On my new MacBook Pro when I am connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable, Facebook pictures do not load. They show up as white boxes with blue question marks. This also happens on a website editor. But, when I am connected to the internet via Wifi, everything load properly. This is my work computer, so I have to be able to connect through the Ethernet cable to access everything. Please help me!
I mostly use Safari. But I also tried it on Firefox, Mozilla, and Camino. Mac OS X. It's my work computer, so I've only tried it at the office. I have to be connected through the Ethernet cable to access my files and email on the server.

My wife is working in London for 5 weeks & staying in digs, so we thought it would be a good idea to buy an ipad2 so we could skype each other, she could watch movies from the icloud, access skygo etc,and it wouldn't be as bulky as a laptop. All fine if you can get wifi, but for some reason her ipad cannot locate any btfon or btopenzone hotspots (or provider), IN LONDON??!! We can access them at home in a little village in Northern Ireland. Her digs have an ethernet socket, is it possible to connect her ipad to this socket via an adapter?
No. She will need to come up with an alternative way to connect. A mobile hotspot perhaps.
Finding some way to connect to these hotspots would be the ideal situation. I know that you realize that. We know nothing about what is happening, but if you can explain in some detail, maybe somebody here can help. -
My macbook pro says I am connected to the internet but won't load pages
my macbook pro says I am connected to the internet with a strong signal but it won't load any pages. The internet works fine on my iPhone and other computers so it must be an issue with my macbook. Any suggestions??

Apps on my Macbook Pro don't function/connect to the internet
For some reason some apps on my Mac will not work or connect to the internet. The ones not working are: iTunes (can't connect to the iTunes store but I can play media I have locally), App Store, Safari, Beatport App, and Adobe Reader; but I wouldn't be surprised if there were more that I just haven't checked. Safari and Adobe Reader both open and function normally for about 5 second or so and then just freezes and doesn't respond. Everything else just says it's opening but never actually does and eventually stops responding. I also can't do software updates for iTunes or my Mac in general.
I tried uninstalling Adobe Reader and installing it again from the Adobe website, but when I open the installer it doesn't respond either, so now I just don't have Adobe Reader installed anymore.
I also tried disabling my firewall and messing with my security/network settings but didn't have any luck. Anyone have any ideas??Reboot into OSX, run Boot Camp, select Download Windows Support Software.
While that is downloading you will have time to Print the Boot Camp documentation and read it (clearly you have not yet) -
My roommate has the same laptop as me and she connected perfect fine. I also was here last semester and I could connect with no problems at all. I came back to school this semester and suddenly I keep getting the exclamation mark saying I'm not connected. I'm also connected to the Internet on my iPad right now so I know it works. How do I fix this? Please help!
Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.
System Preferences>Network
Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

Using iPad when connection to the internet is by ethernet cable
I'm going to be at Oxford this summer and hoped to leave my laptop home and just use my iPad2. There is wifi in the public spaces but to connect to the internet in the dorm, you must bring your own ethernet cable. The second part of my question is that I have the 3G iPad. Is there anyway to make that available in England?

It is the protocol used for most all US cellular service. GSM is the protocol used in Europe. Unless there is a cellular provider in England that can provide CDMA service and is a partner with whomever provides your cell service in the US, then you would not be able to use your cellular capability. This has no effect on your other wireless. -
Macbook pro occasionally fails to connect to the internet
Hi... A few months ago I bought a new 15 inch Retina display MacBook Pro. it's the third macbook pro I've owned but the first with the following problem. About 5% of the time, when I boot the computer it fails to connect to my home network. While this is happening I will click on Network Diagnostics. I will, one at a time, walk through the following screens of that diagnostic tool..
Select Location... Always shows my Location so I click Continue
Choose network port configuration... That always shows the correct Wi-Fi radio button selected so I again click Continue
Select Wi-Fi Network... It always shows my home network so again I just click Continue
Then comes the interesting part. The next screen that comes up is the one where you choose between DHCP or PPPoE. The moment that screen comes up, first DHCP is already selected which is correct. But more importantly the moment that screen comes up, the network connects and a new window opens up that says,
Network Change Detected.
Your network configuration has changed. Click OK to proceed to the next step
What could be wrong that prompts the system to fail to connect once in a while even though it seems to only need me to click through the Network Diagnostic without actually doing anything and when I get to this DHCP screen, boom it connects by itself???
Any ideas of what's going on???
thanks... bob...1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
Restart the computer.
Start up in Safe Mode.

2. Deselect Proxies if selected.
System Preference > Network > Advanced > Proxies Tab
Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.
Click "OK" then "Apply”. -

Macbook Pro suddenly will not connect to the internet via ethernet cable.
I know this is a long shot... but I figured I would give it a try.
My macbook pro suddenly does not connect to the internet via ethernet cable. Please bear with me, as I am not very tech-savvy - I will try my best to describe the symptoms!
I connect to the internet via ethernet (we don't have wifi). It was working before I went to work, and when I came home I suddenly couldn't get anything to work (I know everyone says this, but I truly didn't mess with anything). Internet browsers just think for awhile and then turn up the 'You are not connected to the internet' error.
I went into my network preferences and curiously, the 'Ethernet' shows a green dot and says 'connected'. However it says 'Authentication server is not responding' underneath the last part that says '802.1X: WPA: eduroam' (I think that is my user profile).
When I go into my 'security' settings I can see that my firewall is off, so that shouldn't be causing any problems.
I've tried restarting the router and computer itself many times. Diagnostics just gets to a certain point and reports back 'Network Diagnostics cannot fix the current networking problems.' I've also tried switching to a different ethernet cable, and I tried both cables out on a PC laptop and it connected without issue. Additionally, I brought my macbook along to a friend's house and it connected to his wifi just fine, so the problem appears to just be with ethernet connections.
I know it's hard to troubleshoot this kind of thing without being there and having a look at the computer yourself, but any tips wouild be greatly appreciated. As I mentioned above, I am not very tech savvy so I have no idea why a wireless protocol would be showing up there, I'm just listing everything I see in hopes that someone might know something I can try. This is why I am asking for help here - I'm not sure what has happened that has made me unable to connect, especially since it seemingly occured while nobody was using the computer.
I guess I should clarify that I'm not a total hillbilly- normally my firewall is set to 'on', but I set it to 'off' to try and troubleshoot the issues here as I was told that sometimes it can interfere with the computer's ability to connect to the internet. If this is not the case and firewall does not affect anything, I will turn it back on while I try to fix this.
I have tried the method you mentioned above a few times - I actually contacted my ISP earlier this week and they recommended resetting the router like that. They didn't mention any known network issues. -
My Macbook Pro will no longer connect to my tv via HDMI
Well basically it is in the title, my Macbook Pro will no longer connect to my tv via HDMI.
I have been using this cable for a long time and works perfectly.

im not sure whether my mac has changed some settings on its own to run on 4k but now to high to run on my 1080p tv
pretty annoying so any ideas id be very grateful.

Hello Rattisate,
Sorry to hear you are not able to connect to Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro. I would be concerned about this too. You can find information on how to troubleshoot this in the following article:

Can Windows 7 be installed on my new MacBook Pro, through my network connection? The disc would be in my Windows desktop.
I wouldn't recommend installing through a network connection.
For a Virtual Machine:
If you have the Win 7 media (DVD), use an app like PowerISO or MagicISO to make an ISO file of the install disc and use that.
For BootCamp:
Use the original install media and BootCamp Assistant, to install from your DVD Drive.
