Docs won't open in Pages on Mac, from previous edit on iPad

I broached this subject in another post on iCloud b/c I thought maybe that was the culprit. I was able to get things working that time by updating passwords...although NOT because any passwords were wrong.

Now I have the same $@%( problem. I worked on a doc on my iPad earlier today. Go to Pages on my Mac mini and see the doc in the iCloud window, click on it and nothing. In fact, nothing opens on Pages. I tried downloading from iWork through the web and downloading a Pages '09 version to my local drive, but that wouldn't work. Really frustrating and not just a simple case of being out of sync. Versions of Pages on the iPad and Mac are up-to-date.

You may need to try one of the apps especially designed for compatibiltiy with MS Word instead of Pages.

Opening pdf's in applications from safari - ipad

When opening a pdf in an application from safari (i.e. pdf expert, goodreader) the pdf name does not show correctly. Is there a way to properly create the pdf or open it differently to keep the name in the application?

Hi Gerard
You'll need to use at least Adobe Reader 8.1 with Safari 3, otherwise, Safari crashes. To install Reader 8.1.3, go here. At the site, click on the drop down selection menu and choose "Power PC 10.4.3 - 10.4.10". Otherwise, Adobe points you to Reader 9 instead of 8.
Before installing Reader 8, go to your HD>Library>Internet Plug-ins folder and move to the trash the existing Adobe PDF plug-in. This way, you're ensured of a clean install of version 8.
After the install, and prior to opening Safari, I suggest you go to your Applications>Utilities folder, open Disk Utility, highlight your HD and select "repair permissions".
Post back and let us know if that stops the crashes.

Opening Cutom page carries menu from Standard page

Hi,
I have developed a custom page which I'm invoking from a standard page, by adding a button using personalization and setting it's Destination URI property to the custom page.
The custom page opens fine, but it has all the menu's, tabs and navigation links that are defined in the standard page. I do not want that to happen.
Is there any property I need to set?
Below is a gist of what I've done:
1) Added a Button (to pageButtonBar).
2) Created a custom controller which extends the page level controller.
3) In ProcessRequest of the custom controller, derived a parameter value (from main Page), and set the Button's "Destination URI" property to /man/oracle/apps/ar/creditmgt/webui/UCCSummaryPG&cfId="+cfId+"&retainAM=N" and "Target Frame" to _blank (to open in a new window).
However, when I test it, the custom page has all the navigation links from the main page. I have tried with retainAM=N and menu=N, but hasn't helped.
Any pointers to how I can remove the menus from custom page?

Hi,
There is still a small issue in this. I have a delete function, and the user needs to confirm if he wants to delete the entity. But when I use pageContext.redirectToDialogPage(dialogPage), I see the menu's from the standard page.
Any method to suppress this on the dialogPage?

The list of open web pages, which normally sits bottom right on my screen, flipped to the left. How can I move it back to the right?
I clicked Alt + tab and saw 'Deplacer' (Reposition - I'm in France). Then the cursor became a thing like a crossroads and I clicked where I wanted to put the list of open pages but nothing happened.

You may have placed the bookmarks icon on the Navigation Toolbar to open the bookmarks in the sidebar instead of the bookmarks menu button that opens a drop down list.<br />
There are two icons available for opening or accessing the bookmarks that both have a star.<br />
The icon with the drop marker opens the drop down list with the bookmarks (Bookmarks Menu button).<br />
The other, without the star, opens the bookmarks in the sidebar, just like the Ctrl+B shortcut or View > Sidebar > Bookmarks

Open a JSP from an ScreenFlow in a new window

Hi all, a have a proccess in wich I get user input with a Screen Flow. The ScreenFlow has some JSP to collect user data (User Information, Economical data, Provider, ....). Some of the fields in the JSP needs to be filled with information that is in a database. For example, the is a field "Provider" that needs to be search in a database. I want to open a JSP in a new window in order to show a list of provider (or whatever other data I need). This JSP in a new window would return the data in a specific field.
Now, I have done this modelling in the ScreenFlow but if the JSP form has lot of field of that kind the proccess get very complex.
There is any way to open a JSP in a new Window (from a presentation of a ScreenFlow) without loosing the JSP context? (i mean having the ability to access BPM methods and data).

Opening a file from a hyperlink in a new window

I know than you can hyperlink to a new webpage by checking the "open in new window" box when creating the hyperlink. But I have made a hyperlink linking to an mp3 file. When you click on it, I would like a brand new window to open so my website doesn't go away. But the option is no longer available for links to files. Any advice?

The size of the popup window is given in the code from Step 3.1 (the one that opens the popup) this code where width width and height of the window that pops up is decided and that's where you have to change the width and height parameters by typing in the number of pixels (now width 300 height 200) increase height and diminish width, you have to play around a bit...
The flash player window says TEXT because that's the title of that page in iWeb, search for the title field in the page you embedded the flashplayer to and change it.

Calling a report from a report in a new window?

I have a report that has a link to another report that opens in a new window. This works great when I run the report from the applications tab in the navigator. I then added it to a page as a portlet. I ran the page and tried the link, but I get a page not found error. Here is the code I'm using.

This is basically a BASE HREF problem.
In full page mode, your base HREF woule be point to something like package.procedure.show
But in the portlet mode, the BASE HREF would be set to the current page.

Page data does not load with goButton? (new window of identical page)

Hi guys. I ran into a problem. Essentially, I need to print a .jsff page but before I do, I have to alter its format a little bit. The solution I decided to use was to create a new .jspx page containing almost the exact same content. I even copied the data bindings and everything. Finally, I created a goButton on my original page like so:

</af:goButton>This opens my page nicely in the format I want. But...there is no data on the page! It just opens a frame of the page. Can someone help me resolve this?
Otherwise, is there any other technique I could use to accomplish my goal?

Hi guys. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I finally got a working solution, something totally different from the suggestions.
My goal was to print a .jsff page nicely. But before I could do that, I needed to modify some data on the page. I also wanted to do this in as few clicks as possible. I tried the goButton technique but the binding data would not load. I couldnt figure out why.
Nonetheless, I finally managed to make my own version (albeit, not that neat!). I accomplished this by essentially making a template which automatically opens in showprintablebehavior format. I tried to follow a bunch of online tutorials/blogs but nothing worked for me. Here are the steps I used:
1) Creating a new .jspx page.
2) Copy the entire source of the .jsff page (the one which needs to be printed) into our new template .jspx page. (do have to modify the beginning parts by adding <af:document> <af:form> etc)
3) Create a pageDef for the template page and copy the entire pageDef as well (do have to change the name of the pagedef)
4) Modify your print template to your liking.
5) Add a taskflow rule that links the original .jsff page to the new template page
6) Add a commandButton on the original .jsff page which opens this printing page in a new window (remember to use "dialog:....."). Here is mine:

What this does is when you click on the command button to open the printer template, our template page opens but as it opens, it automatically sets focus to the printer button using the document tag. The printer button has a listener which activates when it receives focus (in our case, as soon as the page loads). This listener invokes the javascript method, which progamatically clicks the printer button and closes this window. What your left with is a printer friendly page of your modified page!
All the data is present there too!

How can I stop the bookmarks sidebar from popping up in every new window/tab?

I CAN close it, by clicking on the X, or ctrl-B, or going to View... but it keeps coming back in every new window/tab, and that just annoys me. I'm used to having the bookmarks up in the Menu bar, out of the way, until I want them. The sidebar takes up a lot of space. And even though it's easily closed, I resent all these things that I didn't ask for, don't want, and can't control!

Usually the sidebar doesn't open by itself, but it is shared by all the tabs in a window.
If you are using a toolbar button for the Bookmarks menu (instead of the classic menu bar), you might have the sidebar open/close button instead of the drop-down button. They have nearly identical icons, but the menu has either a little triangle or the word Bookmarks to the right of it, depending on which bar it's on. (Screen shot attached, from Firefox 24.)
To change out your button, you can try the Customize feature. See: [[Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars]].
