Older version of Pages?

I can't download the new Pages since my computer doesn't have OS X 10.9. How can I get around the problem?
Or is there anything to do about the problem that my Open Office has flipped and says that there are pages that needs to be re-opened, but I cannot open them or choose to not open them. I have tried get rid of the old Open Office and download a new one, but it's still the same.
Pliiiiiz help!

The original price for iwork is too expensive and when I wrote my answer I hadn't clicked your link... No it is not too expencive but I was hoping for something that I don't have to wait 9-26 days for to arrive.
Thanks, I'll try LibreOffice.
I tried to explain what was wrong with my OpeOffice but, really, I suck on computers and really don't know how to explain it better..

  • Why can't I download an older version of Pages from the App Store?

Is there any way to download an older version of Pages? Specifically, version 4.2?
Upgrading my OS from 10.6.8 is not an option, and I live overseas in a place where I'm completely unable to recieve disks for older iWorks through the mail. This is frustrating... the App should either be compatible or alternatively should keep older versions available, if not on the app store then on the website somewhere. I'm willing to pay Apple for an older version, but have yet to figure out how that's even an option.
Would love to know if there's a way to get Pages 4.2 that I've missed. Thanks

    Google "Apple iWork '09 Installer".
Apple seems to have pulled the plug on the manual updaters so you may have to Google those as well.

  • How do I set my older version of Pages as the default when opening files?

I currently have two versions (Pages '08 3.0.3 and Pages '09 4.2) on my computer. I am finding that when others send me a document created in the older version of Pages, when I open it, it converts it to the newer version. If I make changes and send it back, that same person with only the older version cannot open the file. I know I can duplicate the file, and save a copy as the Pages '08 version when sending the file back, but I'd like to skip this step. Remembering to control click each new file to choose which version I want to open the file in seems like an extra, unecessary step as well. I simply want the files sent to me to open in the older version, so I don't need to go through these extra steps each time. Anyone have any suggestions or tips for me? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I do try to keep Pages 08 open on my computer, but I sometimes find that my documents will still convert to the 09 version upon opening them, even if I don't make any changes or even save the file myself. I also find that I do not get the "save as" option in Pages 09 when it is not a file I created myself. You wouldn't think a basic word processing file would have this much trouble opening in a version that really isn't that much older. I've been doing a lot of copying and pasting into the older version when I send files out. This really makes the 09 version inconvenient to me. If it weren't for all of my files that now require the 09 version to open (because of this default setting everything I open seems to become an 09 version) I'd get rid of this version all together, as it is not compatible for so many other people with whom I work!

  • How do I get an older version of Pages for older Macbook?

I am interested in an older version of Pages, one that had the good template options for flyers. I have OS 10.7.5 and since I have an older mac book laptop, I cannot upgrade to Mavericks. How do I get an older version of Pages? Ultimately, I'm interested in making flyers with good ready made templates, so I'm open to another alternative as well, if you have suggestions, thanks!

It sounds like you had Pages '08/'09.
    You don't still have it?
It should be in your Applications/iWork folder if you do.

If you previously had iWork '09, those apps are still in your Applications folder in a folder named iWork '09 unless you deliberately deleted them.
If you did delete them & have a Time Machine backup that includes your Applications folder you can restore them from there. In the past the iWork apps have not worked well when copied from another drive, but some users have reported that this works for them, especially if the apps were originally purchased from the Mac App Store. If you originally installed them from the retail disk, find the disk & reinstall them & then update to iWork 9.3.

  • How do you access glyph's in pages 5.1  I can easily do this in the older version of pages?

I'm trying to access different glyphs that I have in various font families  i.e. Zaphino.  In the older version of Pages I can get to the fonts and click on the gear and get the drop down, select typography and then ornaments and the various glyphs show up and change the character.  On the new Pages 5.1 this does not work?  any ideas?

In Pages v5.1, enter your zapfino text. Select the text for the new glyph, and press command+T to launch the Font panel. Click the gear selector on this font panel, then choose the familiar Typography menu item. A panel will display as follows, providing access to the various glyphs.

  • Does upgrading to new pages on iPad remove older version of pages

Does upgrading to new pages on iPad remove older version of pages. In other words, after upgrading will I be able to open older Pages documents on the iPad?

I took a while to figure this out after I got into the same mess. The new iWorks is a very bad downgrade. I have deleted Pages 5 from my Mac and gone back to Pages 4.3 (it is still there and was not removed when you updated to Pages 5.)
I then deleted Pages 2 from my iPad and from iTunes.
I used TIme Machine to go back to ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications in September and found "Pages 1.7.2.ipa" and brought it forward to my desktop. I then droped it into the iTunes icon in the Dock and it reinstalled.
    Hope this works for you.
Apple can now take as long as they need to correct all the mistakes they made with the current version of iWorks - I will not be upgrading again until they do.
    Apple - Are you listening?

  • Older versions of Pages?

Is there a way yo get older versions of Pages and Numbers? I have recently taken my Mac's back to LION and want to get the Pages and Numbers. I try to download them from my APP Store account but get an error message that says they only work on Mavericks.
    Thanks
    Harry

One more try. Note, I'm doing this in Mountain Lion. I will not install Lion on any of my Macs. I assume it works in Lion, but it must be 10.7.4. I know it doesn't work in Snow Leopard, 10.6.8.
You must purchase the iWork apps in Mavericks first. If you have not done this, it will not work. It can be done on any Mac with your Apple ID & password.
On the Mac with Lion or Mountain Lion delete or compress then delete any versions of the iWork apps. Now launch the Mac App Store & click the Purchases tab. Click the Install button to the right of each app then sign into your Mac App Store account. You will then get the option to download the previous version.

  • Is there a way to download the older version of Pages 9 if you upgraded to the new one?

Is there any way to download the older version of Pages (9) once you have updated to the newer Pages?

If you’ve already purchased the new iWork apps in Mavericks, you can use this trick to get Pages 4.3. If you still have access to a Mac running Mountain Lion. It must be Mountain Lion or Lion. Snow Leopard won't work. If the iWork '09 apps are installed, compress them & delete the originals. Launch the Mac App Store & click on the 'install' buttons under the iWork apps. You will get a message that you can't install the new version on this Mac but it will offer to download the previous version for you. Voilá, you have the self-contained apps that you can copy to another Mac.

  • How do I get an older version of Pages to work on Snow Leopard? (I already purchased it on App Store a while back)

I purchased Pages on the App store a while back and I can't get it any more on my computer.
I have an early 2006 MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8, which is the highest it would go to, and it isn't compatible with the new Pages version. How can I get an old version?
    Thanks

Just wanted to spare you the details. I bought the app on a newer MacBook Pro a few years ago, which I no longer use. I upgraded my old MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard so that I can have the App store. So, the situation now is that I can't have a higher version of Mac OS X, and the only available versions of Pages and Numbers on the App store are ones that are compatible with 10.9 or higher. Therefore, I am trying to find a way to access older versions that I can use...

  • How can i download an older version of pages for late 2007 macbook running osx lion

i would like to download an older version of the pages for late 2007 macbook running osx lion

If you previously bought Pages from the Mac App Store, click here and follow the instructions, or go to the Mac App Store main page, click on Support under Quick Links, contact Apple, and see what they say.
If not, buy an iWork 09 DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay.

  • How do I open older versions of Pages in Maverick?

All my work is saved in the older version of iWorks (Pages).  This new Maverick won't open it.  I have been able to open my older photos with iPhoto Library Upgrader but need to know how to open my older documents in Pages.   Is there an app or program for that?  I'm a novice at all this, so please consider that when replying
    Thanks!

What specific version is the “older” iWorks (Pages) that you refer too? Pages > About Pages. Mavericks is the operating system, and has nothing to do with whether you can open Pages documents or not.
Pages documents produced by Pages ’08 (v3.03) or earlier are not supported in Pages v5. Neither are any RTF documents. These will have to be exported to Word (.doc) format before opening in Pages v5.
Due to the new document architecture, and 110 missing features/functionality in Pages v5.2.2 that were present in Pages ’09 documents, it may refuse to open Pages ’09 documents because the original document template is no longer supported.

  • Is there any way I can get back an older version of Pages, the Version 5.0 is useless to me

I feel really dumb as I do not have a backup of the older versions and I thought, that Apple might only add some bug fixes or style changes to the new versions, but the way it functions right now makes it useless to me... No I would like to know If I can get back the older version somehow.
    Thanks in advance

You can have the iWork '09 apps be the default but still have the new apps installed. After I installed the new iWork updates I created a folder on an external drive & named it "other applications." I then moved the new iWork apps to this folder. I have icons for two versions of Pages & Numbers (I rarely use Keynote) in my Dock. Even with two versions of Pages running, double-clicking an existing file opens in Pages 4.3.

  • Installing the older version of Pages

    Hello guys,
Fist of all, please excuse me if this issue has already been solved (and I'm sure it has but I looked through the first 10 pages of discussions and couldn't find anything).
After installing Mavericks, I updated my iWork to the latest versions. I didn't double-check them and deleted the older versions because I thought I wouldn't need them. So, I don't have the old versions in my Applications folder anymore. Now I'm trying to use the new Pages and I understand that I want to get the older version back.
Could you guys suggest how I can install the old iWork after having deleted it?
    Thanks!

Apple will do it, they have previously.
As a consumer do not be afraid to stand up for what is right. Also if you live in a country with adequate consumer protection such as Australia or Europe the law gives you protection above what the company promises. Sorry USA, you miss out. Don't know NZ's laws well enough.
Apple may be all sorts of things but generally they are not ogres, just need a nudge to do the right thing.
They have been forced for example to give 2 year warrnaties in both Europe and Australia, although the staff in the Stores were slow to get the message, I overheard the manager telling them what I told them last year. The law is the law.
