Don't want a phone carrier. Rather purchase directly and use for VOIP calls. Possible? If so, where to buy?

No question is ever a dumb one. Currently there is a video chat in the Nightly version of Firefox for desktop and mobile I believe. However if you are looking to purchase a Firefox OS device with no carrier you would need an internet connection.
Its expected to see this functionality in the later versions 2.0 or 2.1 Firefox OS, but is available in the Web API in the gecko.

Basically what the values of 50,000 and 130000 connections indicate are lab values tested with 80% TCP and 20% udp traffic. (according to table a-2 in the doc below)

RTP is udp traffic but in case of an asa and considering a customer scenario what happens is...
1 voip call = 1 control connection (h323,sip,sccp) + 2 or 4 rtp connections
-so a call will in total easily consume 5 or more connections depending on control connections you have set up .
-also this number differs depending on if the call is voice only or video.
So to simply answer your questions...
1>the number of connections that a call consumes depends on the above factors.
2>Also there is no hard number on the number of calls an asa can handle because this depends on the controls you use ...including nat and inspections.

Notifying PBX if Voip calls can't be completed from WAN

I have 10 2621XMs each connected directly to G3 PBXs. They supply VOIP call lines to the PBX via a direct T1 (NM-HDV-1T1-24). However, when the direct T1 is up between the PBX and the CISCO router, how do I tell the PBX that VOIP calls can't be completed? This, in it's simplest form, would be due to a Frame outage on the WAN side, or perhaps internal call issues in the cloud. Using basic configs, the PBX will only know it when the direct connect T1 is down not the WAN T1 on the other side of the router. Is there any proven ways to track other interfaces or routing and convey that to the voice-ports by seizing the unused ports or taking down the direct connect T1?

Friends Always away and Calls can't be made

For the past few days Skype has made all my friend's online status as away and I know in fact my friends are online because we have been trying to skype. It has also been saying my calls can't be made or they just keep failing. My status is online and I have tried to log out and log back in. That did not work so I tried to re-download skype and it still will not work. After multiple attempts of trying to fix this issue I have gotten no where. Is there anyway to fix this?

yeah I experienced this issue too and I have come to know that if someone has installed skype on his/her smart phone he will remain away even if he isn't connected to the internet at all and if he/she unistalled skype from the smart phone without logging out of the skype app they will remain away forever I think the solution to this issue is if someone isn't connected to the internet on smartphone skype should automatically change his status to be offline because it is very confusing

Yes you certainly can.
Right click any desktop in the list > Settings > in the left pane select the desktop you want to auto connect to > check "Auto connect to this desktop".

AS5300: VOIP call, can't listen to answering party.

I have a AS5300 running VOIP call without Gatekeeper, and my cisco is behind NAT.
Now the problem is, i can't listen to a particular country but answering party can hear me well.
More, this don't happen to the rest of the countries.
And, if tested with different AS5300 on else where IP (NAT) it's ok to this particular country.
How can i conclude it's not my error ?
P/S: i did a debug and found that all my voice is sent successfully to the answering party. But no return packet from them after connection.

I was getting the same problem , I did nat on router but it did work , so i used PIX instead of router. what PIX do is that it has the command fixup protocls which make it works.
let me explain you :
well H.323 put its source n destination packet inside the payload so when the distination router recieve the packet it looks to the inside one( payload adds) not the outer one that changed through natting. so the destination router doesnt know about the public add , he knows only abt the private address. so in this way the packets are not coming back.
Now I need to put router instead of router , can u explain me how is it working for other countries , it should works for any one.

How do I get print selection to work when I only want to print a paragraph on a web site that I had highlighted?

I can't print out a highlighted paragraph or section from a article or data. It won't let me select the selection option, only the print all or page 1 of etc.
I have no trouble if using Explorer 9.

It sort of worked. I selected the three lines of the given answer above, followed the directions and the printer responded with the header at the top followed by a trace of the very bottom edge of the first line and then a full rendering of the next two lines. I checked the page setup and the top and bottom margins were normal at .5 ins.

Only want to send from Reader not save

I have a form which people using Reader will
be filling in and emailing back to me, so I've used the 'Enable User rights ' in Acrobat 8.
When you go to submit the data via email in Reader it wants to save the file first, is there a way of avoiding this, I only want the sender to email it to me so that I can save it somewhere on the server, don't need everybody else also saving it somewhere on the server.

If you do click in the signature field you do get the save as dialouge box.
Pity there is no workaround, perhaps in future development of Adobe Reader there will be more ability for it to process forms as they have been developed in Live Cycle.

How can I create a phase shift that will cause cross-cancellation?

I recently recorded something using a USB audio input, and after it was done realized that a cellular device had interfered with the signal and I have a terrible hiss, some clicks, cell noise, etc. in the recording. Setting a noise print and running "Reduce Noise" did more to help this file than I ever would have thought possible (thank you Apple!!), but I think I might be able to do even better.
The left channel has the audio I need, plus all the noise. The right channel has ONLY THE NOISE! Can anyone think of a way that I can use this right channel to create a cross-cancellation of the noise in the left channel? Theoretically, this should create a perfect (or close enough to it for me) file, should it not?
The phase shifter doesn't seem to have what I would need to do this, but I'm sure some audio genius out there can think of a way I can either do this manually or with a filter or effect.

IF you were to take two +identical signals+, sum them in equal amounts and flip the phase on one of them 180º to the other you will get +complete cancellation+.
According to the manual on page 221 the Process>Invert will do this.

IF your R channel is the exact same noise as the noise in your L Channel then this technique could work for you.
You can test this out with any track -> put a copy of it on another track and Invert, they resulting playback will be total silence.
