OOP'S I washed my daughters Ipod!!! Help please

We put it in a bowl of rice and dried it out nicely for 2 days and it works great only on the charger but not when it is disconnected.  It wont even turn on when disconnedted from the charger, computer or I home.  It is fully charged too.  She is devastated so should i take it to the geek squad????
will it cost a small fortune????
thanks

Sounds like you shorted out the battery. This is why it will work while connected to power, but not otherwise. You might as well take it to them and see what they want to fix it, but you're probably going to be better off buying a new one.
Also, I'd sell it on e bay as people buy them for parts.

  • Music not in iTunes or iPod help please!!

I am currently on Windows Vista, but my old computer was XP. The hard drive of my old computer got so full I had to delete all my music to free up some space. I thought I had backed it up on disc use on my iPod, but later I found out that somehow that hadn't happened.
So I figured I could just transfer everything to my new computer from my ipod. I hooked it up, told it not to erase anything, enabled manual use, all that good stuff, and itunes locks up. So I restarted my computer and replugged the ipod, but rater than ask me the same questions itunes just erased everthing on my ipod! The only things in itunes and my ipod are purchases! Most of my songs were from CDs, a lot of which I don't own or have since lost. I had over a thousand songs and now I have 96.
Is there anyway to recover songs off your ipod once itunes decides to delete them or am I just screwed? I didn't even get a chance to download a program that could have transfered my music from my ipod. Please help me!

*The hard drive of my old computer got so full I had to delete all my music to free up some space.*
You really painted yourself into a corner. The better solution would have been to purchase an external drive. I've seen 290G units for less than US$100. The iPod should NEVER be the prime storage device.
*I thought I had backed it up on disc use on my iPod...*
You've got it backwards. The computer's hard drive backs up the iPod. Further, the computer's hard drive should be backed up to CDs/DVDs or yet another external hard drive but certainly not the iPod as the iPod backs up NOTHING.
*Most of my songs were from CDs, a lot of which I don't own...*
Well, now that I realize that you're stealing music, I no longer have any sympathy for you.

  • Recovery itunes library from iPod (help PLEASE)

So I was stupid and didn't back up my iTunes library, I've now lost it all apart from a 128gb iPod.
Can anyone PLEASE advise how to transfer those songs from my iPod back into my iTunes library (iMac running OSX Yosemite)?
Much appreciate any help that can be offered...
    Dan

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Network & iTunes & iPod Help Please

Hi everyone, I have a 60 Gig video iPod, and my iTunes library is on my home computer. I have my iPod setup to manually update the songs. I like to plug my iPod into my work computer to charge it and also have iTunes play my music on my iPod. Now this works all fine with no problems until I log onto my work network. My network drives are mapped starting at Drive E, and when I am logged onto the network and then plug in my iPod, iTunes shows the iPod, but I can't access any of the music on it. Now, if I am not logged onto the network and plug in my iPod iTunes accesses my iPod just fine and I can use iTunes to play my iPod music.
Does anyone know of a setting I can change in iTunes so that I can play my iPod music when I am logged into the network??
Thanks in advance for any help you have to offer.

OK, I just restarted my computer and hooked up my iPod before I logged onto the network. Itunes opened and showed my ipod and I can access the songs that are on my iPod and play them through iTunes. I opened up My Computer, and there isn't an extra drive. I double click the Network Drive and it is still labled as the network drive, and it opens and displays the folders that are on my ipod. Now when I log onto the network and then connect my iPod, iTunes opens up and shows the iPod with a "H:\" name, and i can't access anything on my iPod. I open up my computer, and it doesn't show another drive being connected to my computer. I check the hardware profile, and it has my iPod listed as being another drive connected to my computer and that it has no problems. I check the properties and it shows my iPod with the name and a drive letter of E:\.
This is what is causing my problem. I don't know how to fix it. Other than changing the network mapping drive - which really isn't an option because of all the ini files I would have to change for the network programs I run on my machine.

  • 60 Gig iPOD help please !!!!!!!!!!!!

    ****0......
I have a 60 Gig Color Display, have managed to successfully download songs, but have a problem with transferring videos/movies. The iPOD plays them, but there is no audio. I surfed the web last nite and found others had same problem, but saw no real solution. They are MP4 files and not mult-plexed. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I have a business trip later today and wanted to use the movie feature....heck, I'll even give ya a prize since answers are so hard to come by on here
    Thanks all !
    Katie

That happened to me to. I think it did it though when I did something to the video settings. It was quite a while ago, so I don't remember. Go to video and then to video settings. I just fiddled around with that, and it worked. Calling Apple Care doesn't help me too much, though I still call them once in a while. Not sure if this helps much, but hope you resolve the problem.

  • Inactive ipod , help please :(

    Hi !
Suddenly my ipod mini stopped working.
I followed all the relevant troubleshooting steps, and I can`t restore it because the computer (iMac) won`t show it on desktop or in iTunes.
However, I now had it on charging for about 2 hours, and it`s swiching between these symbols; "sad ipod icon", "apple logo" and "low battery icon" (not the charging icon)
I have now got it in Disk Mode, but not further.
Any ideas how I can solve this problem?
Shall I just continue charging it for some hours?
    Hope someone can help
    Thaks.
    -Milla-

My iPod is not even 4 months...., and my problems are pretty much the same as yours.
I`ve tried EVERYTHING suggested on this site and from apple, but nothing worked.
Last week I decided to use the "warranty support" that came with it.
If you have your serial-number, you can check here (down to right) if you have a support coverage on your iPod.
Think it`S within a year from when you bought it.

  • Refurbished Ipod Help Please!!!!!

I just purchased a refurbished ipod from Apple recently. After charging the battery for about an Hour, the icon on the screen was the sad or unhappy iPod icon appears. I tried to put the ipod into disk mode, but that doesn't appear either. So what seems to be the problem??

I purchased a refurb original iPod touch from Apple. No problems, but it was slightly scratched on the back when it arrived.
The refurb ones appear to be the original ones (look at the size of the unit). They lack the external speaker and volume buttons, and I think they have a slightly different body design. But they can make some noise (i.e., alarms). The screen seems to be the same, and wifi speed is the same.
    Hope this helps.

  • Windows says it does not recognize my ipod HELP please

Had ipod for 3 days. Worked fine. Last time I docked it, gave me an error message saying it was not recognized becuase it was malfuctioning. Reset, restored, re booted, reinstalled itunes, deleted apple auto update, changed ports, you name it. So I took it back to the store and plugged it into a PC and a mac, using my cable, and it works fine. My other usb devices working fine. I tried a windows restore to when it was working, and for some reason I get another message saying that it cannot be restored (never had that happen before......). Any new ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
PC clone Pentium 4 3.x   Windows XP Pro

I fixed mine. right click my computer>properties>hardware tab >device manager. The I went down to usb controller and clicked the plus sign. there was listed 3 usb something controllers or hubs. Right click and choose disable on them one at a time and see what happens. My ipod was instantly recognized. when i went back and enabled what i had disabled, it was no longer recognized. I have no idea why it worked for me but it did. Try it at your own risk. Good luck!

  • Need ipod help please windows to mac format !

I bought a used 2gb ipod nano. When I plug it into the computer via usb, the warning sign comes on the ipod and it says to "do not disconnect" and it just stays like that. I looked on the account menu on the ipod and it shows "windows" format. I am trying to use this on an iMac. Can this be the problem? If this is the case, how do I make it mac format ? The ipod does not show up on the desktop either when it is plugged in, so how do I change it ?

    Try restoring it.
See: How to restore the iPod to factory settings.
As to the "do not disconnect" message, if you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”. There is also an iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject. With a Mac, drag the iPod into the trash.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes version 7 or later, connect the iPod and when you see the summary screen, uncheck the box marked "enable disk use".
If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, right click on the iPod in the source list, select options and uncheck the same box.
In future your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

  • Itunes is not reading 3rd generation ipod. help please.

ok so here is the deal. i just bought a 3rd generation ipod for my lil sister and itunes does not read it at all. but i have a 2nd generation ipod myself and it works just fine. i have done the 5 R thing and it still does not work. anyone have any suggestions?

Restoring it will erase the songs from your iPod, but not iTunes. It's simply a matter of loading them again from your library.
I think this is your only option.

  • HT1212 I pod pass code will not open ipod, plus the iopd is in voice mode and it dose not seem to be responding to my voice commands so saying the pass code or trying to type it in will not work to open my ipod , HELP Please

How would one open an ipod if voice command is on but not responding? and the ipod has a opening page creen lock on as well.

I think you have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:
