One of the user accounts on my computer cannot access the start up disk or its user folder.

I have two user accounts on my computer, both with administrator permissions.  One account appears to function normally; however, when I log in to the other account, the System Disk does not appear on my desktop, and does not appear in Finder either. When I ran the disk utility as the user with the problem account, I was instructed to repair the Disk by restarting in recovery mode.  Running the Disk Utility in recovery mode was unsuccesful.  I received a message saying the disk could not be repaired, and that I should back up what I could, then reformat.  I exited the utility and restarted my computer logging in under  the user that does not appear to have a problem.  I ran disk utility as this user; however, this time the utility reports that everything seems to be okay.  I log back in with the problem account and the problem stil exists.  I cannot see the system disk.

Thanks for your help.  I didn't see your tip until after I had decided to delete the user account then recreate it.  When I recreated the account, I thought I was still in trouble, because the disk did not appear on my desktop or in finder.  Then I saw your tip to check the preferences.  I changed the preferences and now I am able to see the disk in finder and on the desktop. Your tip to check Finder preferencese was something I did not know about.  I am not sure how they were changed. I don't remember ever changing them.  I guess thinking about it more, the default option may be to have the disk hidden from the desktop and finder, In the which case I was simply remembering wrong. 
The only thing that puzzles me still is why when I ran Disk Utility on the one account, it indicated that the disk needed to be repaired, but that it was unable to repair the disk,  though, when I ran Disk Utility on the other account, it said everything was okay. After deleting and recreating the account, Disk Utility no longer indicates any problems.  It looks like there was something wrong, just don't know exactly what.  At anyrate, it is all fixed, and I now know about the finder and desktop view options.  Glad it wasn't something more serious.     If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
    Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

    Hi Michael,
    Yes it is now resolved but not after I send iTunes a request for help and explaining the problem.  They send a first reply explaining how I needed to verify my account and gave me the link to do that.  You and I know that this did not help, so I replied telling them that this was not working and iTunes did the reset for me.
    You may want to open a help ticket with iTunes help.  That is the only way it works.

I do not have internet on my computer (I'm doing this on a friend's), so when I connect my iPhone to my computer, an error message pops up that says "Cannot access the iTunes store".     Delete then re-install iTunes & Delete the following files:
    The iTunes application (located in /Applications)
    com.apple.iTunes.plist (from ~/Library/Preferences)
    iTunes.pkg (from /Library/Receipts)
    iTunesX.pkg (from /Library/Receipts)
    then re-download the latest version of iTunes.

    You cannot delete an Apple ID, you can only choose not to use it.  Also, your @me.com address is associated with this ID and cannot be moved to another ID or be used to create a new ID.
    All you could do is create a new ID using a different email address with your name in it.  If you do you will have an associated @icloud.com email address.

    You do not need the card once it's been redeemed. The balance will be tied to your iTunes Store account. Just log into your account on any of your devices and you should be able to see and spend the balance.
    There is no telephone support for the iTunes Store, just so you know for future issues. The iTunes Store provides support only via a web form.

    Sounds like you should reinstall itunes, i'd follow one of these, whichever is most appropriate to get it done properly because on windows there is more than just itunes that needs taken off and reinstalled.

    Yes to receive an iMessage the recipient would need an iOS device (iPhone, iPod, iPad) and an internet connection. This is a messaging serviceprovided by Apple so the recipient does not need to check emails. If the contact does not have internet access at the time the iMessage is sent then a normal SMS through your carrier can be sent instead if you have "Send as SMS" turned on in Settings>Messages.

    How are you trying to access the EHD library?  Can you open it by launching iPhoto with the Option key held down and selecting the EHD library in the window that appears?

    Firefox would not load Yahoo home page properly, checked add ons and plugins-no problem. So unistalled. When reinstalling, went through until the end, then I get:

    I went through the Help section on this page, even to right clicking the file and "run as administrator". It went through and restarted the computer. When I went to look for the program, it wasn't listed in All programs. I searched files and the only thing there was the same message as above.

    Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

    I have itunes on my computer in my main user account.     You can only deauthorize all your itunes computers once a year, so I would avoid clicking that at the moment.  Log onto the 2nd user, and open itunes.  Go to Store> Authorize This computer.
    As an alternative, you could point the 2nd user itunes library to the primary itunes folder.  So both users would use the same itunes folder.  You can do this by holding shift, clicking itunes icon.  There should be an option to browse for an existing library.  Locate the main computers itunes folder. (Most likely under: C:\Users\*Account name*\Music where *Account name* would be your main user accounts name.

    Thanks for the reply.  I did think that could be the case but then other books would also show up as apps on phone but not counted as an app.  Maybe book apps downloaded from the app store work in this way whereas books bought from the ibooks app show in ibooks and not as apps.
    I guess that would make sense, it must be because they are books but downloaded from the app store rather than the book store so they are visible as an app but don't actually get counted as an app.
    Would you think that's the case too?
