One apple tv and 2 macs:how to change primary for atv

I have an ibook g4 with an almost full memory and a new iMac. Currently the ibook G4 is the primary computer for my apple tv. I want to make my newer iMac the primary computer for synching with my apple tv so all new content will go to it and not to the ibook. My system is totaly wireless and there are no problems other than a full memory (on ibook) and unsure of messing things up badly. The iMac is already acting as second and shares files to the ibook and apple tv. How do I Switch this? I do have ipods however I don't want to do downloads ect.
I want to use the ibook for my kids so as soon as I can get this switched, they can use it for their itunes and iphoto, therefore I don't want to just eliminate all the itunes/iphoto/apple parts. The ibook's itunes also has movies and music purchase from Apple tv that I don't want to lose. It will just stay on the ibook.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
From the tv select settings/computers and select the primary library at the top of the list, you can remove the existing primary library from there, use the same option (now - 'connect to itunes library'
to register a new primary library.
You can add the original primary library as a secondary library by selecting 'connect to shared library'

As I already said, you have to create an iCloud account on an iOS device or Mac. If you don't have one, you can't create and iCloud account. Apple states this on the page you downloaded the iCloud control panel from (iCloud Control Panel 3.1 for Windows), where it says:
"Note: To create an iCloud account you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later."

Am trying to upgrade iphoto and other applications , but app store is posting a message "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." KNOWING THAT I ONLY HAVE ONE APPLE ACCOUNT AND 2 MACS

Am not sure how to solve this issue ,, but i had an old MAcBook Pro that i was using with for somt time and i got a notre MACBook pro and on both of them am using the same apple accouny to purchase or download application . . now APP store is not allowing to upgrade or purchase any applications on my newest MAC posting this message " To Update this application , sign in to the account you used to purchase it" .. and could not find a solution to this by signing out and in didnt work ,, any clues is much appreciated..

Thanks for you reply. I'm 99% positive that I'm using the user id and password that I used to set up my computer. That's why I'm stumped. I read the solution someone else suggested (type your user name without @gmail and create a new password. When I tried it, I was asked for my birthday. It didn't recognize it. I know I got my birthday correct. Oh well...

Follow the undermentioned steps to change the password:
1) Change the password from oim Design Client as usual.
2) Open xlconfig.xml present in <XL_HOME>\xellerate\config folder.
3) This step is optional and should only be used if you have a <XLPassword encrypted> tag in the <Scheduler> section. In the scheduler section, change the encrypted="true" to encrypted="false" and replace existing encrypted password with new clear text password, as shown below:
<Scheduler>
<XLUserName>xelsysadm</XLUserName>
<XLPassword encrypted="false">NEW_PASSWORD</XLPassword>
</Scheduler>
4) Restart server.
Now login with the new password.

No not bothered about sycing apps etc it is all about calendars and maybe notes. IN terms of how its done I just want it the easiest way and preferably so that if an entry is made on one calendar then it populates the other.

You cannot delete an Apple ID, you just stop using it. Understand that any apps purchased using that ID can only be updated with it. Apps are tied that ID used to purchase them. If you want to use a new ID for everything, you will need to repurchase any old apps using the new ID.

Yes, I do have multiple devices and it appeared to me that every time I tried to sync or log onto iTunes, the password was incorrect. Consequently, I was and am constantly changing it. Wouldn't it be nice if Apple would simply say that you only need one Apple ID and one password regardless of the number of Apple devices you intend to sync via iTunes.
Barring the above, how about a way to merge all of the Apple IDs and passwords into one.

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs. (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.) This will prevent you from ending up with merged data. You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

You can't. All apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to obtain them, and cannot be updated using any other ID.

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button.

icloud is designed so that only one user uses it to keep his/her devices in sync. Problems such as yours occur when multiple users use the same account - icloud is not designed for that.
If a user is using your account, they should get their own account and disconnect from your account.
To create a new icloud account, go to
http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Once they have a new account, they should go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. This only disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost on icloud. Then enter the account ID that you want to use.
Note that an ID used for iCloud does not have to be the same ID used for iTunes. You can all keep the same iTunes store Apple ID to share purchases, but for iCloud, use different IDs.

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPhone by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the phone. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.
