One data source and assign multiple data target in BI?

Hi all,
Is it possible is to assign one data source to multiple data targets in BI? Not like in BW 3.X ; one data source can assign only one Info source. I am bit confused about it, let me know about this ?

Okay, I must have misunderstood your message, I was thinking BI 7 and data targets .. like cubes and DSO's.
In 3.x, assign your datasource to a single infosource. Then assign that infosource to multiple data targets by creating update rules and assigning your infosource to each/all of them.
In this way, you shouldn't need multiple infosources per datasource unless you have a special situation that calls for it.

Hi Alok,
You can assign only one infosource to one datasource but you can feed any number of data targets based on the requirement from that Infosource. It can be either Delta or Full load. But to do Delta, initially you need to do INIT and then go for Delta. If you have already done full load into a data target, you can go for INIT w/o data transfer there after continue with Delta.

Apple allows you to set up different Apple IDs for use with different services. To do what you are asking, use the primary Apple ID for iTunes purchases and individual Apple IDs for each of you to use with Facetime, Game Center and iCloud.

PSA to Multiple Data Targets in process chain

Hello All,
I am trying to create a process chain that loads data from an already loaded PSA to further targets. (Note that the infopackage to load from R/3 to PSA is in another process chain). I am using the "Read PSA and Update Data Target" process type. But it allows only one data target. I need to push the data to all the targets of that infosource. Do I have to put a process for each target? Or is there a work around? Please help.

Thank you for your detailed answer. I know that it is mostly not practical to have the InfoPackage and "Read from PSA" package in different local chains. However I am facing a situation where I need to create a chain that just extracts all the data from R/3 and loads it till PSA in BW (This is very time critical, so we do not wish to put any other processing in this chain). And in the second chain, we want to put further processing steps within BW. That is the reason, loading from PSA to ODS needs to be in a separate chain.
Another thing is the variant does have a field to enter Data Target, and that shows only the targets of InfoPackage, but allows me to select only one. However, I will go ahead and try with the Infopkg entry as you suggested.
But if you could just elaborate on why you said, I CANNOT have PSA to Targets in a separate chain, I would really appreciate it!

SQL Server Source and Flat File Target in OWB

Hello All,
I have a question, is it possible to have SQL Server as Source and Flat File as Target without using any intermediate Oracle table(s).
like
SQL Server --> ETL Operators --> Flat file?
as i m getting errors in data type conversions here. but if i replace flat file with Oracle table it works fine. (though i have used some conversion functions for data types as well in Flat file loading but it is giving me errors)

Yes this should be fine. Are you using the gateway to access SQLServer or code template mappings? You need to track which columns are throwing the data type conversion errors.

No it is not possible,
you can have different gorups
or
in case of Flat File datasource you can copy the datasource give it a different name and then create a new transformation.
not sure how this works on R/3

OWB 10g -- Can't Create Database Links for Data Source and Target

We installed OWB 10g server components on a Unix box running Oracle 10g (R2) database. The Designer Repository is in one instance. The Runtime Repository and the Target are in another instance. The OWB client component was installed on Windows XP. We create a data source module and a target module in OWB. The data source is on another Unix box running Oracle 9i (R2) database. We try to create database links for data source module and target module, respective. But when we created and tested the DB links, the DB links were failed.
For the database link of data source, we got the following error message:
Testing...
Failed.
SQL Exception
Repository Error:SQL Exception..
Class Name: CacheMediator.
Method Name: getDDEntryFromDB.
Repository Error Message: ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred
For the database link of target , we got the following error message:
Testing...
Failed.
API2215: Cannot create database link. Please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and the details on how to reproduce it.
Repository Error:SQL Exception..
Class Name: oracle.wh.ui.integrator.common.RepositoryUtils.
Method Name: createDBLink(String, String, String, String).

Repository Error Message: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended.
However, we could connect to the two databases (data source and target) using the OWBs utility SQL Plus.

As I said prior the database link creation should work from within the OWB client (also in 10).
Regarding your issue when deploying, have you registered your target locations in the deployment manager and did you first deployed your target location's connector which points out to your source?
I myself had some problems with database link creations in the past and I can't remember exactly what they were but it had something to do with
- the use of abnormal characters in the database link name
- long domain name used in as names.default_domain in my sqlnet.ora file
What you can do is check the actual script created when deploying the database link so see if there's something strange and check if executing the created script manually works or not.

Running multiple VI's from one data source

Hello,
I am newer to Labview, and currently stuck on a problem.
I have created a program to serial read from an RS232 port and extracted multiple points of the string and display it to the web. I would like to create a second VI from the same RS232 port and display one or two points of information. I have tried to do this with a global VI, but I can't web publish a global. Neither VI will have a user control, they simply display the data coming in. Any suggestions?

You really should have a separate loop just to read the COM port. You can then parse the read data and send to the appropriate sections of code using queues.

Can we assign more than one data source to one info cube?

Hi,
The best input would be from SP help for each application component. Alernatively goto metadata repository and search there.
If you already have some extractions for that particular component, you can right click and select show data flow and it'll give you the entire picture if you have mapped everything.
The other way is if you know for ex a cube, you can goto business content and drag it to the right hand side window. Give the method as data flow before and afterwards and it'll pull everything. That way you can get to know all the components.
You can assign multiple datasources to a cube.

Is retaining hotsynch an option with the pre plus // how to handle syncing 2 devices to one data source

I just bought two Palm Pre plus' from Verizon. I have no need for gmail - is it possible to continue using hotsync with the new device (I have the original Treo 600)?
If not, are people comfortable with their data being "out there" on Google's servers?
Finally, if you have two devices for your family can you sync both devices to one data source?

Assuming you mean you wish to continue using Palm Desktop or M$ Outlook to sync your data to your new Pre phones, you should review this stickied thread near the top of this board. It discusses several third-party solutions for continuing to use desktop synchronization instead of using a Google account. Note, these solutions sync directly to the Pre's contacts and calendar databases, rather than synchronizing with the Classic application, which as mentioned above is also an option.

Can't speak for everyone, but I am comfortable with my stuff on Google.

You can easily do this with Google, by one of two ways I think: either setting up each family member's account separately, directly on your device, or by sharing the Google calendars in your own google.com account.

Reconfigure one data pump extract into 4 and several replicats

I have setup a basic replication for two database, source 9iR2 and target 11gR2 (same platform), the goal is to perform a zero downtime migration.
I have started from very basic configuration just to see how this works, one extract, one data pump and one replicat but I have observed some lagging problem so I think I might need to have more data pumps and more replicats.
How can I reconfigure current configuration to a multiple replicat and data pump configuration without neededing to reinstantiate the target database? I have looked into support note How to Merge Two Extract And Two Replicate Group To One Each, from one source DB to a target DB (Doc ID 1518039.1) but I need to do the reverse.

Good example in the Apress book. Basically, stop extract, let pump and replicat finish the current stream, then split data pump and replicat as needed. Figure out where to start each pump and replicat with respect to the CSN.
