Online media player won't display nor will formatting buttons in forum since Java console extension is no longer supported.

Yesterday the following message appeared in my browser (Firefox 3.6.13):
"The Java Console extension is no longer supported and will be automatically removed the next time you restart Firefox. This will not affect any Java applications or websites in any way."
After receiving this message, the formatting buttons in the reply boxes of this SMF forum would not display.
http://www.thechristianidentityforum.net/smf/
And when I clicked on the "Listen Live" link at the site below, I got a "Cannot create DirectShow player" error message.
http://www.3aw.com.au/
How do I fix this?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

  • I have been getting this (or earlier version) messages every time Firefox updates for at least a year "The Java Console extension is no longer supported and will be automatically removed the next time you restart Firefox. " What should I do?

For a long time, each time Firefox updates, it invites me to install theJava Console Update. then I get a message that Java Console not supported.

You can uninstall (remove) the Java Console extensions and disable the Java Quick Starter extension, you do not need them to run Java applets.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
Disable the Java Quick Starter extension (if you have it): Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions<br />
Control Panel -> Java -> Advanced tab -> Miscellaneous -> Java Quick Starter (disable)

My Xtreamer media player won't read srt sub files downloaded from my iMac and stored in a 1Tb seagate external disk. However, the Xtreamer Elvira media player will read all the .avi files I have loaded in the external disk. Any ideas?

I am experiencing the same issue with a new external DVD burner, a Sony DRX-840U. When I load a CD into this external drive it appears in iTunes but when you go to import or play the CD iTunes indicates playing or importing for each individual track for just a moment. The end result is that nothing is ever imported or played. I am experiencing this on two different systems. One a notebook running Win2K and the other a desktop running XPpro. If I use the internal DVD drives on either of these systems everything work just fine. Yet I am able to use this new external DVD drive with every other application. For example Window Media Player has no problem playing or importing the same CD that iTunes fails on. The last person indicated that if one set the DVD drive in question to be the drive of choice under preferences>advanced>burning that all was ok. I my case this Sony external drive is the drive listed as the drive of choice for burning yet the issue still exists.
As this appears to be an issue that others are also experiencing help from Apple Tech Support would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like then maybe a "friend" got hold of your phone and set a SIM card password.  Not much you can do if that is the case if you do not know the password except go to your carrier and request a new SIM card.

  • Video Streaming in Windows media player won't play through Airport Extreme

Hello and thank you for reading my issue.
I have the current square shaped airport extreme base station. My mother has a Windows XP system on her Toshiba laptop and she takes an online class which has video streaming for the lectures. When we connect to the network wirelessly or with an ethernet cable through the base station, the video will not begin to buffer and won't play from the website. It just states ready and doesn't buffer. However, if we connect the laptop straight to our cable modem without the base station, the videos stream and play perfectly. Anybody know how we can fix this to play through the wireless network? Thanks a lot.
MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I've played with all sorts of software settings and configurations. This is what worked for me, but I'm not sure how it would work for anyone else, or if the issues are even related, but here goes.
1 - Turn multicast rate to 1 MBPS in the drop down menu found in Airport Utility>Airport icon>Wireless Options Button.
2 - Turn off multicast in Windows Media Player or Real Player
3 - Turn on Video Overlay Optimization check box in Real Player.
These things worked for me, hopefully they will help or give you some ideas for your own situtation.

Nor will video centre.  Can play music and video from file manager but if I go into media player it freezes when I try to play music and video player crashes whenever I play a video through it

I From the Rescue/Recovery mode do a Cleanup>Reboot on the player. It scans the disc for errors, broken links ect. does not erase files. (I would not mess with the firmware) http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=208

  • Creative media player won't recognize format of mp

I have some mp3's (mpeg layer 3 audio) that play in itunes, but refuse to play in creative media player. Why is that? I have all the associations checked in the player (like 'mp3' and 'mpeg') yet I still get the error message: 'unable to recognize the format of the file.' Oh sorry, creative. I threw a tough format like 'mp3' at you and you can't handle it.
And that's only one problem. Why is that when I tell creative to use a certain folder for music, it only lists some of the music in that folder. It will skip some albums entirely, or list some albums with some songs missing. All my songs are mp3. This is driving me nuts. I would really like to use the DTS NEO6 feature, but bugs like this make me want to trash this player and stay with itunes.

    micromouse wrote:
spatzi, if the mp3 files are ripped using iTunes, please be aware that iTunes uses v2.2 of ID3 tag which is an unofficial version. The official version is v2.3. Some software such as MediaSource may have problem with v2.2. Try converting the tag from v2.2 to v2.3. Ironically, you can use iTunes to convert from v2.2 to v2.3.
Thanks for the tip, but if you read my previous post, I did say I only use LAME (dbpoweramp) or EAC to convert to mp3, so it's not a tag problem. Here's what Creative told me to do:
With regards to the issue you are having, please try the following to
    reinstall Mediasource:-
. Click START / RUN / Type MSCONFIG and press ENTER.
    2. Insert a check to the left of SELECTIVE STARTUP and deselect 'LOAD
    STARTUP ITEMS'.
    3. Select the SERVICES tab and select HIDE ALL MICROSOFT SERVICES.
    4. Uncheck all results and click OK.
    5. Click OK and reboot when prompted.
    6. Enable the WINDOWS XP STARTUP MENU by rebooting your computer and
tapping F8 once every second OR holding the SHIFT key while rebooting.
    7. When the menu is displayed, select SAFE MODE and press ENTER.
    8. Once in SAFE MODE, click START / SETTINGS / CONTROL PANEL /
    ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
    9. Remove all Mediasource.
    0. Close all windows, and reboot the computer normally (ENTER NORMAL
    MODE).
. Make sure that the Jet Engine update has been installed. Locations
    for this update are below.
Run a keyword search for SID988 from our knowledgebase:-
    http://us.creative.com//support/kb/
    2. Reboot.
    3. Reinstall Mediasource from the installation CD and Reboot your PC.
    4. Download and install the latest mediasource update for your product
from our website, if any:- http://us.creative.com//support/downloads/
    5. Go to the Start button, Run, and type in MSCONFIG and hit the OK
button. A System Configuration Utility should come up. Choose
Selecti've Startup from the General tab and uncheck the "Load Startup
Group" box as well as the "Load System Services." Click Apply and
    Close
and this time restart the computer when it asks you to.
I also need you to try ripping some CDs that you have using the
Mediasource application. Are you able to play them using the
    Mediasource
    application?
Do reply back to me if you are still having problems with any error
messages prompted. I also need the file format, file szie and bit rate
of one of the songs you are having issues with. Thanks.

  • Installed Snow Leopard, and Movie Media Player Won't Work.

My problem is literally as stated. I recently installed the new OS update, Snow Leopard for those few cave dwellers who don't know about it, and the Move Media Plugin doesn't work in Safari. If you go to FOX Network's website, you can watch full episodes of already aired shows. Before the update it worked fine, nd now with the new Safari update and everything else, it won't play large videos.
I have allowed it to use unlimited space, uninstalled and reinstalled it, restarted the computer, and everyhting else I could think of. Anybody have any ideas?
(This is a recurring problem, Move Media Player has had issues with Safari and/or Mac users in the past, but nobody has anything on the latest issue.)

Any plans they would go 64 bit?
Because I tried running a plug in in 32 bit, and after running in Safari in 64 bit for long time, I now realize that 32 bit just *****, it's horrible, it's too unstable, period. I'm NEVER running it in 32 bit again.
Any hacks to get 32 bit plug in to work in 64 bit environment?
I know they rely on Input manager, but that's the problem!
Many developers are hoping for an API that works, when in reality, it's over. Apple killed Input Manager and there is no plan to release a successor plug in. It's up to the developers to now find their own way to write a code that works just like Input Manager, and it's actually really easy.

  • Windows Media Player won't play media (way to go MS!)

Seems a LOT of people are having trouble getting Windows Media player to work, including me.
When I click a link, such as a song sample link on Amazon, the Media Player window opens, but then doesn't play. Sometimes I get the message "Cannot open the file. Verify that the path and filename are correct and try again."
I have re-downloaded the file and re-installed the app, and trashed
the preference files, but still nothing. I have unchecked Multicast, UDP and TCP, in preferences, as someone suggested.
And why do media players insist on moving the volume control to "max"
when they open, instead of staying where you set them?! Quicktime does
    the same thing.

if the media file was created in v10 of media player, then the current Mac client will be unable to read the file.
(MS in their wisdon decided to make the file format incompatible with v9 for Mac.)
alas, we have no way of knowing which version created the wmv file.
You may also have a hosed WMP plugin. Try right clicking the link and downloading the file instead of playing it through your browser.

  • Windows Media Player won't recognize Adobe Flash

Every time I try to play certain files (SWF files, that used to play in Windows Media Player) this little window pops up informing me that; "To play the selected item, you must install the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe Web site."
Problem is, I've downloaded Adobe Flash Player..... I even decided to cover all my bases, and got Shockwave as well but every time I try to play, it pops up the same message, and clicking the "Web Help" button takes me to the exact same page where I downloaded Adobe Flash Player from!
Gonna restart my system, see if that helps it (really feeling like it won't >,>), but if that doesn't work then I'm officially stumped!

Are you loading a particular website? Where is this file that uses Windows Media Player?
Since your issue relates to Flash, which is separate from Shockwave, post teh question, with full details of what you have been doing, to the Flash forum at:

    Hi,
Can you open it by the way below: Go to the folder: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player, find the wmplayer.exe file and double click on it .
Did you try to disable Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center in Programs and Feartures, and then you may re-enable it.

  • New NPR Media Player won't work

I have been trying to listen to the audio streams via the NPR Media Player that was released a couple of months ago with no success at all. Does anyone have a clue what might be wrong? When I click "listen" the window opens, the story that I want is listed, but no sound comes out. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but I clicked the link you provided and it says I have version 9, 0, 115, 0 installed successfully. I tried to use the player again and there is still no sound. At the bottom of the player window, a message is displayed that says "There were 2 errors opening this page. For more information choose activity from the Window menu." When I clicked that I found an address in the window that opened that says "can't connect." Here is the address listed below.
    http://u.npr.org/crossdomain.xml
I put the address in the address bar and it just says that Safari can't connect to server. I don't understand why it should be so difficult to listen to NPR nowadays. I used to listen to every morning. Does anyone have any other ideas that I might be use? I'm really at the end of my wits here.

The Windows media Player plug-in will not work at all in Safari.
    It always says:

How can I fix this!? I have tried reinstalling it, but it doesn't work...

    Hi bramphetamine!
Instead of WMP, you can use Flip4Mac.

  • HD Media Player won't play MPEG4

I have the Western Digital TV HD Media Player which I'm trying to use as a point-of-purchase HD player in several locations. My problem is that I can't get my favorite picture with audio (the HD-DVD selection in Compressor looks fantastic but won't play audio).
I shoot with the Sony PMW EX-1 in XDCAM and bring into Final Cut using Sony's XDCAM File Transfer.
We have tried to make MPEG4 files using various settings in Compressor and the resulting files are jerky and/or audio sticks and is off sync. We've also tried converting a Quicktime movie to MPEG4 using MPEG Streamclip and we get the same problem.
    Please help!

I'm in the same boat with you. Here's my suggestion:
Using tsmuxergui create a transport stream with your HD-DVD Video and audio (I assume AC3). tsmuxergui should take the .m4v video stream and the .ac3 audio stream and mux them together. (Google it, you can download it free). I haven't tried this approach on mine as I just thought of it after I read your question.
I've had similar issues with the WDTV with MP4 playback. My only thought is to make sure you're using the high profile of h.264 (sadly you can't control profile info like that in making a .mp4 from Compressor). But try the transport stream and you should be good.
