • How do I move data files from old iPhone? Specifically, the password files for the App mSecure from my old iPhone 3Gs to iPhone 4S?

How do I move data files for mSecure (a password saver app) from old iPhone 3GS to new iPhone 4S?

That article is about using your iPod as an external hard drive, to move files from one computer to another computer.  It is not related to your question.
You can't use iTunes to move song files from iPod to computer, except for songs you purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download purchases).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can move song files from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your current computer, add them to that computer's iTunes library by dragging the files (or folder containing the files) to the iTunes window.  After confirming everything is there (and fixing the data issue you mentioned) you can sync the iPod.  You may want to do a Restore on the iPod, if it might have a data corruption issue, which will erase the iPod's hard drive, re-install the latest software, and set it to defautl settings.

  • Can i transfer my iPhoto file from old mac to new mac using iCloud?

I got a new mac and want transfer my Iphotos to my new mac using icloud.  Is this possible?  How?  I registered both computers with Icloud.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately you can't use iCloud for this.
You can do this over a network, using an external HD, USB memory stick or DVD.

  • How do you move Lightroom files from old iMac with Lightroom 4 to new iMac with Lightroom 5?

Recently bought a new iMac and installed latest version of Lighroom 5. Tried unsuccessfully to move my picture files from my old iMac with Lightroom 4 to the hard drive of my new computer which has latest Lighroom software. Ended up with 2,000 pictures that are duplicates and the keywords did not transfer with the picture files. Can anyone advise best way to resolve this problem?

How do I move Lightroom to a new computer? | The Lightroom Queen
That is a very good tutorial. Installing a newer version of Lightroom on the new computer will involve Lightroom creating a copy of your old catalog that is compatible with the new version. But it should be very painless.

  • Mac wont boot. troubles reinstalling lion, want to reset my mac already.

ugh mbp 2008, never had problems till now. So i went into utility, and because i have nothing of real interest on my mac i reset the HD. it was partitioned i guess because i had my normal hd and bootcamp, which i never used anyways. also repairing the disk kept giving me errors. so after erasing everything, i went to create a partion, and was going to download lion to that. but when i try to make a partition it says "partition failed- couldnt unmount disk." I need help. I just want the whole thing to be reset, i have nothing to lose. what do i do???

milesmartin, did you ever resolve this issue?
I find myself in almost the same situation. I have a Mac Pro using OS 10.6.1 with 9gb RAM and three hard drives. This happened suddenly at a cold startup for me. The strange red/pink lines, mouse not responding, etc. I could do a hard restart (power off) and the problem seemed to go away. I have tried many tests with TechTool Pro and the Apple hardware disk. All test show no problems with hardware. I have installed clean systems on a new hard drive several times including going back to OS 10.5. Each cold restart brings the same freeze, strange graphic displays. I reset the SMU, purged the PRAM, replace the battery, pulled/replaced all RAM modules, tried starting from the OS install disk. So far, nothing helps.
At the start of this problem, I could do a boot in safe mode. Now, nothing works and it may take 4 or 5 restarts to get the system up and running. This is most unacceptable and probably stresses the components in ways that will eventually cause a failure.
I am out of ideas today and it is no longer fun. Any help?

  • Moving old iPhoto file from eMac to new iMac (iPhoto 6 to iPhoto 8)

I plugged in a portable hard-drive to my old eMac, dragged the iPhoto icon into it and waited as it copied into the portable HD. When I tried up-loading it into my new iMac (with iPhoto 8), nothing would happen. Same for iTunes. Any suggestions? I'm sure I'm missing something critical. Thanks from Canada.

Wow. I must be really slow. I tried entering that info (using Richard Campbell)for USER NAME and still nothing would show using Spotlight.
I've bought a firewire cable and will try connecting it from my old eMac to the new iMac. maybe using the migrating software will help. Or is that a bad idea?

  • New MacBook-How to move some files from Old iBook

    Hello All ...
I just got a new MacBook and I would like to move a few things over from my old iBook.
Mostly I need all my mail stuff and be able to connect to the internet and such. The rest would be files, pictures and other documents ...
What would be the best way to do this ... does migration assistant do it well or should I do it manually? How do I get to migration or setup assistant and should I do it right away or after.
Should I set up my network connections on my new MacBook first and forget about trying to transer everything from my old iBook. I heard that the less you move over the better ..
Any tips or info much appreciated .... thanks

    Hi Neil ...
    thanks for the reply ...
If I move over my user account ... that's pretty well everything inside it... isn't it? .... Is that good?
For example ... I have Microsoft Office 2001 on there ... and I plan on installing and using 2004.
Would that be an application I should delete before using migration ?

  • I want to move my itunes library to a new computer

i want to move my itunes library to a new computer

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

I am working in photshop elements 13 organizer, album view, and would like to resequence (rearrange) the photos shown in the album but am unable to do so.  My understanding is that you can click on the phots that you want to move and drag it to a new location within the same album.  After i select the photo that I want to move and click on the photo, I get a cirlcle with a diagonal throught it and am unable to drag the photo to its new location.  What am I doing wrong?  I know this should be a simple thing to do.  Thanks

    Jimmy RG
    In the Elements Organizer 13
The key to all this is to click on/select/highlight the Album that you have created in Local Albums.
Then make sure that the Sort By: (in the row below the highlighted "Media" header is set for Album Order.
You should see a number at the top left of each of thumbnails.
Then, click on the thumbnail that you want to move, hold down the click, and drag the thumbnail to the wanted new location
in the line up of thumbnails.
Often I had to press down hard on the drag.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Also, in Edit Menu/Preferences/Keyword Tags and Albums/Enable Manual Sorting Options, I set all for manual.

  • Voyager Q SATA dock isn't allowing booting up via firewire

For my MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, I have just purchased the Newertech Voyager Q SATA dock with firewire 400, 800, esata and USB 3.0
The only problem is, while it's advertised that you can boot from external drives using this, on my MacBook Pro, I am completely unable to boot via firewire 400 or 800.
This is definitely one of the newest models, as it doesn't look like the quad interface models friends of mine have had for years.
I am going to contact Newertech, but I thought I'd at least reach out to the Apple community here as well.
I've tried two different SATA drives just in case there was something about the first SATA drive I was using that was preventing booting up via firewire, but no luck.
The really interesting thing is I CAN boot up via USB, but since my MacBook Pro only has USB 2.0, it's definitely a lot slower than firewire 800 and not nearly as desirable.
I can access any drives while the computer is booted up from my internal drive's OS. They mount on the desktop via firewire just fine.
But when I boot up and hold the option key so I can choose what drive to boot up from, the external drive in the SATA dock doesn't show up AT ALL via firewire.
It only shows up when I stay on that screen (where you choose the boot drive after holidng option while powering up) and plug in the USB cable instead of firewire.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Yea, I was upset because this fact is NOT advertised on their website. I'm glad I can at least boot via USB, which will be fast on new machines with true USB 3.0 but slow on older machines with just 2.0.
But now I need to find the old model, which seems difficult. I really want to boot via FW 800. That's a huge reason why I bought this.

I have an older Mac Pro (2006). I want to install Boot Camp and Windows. I have installed a boxed Snow Leapord on the machine. And it says the download of the Boot camp drivers cannot continue because they are not available. But at that point I have not inserted a windows disk, so how does it know i have XP?
So it appears I am limited to Windows 7? And where are the Windows 7/Boot Camp Drivers? On the OS disk?
Finally, since I have necer considered Windows 7 before, I assume there are no compatability issues with mainstream applications that were running in XP?
    Thank you.

    You're welcome
Just remember to reformat the partition (bootcamp partition) to NTFS with the windows installer, ensure to pick the correct partition.

  • G5 mac wont boot up past white apple screen

My kids mac wont boot up past the white apple screen. I can here everything running but the monitor starts to get all static and scan lines with a reddish tint to it. I tried the commandoption+pr but it still wouldn't boot-up past the white apple screen. Not sure what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Hi there Peter,
Not cheap anyway you look at it sorry, professional Data Recovery being the most expensive.
Unfortunately, Disk Utility can't fix all that much, and the only other Apple Options are erasing the HD, or installing OSX to a second drive, then using Migration Assistant to move stuff over to the new HD.
If Disk Utility or fsck should fail to repair it, your best bet is DiskWarrior from Alsoft, you'll need the CD to boot from if you don't have another boot drive...

Your best bet is DiskWarrior, you need the CD/DVD though.

This one would require another HD with plenty of space to recover to.
You should use another Boot Disk or other Mac with this one in Target mode to do the recovery.
They have a free demo to see what it could recover.
