One specific website won't load on my MacBook Pro

So, the title says it all pretty much.
I've been accessing this website for nearly 6 months, daily. A few days ago, it just stopped loading (Safari and Chrome), it says it's loading the webpage but then says the webpage won't load. At first I thought it was because the website was down, but I could access it using my PC, Phone and iPad (same wifi connection) and still can, it just refuses to load on my MacBook and I can't figure out why!
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Tried this also.
Since posting, these are the things I have tried;
Safari Reset
Chrome Reset
Tried using private browsing/incognito
Macbook restart
Wifi restart
Complete router restart
Changed DNS to 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8
Checked my anti virus software preferences for blocking websites
Un-installed anti virus software
Disabled Ad-Blocker
Un-installed Ad-Blocker
I then tried using the Guest account - still didn't work, so I did everything listed above on the guest account, still no luck.

  • One specific website won't load

While browsing the internet on my laptop (late 2011 MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor), I have one specific website that will not load. It's worked in the past, but has suddenly stopped working.
My software and OS are up-to-date (OS X 10.9.5), and I've scanned for viruses (Intego VirusBarrier). I've tried multiple networks (WiFi only, no ethernet), haven't changed my network or firewall settings, and have tried disabling my firewall (Intego NetBarrier). I've tried multiple browsers (Safari, Firefox, and Chrome), reset Safari to clear my cookies and cache, and have disabled the one browser extension I use.
I've been able to access the site on other computers and on my iPhone, all on my primary network. I've opened the terminal and used the host command, and I know my computer is able to interpret the site's IP (something about verifying the DSN?). As best I can tell, this is not an issue with the website, but with my laptop.
    Any ideas?

I have a few suggestions to try:
    1) Completely uninstall VirusBarrier.  There is simply no need for additional antivirus or firewall products on a Mac with a current OS version.  Third-party firewall and antivirus products cause more problems on Macs than the ever prevent.
Next, do the following side-by side on both your Mac that can't visit the site and one that can.  Compare what you see between the two.
    2) Check "System Preferences" > "Network" > "Advanced" > "Proxies".  None of the boxes should be selected under "select a protocol".
    2) Check "System Preferences" > "Network" > "Advanced" > "DNS".
    3) Open a terminal window, enter the following command and hit return:
    cat /etc/hosts
You should only see the following entries:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1            localhost
    fe80::1%lo0 localhost
If you see additional entries let us know.
After comparing your Proxy, DNS, and hosts file of a Mac that can reach the site and the one that can't, let us know what differences you see.

  • Apple website won't load on my MacBook Pro

I cannot connect to www.apple.com or any variation of it on my MacBook Pro Retina on either Chrome or Safari. I receive message that says I am not connected to the internet, however every other website opens just fine.  I can access Apple from my iPad and my Windows PC on the same network connection. I have no clue what the issue is or how to resolve it. Any suggestions? I am current on all updates.

Double-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):
    www.apple.com
Launch the Network Utility application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Network Utility in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Select the Lookup tab and paste into the address field (command-V). Press return. Post the output that appears below – the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Step 2
Select the Ping tab and do the same. Please enter the same input as you did in Step 1. Don't use the output of Step 1 as input to Step 2.
    Important Note
Some web browsers and mail clients will automatically convert a domain name such as "www.example.com" to a clickable URL, such as http://www.example.com. That will interfere with the test. If necessary, edit the input in the Network Utility window to remove any added characters.

  • One particular website that won't load on my MacBook Pro

I have been trying to access a website that continually fails to load (in most cases, described below) on my MacBook Pro in Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox.
    The site: http://www.crestedbuttemusicfestival.com
My Mac won't open this site at any time from my own home. My internet connection is Qwest DSL, and yes, we do not have the fastest speed offered by Qwest. I rent and don't manage the kind of speed I have.
My Mac might open this site in Safari in a location with a faster speed. But it still won't open in Firefox or Chrome.
I do have the most recent versions of all browsers in question.
When it fails to open in Safari at home, yes, I've reset Sarafi and cleared the cache each time.
The folks who own the website say they have no idea what's going on. But I met someone else who told me the same thing happens to them once in a while (versus my "all the time" experience.)
This is the ONLY site that my computer will not open.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated! It is a non-profit music festival that has no reason to be falling under any kind of parental control filters, which I don't think I have in place anyway as I have no children.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I can open that page no problem.
    Your profile... v10.6.5
If that is the case, you need to update your software. Click the Apple () menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update ...
If in fact your software is up to date and you are running v10.6.7 and Safari 5.0.4 ... then from the menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that off, then try that site.

  • Programs won't load on 2012 MacBook Pro

Hey guys, I'm opening this thread on behalf of someone else so I don't have all the information regarding the computer, but here's what I do know.
2012 cMBP, excessively long boot up loading screen with the loading bar and gray Apple logo (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A2YnByvCMAA0WxN.jpg:large)
When it did boot up certain programs including Skype, Chrome, and Final Cut would not open. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to proceed (taking it into a store for service isn't currently an option) Thanks!

Have him start by doing this:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Aol won't load on my macbook pro

Is anyone else having trouble loading aol? It will not load on Safari or Firefox.  I can access mail through my iPhone but not my laptop.  Any suggestions?

Are you certain that you have your AOL mail account setup the same on your iPhone as you do on your Mac (using Mail, I assume)? I haven't used AOL in decades (is it still a paid service, even?) but my aunt uses it. Are you getting any sort of error message in Firefox or Safari or does the page just fail to load?
I just loaded http://www.aol.com/ - but didn't try to log in as I have no account. No problems either in Firefox or Safari.

  • One website won't load

One specific website will not load on my mom's computer. She has a MacBook, w/ 10.4.11.
    - The website loads fine on my MacBook, also running 10.4.11, on the same wireless network
    - The website loads fine on computers outside of our network, PCs running IE, etc.
    - The internet in general is working, it just will not load the one specific website
    - I cannot get the website to load in Safari or Firefox on her computer. They work in both browsers on my computer.
    - We have tried emptying the cache, restarting the computer, restarting Safari, etc.
    Any suggestions?

Try using OpenDNS servers. System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS. In the left side column click on the + sign and add the following:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK. Then click Apply.
    Info on OpenDNS is here:

  • After upgrading to Mavericks, some websites won't load (using wifi)?

    Hey guys,
I upgraded my Macbook Pro to Mavericks last December. I had some problems when loading some websites (such as eBay, Society6, etc) while I was at home using my home wifi in Indonesia. It's like, sometimes these websites won't load, but sometimes they do.
I've tried different browsers and it's still the same. I thought, it was just the wifi at my home in Indonesia that's problematic, because at work (using cable), the internet's just fine. But THEN, I am now here in Australia, I don't usually have problems with my aprtment's wifi at all, but now it's doing that thing. Some websites won't load properly or won't load at all. I realized that this is most likely has something to do with my laptop (ie. upgrading to Mavericks. I've never had this problem before), because the wifi works just fine with my smartphone and my iPod.
Has anyone encountered similar problem? How do you fix this?
    Thanks so much,
    S

    Hello sharlegit
Try creating a new network location and test to see if the same thing happens of certain websites not working.

  • Specific website will not load

Am having a problem with 1 single website (www.cff.org) that won't load on my MacBook. Neither Firefox nor Safari can access the site.
It seems to be a problem on my local machine as I have tried on 4 different WIFI networks (with different ISp's). Using PC's on those networks i didn't have a problem accessing the site.
Strange thing is that when I connect my MacBook via ethernet cable, the site does load!!
Have tried flushing cache, also looked at firewall settings but cannot get it to work.
Any ideas would be highly appreciated!!

Hans, I solved my particular problem courtesy of a 4-year-old post I found at
    www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t37321-another-linksys-router-blocking-some-sites .html
This guy mentions the MTU size being set too high and talks about a web-based tool to test it. I ran the test and it suggested my MTU was set too high. My MTU was at the default of 1492 which normally ought to be ok. Still, I reduced it to 1400 and instantly the websites I couldn't view became accessible. I hope you can try this out.
To check your MTU setting, you need to access the settings of your router. You'll have to find the router user guide to see how to do this. I recommend you connect to the router hard-wire, not wifi, as wifi settings can get interrupted when you play with router settings. Good luck!

  • Flashplayer not working on one specific website

Recently, flashplayer stopped showing embedded videos on a specific webpage.  Blank white space appears where the video should be.  I can right click on this white space and launch the FP settings program, but the embedded videos neither show nor play.  It is only one specific website--FP works on Youtube and (thus far) everywhere else I've tried it.  The specific webpage I'm experiencing the problem with does not show flash content in either Firefox and IE.
I fear I've changed some setting for this specific page, but for the life of me, can't figure out what that setting might have been.  I've been through all the checklists on the Adobe site that I can find, but nothing seems to work.  Has anyone experienced anything similar?  And how did you solve the problem?
    Thanks?

    Sorry.
    I'm using Windows 7 (vers 6.1)
    Firefox 21.0
    IE 10.0.9200.16540  Update versions: 10.0.4 (KB2817183)
Flashplayer vers is 11,7,700,202 (I've reinstalled it a couple of times today).
the webpage is my own http://jagobcwrestlingart.blogspot.com/ .  There is an embedded video is the very latest entry (April 6).  The embedded videos do work for everyone else (I've tested it on a friend's computer myself).  Apparently I am the only one unable to view the embedded videos on my own site!

  • I cannot get facebook to load on my Macbook pro

For the last 4 days, I cannot get facebook to load on my Macbook Pro.  The only problem I can see is that I cleared the cookies and cleared the browsing history around the same time.  I can see the Zynga cookies are still in place but the games won't load once I can actually get facebook to load.  Sometimes other websites won't load either.  I am at a loss.
So, does anyone have an idea on how to get Safari to actually work so that I can get back on facebook?

that's not what you need.  delete it and download photoshop cs6:

  • My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

Ah, sure it actually won't.  I have the same problem, and I contacted Apple Support.  They told me that there is an incompatability between the iphone 5 and MacBook Pro Retina such that Bluetooth pairing is not possible.
The Support Agent actually had the audacity to tell me this was part of the design of the OS on the MacBook Pro, like Windows people saying, "That's not a bug.  It's a feature!!"
Personally, I think this is insane.  While I was trying to tether the iphone to the MacBook Pro retina for an internet connection, there are other reasons related to file transfers for which one would want to pair the iphone 5 with the MacBook Pro retina.
I am hoping this "feature" is fixed in iOS 7, and/or in some dot release of Mac OS 10.8.
By the way, the personal hotspot feature on my Verizon iphone 5 works great either via a wifi or USB connection.  There are occaisions, however, when one would 1) not have a USB cable, and/or 2) have another wifi relationship between the phone and a network that one would not want to have to "forget" in order for it not to connect to that wifi network.  The Macbook will not find the iphone as a wifi hotspot if the iphone is connected to wifi in the first place.  At least mine won't.
