On Line Galleries In PSE9

I been using the on line photo galleries feature in PSE in the previos versions and looked forward to doing the same in PSE9. The old galleries were just what I needed for webmastering. I installed PSE9 and the older style galleries (PSE5-PSE7) are not there and the ones in PSE9 are useless. If try to use both versions, only the newer versions show up in both. If you uninstall PSE9 and install the older version the newer ones only show up. Are the older versions available through plus or how can I get the older versions to show up in PSE9? Thanks

Barbara,
Thank You.
I am surprised since the photo galleries in PSE5 through PSE7 were flash. They were also industrial strength with plenty of customization options.

  • Deleting photoshop elements and premier elements

    After installing version 11 of protoshop elements and premier elements I find that I still have in the Adobe folder in the windows "program folder" photoshop elements 6 and one-on-one essentials.  None of these show up in the control panel list of programs to uninstall.  Do I need any part of photoshop elements 6 or one-on-one or can I merely delete the folders and all their contents.
    Other Adobe programs I have installed are Reader X, Flash Player 11 and Adobe Air.

    Each version of PSE is a self contained program and there is no need to delete earlier versions which work with the same images on your hard drive, without duplication.
    I keep earlier versions as they often have different templates for creations and on-line galleries etc. It gives me the greatest choice. Normally I would say go ahead and uninstall earlier versions if you are short of disk space and don’t need them. However, if you don’t have the uninstall function via the control panel I would suggest you leave things as they are, as removing PSE6 in the past has been known to cause problems.

  • Missing  line of instruction on PSE9

    PSE9 the organizer page does not let me import photos. Is my screen resolution improper?

    Do you mean you are missing the menus at the top of the screen? Then see this:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Setting_the_Windows
    Also applies to PSE 9. If that's not it, can you explain in a little more detail just what the problem is?

  • I must be missing something; is there a way to make lines and arrows in PSE9?

    I'm trying to add an arrow to a photo to point out certain features. I'm lost; I see no way to do this???
    Thanks much
    Ron

    Two easy ways:
    1. Select the custom shape tool, select all elements shapes and
       choose from the arrows.
    2. Use the line tool and either draw a line or adjust the settings under arrowheads.

  • Why am I getting a syntax error on the /head line in DW CC?

    I am getting a syntax error in DW CC.  Other threads have indicated this was a bug in CS6 but had been fixed in CC.  That leads me to believe it's my fault, but I can't figure it out.  Can anyone help based on the information I've pasted below?  Thanks!

    Well Jon, the code is very simple... it's generated by DW's form check... and, as i said, it happens with unfailing regularity the minute it's put in to a template generated child.
    This is what the code on the page looks like:
    <head>
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
    <title>Title Here</title>
    <meta name="Keywords" content="some keywords here" />
    <meta name="Description" content="Description here" />
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function MM_validateForm() { //v4.0
      if (document.getElementById){
        var i,p,q,nm,test,num,min,max,errors='',args=MM_validateForm.arguments;
        for (i=0; i<(args.length-2); i+=3) { test=args[i+2]; val=document.getElementById(args[i]);
          if (val) { nm=val.name; if ((val=val.value)!="") {
            if (test.indexOf('isEmail')!=-1) { p=val.indexOf('@');
              if (p<1 || p==(val.length-1)) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain an e-mail address.\n';
            } else if (test!='R') { num = parseFloat(val);
              if (isNaN(val)) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain a number.\n';
              if (test.indexOf('inRange') != -1) { p=test.indexOf(':');
                min=test.substring(8,p); max=test.substring(p+1);
                if (num<min || max<num) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain a number between '+min+' and '+max+'.\n';
          } } } else if (test.charAt(0) == 'R') errors += '- '+nm+' is required.\n'; }
        } if (errors) alert('The following error(s) occurred:\n'+errors);
        document.MM_returnValue = (errors == '');
    </script>
    <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
    </head>
    And, whammo: "There is a syntax error on line xx. Code hinting may not work until you fix this error."
    And, the error always highlights the closing </script> line.
    The script itself is fine:
    1. If one puts it into an external js file, there's no problem
    2. If one puts it in the body section, there's no problem
    3. If one puts it in the template, there's no problem
    Also, if one removes the closing </script> tag, the error goes away
    The problem only happens in a child generated by a template and in the location I've illustrated. Apparently, this is a problem a lot of users are facing...

  • How to improve print quality from PSE9 on Mac?

    Is there a combination of various options in the Photoshop Elements 9’ and the HP Photosmart (C7180) printer’s dialogue boxes (on a Mac, OS 16) that would result in acceptable photo prints? I’ve browsed around in both the corresponding HP and the Adobe forums and found numerous inquiries with similar problems. Thus, this issue may impact larger audience. Therefore, I am describing my problem in more details below with the hope that someone will offer a satisfactory resolution:
    I’ve used earlier versions of Photoshop Elements in a Windows environment to print photos on my HP printer – with quite good results. I wanted to improve quality, so I bought a Mac (after all, “Mac’s forte is graphics, photos, etc.”, isn’t it?) and also upgraded to Photoshop Element 9. Well, to say that the result is a disappointment would be a great understatement. I’ve wasted countless hours, ink and paper in trying different PSE - printer options combinations. The prints are not even close to the quality that I used to get with my earlier setup. Is it possible that a conflict exists between the PSE’s and the printer’s Color Management?
    In my earlier setup (under Windows), there was an explicit option to turn Color Management off if I wanted PSE to manage colors (which I still want). In the Mac version of the printer menu I do not find this option (although PSE 9 still gives a warning: "Did you remember to disable color management in the printer preference dialog?"). In the PSE 9 print dialogue box (under “Color Management” – “Color Handling” in “More Options…”), there are three options: “Printer Manages Color”, “Photoshop Elements Manages Colors” and “No Color Management”. In the printer’s dialogue box, there are only two options: “ColorSync” and “Vendor Matching”. There is no “Printer Color Management off” – as it was under Windows setup. Anyway, these options seem to be irrelevant, because they are predefined in accordance with selections in PSE. If either the second or third options is selected in PSE, the “ColorSync” button is preselected in the grayed out Printer dialogue box. If the first option (“Printer Manages Color”) selected, the “Vendor Matching” is preselected in the grayed out HP Printer dialogue box.  Of course, I do NOT want the printer to manage color.
    Thus, is there any way to turn of the printer’s color management if I want Photoshop Element to manage color? Is it necessary (or “ColorSync” automatically takes care of that)?
    Anyway, this is all very confusing. The bottom line is: Is there a combination of various options in the PSE9’s and the HP Photosmart printer’s dialogue boxes (on a Mac OS 16) that would result in acceptable photo prints? What would be this combination?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello
    I wonder if you ever solved this problem.
    I have a very similar problem with Photoshop CS5 on Mac OSX 10.6 + HP Photosmart C7180.
    If I choose "Photoshop Manages Colors" the results are lousy.
    If I choose "Printer Manages Colors" the results are OK. not necessarily great.
    I believe I have all the correct settings after going through books and web advice (and wasted a lot of paper and ink).
    As far as I can see, "ColorSync" is the internal Mac management which is the only option available with "Photoshop Manages Colors" and "Vendor Matching" appears to mean the printer vendor (ie HP) will provide the matching. Either can be selected if "Printer Manages Colors" is used. It seems the type of paper can be set in three different places. if That's all a bit academic as the results are poor regardless.
    My wife suggests I buy a new printer - Epson's looking good.
    Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

  • PSE9 - album - Other templates?

    Hi,
    I'm new on PSE9, having used before PSE3. I am creating a web gallery on my hard drive using the "Globe 3D" template from PSE9.
    In the result, I cannot see how to spin the globe: in general, as soon as the mouse is over the globe, the image pops up. At one point in time, I had the globe spining instead of the image popping up, which was good, but I don't know how I did it. I tried various combinations of shift, alt, ctrl, right or left click..
    Note: I tried with different PC (XP, Win7), different browsers (Mozilla, IE) and have same unstable results (one time it works, the other it doesn't).
    EDIT: Found it: keeping the mouse pressed and moving slow enough for the program to react
    My question: is there somewhere a way to add web gallery templates to PSE9? I was used to the PSE3 "classic" templates, and I don't see in PSE9 a template as simple and easy to browse. My preference would be to have a rapid navigation in thumbnails and the option to expand in full screen display and navigate full screen from there, with the text options from PSE3 (possibility to add a few lines of info) : I don't see such a template in PSE9. And the Globe 3D template is sooo hungry in processing power!
    (Last comment: Very counter intuitive to have to make double right click instead of left click to select a template! I am losing lots of times from the PSE ergonomy failures...)
    Thank you

  • Missing images in web gallery- strange lines??

    When I make a web gallery and publish to .mac a couple of images appear to be missing or are cropped.. its really odd.. everything looks fine in the preview. Also I sometimes get these really strange thin lines through my images.. I usually dont notice them until I get my prints done.. Has either of these happened to anyone? Thanks.

    nikinoo --
    In the past I've experienced the same problem with some web galleries. The problem went away after I quit Aperture & then opened it up again. I then went and republished the problem gallery without a hitch.
    I too have experienced lines running through my images, but it's been quite some time -- The upgrades that Apple has released appear to have corrected the problems. It might be helpful for you to list what printing settings you are using, there are tons of people here who should be able to help.

  • LR Web Galleries, need help

    I use LR's web galleries for my clients to view their proofs on line, I am on a Mac and my clients who are on a PC see white specs in the very black areas of the photos, I tested this out and it is only when viewed on a PC that this appears, not on Mac's. Are you familiar with this problem? Is there a way to fix this?

    Can you establish a sample gallery to show the problem and post a link to it here?

  • Darker Places on line art make colors a different shade?!

    So yesterday I was coloring line-art that had some dark areas in it with bright colors and it worked perfectly fine with the "background copy" layer on multiply and still the bright colors worked perfectly fine. Now for some reason When areas in the line-art are dark the bright colors are darker on layer 1! (not background copy" I have restarted my computer (mac) and force quit the application and tried again but nothing is working! I have no idea what is going on and this is very weird. The link below shows EXACTLY what is happening on my screen . The locked background layer is on "normal" Background copy is on "multiply" and Layer 1 is on normal! This was not going on yesterday and I am very worried. Note that The color I am using is bright red and it turns dark red on the picture. I am using a screen shot I took from the picture I found. But the bright red is perfectly fine on the white area. Please help I am using PSE9.

    - DrawingLover524

    Open the file with the line art
    Place a blank layer above this
    Use the brush tool to paint on this layer. The brush tool utilizes the foreground color.
    By using a small brush, you should be able to paint within the confines of the black lines. If you need to tidy up, use the eraser tool.
    If you want to try with an adjustment layer, do this:
    Open file with the line art
    Open a color fill adjustment layer above this with the color of choice
    Temporarily reduce the layer opacity of the adjustment layer so that you can see through it to visualize the line art
    Left click on the mask (the white rectangle)
    With a black brush, paint where you don't want color. If you go too far, correct with a white brush. Black hides, white reveals.
    Reset adjustment layer opacity to 100% when finished
    Tips:
    D on keyboard sets color chips to default
    X toggles between foreground/background colors
    The bracket keys on the keyboard increase/decrease the brush cursor size

  • SWF Viewing problem - Web Galleries?

    Hi there,
    I am entirely new to this – I’m using Dreamweaver MX and use Abobe Bridge CS2.
    My questions are;
    1 – I have created a Web Gallery in Adobe, and then placed the swf file into a Dreamweaver page, my problem is this – the file works ok in design mode when I test it, but when I ‘proof’ it in explorer 8 it fails to appear, just a blank white box….i have examined the link to the file in Dreamweaver and believe the link to be ok after having read on here about this possibility, but I’m not so sure – so the code for the page is as follows….
    2 – Will I be able to create multiple galleries?, if so how can I do this (as I’m a photographer and wish to display different aspects to my work on different pages)
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="600" height="600">

    Many Thanks in advance – and forgive the dumbness or any misunderstanding on the more technical aspects, as I said I’m beginner in these things!.

    .htaccess first assumes you're on an Apache server. Are you?
    To make the file, create a text file with the single line of text recommended above. Use Notepad or Text Edit -- a program that will save a simple text file (don't use Word). Save it on your computer and call it anything you want. If you name it .htaccess on your local machine and you're using a Mac, it will disappear (because any file name that starts with a period on UNIX is invisible).
    Upload the file you made to your server. You can put it in your root directory because .htaccess files affect the directory they're in and all directories below it.
    Rename the file .htaccess on the server.
    You're done.

  • Generated galleries

    Hi. I generated galleries form LR and I wonder if there is a option to add it as a gallery to wordpress, not as a single fotos and there creating gallery but as a gallery, by useing option WEB -> upload settings. I will be greatful for help. regards, mazi

    "You can use the contact line as a link back to your site instead of an email link. Matthew at theturninggate.net also has some very nice gallery index templates that help navigate to different galleries."
    Yes, Matthew's photo galleries look good and each has several button which link elsewhere. I didn't understand, though, your comment about his templates. Does he generate the templates, and are you saying that he can share a template with someone?

  • Web galleries : statistics & comments

    Hi all,
    Web galleries generated by LR already great. Nevertheless, I would be happy to some more functionalities in HTML galleries, here are the two main functions:
    - Statistics: View counter. Each time a person click on a picture, a counter would be incremented. This should be very interesting to know which pictures are considered as interesting.
    - Comments: Each person on the web could add a comment to explain why a picture is or isn't appreciated. This is again a very interesting feedback for the photographer.
    In an HTML gallery, I would think that these functions can be provided by using CSS possibilities and probably some lines of PHP. I wonder if some of you could show an example? Or could help me by providing some hints?
    Thanks,
    PH

  • Web galleries put images under a bin directory

    The web galleries put the images (both thumb and large) in a path like content/bin/images/... For hosts that use Microsoft Internet Information Server, the bin part of this path breaks the link to images, so they don't display. WHY IN G's NAME do you use bin? bin is for executables, in both unix and Windows, surely.
    Because I use a host that uses IIS, I can't use Lightroom-generated web galleries.

    Open the folder default_html.lrwengine (it's inside the lightroom app folder) (you should make a backup copy just in case)
    Open the file galleryInfo.lrweb
    after the line ["photoSizes.thumb.width"] = 130,
    Add
    ["photoSizes.large.directory"] = "large",
    ["photoSizes.thumb.directory"] = "thumb",
    In grid.html change the line <img src="$others/bin/images/thumb/<%= image.exportFilename %>.jpg" id="ID<%= image.imageID %>_thumb" alt="" class="thumb" />
    to <img src="$others/thumb/<%= image.exportFilename %>.jpg" id="ID<%= image.imageID %>_thumb" alt="" class="thumb" />
    and in detail.html change <img src="bin/images/large/<%= image.exportFilename %>.jpg"
    to
    <img src="large/<%= image.exportFilename %>.jpg"
    That should get you going.
    As to why it uses bin? no idea..

  • IWeb 09 issue with displaying MobileMe Galleries in Weblog

    Hello everyone,
    I searched but did not see this exact issue. I upgraded to iLife 09 this week and my site from iWeb 08 opened successfully in iWeb 09 (although everything was Red). After adding 3 new blog entries, I decided to publish today. At first, the publish entire site errored out with the progress circle half way. I simply tried again and it finally completed the publish entire site.
    I checked my website on-line on a Mac using Safari, and on Windows using I.E. and Safari, and have the same problem on all three.
    All of my weblog entries that contain a MobileMe Gallery (both photos and videos) are fine in iWeb just as they were before the upgrade. However, when I view the weblog on line, the Web Galleries do not show up on any of the blog entries. There is just a blank space where they used to be.
    I also checked my actual Web Gallery on both Mac and Windows and can view content on both. I repaired permissions before my publish and I have noticed one item since I upgraded to 10.5.6 this week (also). I get a permission error related to "Library/PrivateFrameworks/iLifeMediaBrowser.Framework" that does not appear to get repaired because it shows up every time I repair permissions. I also get another unrepaired permission related to "CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle" but I don't think that is related to this issue.
    I have always received excellent help on this forum when encountering an issue and am hoping there is one for this issue. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
    Having read many of the comments here on this forum, I feel fortunate that my issues were not worse. Here is the URL of a weblog entry that should have 4 MobileMe Galleries at the bottom:

    Thanks in advance,
    Santiago

    Your URL contains apostrophe character, iweb javascript code had been changed in web09.
    It converts special character in your URL path to UTF escape codes and lost in translation when try to use it.
    You galleries are there in the widget mark files, but iweb javascript can not read its own (LOL!) widget markup URL:
    http://web.me.com/sabretado/sabretado/Weblog/Entries/2009/2/../../../../Weblog/E ntries/2009/2/19Monterey_Bay_Aquarium_and_Fisherman%E2%80%99s_Wharf_files/widget2markup.html
    notice the %E2%80%99, that's UTF character.
    Try to remove the apostrophe character from your page name and give them feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html
